With the economy being a stronger point for Obama, I'd like to promote the catch phrase
"Barack Obama for President and CEO"
With McCain, the US will continue to have an uphill battle on the world stage. Obama has already received standing ovations.
Here are some ways to capture that:
"From being the door mat to getting the welcome mat."
"Our enemies will sit down across the negotiating table from Obama with the rest of the world on his side."
"On the world stage, McCain will lack the experience he'll need when he's booed while Obama will have more than required when applauded" (ties in nicely with the whole"celebrity" thing)
Please offer up some more or make improvements to these so they get used.
I try to steer clear of politics unless I can pull a clear correlation to PR. As a publicist, who has represented rappers in the past, I'm amazed at how some media outlets are spinning Ludacris' song about Obama. It's as if Ludacris was commissioned to make a theme song for the Barack Obama campaign. From my vantage point, I see Ludacris' song as more of a tribute song intended to motivate the hip hop community to take action and realize what's at stake in November. I recognize the strategy behind those that support McCain and I can't fault them on the strategy because they need something right now to work with. If you examine this situation just on strategy points it would make sense for them to blow it out of proportion, as timing is everything.
The pattern that I'm seeing appears to be that whenever Obama opposers want to infuriate McCain supporters they have to make Obama supporters the center of the “spin” instead of Obama, himself. This is strategy, plain and simple. When making a comparison between the two candidates the elephant in the room is often either race or religion, two areas that McCain's camp has to tread lightly around. Since these two topics can't be addressed in a roundtable or town hall discussion, their best bet is to wait for key figures that represent those two areas to come forth. And once they do, all the strategy that has been planned behind closed doors is unleashed. Please recognize that the wording and emotion that they are trying to provoke has been well rehearsed without the star or leading roles. As soon as someone steps out that has the character description of the starring roles, the lights go up, the curtain opens, a new star is cast and Obama is cast as a supporting character. I was sent the clip where Fox News' Hannity discussed Ludacris' song. The clip I saw was on YouTube and when I went to Fox News' site I couldn't find it. Ironically, their home page says “We report, you decide” and O'Reilly's tag line is “Enter the No Spin Zone.” From how they addressed this song situation more fitting slogans might be “We decide what to report” or “Enter for a Spin.” Artists, especially musicians have been making political statements since the beginning of time. I admire these symbols for using their influence for something other than promoting themselves. While their motives may be controversial, they recognize that they are thought leaders and want to do more with their positioning. We all have a voice but not everyone has a stage, a microphone and a draw. For those with the draw, they hire savvy and seasoned publicists to create a thorough spin. For those without a draw, please stay out of our lane. End scene, lights down, curtain closed!
Barack Hussein Obama.
Just checking...and nope, doesn't matter how many times I write it or hear it I don't feel any fear.
I'm not sure what Ann Coulter and others with similar interests to her are trying to accomplish. Yes, I understand they are fear mongers, but seriously, Hussein is just a name like Jesse or James or Bonnie or Clyde or Al or Capone or Ted or Bundy or Lee or Harvey or Oswald or Butch or Cassidy or Sundance or Timothy or McVeigh or Terry or Nichols and this list could go on and on.
The character behind the name is what matters.
And as I observe the actions of Ann Coulter and the like, I question their character... and intelligence.
I often wonder if Ann Coulter and the like have ever studied American history or world history. If so, they would surely notice that each outlaw, criminal, murderer, terrorist, etc., had a name. And many of those people had somewhat common names.
If we are to be so gullible to succumb to the fear mongering manipulations of the Ann Coulter's of the world, what's next? A ban on all names of those that kill, murder, rape, rob, steal, etc., or perhaps we should ban names all together and simply allow the governments of the world to assign people numbers when they are born.
NO. Those are not the solutions.
If they were, could you imagine a world in which we did not laugh at TED Danson in Cheers or the Bundy's on Married With Children?
OR enjoyed the rapid beating of our once young girl's heart's over the former teen idols Shaun and David CASSIDY?
OR be mesmerized by the wonderful, Pulitzer Prize winning play turned into a movie HARVEY?
OR celebrated the success of independent film at the SUNDANCE Film Festival?
OR watched AL Roker deliver the weather each morning on the Today show or learned about global warming from Noble Prize winning, Vice President AL Gore?
OR held your stomach while laughing through the films by director TERRY Gilliam?
OR applauded the films of Spike LEE or Ang LEE?
OR sang along with smooth styling's of BONNIE Raitt?
OR enjoyed the writings of JAMES Fenimore Cooper and OSWALD Chambers and TIMOTHY Leary?
OR have been motivated and inspired by JESSE Jackson?
OR have cheered on NBA star CLYDE Drexsler?
OR clapped at the graduation of the students from NICHOLS School?
OR listened to a message of healing by Kate McVEIGH?
OR voted for the Governor of Idaho C.L. "BUTCH" Otter?
OR played pool with one of Mike CAPONE's custom cues?
OR dream with Barrack HUSSEIN Obama?
John Glenn endorsed Hillary. A famous cool younger OH person needs to endorse Obama, before Tuesday march 4!
Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders lives in the Akron/Summit area, and is for public transport and animal rights, therefore she should logically support Obama. So far, she hasn't endorsed anyone. There is a downside risk that her association with PETA (which is considered a terrorist organization by medical research scientists) could be exploited like his minister's association with Farrakhan, but winning Ohio is step 1.
Hynde could, like the Grateful Dead, do a public show (and youtube) of just one song to create a media whirlwhind for a 10% bump in OHIO.
Then the only problem is figuring out how to contact her. Can Anybody make this happen quickly???
The lyrics to "My City was Gone" could be redone by the campaign, for the OHIO messages, e.g.
I went back to the US But my nation was in flame. The goodwill was destroyed by republicans who had no shame The worlds view of the US has gone down in every eye by its war on iraq started with a great big lie Ooh Ahh Lets elect O-ba-ma I went back to the USthe economy was a con game Enron and Worldcom melted away leaving billion dollar claims The oil guys as presidents have a mind only with one track war disrupts the oil tents so our gas prices get out of whackOoh Ahh Lets elect O-ba-ma
I went back to the USBut all the old jobs been lostNAFTA helps move them overseasjust to save on some corporate costStruggling just to get by,Our families are so deep in debtWhen the mortgage payment jumps so highThe fed help the bank instead!Ooh Ahh Let's elect O-ba-ma

I've been wanting to share some of my favorite videos from the campaign, with as many people as possible. Although I have a business blog, I've also been a Squidoo Lens Master on various topics. So, I spent this Saturday nite in paradise (at home in my kitchen) setting up a new page: http://www.squidoo.com/BarackStar08/
Last week, prior to setting up this page, I received my first check for "royalties" associated with the ads (unfortunately not of my choosing) that Squidoo places on the pages. In three months, I've gleaned more cash than in a full year of blog residuals, a whopping $5.03! This was the deciding factor for my choice of hosts. Hopefully, I will be donating future residual payments to the campaign, through election day 2008.
Please feel free to RSS, bookmark, and email the link to whomever you feel might enjoy it.
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to say that with the Winter Music Conference (WMC) going down in Miami Beach this week, I wanted any Obama supporters who happen to be fans of house music to go down to the conference and mingle with folks and get the word out for me and this group. Let people know that this campaign is about inclusion not exclusion. House music is party music, but the greater good right now is changing the government from being about the few to being about EVERYONE! So, if anyone knows folks or has friends on BarackObama.com who reside in the Miami area, let them know the easiest way to get the message out is to just be seen in the Miami Beach area this week. Very influential producers and artists are going to be in town thru the weekend. Lets not miss an opportunity to get out the message. Thanks, and rock it down in Miami Beach. It's gonna be crazy down there!
Peace,
Carlos
