Hawaiians for Obama - Barack Obama Groups
December 7, 2008
President Elect Barack Hussein ObamaPRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICATHE WHITE HOUSE1600 Pennsylvania AvenueWashington, D.C. 20500Dear Mr. President Elect:
On behalf of all Hawaiians everywhere, we send you our warmest and most heartfelt congratulations on your election as President of the United States of America. Mere words cannot begin to convey the joy, the optimism and the intense sense of pride we collectively felt at the moment your victory was announced. Although most of us could not be with you in Grant Park on November 4th, our spirits soared as we listened to you humbly accept the honor and the responsibility of serving as the 44th President of our nation. From the moment you stepped into the public forum, we recognized in you the true embodiment of the Spirit of Aloha. The nation remarked on your strength of character, your quiet intellect, your wisdom and your spirit of peace. The media called you unflappable. We saw in you the trait most needed to guide us and lead us as one people through difficult yet promising times, He po`i na kai uli, kai ko`o, `a`ohe hina pûkoa. (Though the sea be rough and deep, the coral rock remains standing - You are the one who remains calm in the storm).
We have for so long yearned to share with the world the Spirit of Aloha. Most of us never dreamt it would be possible. In you, however, we know that spirit was nurtured and will now serve you and our nation well as you represent us on a global stage. We are proud and we are joyful. For us, you are so much more than the President-Elect, you are Mai Ka Lani Mai (Heaven sent). You are Hawai‛i’s native son. You are our ohana.
No matter what the future holds for you, for all of us, you will always have the support of your ohana. Our spirits are entwined with your spirit, your joys are our joys, your successes are our successes and when trials come remember, with ohana, your trials too are our trials.
`A`ohe pu`u ki`eki`e ke ho`â`o `ia e pi`i
(No cliff is so tall that it cannot be scaled - No problem is insurmountable when one works hard to solve it)
Aloha and mahalo nui loa for the sacrifices you have chosen to make for all of us, Hawaiians for Obama,

Or should we continue on the path to destruction that most of us realize is the one we've been on; Continue on the wrong path by remaining jaded and hard hearted towards our brothers and sisters, whatever race, creed, religious conviction, political affiliation or physical manifestation we fear, fail to recognize, accept or agree with or choose to admonish today? This is the chance Americans cannot afford to through away, discourage or belittle the significance of being THE CHANCE (MAYBE OUR LAST) OF A LIFETIME FOR A NATION! Barack Obama is here to help us re-organize ourselves so we all can start feeding the Good Dog & not the Bad Dog anymore. Let's keep it as simple as we can; Free of all the smoke and mirrors, confusion and misdirection being created everyday to rob us of this chance to prove that Freedom is the most valuable entity on Earth. Let's help Barack and Michelle Obama keep things simple and doable by making lists that are separated only once down the middle of the page, vertically ... One side of the list is the good side; Let's say the left for the sake of argument, and on the right side of the page, the bad shall be listed.Which side of the list do you suppose we need to follow; If there is a question as to which side of the list something belongs on, that's what we probably need to vote on and mandate laws backing up the majority decision with the mandates. In 1955, when racism was still a big issue in the United States of America, Ella Fitzgerald became the first African-American to perform at the Mocambo, after Marilyn Monroe had lobbied the owner for the booking. The booking was instrumental in Fitzgerald's career. Marilyn would promise the owner that she would appear every night (and be on time), and this way also fill the house--and she did, she was there every night, and she filled the house and: she was always on time! Their close friendship lasted for many years and Ella would sing Marilyn Monroe's famous 'My Heart Belongs To Daddy' in honor of her wonderful friend Marilyn Monroe, who died almost 34 years before she passed on in 1996, at age 79. Here are now some animated smiley with Obama and I hope it will be well to use.
Please, look into my goggle blogs. There is now the next and could be more. (goggle blog) Of course I need a reply to know what people want use for Onama campaign.
I deleted there the text of script I had written in a textarea already because imagined it was too difficult and will give message exactly to questions if somebody of campaign will have a need for.
My main point to make such animated pictures was: I want help the Obama blogger to get a rating and so I was beginning to make it for using like a helper for connection to rating sites.
Why an action for rating? - Because we don't have still a rating for Obama blogs here and because of the need for my idea is to use rating sites and Obama supporter could help each other to bring well blogs more to the front. If this is running the blogs will get more traffic and at last it could running alone. Sometimes need a beginning.
So please, if you are interested, take a look down my blog, it is in every post of the blog because of script, and there is connection to "Diig it" and "tecnorati". In addition it is inside script of sitemeter.
I was new with such stuff and had to find out myself, but I am offer to help other Obama blogger!
I'm gonna have to start archiving my Obama blogs!
JTB, I've gotta thank you for this, as I never expected it to be cited!
She cited my post, CNN talks about Babbling Babies: Well, they have a point, but... on her blog, Mommy's precious little political pundit!
I am honored and amazed that my blog has been cited on someone else's blog!
I've cited other blogs which I've thought were important or notable, but I've never expected it to happen to me!
Thanks,
EMK
Bitter people do different things out of bitterness. For example, Reverend Wright went to church and exercised his freedom of speech and freedom of religion and preached from the pulpit on subject matters that were inappropriate. Dick Cheney exercised his freedom to bear arms and shot his fellow hunter. G.W. Bush exercised his executive privilege and invaded Iraq pre-emptively. Lou Dobbs gets on the air and sighs about the invasion of millions of illegal aliens. John McCain runs for president so that he could stay in Iraq for 100 years because he could not live with the shame of another Vietnam. Hillary runs for president because that would make Monica very afraid. Barack runs for president because he wants to disarm terrorist leaders not with arms but with dialog punctuated by his disarming smile. Anderson Cooper gets his own show AC 360 to dazzle all the gay gentlemen around the world with his brilliance and then flashes his cute smile to torture them. And powerless me, I get to blog till I die, then I get to be buried in the cyber tomb of the unknown blogger.
Hello Enlightened Ones who champion a better America!
Today on "Hardball with Chris Matthews", Chris shared about a recording of our future president using the word "bitter" to describe the feelings of some of the unemployed. The point is that the media, Hillary, and McCain are trying to act like they don't know the expansive definition of the word "bitter". According to Merriam-Webster, the word "bitter" is defined as "expressive of severe pain, grief, or regret". Now either they are all attempting to play the general public stupid by running with a manipulated use of "bitter", or they don't know any better. At any rate, I suggest that Barack call a press conference, bring a dictionary, and reiterate the need to make Education a greater priority in this nation. Thanks for listening.
Love 2 love u,
Dr. See Love
Here is a list of my most frequently checked sites, with a basic description of each site, though some of you may have already found many of these. I hope these sites prove useful to you all in satisfying your curiosity about current events and in finding information to help advocate for our candidate: #1. Daily Kos http://www.dailykos.com/ Currently my favorite site, this is one of the largest online repositories of Democratic Party activists, in the form of a broad forum of "Diaries" in which members submit stories which are then commented on and/or "recommended" by members. "Recommended" diaries are then displayed on the front page, and a few are featured on the running blog on the main site. It's free to join and post your own diary entries, although you can still view the entire site without logging in. I have found many big stories on this site, and the community is generally very favorable towards Obama. However, the discussions on there have recently degraded into some childish bickering, so be prepared if you plan on posting on there. This is my top choice for Obama supporters looking for constructive feedback on how best to advocate for our candidate, and the stories are generally self-aggrandizing, if not just supportive of Obama. Look here for encouragement on how best to help Obama, though be wary of tunnel vision created by reading posts from those preaching to the choir. It's important to be aware that the site started as a Democratic Party community, and in many ways it has been at the head of helping our party everywhere (i.e. Congressional/Senatorial, and Gubernatorial elections, among others), by bringing online activists from all over the country to cooperate in a number of ways. It has only recently become a bastion of Obama support, though there are still Hillary supporters on this site. #2. The Page, by Mark Halperin http://thepage.time.com/ Time's correspondent Mark Halperin keeps a running tab on all the big news regarding the campaigns, and I have frequently found the biggest and latest stories on his site first. I have found it to be the easiest way to pinpoint big national stories and how they are being reported in the mainstream media, and I do generally feel as though he is objective, if not as astute in deconstructing the arguments of various campaigns. #3. Ben Smith's POLITICO.com Blog http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/ This is the running blog of Ben Smith, a correspondent for Politico.com, and his information is second to none with regards to rapidity and import, although it almost exclusively focuses on the Democrats. I have found him to be objective in covering both sides, so don't go here for exclusively friendly Obama commentary, but hearing the bad and the good is always important. #4. MyDD: Direct Democracy
http://www.mydd.com/
As is always important in advocating for your candidate, you must be aware of the arguments against him or her, and be willing to address and hopefully confront those arguments to convince others to support our campaign. MyDD is in many ways analogous to DaliyKos, but with many more Hillary supporters here. Users submit entries, and users vote and comment on them. Here the vitriol against Obama is strong, but no less inaccurate in some respects to the anger pitted against Hillary on Daily Kos. You can expect inaccuracies and even outright lies about Obama on here, but be wary that the same (only against Clinton) can be found in the aforementioned Daily Kos. However, you may notice, as I have, some tendencies for a growing number of Obama supporters to post on here, hopefully a sign of sea changes in the party support for one candidate or another. Keep tabs on here to see how Obama's message is sinking in among those who are strong supporters of the other candidate. If we can convince the people on here to support our campaign, it will be a sure sign we are uniting the party. Find the opposite, and you can expect fierce battles in other elections. I have found the site helpful in order to be able to anticipate many of the arguments people level against Obama, which is useful if only for when you knock on doors and/or call voters, because many of them may have heard the same arguments used on this site, and we must be able to answer them with the best response: the truth, even if it isn't perfectly rosy. #5. The Huffington Post http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ The online newspaper established by political notable/pundit/advoctate Ariana Huffington. It is a good intermediary between the the news floating through the blogosphere and the mainstream media. In addition, I have found the site to have occasionally relevant stories critiquing the media's coverage of various stories. The paper's location outside of the main media has allowed for some important criticism of various coverage, but it also means that you can expect bias in the stories if not simple and quickly written stories. Often, articles link to other media outlets. You can also find running commentary on the news from various pundits and celebrities, including some serious and some humorous, but often important or relevant. Also, expect to see a pro-Obama bias here in the headlines and choice of stories, and it is often quick to point out negative news about Hillary, though there are sometimes columns arguing against Obama. #6. CNN Political Ticker http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/ This is a good source for a rundown of CNN's picks for the most significant recent news stories, though I wouldn't characterize the quality or consistency as very good. It mostly serves as a good place to find the major notable events as CNN (one of the media's biggest outlets). I consider it a good barometer of mid-level news stories about the campaign, and sometimes a good indication of which stories CNN may choose to ask it's pundits to comment on, which in tern will give you a sense of what issues voters may be hearing about. #7. MSNBC First Read http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/ This is another major media outlet's blog, in this case belonging to MSNBC. It's a good indication of how the media and it's pundits will characterize the news, and you can expect more favorable coverage of Hillary on here (just my cursory observation). #8. ABC News The Note http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/TheNote/ Yet another major media outlet's blog, this one shows some of ABC's pundit's views, though with fewer regular updates. The advantage this site has is a running narrative of the events of the past few days. #9. NY Times The Caucus http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/ And now we turn to our final news outlet blog, The Caucus from Hillary's home turf paper, the New York Times. If your like me you've found plenty of examples when the New York Times has used any excuse to characterize events in this campaign favorably towards Hillary, even if it's subtle. The Caucus is somewhat similar, though perhaps some of my perspective comes from my strong support of Obama rather than from any substantial evidence. #10. Pollster.com http://www.pollster.com/ And finally we have the source for a survey of various polls of states, including records of polls from concluded primaries and caucuses. This site is a great source for looking at the race as it stands in various contests throughout the country, though the notable exception as of this writing (3/8/08) is no polls of Indiana.
i am always frustrated by clinton, her surrogates, and her supporters telling blatant lies or sharing factually inaccurate information to trick voters. perhaps even more so, i am frustrated by obama gurus who share factually inaccurate information on here even when i know they have the best of intentions... at least i hope we are not misrepresenting our competitor or our very own candidate's record as tools of persuation. i am confident clinton has sufficient skeletons in her closet and obama has proven himself the best qualified leader.
i always say:
clinton = political calculation to meet the popular opinion
obama = moral calculation to meet the consistent greater good
furthermore, i continue to read single sentence "blogs" that don't pose any type of debate or simply restate the obvious. i always want to comment: "thanks captain obvious" but i resist that rude tempation. in addition, i read the comments the some of us are leaving and they are simply disrespectful or rude... yet, i will still giggle because people attempt to embarass the blogger with whom they disagree or find lacking in brain cells... and yet, many times, the ones leaving the comments are the most lacking in brain cells and say the darnest things.
julie hensley of virginia and christopher of ohio commented on a brief blog about clinton advertising on american idol and obama not. julie was quite abrasive and told the blogger to read a book because she thinks that american idol is boring. christopher must have thought he knew about successful elements in a marketing campaign. christopher said that obama doesn't need ad buys on american idol because his campaign is more successful on the phones and in the field. clearly, both are misinformed. the truth is that i agree american idol is a boring program. i am also embarrassed for my country that more people prefer to vote for an american idol than for the past few american presidents.however, the reason that clinton would have bought air time with this program is because american idol consistently rates number one, or close to it, in adults 18-34 and teens. while teens can't vote, 18-34 is a key demographic.on the other hand, the cost of ad buys are based on ratings. this is why super bowl air time is expensive. likewise, american idol ad buys aren't cheap. i am surprised that clinton's team invested in american idol air time to reach 18-34 demographic when they are also paying to reach teens who can't vote. but given how much campaign donations her team reportedly spent on parking, i shouldn't be surprised by any squandering of cash by our competitor. good for them. more than likley, obama's team has decided to do ad buys with programs that reach key demographics made up of more eligible voters. this strategy would yield a better return on investment based on projected eligible voters per ad buy.i don't watch tons of tv, but rest assured, i've seen dozens of obama commercials in ohio. i've seen clinton also, but i would estimate that obama airs just as many... if not more.as for ad buys and why candidates would want to be on tv... obama is effective through rallies and his ground work is a force to be reckon with... but never underestimate the unparallel reach of advertising. not only do you reach people that don't follow the news or have phone numbers in the phone banks... you reinforce obama's messaging to those with who you have already spoken.be smart. where's that united spirit that this movement is all about? i went as far as to comment on julie's latest blog and let her know how disrespectful she proved herself to be in her remarks above. duh.
for those of you that see factually inaccurate information shared on here, call it out! prevent spreading bad information... even when it supports obama. the worse one is about clinton only authoring and signing into law 20 bills during her first term as a senator. the bulletin/message lists how many bills were authored or co-sponsored by obama as a comparison to clinton. come on. i support obama and he is more productive than clinton, but the comparison i describe is so much misleading that i would assert that ithe author is bordering on a lie. clinton authored more like 177 in a two year period at the end of her first term, co-sponsored tons more, and earmarked others. obama's record is still solid, but one day people using that info will be called out by somone on clinton's side that knows better.
by the way, i'll end this rant with a pdf that i stumbled across. it is unathorized marketing material and does not reinforce the campaign's messaging and brilliant logo... so i do not share this as a handout, but as a reference to anyone who would like to know more about obama's state senate record which catapulted obama into the us senate with the biggest victory on record!
http://manchester.ucsd.edu/misc/obama-state-senate.pdf
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
on the other hand, this link makes for the start to a great handout. i see people creating their own marketing material, and i would advise deviating from the official branding... the look and message of the official campaign reinforced by this site. as an additional tip, at a minimum, there should be the date of the election, the web site address, and the official logo.
http://www.barackobama.com/downloadsv2/files/posters/obama_08.pdf
this is a great pdf because it reinforces the slogan and web site. it would be ideal to switch out the 2-color logo at the bottom for the main red-white-blue logo and add "vote march 4" towards the bottom right corner under the web address. in fact, if there was an artists with indesign, i would also suggest adding bullets to the bottom 25%, reducing the image area to emphasize polices from this site important to ohioans. for instance, health care and economy and use the two bullets from barack's commericial. very simple and clean. people don't like to read too much and those who do, will visit the web site. that is why every flyer and poster should have a web address for the main homepage!
messaging parity: the poor man's method of branding. creating material that looks different than the web site, signs people have seen on tv, etc... is less effective than messaging and flyers that do look the same and repeat the same message. a consistent appearance and message is vital in effective marketing campaigns.

I have good news for those of you that are getting tired of hearing from me and Jason...In addition to the return of high schooler Carey Markoe, we've added a new blogger, Luke Messac. In order for you to get a better idea of who Luke is and why he supports the Obama movement for change I asked him to write a short testimonial:
On a warm evening in late July 2004 in Albany, New York, I sat with my family in front of the television awaiting the speech that would capture the ideals of our nation. But sitting there, I did not foresee all that; all I knew then was that an unlikely favorite in the Illinois Senate race was to speak, and that he—like myself—was the son of a black immigrant father and a white American mother. I was intrigued by the prospect of a man with a heritage similar to my own on the verge of becoming a United States Senator. Yet I suspected, for the moment, that I would find little more in common with Barack Obama. But I did find much more, as did most everyone I met who listened that night. From my compatriots in AIDS activism, to the guys on my baseball team, to fellow students I would meet upon entering college that fall, the common feeling was undeniable. When Obama asked “if you feel the same energy that I do, if you feel the same urgency that I do, if you feel the same passion that I do, if you feel the same hopefulness that I do,” we knew, collectively, that we did. His vision for America was our own. Yet as inspiring as his words were, I needed to know more. I wanted to make sure that Barack Obama had dedicated his life to the ideals he expressed so eloquently that night. So I did some research; I read his books and talked to friends from Chicago who had known Barack Obama long before I ever heard of him. Soon, I knew his words were anything but empty rhetoric. From years as a student activist, a community organizer, a civil rights lawyer, a professor of constitutional law, a state legislator and a U.S. Senator emerged a man with a proven record of positive change, a deep commitment to justice, and an abiding respect for the dignity and worth of every human being. Students who devote their time to service and advocacy around issues both local and global know how crucial it is that decision-makers share our commitment to solving today’s most stubborn challenges. Most of all, we need a president who has spent his life with his shoulder pressed against the wheel of history, pushing it forward. A president who knows that to stand still is to surrender our chance for a better world. I've decided to press my shoulder against the wheel of history, as many other students have, so that Barack does not have to push it on his own. The more people we have standing together, the easier that wheel will turn. Ultimately, this is not about Barack Obama, and it's certainly not about me. This is a movement to create a better America for generations to come. And I know that in January of 2009, we will reflect proudly on the movement of change that we led.
