Today is the official first full day of Barack Obama becoming our nations president. (Sweet!) Right now I am hoping that he will fix are country, not just hoping, praying. There is one thing he is doing that is worrying me, and that is the 800 billion dollars he is about to spend on energy and such. But one thing is for sure, thank god Cheney is gone. Within the next few weeks I trust that he will make some good decicions for our country. No, to talk about the Inauguration. First off Aretha Franklin..... well I know old peoples voices are not exactly great but that was kinda... bad. I mean she was fabulous but that was a while ago, sorry Aretha. I was so excited when Biden got sworn in. Too cool. And the Air and Simple Gifts with Yo Yo Ma and the crew was sooooo beautiful. After it went over noon though it was kinda funny. Has that ever happened before? I didn't know that if you don't take oath before noon your still president, pretty cool. Next Obama tripped up on his repittition of the oath which I couldn't help but laugh at. His speech was so moving, it was so well done. After all that was over it was time for the Inaugural Balls. Michelle Obama's dress was breathtaking! She is so lovly and such a good role model. Until the next thing interesting enough to talk about or when I'mn bored, blog you next time.

Talk with your heart...not with your head!

Barack; you're doing the same thing Kerry did...nothing!!! I've been a lifelong Democrat but the last 3 presidential elections and this current presidential campaign have left me very angry..no very Goddammed angry. How do you expect to convince the country that you can be a forceful leader, a forceful protecter, a forceful president when you let mccain/palin slap you in the face time after time with your continued whimpy, passionless responses? I want a president who, though is capable of restraint, but will not let his restraint allow himself to become a whipping boy. Look, I too am an intellectual. I have 3 undergraduate degrees and one masters but I will not let someone slander me interminably without picking up the gauntlet and slapping the SOB hard across the face. Yes, you do not want to alienate voters who you fear would cringe at such a response but let me tell you they will not. I live in Chicago, which as you know is a town of Democrats but everyone I talk to is, like me, very angry to see their Presidential aspirant being interminably slapped around and want you to start slapping back and slapping back hard. There is so much "truthful" information out there to slap back with its ridiculous to continue with intellectual retorts. Also, stop holding the independent political groups that want to start slapping back and punching when you're punched. I find it outrageous that you have reined them in. Let them do what they will. If I had a 527 under my rein I would not listen to you if you tried to stop me...you couldn't HELL NO! When someone I respect and care about is attacked the SOB that's attacking will regret the day he merely fantasized about his first attack. How can you expect the American people vote you to become president if they can't see you have the balls to attack back when attacked by people for whom diplomacy is a whimpy option. I saw your speech at the 2004 Democratic convention and you inspired me and millions of others because you had the guts, no more than guts, the balls to say what had to be said and I keep waiting for you to show the same courage and passion you showed then. Hell, the whole country is waiting for you to show that same passion and courage!!! Stop letting your head dictate your responses...start using your heart. Come on guy, you've got the balls...start using them, again.

Frustrated in Colorado

Here we go again. The Republican attack machine is going full speed ahead and the Democrats sit back and take it. I know all about the moral high ground. You should ask John Kerry about the moral high ground. It is nice to think that you can run a nice clean race, only advertising about how good you are, but the Republicans will crush you if you take this stance.

There is nothing more frustrating than watching a good man get beaten because he doesn't stand up for himself and reply to the attack ads. All John Kerry had to do in '04 was to say "Hey, at least I went to Viet Nam!" and it would have shut up all the swiftboaters. But, no, he took the moral high ground. At least he can say that he fought a nice, clean fight. Of course, he is not saying it from the White House.

I have put in time for Obama and will continue to do so, but I don't know if I can sit back and watch the Republican machine roll over another good man. It is time to stand up and fight back otherwise you may as well call it quits.

I know what most of you will say; we don't want to sink to their level. That isn't the question. The question is do you want to win. You can't effect change from the outside looking in.
