Organizing for America - Have you seen This Video Yet? More then ever, you need it now to re-kindle the spirit that lived in us all prior to the election.
We need to get this video out in the public eye in a big way to re-kindle the spirit of optimism that existed prior to the election of President Obama.
Yes We Can (Change our Destiny) that is what we need to understand.
Post the inaugural, post the election, post the optimism fading, post the Republican's battle of the wills, it's sad to see our country slowly slipping back to the bad ol' days when the President is simply a news curiosity, just some guy in the White House. Barack Obama is more then that. He is the change we all voted for.
When I get pessimistic that such talk as the above is simply the talk of a dreamer, I hear President Obama speak. For instance, his speech at Notre Dame. It was historic, incredible, inspiring. it reminded me why I was so filled with hope on November 4th, 2008. When I hear him speak, I still get uplifted and remember who is in the White House.
But let us not forget the obvious, he's a human being, he can't correct everything at once, he has information now as President about our country we will never know and he is, I am confident, desperately trying to balance it all. I have not agreed with every move, espeically preventitive detention, but should we need or expect to agree with everything that anyone does? I agree with most and that's good enough for me to be a great supporter of his. I speak out when I don't agree with President Obama or anyone, but that doesn't mean I don't ardently support President Obama. In the past, I agreed with very little our Presidents have done, so this is an extremely refreshing change, especially at a time in our history which is unparalleled in it's complexity and danger to our society, our country and our world.
My only personal regret is that the video I directed and produced to keep the dreams alive, Yes We Can (Change our Destiny) has not been endorsed by Organizing for America and posted on its home page (or endorsed by Oprah or some such celebrity that can bring instant distribution to this cause, this quest to make optimsm and involvement the norm). This video should be endorsed by someone or some organization of such stature. It should be the rallying cry that we all remember to say to ourselves every day, that "YES WE CAN CHANGE OUR DESTINY." If we realize that simple truth, that we are in control of our destinies, we will work hard for change. We will become involved. Pessimism occurs when we believe we aren't in control, when we believe that hope is lost, when we believe that we can't make a difference. But the election proved how much we can change the world, how much we can accomplish when we act in unity with hope and optimism, when our world collectively believes that YES WE CAN CHANGE OUR DESTINY.
I have tried to move on, to concentrate on other causes, problems and issues in our world and my life, to not continue to push so actively to get this video "out there" more. But every time I lose hope and become pessimistic about our world, I listen to my own words in that video and I realize that Yes I can Change My Destiny and the world's destiny, that I can be part of that, that I'm not just a weak individual without a voice. I'm just as capable of changing our world as anyone. Ghandi, Rosa Parks, Mother Theresea, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Maria Montessori, Jonas Salk, Orville & Wilbur Wright, Barack Obama, yes, these are great people, but they are people, regular individuals that began with simply a dream, to change our world. When you look back through history, it's not countries or corporations that created transformative change, it was individuals. The power of the individual is stunning.
If anyone out there in the administration of Organizing for America listening please take a moment to watch this video. It's only 5 minutes. I'm a professional filmmaker, I promise you, it will be worth your time. This video was made as my service to America. But with "only" 130,000 + views (which is teeny tiny in the world of YouTube) which occurred mostly around January 20, 2008, this video is not inspiring anyone anymore. It could be inspiring millions right now to stand up and be part of the solution, not the problem, to realize one's own civic opportunity and responsibility, if Organizing for America would simply endorse this video and place it on their home page as a permanent fixture of inspiration.
Do not think I do this for any fame. I don't even want credit for this film. This project was entirely pro-bono and continues to be so. I simply want to help before my time on this Earth is over.

I've been online reading blogs for years, yet this is my first. I am so inspired by President Obama and Family that I can't keep quiet any longer. I've honestly been given hope, inspiration and change. THANK YOU!
To Whom It May Concern:
For years i've been on my way back to school to futher my career. I've had plenty to say that was meaningful and from the bottom of my heart. Afraid to walk in the shoes of the person I truely want to be... the person I am. Haven't embraced the extremely artistic portion of myself... my passion. Its crazy how i've taken so much from myself, and pretended not to be as intellectual, and beautiful as I am inside and out. I thought to myself that I didnt want to be intimidating. Didn't say it if I thought it would hurt your feelings. It's fine... I am ok with who and where I am.
What the ____! What really have I been thinking...
I came across this video and it was just the boost I needed, please share with other whom you think might need a boost to:

Barack Obama, you changed the tone of the campaign this week. You brought it back to politics and policy. With all of the right policies, you should be winning in the polls.
Again, I say it: Barack, take the highest of high roads. Right now, be the change you want to see.
You want a campaign free of smears? Praise your opponents.
You want a campaign based on truth? Tell us the truth about you. Your plans. Bring it back to you.
Barach Obama, you inspired a nation during the Democratic convention. You inspired us to believe for so many months. We learned all we could about you. We had the audacity to hope.
Then McCain pulled a rabbit out of his hat and inspired his own base.
You have no more rabbits. We all know your message.
All you can bring us is you.
Inspire us again. Speak only kindness. Focus on helping in Texas, even before the financial markets. Go to Texas. Fix things! Be the hope you talk about! Be the change you promise! Start your presidency of hope and kindness and fairness today. Lead us now! Inspire us again. We need you.
I have been watching Senator Obama's speeches and until the other night i could not put my finger on what exactly was drawing me to Voting for him. I did the other night become able to sum up in my mind why Barack is amazing to me. I will take the next few minutes to explain to you how Senator Barack Obama has made me feel.
Sept 11 2001 was a very emotional time for me. I was beside myself trying to understand why or how anyone in the world could cause such horrific terror to so many inncoent people. Why or how a God could allow such pain and destruction. I spent the days and weeks after 9/11 reading the bible for the first time. I watched the news constantly trying to understand what had happened and trying to piece togethor simply Why. You see i was born in 1979 so i have not seen much if any War to speak of. I have never had to deal with evil people pressing their will on me.
In the days weeks and months following 9/11 i began to feel connected to America. I began to feel proud of our Country. I have always been proud of America, but now I really felt like i was part of a community. As i was glued to the tv every night and the radio during the day I saw other Americans feeling as i did. This gave me the feeling of great Patriotism. I wanted to do whatever i could to serve and help all of those that where hurt.
On the 7th anniversary of 9/11 the Presidential candidates took the time to sit down and discuss service. I watched Senator McCain and i was pleased with his answers and I felt that America would not crumble if he where president. I spent the time to journal my thoughts and I allowed myself to go back to that sad day 7 years ago.
Next Senator Obama came out to answer the same questions. I remember feeling the unique feelings that came about 7 years ago. They were not the ones of searching for understanding. I was not trying to discover why or how. I was feeling, I couldnt tell, united, patriotic, driven... I feltlike i was part of something, here is aguy that gets it. Here is a guy that knows what i need. Here is a guy that knows what America needs. Barack Obama is the man that America needs to unite us as one country much like we were immediately following 9/11. Here is a man that has brought me INSPIRATION.
The Bush/Cheney Administration of the last eight years has been the worse since I was born and is arguably the worse executive branch administration in the history of the country. What George Bush and Dick Cheney with the assistance of the Republicans have done to this country is nothing less than criminal. Bush and the Republicans have allowed oil companies to plunder our economy with price gouging. They’ve contracted their friends to conduct a privatized war in Iraq at an exorbitant cost to the American people. They’ve provided tax cuts to the rich while creating the greatest deficit in the history of the country. They’ve indebted the United States to China. They’ve cost the lives of 4000 young Americans in a war that never should have been. They’ve made America the terror of the world, losing us allies and engendering an enmity we’ve never known.
We all have come from various walks of life to end up here. Not just on this site, not just as supporters of this campaign, but here in the sense that we've (hopefully) arrived to a new state of mind and a new view of what the future can hold for us. I can speak for myself in saying that before I was not interested in politics, or really anything to do with our government. With the candidacy of Barack Obama and the message he brought with it, I found a renewed sense of pride in my country and first time interest in how my country "works". And I don't care how the media spun it, but I think most of us understood what Mrs. Obama meant when she said that about "The first time in her adult life..." There has been such a disconnect with the American people from it's government, and even the America people from one another. Times have gotten so hard that it's hard to take the time to care for your fellow man, nor, in these dog eat dog days, are we encouraged to do so.
It's hard for me to understand how some people don't want to see things change for the better. Quick anecdote: I recently volunteered at an elderly care facility. My goal was to make the residents there happy. It didn't take much. Simple things like talking, touching their hand, playing UNO, painting their nails, or putting in an "oldey but goody" movie in the VCR was all it took to make their day. The employees though, soon grew frustrated with me. I faced constant confrontation whenever I tried to do any activity with the residents. They began to feel as though I was trying to show off, show them up, or show them how horrible they were that they never took the time to do these things. They didn't realize that I wasn't there for them, I wasn't even really there for me (although I was equally rewarded by making them happy), I was there for the residents. I couldn't understand how some people didn't want good things to happen to people, especially those who are the most likely not to find much good in life.
Next time someone tells you that Barack Obama doesn't have the experience to lead, or asks you what foreign policy credentials does he have. Ask them to consider a few people from our past:
Where did Martin Luther King Jr. come from? How did he end up getting all those people to show up in Washington with no experience? How did he become the leader of the civil rights movement w/out years of training? Who cares!?! We have equal rights now!
How much experience did our founding fathers have with writing constitutions, building a nation, and governing a people? None. And who cares?!? Look where we are today, we are the United States of America!
How much experience did Harriet Tubman have when she became the leader of the underground railroad which led slaves to free states? She didn't even have a map! Who cares!?! She led them to freedom!
I don't care how much experience Obama has or doesn't have because he inspires me and millions of others to get off our butts and change OUR country for the better. By the People, For the People
Scary. I guess it was inevitable...
I went to my first community/organizational meeting tonight, and was so pleasantly surprised by the number of Obama supporters (active, member-attending types) in the Hanover area! My only foray into local politics heretofore had been a single meeting of the Hanover Democratic Club. I was grateful this small group of diehards existed in Hanover, but not inspired to join.
Tonight's meeting was great though - all sorts of people, all ages, from all over the area. I'm so psyched! i feel a little bit like a kid before Christmas. i'm going to canvass tomorrow - and i can hardly wait! i'm actually skipping the Long Island Iced Tea and beer pong that would normally define Friday Night at Jeanine's house - just so i'm not hungover for canvassing! Now THAT'S inspiring...
There's one dark cloud that i'll briefly give voice to...the cried-myself-numb-in-the-fetal-position-on-the-floor-feeling that followed Election Night 2004. It's nagging me, in the back of my mind. Work, yes. Hope, definitely. But don't bank on it. 2004 was like that first really bad break-up you had, where you swear off members of the opposite sex and decide that going it alone will be safer. That's what i'm trying to beat right now, that...apprehension that keeps me from giving it my all. From giving my heart.
I'm working on it.
One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
one bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
one handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
one word can frame the goal
One vote can change a nation,
one sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
one laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start a journey,
one word start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
one touch can show you care.
One voice to speak wisdom,
one heart can know what's true.
One life makes the difference,
you see "You are the one".
This blog is short and sweet just click on the link to the video and enjoy. I hope this will motivate us to get out there and and do all the hard work it is going to take to get Obama elected into the White House:

The August/September issue of The Mountain Astrologer posted Barack's Chart Wheel for our viewing pleasure. Barack's Ascendant is Aquarius; North Node is in Leo in the 7th House; South Node in Aquarius in the 1st House. From a Karmic or Spiritual Astrological perspective, here's a short analysis, a few highlights taken from Martin Schulman's book "Karmic Astrology: The Moon's Nodes and Reincarnation", and I quote:
"Very capable of strong leadership in this life....."
"Once determination takes root, there is no stopping the path towards success....."
"....he has an infinite blessing to offer as he inspires confidence and strength in others"
"He can give others the will to live where there was none. He can make others aware of their own self-worth"
".......he has a great ability to do something for the human race for he is capable of depersonalizing his actions for the good of all mankind"
"He is destined to devote his life to others. Actually he has been preparing for many lifetimes to meet now the person or persons who need him the most"
"......he comes to learn that his life is a mission, dedicated to another soul or in fact many souls needing more than he does"
And finally,
"This individual is capable of making revolutionary changes in what was once established tradition"
It is our time! Like the song says "This is the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius"
Yes We WILL Win The General!

I grew up in a Republican household in a small town in Central Texas. So, naturally, I felt like I was violating the long-held principles of my father (the only good Democrat is a dead one, etc.), when I was inspired by speeches of John F. Kennedy. I was especially caught up by his idealism in proposing journeying to the moon (a speech he gave at Rice University, by the way, where I now work). I was in high school then. too young to vote.
In 1970, I moved to Houston, was very much anti-Vietnam War, and heard George McGovern speak when he was running for president in 1972. I believed in his message, but when it came time to vote, I reverted to family dogma and voted for Richard Nixon. Over the next two years, I discovered the awful truth about Nixon, and dropped all thought of politics for at least twenty years. I still think that Gerald Ford's pardon of Nixon was one of the most shameful acts in American history -- or I did until George Bush became president. I also believe we will continue to damage the office of the President and the reputation of the United States if we don't impeach both George Bush and Dick Cheney, AND make sure they are tried for war crimes in the Hague -- but that's another issue.
MoveOn.org had a contest to make a 30-second video for Obama. 5.5 million votes were cast for the top ten entries, from over 1,000 videos submitted. Celebrity judges, including Oliver Stone, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, John Legend, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Robert F. Kennedy's daughter, Rory Kennedy, chose winners from over 1,000 videos sent in.Today MoveOn announced the winner: "Obamacan." In the ad, a former Air Force Staff Sergeant talks about Obama's talent for reaching out to Republicans as well as Democrats, saying, "I’ve been a Republican since before I could actually vote–and I’m voting for Barack Obama."
Members of the UK Obama Meetup star in their own contest entry. See the winning video and Read more here.
