seems to paint a very bleak picture about our use of technology by our governments today. The UK is guilty of incorrectly implementing a technology, which when tested by a TRUE hacker, was cloned in under 12 minutes.
The catch is the government owes us no explanation per se, they do as they will and change things as they please. My request to Obama, is put more faith in the people especially those all using advanced technology (as you are Mr.Blackberry man)...to at least push the testing beyond closed government quarters. The days of government contracts should come under scrutiny, if not for security of the people's identity alone, then at least for the security of the nation.
We all saw the movie Die Hard or Live Free....where the terrorist was an insider, which tried to point out the government's weaknesses. Yes the movie was about Bruce Willis kicking duff....but remember the underlying message, the government is not all knowing. They do make mistakes, and when it comes to identities that can be stolen, we don't want to have mistakes. Lost money on a credit acrd is one thing, but having your life cloned and used to help evil in whatever form, and have that reputation tarnished, is not something to be taken lightly.
Please Obama, before doing as our over anxious UK counter parts did, at least get some of the defcon blackhat team members review and help on testing the new RFID chips, should you even ever consider using them as proof of identity!
PS- One card to rule them all, incorporate the passport, with a special bonus card that doubles as your medicare, drivers, social security, would be nice...then only one office would need to create them, and in such would enforce the technology being available to no do gooders!
At the time when the economy is still trying to recover, when we are still reeling from the financial crisis generated by greed, and President Obama is working on legislation to curve the Credit Card companies from their aggressive and unfair practices these companies are at it again.
I have just received a notice (along with thousands of people) that Chase Credit is increasing the minimum payment on my two accounts from 2% a month to 5%! This is more than doubling the amount of money that needs to be paid to them on a monthly basis and this is for a customer who has NEVER been late in a single payment and has actually been paying a lot more than the minimum to one of those accounts (voluntarily) to reduce the debt.My current minimum payments are $310 and $160 every month, but under their new scheme, I will instead have to pay $775 and $400 beginning August 1st! So now I will have to come up with an additional $705 every month just to cover the minimum payments on two accounts in which I have never been late. When I borrowed the money, I entered into an agreement to pay an X percentage a month at a fixed rate and now they are changing this terms arbitrarily and have told me that my only choice if I don't like the new terms is to close the accounts and pay them in full within a month!
How can this be done by the same companies that are borrowing our money from the goverment to stay (allegedely) in business? How can these companies get away with this predatory practice at the same time when Mr. Obama is trying hard to stop them from bleeding us to death?
If this is not something worth investigating, there is not much that President Obama will be able to do to save the country from the greedy and the powerful.
If anyone has any suggestions or can get this example of abuse to Mr. Obama, please let me know!

Instead of giving handouts to big companies run by well to do fat cats, why not take the total dollar amount and divide it up amoung all the people who paid federal income taxes and had an income less than $60,000?
The money could be put on a Credit Card (just like the one used for the TV Boxes) where the recipient would have 2 months to spend the entire amount.
The credit card could only be used to buy a car, technology products, major appliances and any other area that needs economic stimulation.
The credit card could NOT be used to get CASH or purchase Food, or pay utility bills - the idea here is to stimulate the economy by getting people to buy things they have been holding off due to concerns about the economy.
If the card is not used by the end of the 2 months, or any remaining balance exists after 2 months it would be lost.
The Amounts, Time and requirments for recipt of this Credit Card could be adjusted by people wiser that I to best cause the stimulus needed.
Hi, everyone!
Just a short notice: I am a German citizen (as I have said quite often) and I have tried several times to donate to the Barack Obama campaign. It is not possible to do that with a German credit card! It just isn't possible.
So, everyone who states that there were donations from foreign credit cards - not true!
Much less would I believe that a card from an "Adolf Hitler" was accepted. This last claim is final proof to me that the accusations are completely baseless!
That's all for now
Bye
The last time our country went through a recession it was the early 1990s. As I prepare for this one, I remembered what got me through the last one - credit cards!
My credit cards allowed me the ability to not really feel the pain of the recession. My lifestyle and Christmas shopping list didn't change one iota.
But this time around, credit will be more difficult to obtain. And not only that, with the higher rates credit companies will be charging, many may decide to just forego them.
I just got a phone call asking for a contribution to the Obama campaign, but two things were puzzling: one is that I made a contribution via this site two days ago, and he used my nickname which does not appear on this site.
So I'm wondering if this is a scam where people are saying they're with Obama's campaign in hopes of getting people's credit card information.
Does anyone know about this? Is it legitimate and, if so, why don't the callers have a list of people who have not contributed, rather than phoning those who already have and continue to do so?
Unbelievable, but they just keep coming....
Now it appears that Senator Clinton's campaign made unauthorized charges to many supporter's credit cards - in this particular case over the legal limit for nomination contributions. Then they tried to keep the money. It seems they only returned the dough when their [ex]supporter filed a police report...

Letter to Obama sent on 2-16-08:
Title: Credit Card ConservativesA pithy word that hasn't been used by Obama yet: "Credit card conservatives." I saw this in a youtube comment and I think it sums up the type of Republican that Independents like me despise more than any other. If Washington is to change "business as usual," then we have to name the culprits by their deeds. It is the credit card conservatives that like to talk about balancing the budget but borrow more and leave my generation with more debt at every juncture.Democrats may have been complicit in the past, but balancing budgets must be a priority for any American president now. Obama has the best chance to achieve this because he already understands that we cannot AFFORD to rule the world through military spending. We need to stand down our forces and focus on strengthening America through its economy - not its military. On weapons, we already spend more than the whole world combined. And what has it got us? The least bang for our buck of any military in the world! If we tightened our belts, we might someday be the great power for good that previous generations believed us to be.Our addiction to the collosal military-industrial-complex has sapped our economy of strength, denied our country's people better schools and healthcare, and made us the world's bully, not its visionary. And for this we have the credit card conservatives to thank.Regards,Marc MaxsonNew Orleans (freelance political speechwriter for hire)
I am a physician in a small town in Texas. My patients are mostly blue collar and working poor. A couple of years ago I noticed that when I call patients with results or to return calls, they rarely pick the phone until they know who I am. This is because they are avoiding calls from credit card companies. When I discussed this with my employees, all working women with kids, they hung their heads and admitted how well they understood this. This is the hidden shame of our culture.
2 young men who I have known since they were young from my church recently had to drop out of college. They had to go to work to pay off debt. They had no jobs and were full time students and were given credit cards. I do not want to minimize personal responsibility, but I get 4 to 5 offers a week for my son who graduated 5 years ago. These companies entice poor and young people and couples then raise the rates to a rates that was considered usury in the past. They depend on people failing for their profit. Their ability to change contracts without consent is unparalleled in our society.
To add insult to injury the senate passed a banking bill that in my understanding made people obligated to work for these companies for life -modern sharecroppers-reminiscent of Charles Dickens England. All of the senate was there that day but only 99 voted. Senator Obama voted against this awful bill but one senator abstained. Guess who? Yes you got it, Bills' wife. Am I naive to assume she might have friends in the industry. This is an issue that crosses party lines I am still a R(bad word omitted) but I can tell you no candidate has any real support yet on that side of the aisle.
Senator Obama is a man of faith. I listened to his speech online and was impressed. Those of us who pray first are still waiting for someone to define some real issues that will help real people. A return to 21% and more regulation of this predatory industry might be a place to start. Freeing Americans from the slavery of debt could be more of a blessing than many of the other nonissues I hear discussed. It is certainly more relevant than tax cuts to people making 18000 a year.

YES, I am enchanted with Obama. And, YES, I envision him as our next president. Something's bothering me, though. If the campaign is about me, why the canned list of issues to choose from? There's not even an "OTHER" category. Personally, I'm intersted in consumer debt, and the usury, deceptiveness and sharp practices credit card companies use, which are legally sanctioned by our government. Who in the campaign can I address my concerns to? HOW CAN I MAKE MY VOICE HEARD?!
