“The North appears to have launched a ground-to-ship missile into the East Sea shortly after 9pm Tuesday,” said the unnamed defence official. Pyongyang had already launched two missiles from its east coast earlier on Tuesday, after firing three on Monday.
With tensions on the Korean peninsula high, South Korea said it would join a US-led initiative to intercept ships suspected of carrying weapons of mass destruction, a move that Pyongyang has previously warned it would consider “an act of war”.
They shot them into the ocean over and over. North Korea shoots off six missiles and we stand around saying, “Hey, stop that or we’re going to stop the shipment of solid gold Mercedes that you like so much.” I don’t know what type of diplomacy this is but, you bring that weak game to the playground and you won’t last a day.
By the way, all of the countries have said once before, “This is a provocative act and won’t be tolerated,” the first time they shoot it. After the sixth time they say, “lets just ignore them, maybe they will go away.”
It is my opinion that looking forward requires us to investigate the use of "enhanced interrogation techniques" and warrantless suveillance in the Patriot Act. If these are truly violations of the Constitution, domestic laws, and/or international laws, we NEED to prosecute.
If we let transgressions of this type slide under times of emotional response, we risk a repeat of this type of violations. The reason the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and laws forbid torture and warrantless searches (as well as all the others) is precisely so we CAN'T overreact out of fear or anger. To do nothing is to set a precedent that there are circumstances where it is okay not discard the Constitution and ignore the laws.
We are either a nation of laws or we are not. By 'looking forward' while ignoring possible abuses and violations means we are not. It also undermines our ability to hold other countries and entities to this standard. We MUST abide by the standards and principles we espouse. If we don't our country is a lie.
Barack's Inaugural Speech was both sobering and inspirational ....
Its urgent that we participate in offering both solutions and support for our new government.
Its time to dream again .... Big Dreams .... not of what is .... but a bright new future for America and the world.
Carpe Diem !

By land, sea and air, our military fought for freedom in World War II, the “good war,” while civilians at home joined together in a massive nationwide effort to do our part. Little girls sacrificed the rubber tires from their doll carriages, boys collected the foil from discarded cigarette wrappings, women went to work in factories building airplanes, and senior citizens knitted socks, collected scrap metal, rolled bandages, and read to the wounded in military hospitals. Never before or since were we so united. It's like that again.
Despite the high cost of gasoline, entire families are driving to nearby states, knocking on doors of strangers, and asking that their votes be cast for Barack Obama; often they are invited in for a cup of coffee. People are talking, and people are listening. Caravans are wending their way to battleground states to drum up more votes for Obama. Despite the cost of long-distance, seniors are calling battleground states asking for votes for Obama. Despite not knowing their neighbors, people are gathering in other living rooms to watch debates, make calls to get out the vote, and to raise funds. It seems there are as many Republicans as Democrats giving their money, their time, and their passion to get Barack Obama elected.
Obama has already united us into a common cause for the good of our nation. We began by shouting “Yes we can!” Now it is time to shout, “Yes we must!”
Some Questions Without Answers.
Do you have the real answers?
1. After watching the first three interviews of the Republican VP candidate,
what do you think the McCain Campaign will do concerning the Vice Presidential Debate?
2. Why do you think this Republican VP was truly chosen?
3. What do you like best about the Democratic VP candidate?
4. After watching the many interviews of the Democratic VP candidate, what do you think the Obama campaign will do concerning the Vice Presidential Debate?
They had a note attached to his paycheck last week. They were filing chapter 11 bankruptcy. After 5 years of working hard, little time to relax, and no benefits... he is about to lose his job. So, that leaves us, his 4 children and his wife to wonder... What's next?
I guess I need to start with a short bit of background for it all to be understood. My husband and I have 2 children together, as well as the 2 children he fathered by his ex wife. The ex wife has an addiction to cocaine and alcohol. She pays no child support. She does not see her children. We take care of a family of 6, on only a grill cooks wages ($8.00 an hour, -2 meals a shift even if you dont eat them, and applicable taxes)
I am a full time student at Meridian Community College, where I have a 4.0 GPA, am vice president of Phi Beta Lambda, Kappa Delta chapter (Future Business Leaders of America). I am also an advisory board member for Care Lodge, Inc. (a local non-profit womens advocacy organization that provides 24-hour emergency assistance call lines, and also provides a safe shelter for women and their children). Even with all this on my resume, along with previous experience in the feild, I have not been able to find a job since college started, and I had to leave my previous job in order to take care of my 4 girls and attend school full time)
I look at the situation, and I have faith. I believe that Barack Obama will be elected the next president of this great country. Despite the fact that my government has done little for me, I still believe it is great. I still believe that this country is the Land of the Free. I still believe that this country has great people in it. The great people of this country are truely what makes it great. The people that have helped me, and the people that help others. People like the family that took me in as a single mother with nowhere to go, in an unfamiliar state, with no family. When the local government told me they could not help because I was not 21 years of age yet, and my emancipation was not complete. When the shelters told me they could not help because I was not 21 years of age yet. When I was going to be homeless, with a new born infant, this family took us into their home, and fed us, and helped clothe us. They helped me get my GED, and a better job after I healed from my c-section. They taught me about faith. Faith in my neighbor, and faith in my country.
When I listened to Senator Obama's plans and ideas, they made sense. Some of his speeches relay thoughts that I have always had about the problems we face as Americans, and race relations.
Living in Mississippi as a white woman with a black husband, 2 mixed race children, and 2 black children... life is not easy. I never wanted to have to sit my 3 year old down and explain why some people treat her different, or say mean things about her hair or skin.
I have always thought that people were just people, and we are different in many ways, but that difference is what makes us beautiful. We are all children of God, yet individual players with specialized skills, and each player plays a key role in this, the game of life. Though it seems to me that we the people have forgotten; that, for every action (and I mean EVERY action), there is an equal and constant reaction. That when we classify people, then sterotypes emerge. When stereotypes are present, they bloom into prejudisms. Then, it just goes downhill from there.
The people of this great country have also forgotten that everything they do, somehow affects the greater good. When you commit a crime; for example, shows this theory. It is not only the victim who is affected, but every person of this country who pays taxes that pay for the encarseration and services to the offender.
The government of this country; at some point, had also forgotten that every single thing that they do, effects the citizens of this great country.
My friends, I STILL have faith.
I have faith in this country, and I have faith in Barack Obama. I pray every day that in November, the people of this country will open their eyes as wide as they can and see the big picture. I pray that they will see what is important, and see the great potential in my candidate, the great senator Barack Obama. Because a change MUST come.
Just heard the Pres. of our country give us a few (approx. four) minutes of his valuable unconcerning time. Our country, and most of the world is in trouble. Big trouble!! Financially, and morally. An we get four lousy minutes! It was a relief not to have to listen any longer. He said he and his "staff "cough" would continue to act. Act??
1. Act as though they know what is really going on??
2. Act as though they are and have been (only trying to help) us and other countries??
3. Act as though like father Bush, like son, like McCain, like Bush isn's a huge continued part of why we are in this mess??
4. Act as though they do know what is going on??
5. Act as though we're too stupid to finally figure everything out????????????
Emmy's are this weekend! Maybe there will be a category for"best back stabber" in an animated series!!
When Sen. John McCain announced Gov. Sarah Palin as his VP running mate, my response echoes that of most Americans—regardless of party affiliation: Sarah who? As my mind combed through the list of well-known, politically vetted and experienced choices McCain had at his disposal, I began to do my homework. I searched the web for every bit of information I could find on Palin.
My gut feeling was that Sen. McCain had chosen his running mate based solely on her gender. I had a feeling that McCain believed that by picking a female running mate, he could pick up some of those Hillary loyalists who had angrily expressed their intent to vote for McCain if Hillary did not get the nomination or a spot on the VP spot ticket. But then I thought to myself, “Nah, not even Sen. McCain would be so presumptuous as to conceive of a world where true Hillary supporters would discard their sanity and throw their support behind just any woman. Surely not!” I all but forced myself to give McCain the benefit of the doubt. And, having decided as much, I begin my quest to learn as much as I could above Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.
I started with the most objective source I could find: Gov. Palin’s official state website. While I find her rise to the top fascinating, I am completely unimpressive by her resume; or, rather, lack thereof. Besides being the mayor of a small town and a governor for less than two years, Palin has no political experience, no foreign policy experience, and no national security experience! I felt my objectivity wavering, so I decided to that I would force neutrality by simply creating an outline of Palin’s pros and cons. The results are below. The choice is clear!
We've come to a tricky juncture, where Barack's authenticity has been questioned and Americans seem enamored with Sarah Palin. I watched 16 hours of the Republican convention and the subsequent damage to Obama's campaign, and this is my recommendation:
Take the high road!
Governor Palin can be her own worst enemy, if you leave her alone and let her inexperience and star play itself out. Don't mention her name. Go after McCain.
Having said that, Americans have the utmost respect for John McCain and have for years, more than almost any other figure in Washington. He is beloved. And McCain has showed respect and admiration for Obama. McCain is running on his record and wisdom. Now is the time for Obama to highlight his record and wisdom, even more than he ever has before.
Healthcare is a life-or-death crisis right now. How will you solve that? Remind us! We lost our way in foreign policy. How will you fix it? Remind us! We are focused on McCain. Bring us back! Make us fall in love with your plans again!
The best policy, when anger surfaces, is just to lay low. Take a step back. Regroup. Take the highest road. Even be silent for a while, like Steve Jobs before an iPhone bombshell. McCain did that during the Democratic convention; not a negative peep, and then look at what his bombshell did. Only the highest road will beat a respected duo like McCain/Palin.
Finally, apologize for even perceived unkindness. You didn't mean it, but apologize anyway. Take the highest of the high roads, and bring the debate back to how you will change the future. To you alone, because any attacks will backfire. Please do this for us. It is imperative.
To Obama staff, helpers, campaigners, etc: Can you get my word out? My ideas? Do you have any thoughts? Can we turn this campaign around to be the one that beats McCain's in respectability, smarts, and fairness? Your thoughts, please . . .
Some of my dearest relatives are southern and part of the struggling working class who consistently vote Republican, against their own best interests! They are among that group of citizens who think Obama is "elite" and "not one of them".
I don't know if ANYTHING can sway their opinion, but I do know they are country music fans! So, while I was traveling recently I heard this song come on a country radio station, and I immediately decided that perhaps music could help Barack make a "country connection"!!!!
I do not know Garth Brook's political views, but he wrote the PERFECT lyrics for Barack Obama's theme song!
It is titled "We Shall Be Free", and here are the words:
This ain't comin from no prophet, Just an ordinary man,When I close my eyes I see,The way this world shall be, When we all walk hand in hand, When the last child cries for a crust of bread,When the last man dies for just words that he said,When there's shelter over the poorest head, We shall be free,When the last thing we notice is the color of skin,And the first thing we look for is the beauty within,When the skies and the oceans are clean again,Then we shall be free,We shall be free,We shall be free,So stand straight, Walk proud, 'Cause we shall be free,When we're free to love anyone we choose,When this worlds big enough for all different views,When we're all free to worship from our own kind of pew,Then we shall be free,We shall be free,We shall be free,Have a little faith,Hold out,'Cause we shall be free,And when money talks for the very last time,And nobody walks a step behind,When there's only one race and that's mankind,Then we shall be free,We shall be free,Listen to what I'm saying to you,We shall be free,Cause every night and day I pray it's true,Together,Forever,We shall be free.
I can't think of any song that more perfectly fits Barack Obama's goals for this country!
"Make no mistake where you are..." 4Such a time as this. Tax and spend - maybe a trillion when its all said and done.
Now imagine a giant vacuum cleaner sucking up billions of dollars above the USA. Half a trill and counting!
Now The Elite is someone who can't remember how many homes they have... When you have so much disinformation, and lies, remember its all here to serve the Elite and The United Corporations of America.
Rise up, be counted, REALLY VOTE, this far, no further!
Let's Rock 4 Barack!
Your Moment! When the times are too great, and the paradox are set for equality, this moment is that time. When the world is at its lift and the constellation meets the mitts; this moment is that time. When those that mock, and mark the leadership qualities in a candidate that has been opposed, this moment is that time. When the opposing incumbent party is cynical of the ideas that the opposition presides, and says that's not leadership and then rephrases those ideas, to make a claim on them; is a true lack of leadership. We can't afford to demonize an American child because they don't have the same ideological thinking as you do! This campaign is not about being a celebrity in politics, making one before the other: this campaign is about all Americans, coming together and forming: One Nation.
