2010 Year of the Bible by Paul Broun AP/Photo
Happy New Year of The Bible 2010 by Paul Broun
On our countdown to a new year in 2010, Paul Broun (R-Ga.) wants everyone to ring in the “Year of the Bible”. He wants to pass legislation to honor the good book. Opposition is strong in the Democratic party, but whats the big deal? We’re already burning them suckers in Afghanistan. I wrote a post about it, and got negative feedback from every dem, saying I’m a GOP’r in disguise. In fact, I’m just a student pointing out similarities between different governments past and present. That isn’t choosing sides at all. When people see a political blog, they are automatically trying to figure out what party I am affiliated with. None. Well, whoever decides to pay me the most. Just kidding(That’s illegal for all you kids out there, no selling votes.) Sorry for ranting but I’ve been enraged at some of my readers that just don’t get the whole picture. Someone said I’m a Christian that hates America. No, I’m a Christian that loves America; the thought of America more like it. It used to stand for something, and all I see and read is how far it has gone from what our forefathers set forth to achieve. I am not ashamed of being an American. Our differences are what makes this country unique. I say instead of the “Year of the Bible”, we just go with the Chinese astrology and name it after an animal. Or we can ring in the New Year as a world united. All across Washington people are joking about what year its going to be after that. Year of the encyclopedia? Quran? Las Vegas escort Pamphlets? Whatever the year, I’ll be ringing it in with a smile, knowing I’m in a country that spends too much time on a stupid idea. Hey Paul Broun, think of a way to get your ass back to work on important things.

We have a little bit more time till the inauguration day, but I'm so proud to see my President-elect Barack Obama with his intellect, wisdom, patriotism and great personality has already been embracing and get in charge of saving our country and shape the future of our beautiful world considering these difficult days in many ways as well as financially... And I really believe that we'll make it for the brighter days... HOPE is the name of FUTURE if we really believe in it...
No, really. How low can one go? Is this woman ever a candidate for Keith Olbermann's Worst Person in the World.

Chicago -- Interestingly, John McCain was on the campaign trail yesterday and an attendee asked a question regarding the draft, and how we need to reinstate it to continue fighting war on terror.
WOMAN: If we don't reenact the draft, I don't think we'll have anyone to chase Bin Laden to the gates of hell. MCCAIN: Ma'am, let me say that I don't disagree with anything you said, and thank you.
MCCAIN: Ma'am, let me say that I don't disagree with anything you said, and thank you.
Take a look back when McCain was known as a maverick -- seems he had a different story about the rich, and how unfair today's draft would become.

I stopped in to the downtown Suffolk Campaign for Change office today to drop off some odds and ends as I was on my way to the DMV to correct my address on my drivers license, it needed to be straightened out before election day. Anyway, I met Darla! Hi Darla!!! There she was, busy as a bee in the offices. The office was very full of activities, new posters, big photos, food and a great big monitor counting down the minutes until the election. It was very encouraging, especially after the low turn out we had over the week-end for canvassers.
There is a little store in the little "mall" where our office is. I've been buying Obama buttons there but end up giving them away while canvassing. I am down to my last one so I stopped in the store to buy some more and he was out of them! He had several other designs but I didn't like them nearly as much. I bought one but will hold out for the promised arrival of more of the kind he had before. He (I should learn his name) also sells Obama tee-shirts and hats. I ought to buy a hat, I like hats, but I make my own tee-shirts by printing my own designs on iron on transfers paper then I iron them on to plain tee-shirts. I also make refrigerator magnets that parody the the 'Virginia is for Lovers' logo. It has Virginia is for Obama instead.
Also, over the week-end I made a mini-poster in response to Obama's joke about "Contrary to popular belief, I was not born in a manger.....I was instead born on Krypton..."
Of course I also printed each of those designs on tee-shirts.
I wish I had a button maker!
McPalin's people (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDq_sJOkCgA ) claim that the media is picking on her,

Barack Obama will be interviewed this evening on Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC at 8 pm.
After all the twisted rhetoric and dodging issues from the Republicans these past 10 days, I am looking forward to hearing from the next President of the United States of America!
This evening on Countdown With Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow did some wonderful reporting in a video piece called "Let's Call Lies Lies." Point by point she takes apart accusations made the past few days by John McCain and Sarah Palin about Barack Obama, and calls them what they are: LIES.
The story is excellent, as is her reporting --- and especially delivery.
Really nicely done, Rachel. Thank you!
Check it out on the Countdown page at MSNBC.COM.
The Republicans are extremely talented at marketing, and terrible at governing. We must remember this as the campaigns heat up.
In the past two elections, Karl Rove found a way to market George W. Bush into the White House by appealing to the Republican conservative right. Then they gave us Dick Cheney to cement the deal. As a result, we have spent the past eight years watching self-interest at its worst while all the basic tenets of peace and prosperity in our nation crack and crumble at a frightening pace. That, along with our declining standing in the world.
In the 2008 presidential race we once again see sleight of hand from the Republicans. They show one side of Sarah Palin to the conservative right base of the party to shore up that faction. Then they show another side of her to the rest of the world --- a closely guarded, well-scripted side, designed to make us believe she is a young, hip, family-oriented, successful career woman with a special needs child and the interests of America truly in her heart.
Sounds like a perfect contrast to nullify Barack Obama, doesn't it? But she isn't anything like Barack Obama. She may be bright person, but she's a 2-term local mayor of a tiny town in a remote state, and now governor of said remote state. Her interests are extreme: Pro-life despite rape and incest, pro-oil, pro-NRA, pro-conservatism. She is not interested in the problems that face the American people, like healthcare, education, jobs, and cost of living. She is interested first and foremost in the ideals that serve the Republican right.
Are you aware that they let her talk to People Magazine --- BUT NOT MEET THE PRESS, HARDBALL, COUNTDOWN, or 60 MINUTES?! If they have nothing to hide, why are they hiding her?
Let's remember who Barack Obama is and what he stands for. He's worked hard in community service. He's been the head of Harvard Law Review, a law professor, and both a state senator and a U.S. Senator. He is versed in the workings of Washington, DC, and he is well known in the Congress and Senate. He record is well known, his ideals are well known, and he's been working to establish himself with world leaders. He has been preparing for the role of President all his adult life. No on-the-job-training here.
Don't be fooled by the Republican sleight of hand. Ask more questions about Sarah Palin and what she truly believes. Then ask yourself if this is the person you want potentially running our country if something happens to John McCain, age 72.
