How about we request the candidates accept a moratorium on using the other candidates name in any future advertising or debates?
We are running out of time, and the majority of Americans do not have a clue as to the specifics of what either candidate plans to do on any key issues. They have both wasted our time for months and months now talking about what the other did or did not do in the past. NO MORE! GIVE US A BREAK!
In order to make an INFORMED decision, simply tell the voters EXACTLY what your plan is on the key issues. That's it. The End. It's as Simple as that.
For the last two days now, Obama has been running a refreshingly clear ad that does NOT mention McCain at all. Hallelujah! He simply states HIS position on an economic issue and directs you to the website for a full explanation - probably the most effective political ad yet. Exactly what the general public needs to see.
Dear fellow Americans,
Some Questions Without Answers.
Do you have the real answers?
1. After watching the first three interviews of the Republican VP candidate,
what do you think the McCain Campaign will do concerning the Vice Presidential Debate?
2. Why do you think this Republican VP was truly chosen?
3. What do you like best about the Democratic VP candidate?
4. After watching the many interviews of the Democratic VP candidate, what do you think the Obama campaign will do concerning the Vice Presidential Debate?
I think, like in the case of this bailout plan from congress, that in order to know how the American people really feel that an independent company or such should establish a website for American’s to cast their vote on this and other similarly huge decisions. If each American registered on the site then they would only be able to cast single vote per issue. If they aren't sure what vote to cast then an undecided can be cast along with the submission of a short statement on why or what they would like to see to sway their vote. All of this info can be studied and brought to the bi-partisan drawing board to refine and put into law any bill of this sensitive nature.

i posted this on my facebook, and it's generated pretty good conversation, with some heat thrown back and forth, so i figured i's post it here...oddly enough, i haven't been to this page since they changed things, so it's like i'm new all over again...whatever the case, my passion has been renewed, reignited since the conventions
is the choice REALLY that difficult? honestly? is it not obvious that if you choose to vote for McCain, you are voting for at least four more years of the the eight we've just endured? McCain can try and latch onto the "Change" banner and throw Palin on the stage with himself every day, but does that change his positions? does that change his vision for America? honest to God people...just do the research...just dig a little and you will see that the McCain/Palin ticket isn't just lying about Obama's record and Obama's attitdue, but they are lying about their own... LYING...straight faced.... why does nobody care that they are lying? what is it you use to say, harv? and the peasants rejoice? i don't get it. listen...if you're happy with the place america is at, if you are happy with the direction we are currently heading, then McCain/Palin is your ticket. if you like reading about banks closing everyday, people losing their homes and everything they own, college students (speaking from experience) drowning in school loans, billions being spent in a war that should have never been waged, broken ties with all of the world, then McCain/Palin is your ticket...go for it real quick aside...on Iraq...it's pretty popular, always has been, to say that people who don't support the war, people who say we shouldn't be there are unpatriotic...i don't say this in vain, but for God's SAKE, people, don't you see that we aren't fighting for freedom there, we aren't fighting to protect America...it's the great lie force fed to us...if we truly cared about liberating oppressed people, why would we not be in Darfur, or Tibet, or one of the many countries that struggle with leadership like that of Saddam's...do you not understand that in our lifetime we will see this administration, surely Cheney, and possible Bush, charged with war crimes? it was all a lie, every readon they gave us for going was a lie...A LIE. it's not fighting for freedom..it's not defending America...God bless the people who volunteer to serve in the military, but this isn't what they volunteered to do...have you heard the story of the soldier who hired a hitman to shoot him in the leg so he wouldn't have to go back? or the guy who strapped a bag of tools to his back and jumped off a roof and crippled himself so he wouldn't have to go back. these people are destroying themselves...and it's our fault and if you're voting for the McCain/Palin ticket because ideologically you line up with them, then fine...but consider this...did you not line up with Bush for this reason...is that not what got him a second term? because the people who were against gay marriage, or abortion, came out in droves to push that idea? and has anything changed thanks to bush? i mean, more states offer gay marriage, and roe v. wade stands just as strong, even after bush appointed conservative judges... don't you get it? McCain's party will keep trying to sell this shit as gold. none of them have any desire to change what is...none of them want to overturn roe v. wade...if they did, why would you vote for them? if they did, they would never win another election... you're being played. we're being played. i can shamefully admit that i was played in 2004 and have regretted it ever since. change isn't lying about your record and not talking about the future. change isn't putting up a new face and a new banner. change is saying, "we shouldn't be happy with what is, but we should be striving for what we can be." change is pushing ourselves to go beyond ourselves, byond our limits on ourselves, to see this country, this world as bigger than my county line, and realize i have to change if i want things to be better. don't you see that's the choice. we all have to change if we want this country to, if we want it to be better. I'm a God-fearing, Jesus follower who believes abortion should be legal, because my faith shouldn't govern my country. I believe gay people should have the same civil liberties as straight people, whether or not i agree with their lifestlye, because condemning and smearing isn't loving my neighbour...because it's the next step in the evolution of civil rights...CIVIL, not Christian. I believe it's wrong for our leaders to use our military to strong arm themselves around the world, screwing us at home all the while. I believe in equal rights to every faith, because the Lord of mine told me to love. I'm voting for Barack Obama because i am finding the courage to change myself, and hoping to help change my country for tomorrow.
... it seems the only thing that makes sense is electing Sens. Obama and Biden into the White House this November.
It took me a little while -- OK, 18 months -- to decide for whom I'd throw my weight behind in this Presidential election, but especially in light of recent poor choices made on the Republican ticket (and the lack of a viable third party option), what kind of fool would I be to not support these two gentlemen?
More thoughts on this later, but one thing is most important:
Barack Obama and I share a birthday.
'Nuff said.
When a couple of co-Obamaphiles amd myself were here in NYC in the freezing cold, walking around putting up posters, talking to citizens about their primary choices, we always thought Biden was the best choice. You would need someone from the old school that could fit into the new school. After the fiasco with the Intelligent, speak well, I still for some reason liked Biden and I really know nothing about him, except he was Senator of Delaware, and he seemed to know everyone.
Now that I know his tenure spans 35 years, he is not only known nationwide, he's respected worldwide, and most of all, he has a mind of his own. His morality fits the bid under the umbrella so change. His credentials fit the bid for the occupancy of the office. I love his personality, even though I've only seen it during the shortlived debates.
I am looking forward to continuing the campaign for change, and I welcome my first choice FOR VP:
JOSEPH BIDEN !!!

Hello,
The name's Kevin Hicks. I'm a gangly, eccentric, eighteen year old who loves to sit around and let his mind wander in whatever direction it goes. Sometimes it drifts to the more important aspects of life, such as the future of this country. It's simple. It comes down to this: are we, the new generation and the future of the United States of America, going to do nothing but stand around and "hope" for change to happen? "Hope" is a word used throughout this campaign, but it isn't half of what is required to pull this country out of the mire that it's in. We've been through eight years of hell and it's about time that we take action to revise the sickly condition of politics.
Damn, I mean look: we have technology at our disposal, and by this I mean accessibility to it all across the economic spectrum, the rich and the poor, and the black and the white. Is it not in our best interest to use whatever means we have possible to promote this visionary to our country's highest office? We have the power and the choice to do what is in our best interest...so decide. Are you part of the problem or part of the solution? America is in bondage and it is time to unshackle ourselves.
Party Unity is the focus of the DNC but according to one of the super delegates I must go by what ”my momma taught me” Donna Brazile went on to say that we must play by the rules and that you can’t change the rules in the course of the game. Some presenters also drew reference to the fact that with the announcement that the votes wouldn’t count once the primaries were held earlier than scheduled by the DNC, potential voters may not have shown up and therefore the actual votes cannot truly represent the voice of the people.
A Decision Day
Another day was not so tense
Darkness cloud the Florida and Michigan defense
Emphatic presentations for both candidates
Conference room applauding from vibrant debates
It was unclear for me, I couldn’t make up my mind
So many different positions put me in a bind
I started the day thinking divide them squarely
Obama can get 50% and 50% for Hillary
Now I understand the proposed splits
Delegates to be apportioned fairly is good politics
And yet the rules can’t be changed along the way
You have lots to consider on A Decision Day
North Carolina... Tobacco Road... Home of the Mighty 82nd Airborne Division, the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, and Pope Air Base... A historical state with a deep historical past in the United States; dating back to the original Province of Carolina that stretched from the Atlanta to the Pacific!!
Folks, we know that we are always going to have people who absolutely will ignore logic… consciously, and otherwise ignore the opportunity to get at the true roots of our inner most feelings about our individual lives, and where we have room for each other in our hearts and futures while living side by side… shopping in the same stores… going to enjoy the same arts… cheering for our own children and each others’ at the Saturday soccer game… joining each other for lunch from the roadside workers, to the college campuses around the country, to the factories and technology corridors that come and go from Indiana to North Carolina…
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have just seen history in the making again. The question after November 4, 2008, though, will be whether we find ourselves on the better side of the very making of the same… This is our time… This may be our last shot and time… Two weeks to go until we have another Carolina go to the polls, and another state from the great mid-west do the same… More folks from the New South and the wheat and Corn Belt have weighed in with the Hope of Today and Tomorrow… The Hope in Barack Obama…
It has been tiring for many of us… a process a lot longer than most of would have ever imagined… Just as Senator Obama mentioned, it is not just about winning, though… Rather, it is how we win… We can win… We must win… We will win…
How many phone calls can we each make? How many doors can we knock on? How many points can we win each state of North Carolina and Indiana by that will further close the door on this nomination for America; for Barack Obama?
Semper & Respectfully,
Kent D. Fletcher
Dist 46 Democrat Candidate

My decision to support Senator Barack Obama was not an easy choice. Though it would have been after the Democratic National Convention. I was and still am a Clinton lover (Bill), if you will. So to go against Senator Clinton was extremely tough. I always said that I would be happy with either and support whoever won.
The time to wait has come and gone. Barack Obama will lead the path we must follow. The hole we have to crawl out of is enormous. Barack Obama has the leadership, intelligence, courage and audacity to see the job through.
So for me, I guess the choice was not as hard as I thought.
Thank you.
But in the autumn of 2006, there was a chance to take a step in the right direction: Senate Amendment No. 4882, an amendment to a Pentagon appropriations bill that would have banned the use of cluster bombs in civilian areas. Senator Obama of Illinois voted IN FAVOR of the ban. Senator Clinton of New York voted AGAINST the ban. Analysts say Clinton did not want to risk appearing "soft on terror," as it would have harmed her electibility.

We can't afford for her to get another strike. It costs lives!

Many Americans face a critical decision in the upcoming state-wide democratic primaries. The world is watching the US as it stands a decisive juncture. With Barack Obama a rare confluence, one which I believe parallels great leaders, of experience, judgment, compassion, and insight has compelled me to be a firsttime advocate and share my journey through a difficult choice.
As a first generation Indian- American woman I reluctantly voted for Bush in 2000. Profoundly disappointed in the current state of my country, I have searched for a candidate with effective skills to be commander-in-chief, respect the position of President, an understanding the everyday struggles of people, and genuine desire to make improvements. I have found that candidate within Senator Barack Obama.
Living in both New York and Illinois when both candidates launch their respective first US Senate bid, I critically evaluated both nominees. I have no doubt that both are passionate about bettering this country. I have struggled with, "How will each candidate bring about this change? Who will be the most effective?" Effectiveness includes experience. Obama has been criticised for not having enough. Preeta Bansal special counsel in the Clinton White House and Justice Department, in her endorsement of Obama, highlights that his experience mirrors that of another Illinois leader, Abraham Lincoln.
Bill Clinton's 1992 response to questions of his own perceived inexperience was, "The same old experience is irrelevant….mine is rooted in the real lives of real people... it will bring real results if we have the courage to change." I find Obama's experience rooted in the right kind of experience. His desire to help and enlighten people is authentic. Obama has been consistently involved with his community and has encouraged people to be change agents. After studying International Relations, he spent years as a community organiser, a difficult job in one of the most economically depressed areas of Illinois, and as a civil rights lawyer. Simultaneously he was an active member in the Illinois state legislature and taught constitutional law for 11 years at one of most world renowned law schools in the country. As an alumna of the University of Chicago I know of the critical independent judgment the school emphasises. He has demonstrated his critical independent judgment most notably with stance against the war in Iraq. In contrast, Clinton's experience in public office began by relocating to NY months before announcing her candidacy for a seat being vacated by a retiring senator. She was not involved in state activities prior to her announcement.
Effectiveness is also about how you get results. Obama has earned a reputation of being a unifier, a necessary prerequisite to bridge gaps across diverse groups, including evangelicals, independents, and conservatives. Clinton's campaign is executed with a disappointingly win-at-all-cost approach with no regard of the long-term impact. On her watch, prominent Clinton supporters, such as Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, continue to make racial remarks without condemnation. Recall, Clinton's swift rebuke of MSNBC for a statement regarding her daughter that people under-40 would not find offensive. So I am left to wonder.
Lastly it is about who can motivate this country and impact change. Reflecting upon the primary race, Senator Obama has energised and motivated people to get involved with the democratic process and has stopped the consistent wave of apathy that has blanketed the country. I've met throngs of people who represent the world in ethnicity, age, and religion who been moved to become first-time participants in the democratic process because they had found a candidate who understands them. After 34 years, my Indian-American mother now actively supports a candidate. This is an important earmark and one that underscores his desire to empower people to become the change they want to see.
Well it's Super Tuesday and I've finnally made my decision. Barack Obama will be our next president. You're doing a great job Senator.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
