I am more and more convienced daily that Obama is the choice for me. I am not that INTO politics (or at least not anymore) after seeing out country go to shambles over the last few years. And after the Florida incident where they made Bush President. I fear something like that is going to happen again. I plan to vote Obama because I simply DO NOT WANT McCain as my leader.
I hope there are many others out there that share my thoughts! WE NEED SOMETHING ... and CHANGE is it, I believe. I also believe, in my heart, that McCain is a puppet for the Bush ERA.
I WILL Vote ... And I WILL Vote Obama.

This video that I compiled to accompany my original song chronicles what happens when voters are defrauded and votes are left on the table.
The title of the song is 'We Were Robbed! (The G.O.P.)'. It can be found here: We Were Robbed! (The G.O.P.)
We Were Robbed! (The G.O.P.)
The video for We Were Robbed! (The G.O.P.) serves as a reminder that the last 8 years have been run by an illegitimate administration that was thrust into power on the backs of 19000 eligible voters in Florida that were illegally removed from the voter rolls. This was conspired by Jeb Bush, Katherine Harris, Clayton Roberts, Karl Rove, and Database Technologies.
People, you have to get out and vote on November 4 en masse and don't let it be close this time.
The Bush Legacy:Disenfranchisement, 9/11, Enron, Worldcom, Bear Stearns, Countrywide, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, AIG Restructuring, An Iraq War that still has not been Justified after 5+ years, $4 gasoline, Patriot Act, Record Foreclosures, Rising Unemployment, Illegal Surveillance, Tax Payer funded bailouts for Mortgage Companies, Patriot Act. By the way, I have not heard of any bailouts for taxpayers struggling to pay their mortgages.
It's time to say Eight is Enough! We Were Robbed!

Here we go again… Every four years during the Presidential Debate cycle we hear about how the Democratic nominee for President must not falter on any topic but that because expectations are so low for the Republican nominee that all the Republican must do is avoid a major gaffe.
There's more...
The Internet is a funny thing...it has so much information, and yet so much misinformation! Case in point...at my school, we can sit around having great discussions about all kinds of things. The other day I was saying I only go back to visit Texas (I moved east three years ago) about once a year to see my accountant. A colleague said - wow...must be a great accountant. So I mentioned that I own a little land where they have drilled for natural gas and am part-owner of an oil well - so the accountant in TX knows how to deal with that on our taxes. (I waited for the question of if I rode a horse to work when I lived there - LOL).
So - this led to a discussion of drilling off-shore for oil and what I thought about it - and I said it was a terrible idea! I brought up Gore's Challenge to America for 100% clean energy in ten years... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAnQ1cFA_zM
Wind and solar are the way to go...did you hear about Bloomburg's idea to put wind turbines on the skyscrapers of NYC? What a great idea! How about solar panels on the roofs of all the townhouses and apartments that are being built for affordable housing in NJ? I wish I had solar panels on roof of MY townhome - but it goes against the covenants.
So - most of the people were listening and agreeing. Then one guy said "yeah - but it takes years to recoup solar panels....and while we're fighting about drilling off-shore, the Chinese are already doing slant drilling off the coast of Florida, taking OUR oil and selling it back to us". HUNH?? So I searched - and sure enough - found that rhetoric on a bunch of right-wing websites - none with hard data to back it up. But that's the scary thing...so many people don't need the hard data - they believe what they want to believe. How do we fight the untruths?
An unorthodox manuever to put the election out of reach.
One thing that is rarely done at this stage of a presidential election is the announcement of potential cabinet members and administration appointees. Some would call it presumptuous. But at this point in the 2008 race we have to act like we intend to win, not like we are playing defense to McCain the rest of the way. Here is how to do it.
Tag line: Ready on Day 1? We were ready yesterday.
Hold a surprise press conference and announce these members of an Obama cabinet:
Hillary Clinton: Secretary of State (No brianer)
Wesley Clark: Secretary of Defense (Managed Balkans war in 90s with no casualties)
Colin Powell: Homeland Security Secretary (Just plain awesome)
Micheal Bloomberg: Secretary of the Treasury (Help with those who are fiscal cons./social libs.)
Evan Bayh: Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (Help in Indiana)
Ted Strickland: Secretary of Labor (win Ohio and Michigan with this)
Al Gore: Secretary of Energy or EPA Director (No brainer)
Bill Richardson: Immigration Secretary (No brainer)
Bill Clinton: Ambassador to the United Nations (Good relationship with foreign leaders)
Of course you'd have to get all these folks to agree to these positions if Obama were elected... which I think wouldn't be that hard. The Republicans have NO ONE with comparable national exposure, name recognition or popularity to this bunch. People would take one look at that line up and realize the nation would be in the best possible hands. Palin would be an afterthought and McCain's experience wouldn't amount to a hill of beans next to Wes Clark and Colin Powell. It would show Obama is willing to bring together people of both parties to effect the change he is looking for.
The effect on the polls would be immediate and irreversable by any smear campaign. You might be able to smear Obama alone, but Obama and this gang would be unstoppable.
Just do it.
I first wrote this in 2004. It still seems relevant today:
In the spirit of the election season, I would like to suggest a novel way to test one’s "patriotism":
First, agree that a good definition of patriotism is supporting policies one thinks are good for the country and opposing policies one thinks are bad, regardless of the political party responsible for the policies (i.e. putting patriotism ahead of politics).
Second, imagine that Al Gore, rather than George Bush, was elected in 2000 and all the policies and events that have happened since then have still happened.
Then, ask yourself if you would have the same attitudes about what has happened since Jan 20, 2001. For example, would you still favor or oppose the war in Iraq if Al Gore had been the one to initiate it? Would you still defend or attack the president’s record on terrorism, the economy, jobs, federal deficit, health care, etc. if this record was Al Gore’s rather than George Bush’s? (Would a movie critical of this record, like “Fahrenheit 9/11,” be a hit with Republicans rather than Democrats?)
If you (honestly) can say ‘yes’, that your opinion would not change, then you are putting patriotism ahead of politics. The vast majority would have to admit that the answer is ‘no’. If people say no, i.e. that their views on these policies would change based on the party of the person or people responsible for the policies, that would mean they are putting politics ahead of patriotism.
I would bet that right-wing talk radio and almost all politicians, among many others, would have to say no and admit that their views would change if Gore, rather than Bush, was responsible for these same policies.
This "test" might get people to think about what drives their opinions about government policies--their political affiliation, or true patriotism—and consider putting aside political biases for less partisan evaluations.
I am tired of losing. Though I consider myself an independent, I have voted for a Democratic Presidential Candidate in every single election since 1984 (Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore, Kerry – pretty slim pickings when you see it in print). Unfortunately, the Obama campaign is heading towards a train wreck unless it initiates a drastic change in its approach. It’s quite possible they will be the biggest losers of all time – and so will we. Here is why:
I am tired of losing – get this damn thing on track!
Before I begin, I'd like to say that I almost didn't get to go. I wasn't in the first round of ticket recipients and had given up hope of getting a credential. I've volunteered quite a bit for the Obama campaign and was sure I was a shoe-in. When I didn't get the credential the first time I was angry, upset, and felt left out. Being a person who wears her emotions on her sleeve, I let everyone know how angry and disappointed I was. I tried to be a trooper but it was hard. Many of my fellow volunteers didn't get a credential in the first round and we all expressed various emotions. Most of us ended up getting credentials in the second round and were enormously grateful. I know there were hundreds of thousands of people around the US who would have loved to be present, but couldn't by virtue of not living in Denver and the surrounding metro area. I will never take for granted the fact that I was fortunate to be present and to receive a credential.
My new profile picture was taken at the acceptance speech while in my crazy convention hat and while I was in my coveted and oft-mentioned seat in the legendary south stands.
Since McCain believes in global warming, and has a platform, which includes ways to curb carbon emissions, and investing in renewable energy resources, global warming hasn’t been much of an issue this election. Of course Obama would do more to curtail global warming, stricter standards, and McCain is only pledging 1/5 of what Obama plans on spending in renewable resources, but with that said, McCain’s VP, which will only be one heartbeat away from the presidency, doesn’t believe global warming is manmade.
Palin disagrees with McCain, and the world’s top scientists, that global warming is caused by humans: “A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man-made," she told Newsmax in September.
Basically, Palin thinks 2+2=5. She doesn’t believe in the scientific fact that man is warming the planet. Why aren’t the democrats going after her on this? I’ve only seen the democrats talking points regarding her experience, however, since Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth,’ and the mainstreaming of the ‘going green’ movement, and ‘we can solve it,’ campaigns, I think middle America, and common folks out there would like to know that Palin doesn’t believe in global warming,
The Obama campaign needs to put out a campaign ad out yesterday that basically shows Obama, “I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message…” Cut to Al Gore, “A few years ago I made the documentary ‘An Inconvenient Truth,’ my motivations were to educate folks out there that the globe is warming at an alarming rate, all the world’s top scientists agree on this, and believe we must act now to curtail carbon emissions, in order to stop global warming. We’ve made a lot of progress with the WeCanSolve it campaign. Republicans, Democrats, and Independents came together pledging to do their part in saving our precious planet.
With that said, Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Sara Palin, doesn’t believe in this simple scientific fact, that humans are causing the planet to warm, and humans will be responsible for saving it. Palin not only disagrees with over world’s top scientists that global warming is caused by man, but she even disagrees with John McCain. To think, that someone such as Palin, as VP, would be so close to the presidency, and doesn’t believe in science, is a scary thought. All we have fought for in the environmental movement will be shattered if Palin gets into power.
That’s why I’m supporting Barack Obama, he not only believes in global warming, but he proposes more solutions, and will provide more funding than any other president in history, to curb our carbon emissions, and invest in renewable energy resources. Our planet is peril, and Barack Obama understands that. With Sarah Palin, you get more of the same Bush type polices that threaten our environment…”
And AD featuring Gore making the case against Palin on global warming would be very effective. This should have been done yesterday.
One of the first things that is taught in management school is that the best managers select the best people and learn how to delegate. They want people working for them who know more about different areas of responsibility than they do. No one can be an expert in everything so having advisors you respect and trust is essential to being an effective leader.
That being said I often feel that Presidential candidates should name their cabinets before election day. For one thing it will accurately reflect on their true policies and intentions and it will also give us an idea of their judgement. When we elect a President we are getting a whole team from the Vice President, to Secretary of State, Attoney General and all the other cabinet positions.
I think Barak can really solidify this election if he were to announce some key cabinet positions that he would fill if elected.
Hillary could be an excellent Attorney General or possibly his first Supreme Court Nominee.
Wesley Clark would be an excellent Secretary of Defense.
Bill Richardson would make a terrific Secretary of State.
Al Gore could be Energy Secretary and manage our move toward renewable energy.
If these people were to get on board and Barak announced these positions before the election I think there would be no stopping him.
Friday night, just before midnight. The AP is reporting a leak--Obama apparently chose Joe Biden as his Vice Presidential candidate. Let's see . . .
Biden: DC insider, has been active (read responsible?) in U.S. foreign policy and it's more of the same-o, same-o (what CHANGE?) older, rich, connected, bureaucratic, white guy . . . vs.
former Vice President Al Gore who got the country educated and moving on global warming and environmental issues--oh, yeah, and he won the Presidential Election in 2000. (Can't even go there.) So, like, 50% of the voters voted for him and feel they were robbed. And, everyone saw that he finally loosened up and became accessible. Plus he won that glamorous Oscar for the documentary everyone's talking about.
Well, he would've made a great goodwill embassador as Vice President. And garnered a lot of votes. (sigh)
Back to the future: now the word is that Obama will announce his choice tomorrow morning. (No, I'm not checking my email at 4:00am Pacific Time. Been there. Done that.)
Does anybody else just hate this campaign starting out with a snickering game of secrets and false starts?
I was thinking...
Does anyone else find it strange that the man that gave Barack Obama a huge break -- the keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention -- endorsed him early along with Ted Kennedy giving him big name credentials before his nomination seemed to be a foregone conclusion, and has spent his own PAC's money to defend Barack against "swiftboat" type attacks does not have a speaking slot at the convention. Of course we're talking about Vietnam War vet Sen. John Kerry. I'm just saying! I can hear the convention speech now, "Four years ago I stood before you and proclaimed 'help is on the way'. Well, today I am hear to proudly say.. help has ARRIVED and HIS NAME IS BARACK OBAMA!"
I've read many detractors of the idea on various posts, but they all seem to be Republicans using lines like "I hope it's him; that will kill Obama." If Republicans don't like it, there must be a reason. I like it (thought I've liked almost all of the picks) for several reasons.
All in all, I think this would be one of the top picks. Right now, though I predicted heavily Clinton, my list of who ought to be veep goes as follows...
1) Wes Clark -- vetran status, military experience, and change to Washington
2) John Kerry -- see above
3) Joe Biden -- many of the above for Kerry, but without the intangibles of just having been in the race four years ago
4) Hillary Clinton -- read other blogs for this one
5) Bill Richardson -- tons of experience, good speaker, good debater, western swing states
All the rest really don't even come close to this top five. I know we want change, but we don't need more inexperience, and we don't need a boring, expected announcement (AKA Bayh).
Just a thought.

As you all probably know, we've been given the chance to know Barack Obama's vice presidential pick before the "general public". I know its exciting, and certainly, I was one of the first to sign up when I received the email. It sounds great -- expecially for those of us who have been chomping at the bit to know who will be joining Barack on our buttons and bumper stickers. The only problem is, it's not going to be THAT big of a deal to get the email or text message.
I'm sure many members of the press will have gotten the information before hand through their contacts and we will probably know a few hours to a day ahead of time. There will probably be headlines like, "Obama expected to text _________________________ is his VP pick today". Even if nothing gets leaked, and it really happens the way they say it will, members of the media will also be on that list and be writing their headlines ASAP. So, unless you are permanently strapped to your cell phone or computer, you're more likely to see the headline on your internet providers main page before you even log into your email.
Either way, it's a genious move. Get some cell numbers to call and bug for money, get some more publicity and buzz as the talking heads spend all week talking about the move, and show how change oriented and computer savvy the campaign is. Can McCain do this? I doubt it. If his people did a similar thing, he'd probably be the last to know who is VP was! It would at least open up the jokes about his age even more.
So, rumors are abound in the blogosphere. Many point to Hillary, saying that the reason Bill wasn't in the official press announcement of speakers for the convention -- it's been stated he will speak Wednesday before the veep -- is because he will really be taking the Tuesday slot reserved for Hillary, and she will be taking the Wednesday speach as VP. There is a lot pointing toward this resolution to Clinton v Obama, but we've had tons of evidence for this veep and that, and still nothing.
The other most popular rumor -- that he had already chosen Feingold and was just jerking us around to make it a surprise -- seems out the door. Feingold praised McCain and got headlines for it. He assured the public that McCain in power would be a maverick and would piss off the conservative right. That may help increase right wing distain for McCain and actually help in the polls, but at the same time reassured independents making it a crappy way to help Obama. So, he must be out.
I read an interesting one about Caroline Kennedy being named to the vetting committee to find someone better than herself -- Obama's first choice according to the rumor -- and she's been unsuccessful, so Obama is going to force her into action. The theory states that she is definately an outsider, brings the Kennedy brand, the Clinton people will understand picking THIS women and not be upset, and that she's really, really, really smart. I'm not buying this one. Of course with my luck lately, it probably will turn out to be true.
The final rumor is Al Gore. Appearently, he's said some things recently that contradicted his "I can do more good outside of government" and indicate he'd be willing to do America's number two job twice. I doubt this as well. This theory states that Gore is hungry for the White House, and a run in 2016 after veeping for Obama for 8 years is his best chance. I don't like that thought. It seems voters, especially Democratic leaders, would look at the ticket wishing it were reversed, killing enthusiasm for Obama.
I'm not hearing much on Kaine. He seems kinda lame and inexperienced, not to mention unliked by Obama's base because of his record on abortion and not fighting the death penalty. Then there's Bayh, who still may be the front runner if you go with conventional wisdom. What Obama keeps showing us, though, is he is NOT the conventional candidate and is not running the conventional campaign. Just look at Monday's convention schedule. Michelle is getting top billing that evening -- highly unusual. It's a good sign to the world that women are not just there to look pretty and hug the president when he's feeling down. She will be a key aid to him as a president, as she should be, and it will set a precedent for future first ladies. Perhaps we may see Michelle in the Senate some day in her own quest to be the first female president. Stranger things have happened.
Well, looks like we're in for an interesting two weeks. Stay tuned to your email and cell phones.
