I knew this would happen. More interested in the emo of the rant rather than the issue that the ranter was concerned!
At least the "tea party" was just a simple PROTEST and not a RIOT!
People are falling for it, as I was afraid of that happening!
Too much amygdalary (limbic system) politics!
Please calm down! Don't fall for the MSM's tricks, but listen to the argument of the people who are concerned, then agree or disagree!
EMK
Just so you know, while I don't get my news from MSNBC, I do watch it to see what the pundits are saying and to catch what Obama, McCain, Biden, and Palin are all saying at their rallies. Two of my most favorite liberals in the world happen to work for MSNBC. They would be Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. Little sidenote on Maddow, I have been a gigantic fan of hers for years thanks to my one-time obsession with Air America Radio. She and Mike Malloy kept me sane following 2004's election.
From time-to-time I'll flip it on FOX News just to see what the maniacs are up to, especially if comedian Bill O'Really is on. And finally there's CNN and while I cannot stand the regular hosts over at CNN, I love their pundits. Love them! But the pundits are not the reason why I love CNN. Nope. I love CNN because of two factors: 1) John King's "Magic Board"! I fucking love that thing and I want one in my house. It is my opinion that King's board has single-handedly influenced most of the internet's electoral-college toys that are now found everywhere. Seriously, they're copies of King's gizmo. Something that cracks me up is how poorly of a job MSNBC has done in coming up with their own "Magic Board"! They have some crappy little touch screen with telestrator functions and Microsoft's 'Surface' software. It looks like crap when you consider that King can zoom in and zoom out just by waving his hands, not to mention that he can close in on ANY county in the U.S. and retrieve up-to-the-minute poll figures or get the percentage in which single-white-women-students voted for Clinton in 1992 from said county! While the MSNBC screen can only make the drawing lines blue or red. Poor Chuck Todd. He's a goddamn genius in my opinion and he's stuck with technology from 1996 while that creature John King who wears more make-up than Bill Mahr gets the screen from 'Minority Report'.
I can honestly say I've never experienced a range of emotions like the ones I've felt these past weeks.
I was hanging on pins and needles all through the Barack/Hillary primary. Yes, I was for Hillary, and now I am proudly and loudly for Barack.
Then the saga of McCain began, with his slanderous television advertising, his bizarre VP pick, his perpetually erratic behavior, and his constant bending the truth.
My gas and grocery bills are outrageous.
My life savings is at risk, and all Congress and Wall Street are able to do are point fingers at each other.
We're still at war, and although it breaks my heart, I always stop to pay homage when I read of another soldier coming home to rest. We never see THESE images on television. Shame on the Bush administration for blocking the truth. But then again, all Bush has done for eight years in Washington is block the truth.
I am really tired. Some nights I can't sleep. I'm glued to the news. I'm making phone calls for Barack, donating money, buying merchandise, and I want to help on Election Day to make it easier for people to get to the polls. I will be voting as soon as the polls open in Indiana.
I don't expect Barack has all the answers, but he is the voice of change, and that is like a breath of fresh air to me.
How is everyone else doing? I'd really like to know, if anyone wants to write a reply.
I'm the father of a toddler. I love it (well sometimes). Today at the playground a common occurance happened--the traditional fighting over the toys. What caught my attention was that even though my son was happy playing with someone else's toys, as soon as someone dared to play with his toys he lost it. I would try to distract him saying that he has a toy and isn't that good enough, blah blah blah, but the pull to keep "ownership" in light have already having the resource highlighed for me that something emotional (not necessarily irational) was going on.
There is a way where our emotional attachments intwine with our fear of loss at a very early age. We pin identity and other emotional security onto "owning", and the we have such a strong fear of loosing that security that we hunt out additional resources to shore up our defenses.
In capitalistic societies this is played upon, and manipulated from very early ages. For example, seldom are children given the example of doing something together. My experience in the playground is that when conflict over a toy arrives (maybe b/c this is just easier on the parents) the solution is that 1 child has to loose. Today in the park, a boy just starting playing with the other end of a toy that my son was hording. They truly shared it as opposed to the way it is usually inpretted which is to mean "take turns". Why can't everyone have a turn at the same time when feasible? But because we segregate as opposed to truly share, we compound the fear and distruct and the attachment of security onto the items we hold identity with.
It is pretty clear to me at this point in history that we have all been duped. We are playing into a system that needs us to feel insecure in the face (stark reality even) that there is really more than we all need. But we hve been taught that the shoring up of resources is not only for short term defenses, but is actually the point of "the game" of capitalism, so that shoring up is no longer goal of protecting security, but IS the goal in and of itself.
Like I said, it isn't just about the politics, but also about the way we ARE with each other.

People like this are usually negative types who feel very insecure, unloved and undervalued, and who fear taking action because they fear the consequences of those actions and do nothing instead. They feel sorry for themselves for four main reasons:
1. They feel impotent to affect their situation. Something has happened which makes them feel overwhelmed or victimised and they believe they cannot cope, especially if they are dealing with someone whom they perceive to have more power over them, or whom they are trying to impress without success. It is easy to stop any personal actions to change the situation by replacing them with feelings of regret, weakness and impotence.
2. They lack confidence and esteem, the most likely reason. It is difficult to feel good about life and ourselves when we have no confidence, no self-belief and a lot of doubt and insecurity. So we would prefer to feel sorry for ourselves because it stops us examining the situation, the options we have and taking any action. It also stops us taking responsibility for ourselves and keeps us in fear and insecurity.
3. When we have not been affirmed or reinforced by others we value. Feeling sorry for ourselves gets us the attention we seek while keeping us in victim mode. It also puts all the responsibility and blame for our situation on others and keeps us feeling defenceless, while also getting the continuous attention we crave from them.
4. When we believe we are insignificant and have no value. We then feel sorry for ourselves because we do not know how to improve our situation. Feeling sorry confirms the low opinion we already have and keep us in that negative mode until we are shown some value by the people we care about and whom we perceive to matter..
Now that Hillary Clinton is asking her supporters to become Obama supporters, and as these new Obama supporters start joining our groups, I created a blog post I thought addressed the understandable emotions we still have and the future. Enjoy.

Hillary and Positive Campaigning
As a reformed Republican, I understand the high level of emotions our race against Hillary Clinton created. Senator Obama brought me to the Democratic Party after 27 years as a Republican. It's been 16 months of grueling, face to face, heated campaigning. During this time it's been difficult to remain positive and respectful, as Senator Obama has requested we do.
When our football team wins, we often get in the faces of opposition fans. It's only natural in our competitive society. Just as it's easy to "go negative" against an opponent, it's easy to gloat when we win.
At this moment, though, we are in a different situation. We didn't win against an opposition party, nor against a set of policies we were strongly against. Instead, our candidate was selected over the other candidates, who all had similar positions, within the same party. We're all part of the same team, now with the same goal, to get Senator Obama elected to the Presidency of the United States.
So, in the name of "What Would Obama Do?", I suggest we put the past completely behind us and join with the Hillary supporters who are now Obama supporters. Senator Obama has asked us to do it, and it only makes sense to welcome new team members with open arms. Close your eyes, breathe deep, release the past, and let's move on to November as a unified group!
Yes We Can, Together!
A judge might say Hillary Clinton, "opened the door" to the war on words. She has recently shown her talents by having a "sore-loser" meltdown. The words of "SHAME ON YOU" were heard not so long ago by Bill Clinton to a CNN reporter. The link is provided below. Move to the time frame of 2:00 and you will hear Bill Clinton's same words, "Shame on you." Additionally, CNN ran a story a few days ago which showed her borrowing the same words from Bill Clinton, as well as John Edwards.

The "Shame" verbiage is something Bill may have said many times to Hillary and it's all -- garbage in, garbage out. She is having something along the lines of displaced anger and is initiating a calculated fight with our candidate. Her anger may stem from her losing this primary, or it may stem from Bill's relationships with many other women... she allegedly slapped him when she found out of his Monica tryst -- if there is any shame to be had, it most certainly goes to Bill Clinton.
The silver lining here, is that while speaking to the press (while having her calculated meltdown, "showing emotion"-- remember the staged tears?) Hillary Clinton was holding -- in her hand -- a Barack Obama mailing, so we know they're reaching people. These points obviously "pushed her buttons" and everyone knows that when one is upset or angered, they're off their game. So, to the people who worked on that mailing, OUTSTANDING! You truly Obamafied Rodham Clinton.
Picking a fight. The war of words she stated at the end of her rant, were that along the lines of a grade school fight... "meet me in Ohio, and let's have a debate about your tactics,"..." Our candidate was going to be there WITHOUT her shout out; however, not to debate "tactics" but rather to debate the issues of the Economy, Iraq, Immigration, Homeland Security, Healthcare, Education, and many more that are of the utmost importance. Clinton has threatened a fight. She chose to fight in Iraq, and now she is chosing to fight in Ohio. We've had enough fighting, especially in Iraq, we don't need it while chosing a leader for our country.
Clinton has had more than a few incidents surrounding her campaign, wherein lives were put in danger, and now death. Enough fighting, enough war, enough death. Enough Hillary Clinton... let's wrap-up this primary and get our candidate to the White House!
Personal perception controls everything we do and defining perception seems easy on the surface. We perceive the world through our physical senses and therefore create a reality where we can function. This reality has certain basic rules upon which society is agreed, like up is up, down is down and humans walk upright on two legs! As everyone depends on their five senses (taste, sight, sound, touch and smell) to guide their emotions and physical needs, they create a world which is familiar and has rules each person can rely upon to actually work. Our ability to perceive is thus like a sixth sense which unifies all the others.
People tend to base their election votes primarily on emotion, though a little reasoning does come into it when they are fully aware of the facts relating to a particular candidate or party. Emotions play a big part in voting choice because we tend to be drawn to anything which makes us feel comfortable, secure, which reflects our values and aspirations and which feels inclusive to us.
1. COMFORT and SECURITY....Anything which makes us feel welcome, in alignment with its aims and objectives, will draw us towards it. There is no reasoning in comfort and security. That is pure emotion which makes sure that anxiety and fear are kept well away from us. We want that choice to give us that cosy feeling of having a friend on our side, someone who will always look after our interest, who will keep the bad days away and give us the reassurance that we will be safe under their wing. Hence people will gravitate towards candidates who seem to exude confidence and stability to provide the necessary feeling of security.
