Was that a detail forgotten by Cindi and his staff, or a silent statement by McCain?
I'm serious, just check http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/08/debate.poll/index.html
Just found this great new item in the Obama store. A South Carolina shaped, enameled lapel pin featuring the Obama Campaign Logo. Surely destined to become the must-have fashion accessory for fall. Get yours before they're gone, wear it with pride, and let's show everyone what good judgement and discernment in taste look like!!

Posted a couple of days ago that he's selling his own for $100.
Q: Why doesn't McCain wear an American flag lapel pin?
A: There wouldn't be enough room to put his own for $100.
So Karl Rove has the impudence to go after Obama over a darn lapel pin…. Wow.
Karl Rove is ignorant and a waist of air-time for any media. He should do as he's done with this failure of an administration, leave and go be part of some private sector board of trustees, retire, and pass-on from being in the spotlight. Or at best be brought to Justice for all that he has caused our nation.
By The Way, being a Veteran and Proud PATRIOT (REAL PATRIOT) who has served over-seas, and continues to wear this nations uniform proudly, I say this, MY DRILL INSTRUCTOR once told me that if “anyone” really wants to, "anyone" could be Marine, BUT it takes a real Patriot to be a real Marine (not the uniform). So will you be a Marine, with or without the uniform, or will you be a Skeleton (one empty of substance) in uniform?
What is this matter of a pin? Give me a break, I don’t wear one, does that make me less patriotic then those who do? Then what about the 8 ribbons and medals that I wear for my service to our nation, am I still less of a patriot then those who want to flaunt a lapel pin?
I got those accolades doing something real; I didn’t just put them on because I “felt” patriotic.
Rove should retire and be unheard of.
I first saw Barack Obama during an interview following the 2004 Democratic Convention. (I missed the actual speech at the time, but have since listened to it.) During the interview, Obama was challenged with a question about a comment he had made some time earlier. I expected to hear the usual political dodge, tap dance and evasive non-answer, but I was stunned to hear him answer the question directly. He took ownership of his prior comment and did not try to re-explain it in a way that made no sense (see, e.g., Rush Limbaugh and "phony soldiers" among countless examples), but rather explained that he made it with the knowledge he had at the time.
Since then, I've also noticed that he does not engage in the ridiculous language manipulation that is particularly characteristic of virtually all on the right and even some on the left (i.e., "war on terror," "democrat party," etc.) Instead, he speaks plainly, directly, and most important, honestly.
More recently, I've learned about the flap over whether he wears a flag on his lapel pin. I, for one, have long been bothered by the excessive display of the flag everywhere you turn - on bumper stickers, TV stations (see Fox) and lapel pins. As a result, I long ago decided that I didn't want to have anything to do with displaying the flag. It's not because I don't love my country - I do - but rather because the flag has become a simple of jingoism and divisiveness (i.e., "America, Love it or Leave it," "God Bless America" (but not the rest of the world?)), and an artificial and meaningless test of patriotism.
So, regarding the "lapel flag" issue, I agree with Obama completely. By stepping back from the comparatively meaningless "flag waving" form of patriotism, we can focus more appropriately on true patriotism - a patriotism of action. I don't know whether Obama's decision will help him get elected, but I admire the stand he has taken. Now, if only we can get the media to stop talking about it incessesantly (are you listening, Fox News?) and start focusing on substance.
