Tomorrow, October 31st, Governor Jennifer M. Granholm will speak at a Get Out The Vote Canvass Kick-Off in Traverse City to mobilize and energize Michigan voters. With only five days until the election, Barack Obama’s Campaign for Change is taking nothing for granted in Michigan. Tomorrow’s event is the campaign’s latest attempt to inform and motivate voters across the state, in a campaign that continues to gain momentum and fight for every last vote in the state, in the lead up to November 4th.
In Grand Rapids, Michigan House Speaker Pro Tempore Michael G. Sak will join with other Grand Rapids area elected officials to show their support for Barack. They will talk about how Barack's plan for jobs, tax relief, energy independence, and health care reform will bring the change West Michigan needs.
And, since it's Halloween, we'll be holding "Trick-or-Vote" canvasses kicking off on college campuses around Michigan. Volunteers dressed in Halloween costumes will canvass their communities, encouraging supporters to help us Get Out The Vote in this crucial period! We'll also be encouraging those who are eligible to vote absentee - especially since November 1st, the day after, is the only Saturday where clerks will be open for absentee voting.
Join us at one of the events tomorrow!

With only nine days left until the most important election of our lifetimes, the Obama campaign continues to build momentum in Michigan. Today we'll open yet another new office, in Ann Arbor. State Senator Liz Brater will help open the office, which will work with grassroots Ann Arbor Obama supporters to provide opportunities to participate in campaign events, to volunteer, and to serve as a resource for the community.
Also, Governor Granholm will campaign for Barack across West Michigan today, helping to kick off canvasses in Muskegon Heights, Grand Rapids, and Ionia. If you can't make it to Ann Arbor or any of the three West Michigan offices with Governor Granholm, offices across the state will also be hosting canvass kickoffs and phone banks throughout the day. With the Lions blacked out on local television and the election so close, there's never been a better Sunday to get involved in this historic campaign for change.

Campaign for Change opened 18 offices across the state yesterday. The turnout and enthusiasm was tremendous. After the openings everyone went out a registered voters.
Here are some photos from yesterday’s event in Ann Arbor.
I have been trying to find an Official Obama canvassing event within 150 - 175 mi of Ann Arbor. I have not been successful in my search so far.
If 2-3 people are interested in traveling to Indiana this weekend, I am willing to drive (leaving from Ann Arbor, MI).
If you can locate an Official Obama event and are interested in carpooling please let me know. I stress "official" because in the event that we decide to stay overnight (May 5th), the Obama organizers can assist with housing search.

As we all know, this is a very important primary. Let's get on our feet and knock on some doors!
I hope to hear from some fellow Michiganders soon!

Hi all,
This Sunday I met with Plymouth People for Obama in Plymouth MI. Though I ended up getting to the meeting only 15 minutes before it was over (thanks to Google maps sending me down a road that no longer exists...) I met a wide diverse group of people. Most suprising was that the meeting was organized and attended by a few Episcopalians. I don't know much about their brand of Christianity, but I had written off Christians being in the Democratic party for some time. Can you blame me? The mood in the air is enough to make you drop dead due to poisoning. Needless to say, I was pleasantly suprised with the enthusiasm and the love of Barack I saw at that meeting. I hope in the coming months to canvas and hold events with them.
So my advice is this...
It has been quite a week! Outside of juggling real life, there are plenty of things going on for Barack! We are very excited to see how well he is doing with the public. It seems all you have to do is mention his name and people are interested in talking about him.
I will be attending a meeting in Ann Arbor to see what other folks are doing to get started. This is Amazing! In only one week after his announcement, over 1000 groups have been started. You can check to see if there is any attendance room available at the meeting on March 10th. The information is below.
