"Many people took out loans they were never going to be able to afford, never! That means somebody knew from day one they were never going tobe able to pay back the loans." The bankers approved these loans and used the money to pay themselves bonuses and payed our government representatives to look the other way…that’s where we are…any suggestions for getting us out of the mess are welcome…but if you just want to play the blame game…where does that get us?

1. Do the math: how much money do you have and how much income do you get a month?
2. What is your monthly expenses for rent/mortgage, food, gas, and other basic necessities?
3. Pare down...do away with things you don't need and buy only things you absolutely need.
4. Compare your monthly income and your monthly expenses. Make sure your expenses do not exceed your income.
5. Enjoy the little basic things in life that are free: go for walks or a jog in the parks or beaches, share your time or expertise with others, cook healthy, fresh meals together with family or friends, learn to do something different that doesn't cost much, spend some quiet time on your own or with a group...
Good luck!
I get many comments from people that want Obama signs, but have not been able to get one - either the order is taking a while to get processed and shipped, or they are unable to get to a campaign headquarters to get a sign, or their local headquarters are all out. This post walks you through the steps to create your own Obama signs.
First, you will need a version of the sign that you can download and print out. I’ve got several versions available for free download - some of the more popular ones are below…
The letter size signs can be printed out on just about any personal printer. Some consumer printers are capable of printing the larger tabloid size, though probably not most. If your printer cannot print the larger size don’t worry - almost all print/copy shops can print tabloid size.
I used FedEx Office (formerly Kinkos) to print out my signs, as they had a simple to use online printing site that let me upload the PDFs (I went with the larger tabloid size) directly to the website and pick them up at my local FedEx Office. Their online tool allowed me to pick out the type of paper - for signs I’d recommend a thicker cardstock paper (I opted for a glossy cardstock). The cost of the tabloid size printout was about $3.
Here’s the sign as it was printed…
If you want to put the sign outside, I’d strongly recommend laminating it. To make sure it is weather proof you will want to make sure that the laminate overlaps the edges of the sign making a water tight seal. To do this, I trimmed off the white edges from the printout and did the lamination myself (again I did mine at FedEx Office for about $4, though most copy shops can do lamination).
Below is my laminated version of the sign…
I opted to put my sign out in my front yard. Since I didn’t have anything to hang it from, I decided to stake it into the ground. I happened to have an old sign that I was able to use, though I think these go for about $3 at home improvement stores (maybe less if you can just get the metal posts)…
I use a wide transparent packing tape to adhere the metal posts to the back of the sign (I didn’t use the original “open house” part of the sign). Below is the attached sign, ready to go…
All that is left is to put the completed sign out in the yard…
If you have any comments, tips or suggestions for other supports feel free to leave a comment below.
Barak your too damn smart for America. There just arent enough of us who can truely appreciate what your going to do for this country, this why you need to dumb down your message a bit. You need to reach out to the "low-info" voter. You need to talk to the people who dont care and are too busy to care and this is what I suggest:
An age old trick by Republicans to portray themselves as being more patriotic than Democrats. McCain and Republicans cannot boast of any achievement after 8 years of Bush administration - be it Education, Social Security, Healthcare, Economy. You name it, they have blown it up.
The only thing they could talk about is the Iraq-war and that too by linking it with War on Terror. McCain campaign is continuing Carl Rove's campaign tactics by:
1. Playing fear tactics by talking about Iraq war in the same breadth as War on Terror.
2. By suggesting that somehow they are being more pro-Army by supporting Iraq-War.
3. By suggesting that since they support Army, they are more patriotic.
Obama should respond by adopting the following tactics:
1. Whenever someone talks about surge, refute it completely by arguing that sending 1 million soldiers would quell the violence but should it be done? Surge has worked or not is not the point - it is ridiculous and bolsterous - a completely irrelevant and useless metric to judge the merits of this war.
2. By saying that Quelling violence is Iraq was/is NOT the goal.
3. By saying that Iraq-war was wrong and is wrong because it is continuing to allow Al-Qaeda to become stronger.

You can comment on someone's personal blog by using the WRITE A COMMENT ON THIS POST option.
A blog can be postied in multiple places. (See CREATING YOUR BLOG PAGE). When you comment on a post, every page it has been posted to will see that comment.
This is a good feature for many reasons, but if the comment you have is something more personal to the person who posted it, I suggest you email the person instead of posting a comment.
To email that person, click on the person's display name at the top of the post. You will see their blog page (if they have one). From there you can click to see their profile. Sometimes you can send them a message directly. If that is not available, you can send a friend request and put your message in the comment fields. They will be able to see your message when they receive notification of your request.
Keep in mind, some people will NOT accept every friend request they receive. Don't feel bad if someone chooses not to be "your friend". There are valid reasons why people choose not to add friends. Please respect their wishes.
Have something you want to share with others? Perhaps why you support Obama, some great links, or just some concerns you have. A great way to do this is by creating a blog page, where you can express your thoughts and share it with others.
On the right side of your dashboard you will see the icon with a plus sign next to it for MY BLOG. If you haven't created a blog page, there will be an option to create one. Setup is very simple.
Once you have a blog page, people who click on your display name from another blog will see your blog before they see your profile.
Writing and managing your blog are pretty self-explanatory but I do have some tips for you.
When you write a blog, you have the ability to post it on up to 10 group blogs as well. Keep in mind, some groups do monitor the blogs and may deny your post on that group's page. It's a great feature to be able to share your thoughts with many people but do consider the groups you are posting to. Some of them may want to keep the information in line with the issues/locality that they were created for.
You can edit your blog and even change the groups it posts to but keep in mind that you cannot change the date it was created. On larger groups that receive many blogs a day, your post may get "lost" in the blog page world!
If your blog pertains to a date specific event/happening, you may want to delete it when that date passes. You can do this under the manage blog option.
NOTE ON COMMENTS. If someone posts a comment on your blog post, that comment WILL show on every page you posted the blog to.
Events can be created for two basic uses: show support for Obama wherever you are and actual events you can attend. We hope you will find events to participate in!
Joining an event is easy. When you see one you are interested in, click on the DETAILS screen where you can sign up. In some cases, you will receive an invitation to an event or see one posted on blogs. Clicking on the link will bring you to the sign up screen. I like to leave a comment about the event for the host and let them know where I am from.
Creating events is easy too. There is an EVENTS icon on the right side of your dashboard with a plus sign next to it. Click on the plus sign and you will see an option to create an event. Follow the prompts to create your event.
You will be asked to enter your zipcode. By doing this, the system will automatically post your event on profiles within 100 miles of your location. (These show up under EVENTS NEAR ME on your profile). They will also show up when searching events in your local area and under your state pages on my. BO. If you want this event to be something ANYONE can join, you can put that on the LOCATION NAME line but keep in mind that it won't show up on pages outside your local area.
When you create your event, you can choose to list it on the sites of any/all of the groups you belong to. Please note that some groups are set up to approve or deny your post. You can go back into your event and add new groups anytime before your event ends. The system will send out a reminder to your attendees, but you can also send out a personal thank you to everyone too. If someone leaves a comment you want to respond to, you can use the email attendees option to send them a message but BEWARE -- make SURE you uncheck all or everyone will see your personal message!! (I did that once and it is embarrassing!)
IF YOU HAVE A VERY LONG RAMBLING POST YOU CAN CONSOLIDATE IT BY PUTTING A PORTION OF IT IN THE LOWER BOX WHERE YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO "EXTEND POST TEXT". HERE I'LL SHOW YOU BY WRITING IN THE EXTEND BOX AND WHEN IT IS POSTED IT WILL SAY READ MORE.

Joining groups from your area or that pertain to the passionate causes you support is another great way to meet people and network. The more groups you belong to, the more people you can directly share important information with.
There are many groups out there. On the right side of your dashboard, there is a GROUPS icon with a plus sign next to it. Click on the word GROUPS and you will have an option to find people. You can search by keyword, zipcode, or by state. Some groups are national, others are local. You can join as many groups as you want, but as with the friends list, a few people join every group they can "just because". Local groups are a great way to meet people or find events YOUR AREA.
When you view the groups main page, you should see an option to JOIN GROUP. If the group is listed as PRIVATE, your membership is pending until the administer of the group approves you. If the groups is PUBLIC, your membership is immediate.
As a member you can email important messages to everyone else in that group. When you receive a group email, PLEASE BE AWARE that if you reply to that message everyone else in that group may see the reply, not just the person you responding to. Group emails are great for sharing great links, information, and inviting people to your events.
A great way to meet people on the network is by becoming friends. You will be able to email your friends using the my.barackobama.com message option.
People will find you and ask to be your friend. Some will even send you a message when they do. To see the other person's profile just click on their Obama display name. After checking out their profile, you can then approve or deny them as your friend. Unfortunately, there are some people who send out friend requests "just because". They end up with so many friends, that when you click on their profile, your computer may "lock up" due to how long it takes to load their profile up.
If you see a profile of someone that you want to be friends with, you can send them a request message by using the ADD x TO YOUR FRIENDS NETWORK option located on the right side of their profile. I always send a note with it, something personal so they know I'm legit and not just out there to get huge numbers of friends.
There are two basic ways to get friends. On the right side of your dashboard, there is a FRIENDS icon with a plus sign next to it. Click on the plus sign and you will have an option to find people. You can search for friends in different ways, but the most common is by zipcode or nearby.
The other common way people find friends is by using the blogs located on each news items that is posted on the website. Sometimes you will see a posting from someone and want to know more about them. When you click on their display name, it will bring you to their personal blog pages where there is an option to VIEW FULL PROFILE. If they don't have a personal blog page, you will go directly to their profile.
All about using blogs will be posted in a separate post.
Step 1. You must be registered to vote. (Sorry, if you haven't done that by Feb. 4th, you may have missed it.)
Step 2. Locate your Precinct #. Most likely you will easily find this on your Voter Registration card.
If you don't have that handy, you will need to do a few intermediate steps.
Contact your County Clerk. Some counties have websites, listed on this page: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/links.shtml#County
Contact info for the rest are here: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/county.shtml
Counties with websites often have Voter Registration Database Searches available to assist in locating your precinct #.
Step 3. Once you know your precinct #, find your polling location for that precinct.
Again, the website may provide this. It's also in your local papers, or you can get it from your local Library. Some County Democratic Parties also provide this info. http://www.txdemocrats.org/the_party/county_parties/
Step 4. GO VOTE for Barack Obama on Tuesday, March 4th at your polling location! Vote between 7 and 7 - the earlier the better! (You may be able to vote early, but don't miss the caucus, only on March 4th.)
While you are there, confirm where that precinct will be caucusing that evening (often the same location).
Step 5. Arrive at the caucus site by 7pm (still on March 4th) so that you can attend the caucus which starts at 7:15pm.
Sign in on the sign-in sheet with your voter information (e.g. name, address, phone, etc.) and your Presidential Preference for Barack Obama! Wait for further instructions from the Chair.
When you get a chance, speak up and be counted. Your voice makes a difference!
If you are interested in perhaps being a delegate, you can get more info from: http://txdems.3cdn.net/c5340309860552f2bc_ilm6bzewq.pdf
This is an unofficial collection of reference materials and links being compiled, edited, assembled, and maintained by volunteers active in the Obama Rapid Response [ORR] group. Join that group (braving voluminous email) to help monitor, report, and correct misinformation in a timely manner.

"It will take your time, your energy, and your advice - to push us forward when we're doing right, and to let us know when we're not."
U.S. Senator Barack Obama, Feb 10th, 2007
The campaign maintains extensive official materials, from the Blueprint for Change and the various position papers to straightforward fact-check resources, (but sometimes what you're looking for seems hard to find so we're adding "pointers.") The Obama Rapid Response blog is becoming cumbersome to peruse; links to other sites, such as articles, can be almost buried amid the vast number of matches when you do an online search. Search engines are great. I use them in combination with sources such as Wikipedia all the time; their reach is encyclopedic and you're likely to learn even more than you expected. The intent here is to make some of that even easier to "discover" by collecting a slightly annotated index while limiting the scope.
So, within the context of the MyBO website you can now use the blog search tool with just a few keywords and find links and answers stored right here. If you don't find them you can ask the intrepid, colletic activists of the ORR group to aid in the quest, and I will endeavor to get that information edited into this blog as rapidly as possible. This is merely a compilation of their efforts and answers - if you want to help assemble and/or distribute information the place to be is the ORR.
