You wrote25 minutes agoHere are my street creds: - Volunteer from April 2007 through 2008 Primary - 2007 Camp Obama graduate - Staffer during Primary - Admin for a large local mybo groupJust so we get those out of the way.To answer the question: The structure, style, leadership, groups, all of it is volunteer created and volunteer led. I emailed OFA and received a response that CAN is a volunteer created grassroots organization. Here is what I like about the CAN groups: - National network of volunteers that are active now, or at least will read their email and join an online group because a stranger asked them to - State network of the same - Updates of facts, action items, once a day under the "daily digest" option. Here is what I dont like about the CAN groups: - Aggressive against those elected officials who disagree. We received instructions during the Campaign by Obama himself to treat the other side (hillary at the time) with respect. See my MyBO blog for excerpts of his speech (under mybo username J. Lowe). - Admins are not clearly labeled a "Volunteer" - plus one of Lisa's titles are just like the DNC's official voteforchange.com campaign used during the general election - Establishes a top-down hieararchy, and the campaign was a flat organizational style.More on the last point - I was told by Matthew Barzun that the organization is flat, and received a diagram from him too. It is a circle of volunteers surrounding the staff at the center. There is no hierarchy - we are all equals. Also, Camp Obama taught that there are only two types of volunteers: those who make phone calls and knock on doors, and those who teach and encourage others to make phone calls and knock on doors. The organizer is not higher than the volunteer, it is just a role to complete the group assignment: to talk and listen to voters, and to bring that information back to HQ.What is the action to take on the CAN group? I can only tell you what I am doing: listening. I am not sold on this group right now, and am watching the communication style to learn how to be a better organizer for our local groups. My meditation on this group is to remember our call to Respect, Empower, and Include. As far as my volunteer action from here? Do what I have always done: Whatever the OFA website tells me to do, just like Forrest Gump in boot camp. And in the meantime mayb make something up that sounds like something they would like me to do.If I were to bet $20 on what the next OFA action is, it would be this: SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTANDThis was done during the first 6 months of the campaign and is what won Iowa. There was a link on the mybo website to submit ideas about important issues, and the field staff were trained in effective listening and knocked doors for months. All of the info was sent to HQ. Groups of intelligent minds were linked online who received our info, and researched and discussed it, and used it to create the Blueprint for Change and craft the course we are following right now. So it is most logical that there will be another round of what worked. So, good money is on house meetings led by you and me and everybody's cousin, using the question sheets they give us.Back to action (most important). I was thinking to host a health care meeting - I missed the opportunity during the holidays - and now since Daschle is out, staff would have time to incorporate our information into the health care design. Probably they may do another call under new leadership, i dunno. Or possibly i might host another USAservice.org volunteer project - doing something good for others. Then I'll feel like daisies and sunshine and the world will feel like the fabric softener commercial featuring a teddy bear.Either way, life is good.
Hello Everybody !
We are live. This is not a test. I just sent this request for help to our larger USA.CAN Group. We opened that group and are just this weekend, we are assigning State G roup CAN Administrator and Communications Directors - Nationwide.
Today, I ask you now for help with County.California.CAN Group Administrators. If your able to devote 1 hour of work daily, We need you now. I well promote to County Group Admin and County Group Comm Director those who read my "Welcome and Some Rules of the Road" Letter to all Members of our Community Action Network. If you read and agree to the Seven Principles, I will turn ownership of your County over to you. This is not a test. If any of you wonder who we are and what is the Chain of Command: We are the change we have been waiting for, and we report to President Barack Obama.
Proceedural Steps -
Please use the "Host an Event" tool to create your County CAN Group Organizational Meetings.
Please use MyBO to join all your local groups, and invite all members to your County Organizing Event - and set the date and time for 2/7 at 9 AM to allow you to circle the room as we were trained at Camp Obama. The San Francisco Founding Group Webcast - should start at 10:30 AM. Our County will be at our 4th Meeting.
We CAN Do this People! Yes - We - Can.
For all others who want to work from their Homes and Home Meeting Groups, please reassemble from your sign in sheet, you made last December 13 and 14.
We encourage you all to use MyBO. Use the "Invite Others" to invite MyBO Member Groups (One at a Time Please - as we have brought our list servers to their knees before during both the Primaries and General). Inviting One Group At a Time, technically is like using the Freeway Entry Signal Lights. It's polite and respects the rest of us on MyBO as our Network Information System.
Ask others to join your County Gro ups. California is built and open in all 58 Counties. The remaining 49 States are replicating the structure so we can build out a Digital Militia to support our President in real time. Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of our country.
Please keep your MyBO Groups Moderated. We are an Action Corps. We are not a debate group. Our experience is the debates belong on the Issues Groups also in MyBO. Your monthly meetings are for you to use - and are the source point for local and Statewide Action Requests - to our Grassroots 2.0 Network. Elevate your self. No Fear. Be Kind. Get to Work!!!
Please send to all local MyBO groups in California. And please get the word out!
This is Not a Test !
Please allow me to Introduce you to our Executive Director, and someone I give my respect as a Commanding General. Enjoy Mitch. And before we "hit the bricks" a special thanks and loud roar is due to a man who made this all possible. Thatnk you for believing in your Grassroots!!! Thank David Plouffe for his housepitality to us all while we work in Barack Obama's Digital House.
Thank you David, and let's get to work.

Oklahoma.CAN is the Oklahoma Statewide MyBO Community Action Network Group. We are organizing .CAN Groups in all of our 77 Counties in Oklahoma. Further, each MyBO Group in Oklahoma is welcome to join us, and elect two representatives - one voting delegate, and one alternate. The Membership of our Oklahoma.CAN Group is responsible to create and organize all their "CountyName".Oklahoma.CAN Groups, and call each County Community Action Network Group to meet once each month, according to our two year national schedule. The first two year national schedule is posted below in our Group Blog. See California.CAN as an example of a State organized into county groups. Every County.Oklahoma.CAN Group will host a Quarterly Meeting of all MyBO Members who wish to participate. Our County.Oklahoma.CAN Groups welcome participation from all MyBO Group Members in that Quarterly Meeting in their County. We are a cooperative umbrella set of groups now organizing across all 3,071 Counties in America, and we do not compete with each other. Rather, we strive to work with all local MyBO Groups to coordinate our "Organizing for America" to implement our Blueprint for Change, at our Local City and County Levels of Government, as well as within our Great State of Oklahoma. Oklahoma.CAN will meet in Assembly twice a year at Oklahoma City, our State Capitol: Once in January and once in June in advance of the National USA.CAN Citizens Congress, which we call to assembly in Washington DC once each year. Each CountyName.Oklahoma.CAN Group shall elect their Delegates to our Oklahoma.CAN State and National USA.CAN Groups to join in actions agreed to by each Group's membership. Every State and County Group in our American Network shall remain both autonomous and fully self supporting.
Hi Paul, Wade, Roma and all O-activists:I've been paying attention to your organizing ideas, and have had some productive email exchanges with Wade & Roma. Although I've been a member of SF for Obama throughout the campaign, I no longer live there and wasn't able to attend the Post-Election workshop. As I've discussed with Roma & Wade, I am organizing with my Feminist community, and I'd like to find mechanisms for networking such that what feminists are doing to continue the O-movement are included in the big picture. I'd like to see Feminists included in the long list of political groups mentioned by Paul in his email, below. I'd like to see explicit mention of an already organized online Feminist Community which will have a voice in all progressive alliances and movements.I'm not asking that you sign on to a particular feminist agenda--just as it is in any political/consciousness movement, diversity exists to keep the conversation going, and push the ideas to be truly alive, creative and responsive to people who need help now.I'm organizing a Feminist Advisory Board for Obama and I've been writing about my ideas on Facebook, on my various blogs, on Twitter, and soon I'll be podcasting and vlogging about what I envision. My goal is to make feminism accessible to women and girls who don't identify as feminist, and to use existing online platforms for the invisibles of our country to speak about their needs "up close and personal." This is all about narrative, connection, identification, and what I'm calling subversonance...I don't speak for all feminists, nor do I want to. I'm speaking as a feminist who thinks that what the Obama campaign has set in motion is completely in sync with what feminists have already been doing and continue to do. I'm in the mix as just one of many feminists, but since I happen to feel a particular simpatico with O-activists, I'm comfortable communicating with all of you. Many feminists are still learning to love Obama, but I was on board while Hillary was still in the race, and I think Obama really gets what women's lives are like. Hurrah! So, here's what I'm asking of you, my O-sisters and O-brothers: will you have a seat at your table for Feminists? Will you open up your agendas so that you actually look to Feminists for leadership?I'm eager to hear your replies.yoursMadama
Hi Madama -Do you have a group on MyBO where others can join?If not, please take that step and start one up.CAN is all inclusive.I am sure all welcome such participation, with the caviat that we are Obama first, and within that, all interest and affinity groups tend to seek out and self organize.I am running on memory here: My recollection is that 60,000 groups formed on MyBO. 30,000 formed in the last 30 days of the general. I may be wrong on this, as others hold to different accounts. I tend to tune to Micah at TechPresident.comCAN will become a network of local teams of real people meeting face to face as real Neighborhood Teams. The focus of "within zip codes" makes action possible that has not been imagined before.I believe there is a huge need for feminist interest groups to form - and work cross-group to reach into all local teams to promote participation, education, and advocacy.Does this make sense to you? Please sign up, and list "0" attendantscoming to 11/29/2008, and that will help me keep you in the loop! All the very best to you!Paul CurrierSan Francisco
hi Paul--thanks for your reply. Although I've had a group on MyBo (ArtistsWriters4ZeitgeistObama/Interview4Obama) and have been active within Feminists for Obama, I just put in for a new group that better expresses my vision. The new group is Feminist Advisory Board for Obama, but it hasn't been approved yet.One of the things about the feminists is that we have already been doing the face-to-face for decades! The agenda has been feminist. The agenda will continue to be what women need, but as I've been fleshing out in my many writings on this issue, what's good for women is good for everyone. So, when I say that there is already leadership in the feminist community, I mean a huge network of activists that existed well before Obama came on scene. The task I'm setting for myself is to communicate with all of the groups and develop a mechanism whereby the face of feminism becomes better known, because imo, it is misunderstood. For instance, on Facebook I've started the group Feminist Advisory Board for Obama, and one of the members is a leader in the group Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance, which sponsors activities on campuses. I am now networked with that group in a meaninful way, not only because Ebony Jackson is on board in my group and vice versa, but because we have chatted online and will do a phone interview that I will podcast. This level of netlinkage needs to co-exist with what I call shoe-leather activism, and they will both belong to a system that will sprout circuits. My ultimate goal is to penetrate into groups of women who are traditionally underserved in all ways, and with that in mind, I am now in communication with other feminists who have already been working on these issues. The key to all of this is visibility. I know how to network, how to interview, how to make a video, how to podcast, and other ways to bring people together in a meaningful group process, but in order to influence public opinion, we will need eyeballs. That's why I think it's so important that all activists stay in communication. However, we don't all have to have the same agenda. I envision a time when, for instance, you will need "votes" or "voices" on a particular issue, put out the call, and all linked activists will put out the call to their networks, and regardless of where we live, we can deliver a highly visible base of support for an issue. We really need each other. Feminists need support from Obama activists in order to expand their base, and Obama activists need feminists in order to penetrate existing, powerful networks of activist women who can bring in more women.Frankly, Paul, I think I'm describing something that already exists and that will happen whether or not we agree on every dot and dash! This movement is already moving. I've been calling it subversonance. People are bouncing off of walls with excitement and energy, and I am so busy connecting with people that I'm feeling over-connected! But there's no time to stop! This thing is rollin', rollin', rollin' and I'm typing as fast as I can think to keep up with the demand for authentic communication, new directions, new solutions. I also visited O-supporters in my neighborhood (an almost completely red town) and we are now linked...and will get together for Thanksgiving...and so it goes...I'm very excited about the future and happy to be among all of you O-activists! The Feminist Advisory Board for Obama on Facebook is open to anyone, and as soon as the group on BO is approved, they will be linked. I'm also signed up on techpresident, which looks great...and communitycounts.com...and velvetrevolution...and the list goes on...onwardMadama

Please tell me America isn’t this gullible. Why does John McCain feel that he can elect a woman as his VP and somehow level the playing field with Obama and Biden? I tell you this is dirty politics at its best and it tells you that John McCain thinks the average American is stupid...
Electing Sarah is like picking your little brother to play on your team because your mother told you to, or else! It’s like getting stuck with that fat kid with no athletic ability because there’s no one else left to choose from. If the republicans think that this somehow appeals to the female voters or the Hilary supporters; I have one thing to say.
They should be ashamed of themselves. This is a slap in the American face. Hilary not only proved through her career but also over the past months that she deserved to be in the race, deserved the 18 million votes, deserved to be a part of history. Let's not blemish this landmark in history with an Average Jo-Ann, just to make a point. Hilary has set the bar and let me tell you it's pretty darn high. Who ever takes the glory of being the first woman anything, should be well worth the hype.
America please don’t be fooled and fall for these ridiculous tricks of a suffering political group. Sarah Palin isn’t someone that will compliment as a counter balance to John McCain. This is just another crony of the republican system just thrown into a skirt, (I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t have a slew of pant suits).
I think a smart move would be for Barack to announce Hilary as his number three, and then brush the McCain camp under his red carpet where they belong.
I feel so proud to be American, Trinidadian and everything else right now. I feel like Obama has put together such a movement of unity consisting of everyone around the World. When have you seen a presidential nominee that has taken the world by storm? He is loved everywhere in the World and the World is seeing change and America is seeing it too. I have never been so drawn to the presidential campagine like this. Everyday I am watching CNN and trying to find out what Obama is saying next. You know something good is about to happen when a 16 year old is excited about the presidential campagine. YES WE CAN!!!!!
If Obama doensn't win this, then I don't know what I'll do. America needs to wake up and realize that we finally have someone that can make America better. We finally have something different and this just doesn't come along every four years.

GO OBAMA GO!!!
The people in a given state don't always agree with their legislators. Nor do the state legislatures agree with the majority of people within their states. The United States was created with this in mind when they created both houses within Congress. One elected by the people, the other by the legislatures of each state. When the U.S. Constitution was created, only the essential powers necessary to carry out its reason for existing were granted to each branch of the Federal Government How is it that Congress can violate the Constitution? Good Question. I'm still trying to figure out when accepting a bribe became legal. But here is some information as to why a violation of power occured.
During the Conventions of 1787, many wise and noble men were appointed by each state in order to amend the Articles of Confederation. Upon review of the Articles, it was found that in order to accomodate the objective before them, they would need to make drastic changes. These changes, in order to be binding, would need the approval of the same body that approved the Articles of Confederation, though there had been no provision for this method of handling.
The Preamble of the Constitution begins with "We the people of the United States" and continues to state the intentions of the Constitution. Justice, domestic Tranquility, providing common defense, promote the general welfare, secure liberty, to ourselves and future generations. Expressing the individual reasons for creating the U.S. Constitution establishes intention, or motive, and gives affect to what follows. In Contract Law, (a constitution is merely a contract between two parties, in this case, the contract is created for the establishment of a Federal Government by the people amongst the several states.) the parties who formed the agreement, or are formed by the agreement, are obligated to fulfill the obligations therefor mentioned. In order to make changes to a contract, the parties affected by such change must give consent. As an example, the Bill of Rights were passed by the legislatures of the states. By ratifying the amendments, they agreed to honor them in accordance with the Preamble.
Article V. of the Constitution allows for 2 modes of ratifying amendments. I have broken down the paragraph to show logic to its purpose. It is mentioned that form is important, but not as important as the substance itself.
The Congress shall call a convention for proposing Amendments. a. whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary. b. on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states. In either case: shall be valid to all intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution a. when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several states b. by Conventions in three fourths of the several statesas the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress.Provided that no state shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.
It is important to think about how much power had been granted by the "People" of the United States to the Federal Government. First, are the acts of the Legislative, Executive. or Judicial branches meeting the purpose the Constitution was created for?
Within the jurisdiction, does the act provide: a. Justice - the exercise of authority in vindication of right by assigning reward or punishment. b. domestic Tranquility - Do you feel at ease with such acts? c. providing common defense - Do these acts ward off attacks or protect the common people and their rights? d. promote the general welfare - Do these acts further growth or progress of the people as a whole? e. secure liberty - do these acts secure the liberties of the people?
When establishing the constitution, certain powers were specifically denied to the federal government by the "People" and can only be granted by the same through a state convention. States were only allowed Direct Taxation of the people if their Constitutions (which were also formed by the people of the settlements) allowed for such. Forming a Corporation is done under similar principles, which create laws and bylaws, often consists of an 'Executive Sfaff' and a Board whose supposed interest is suppose to be relative to the common shareholders. While the executives may have relatively free reign, certain circumstances require votes in order to change any corporate bylaws or other circumstances that may affect the value of the company. In a sense, Tax Payers invest in the U.S. Government when they pay taxes, though Unconstitutional, and besides funding the general expenses of the Federal Government, other appropriations of Federal funds must meet the standards set forth above.
In the Federalist No. 85, Paragraph 11 refers to the amendment process through until the end of that publication. Hamilton wrote, "By the fifth article of the plan, the Congress will be obliged "On the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the States, which at present time amount to nine, to call a convention for proposing amendments, which shall be valid, to all intents and purposes, as part of the Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the States, or by convention in three fourths thereof. The words of this article are peremptory. The Congress 'shall call a convention." Nothing in this particular is left to the discretion of that body. And of consequence, all the declamation about the disinclination to a change vanishes in air." He goes on to ask, "Can there be any room to apprehend any such difficulty in a union on points which are merely relative to the general liberty or security of the people? We may safely rely on the disposition of the State legislatures to erect barriers against the encroachments of the national authority." So what happens now?
Not only have our rights been violated, the rights of people worldwide have been violated. We the people have no right to spread democracy. Democracy is what the U.S. Constitution replaced. It was found that Total Democracy continually failed time after time. Since the start of the Great War, Government has used tax-payer money to spread patriotic propaganda. Seems the Germans picked up on this. They supposedly used the same techniques in World War II. Part of the American Declaration of Rights sent to the Crown in England to express grievances. If you read up on it, you'll realize that American Independance was fought for the same reasons we're seeing now. The only reason I can conclude we actually got involved in WW I, was that the U.S. had been the primary source for weapons and supplies, and ultimately the only reason they weren't conquered for so long. But when they began to lose, it was realized that they would never be paid for much of the supplies which were on the Credit of those soon to have been conquered.
Everything I have stated is information available to anyone who looks for it. I highly recommend if you care about your future, look it up before dismissing my statements as false. The most alarming part of my research is that most of Congressman have law degrees. I firmly believe that a person with a degree in law should have been able to recognize of these encroachments. Instead, the federal government speaks of what it is doing for the people, and give tax breaks, etc, etc... but what they are really doing is keeping your mind off of what you might disapprove of. Everything said by a Presidential candidate is malarky. The President can suggest laws to Congress. But Congress is the true holder of any power. We've already let the government get out of control. We can't let it continue until nobody is left. If the Government is empowered solely by the people, then the people are responsible for the actions of the government. Continuing on as we are, we are only welcoming another attack.

We are at a very important point in history. Many myths about the working poor, people or color and racism are about to be shattered. Change comes hard for most and believe me the change that is about to happened in frightening to many. It must happen for our country and for us a people to move forward.
We can no longer be tied down by imaginary restraints. These myths are like invisible chains. If you are black you can't do this, they will not let you do that, etc. If you are a woman you can only go so far. If you were born in a poor or working class family your opportunities are limited by your economic status of birth. No! Senator Barack Obama has proven that you are not bound by your race and by who your parents maybe or were.
If you are ready to work and learn how to work smart you can win and win big! So don't let the pundits, the news reporters who focus on the negative, the petty politicians and even those who can't lose graciously get you off track. Keep your focus! Keep your resolve! Keep on winning!
Yes We Can!
Barack Obama for President '08

'I honestly believe that she will find a way to get out of the race before the next primaries - so as to not hurt her future and to not be blamed for hurting Mr Obama and his chances in the general election.
Here are the reasons:
