Last Thursday, the VP debate took place. It pretty much was a copy of the first Presidential debate. Biden did a great job and actually answered all of the questions while it has been proven that Sarah Palin didn't answer 10 of them.
Polls already show that Biden one by a long shot. In fact, I think he did a better job then Obama. I guess picking Biden was a wise choice.
Sarah Palin on the other hand didn't do that well at the polls. However she did exceed expectations. Which was true in some moments in the debate.
One thing that I didn't like about the debate was how palin talked and mispronounced so many words, to
names a few: "joe sixpack" "nucular"
c'mon!!!!

Salvation is Here!
Well, after many thousands of years of being tormented by probably the most common of the Seven Deadly Sins, humanity is about to be rid of one of them thanks to John McCain. He now promises to crush the "Greed" that has driven Wall Street into shambles this year. Whew!
Granted, we'll all probably do a lot better with "Sloth" now that "Greed" and its many shiny objects are out of our way. Granted getting rid of "Greed" will give us a lot less to be "Envious" about. But I can't help but worry that "Lust," "Gluttony," "Wrath," and "Pride" will swell to fill the void left by the abeyance of these other three.
Swollen Leftover Sins
Just look what they've done to McCain's own campaign, for example. Let's assume he's found some way, that he will soon share with the rest of us (like his plans to catch Bin Laden, and his plans to "win" the war, secrets he has kept assiduously to himself for seven long years so they must be really awesome!), to keep Greed at bay; and let's further assume Envy and Sloth have paled along with Greed in his campaign soul such that he is no longer comparing himself unfavorably to Obama's 'celebrity' status (must be Palin's influence...), and no longer idling around while the democrats keep sparring (he was kind of forced from Sloth on that score, but we all have to take inspiration where it comes). But the remaining four Deadly Sins seem to be really weighing down the McCain campaign (or buoying it up, according to your political ethics).
Unbridled Lust for power seems to have forcefully unseated "honor" as the internal justification for campaign strategies and objectives. The "ambition" that McCain himself acknowledged years ago as the source of his Keating Five scandal bad judgment seems to be running at full tilt again. With the Presidency in view, Lust seems to have overcome the 'better judgment' he promised us when the Keating Five debacle embarassed him before us all. Moreover, the McCain campaign has as a key Catholic advisor someone who had to leave a tenured professorship over Lust-ful misconduct with a student (this was/is Deal Hudson, whom McCain refuses to fire from the campaign, and who is quoted in a page one story in today's NYTimes).
Gluttony has certainly replaced originality of insight in the McCain campaign's approach to messaging. It has taken to gobbling up every message that seems to "work" with voters, regardless of whether that message is Obama's ("Change," "Enough") or whether that message is completely contradictory to the principled positions that McCain himself has held for decades (embracing regulatory policy, tax cuts for the rich, overturning Roe v. Wade, embracing 'agents of intolerance', drilling, etc.)
Wrath is about the only word I can come up with for McCain's only stated reason for running such an astonishingly negative campaign. He keeps saying that had Obama appeared with him at Town Hall meetings, the tone of the campaign would have been different. So, the tone of the campaign is negative out of some spiteful sense of revenge for not getting to appear WITH Obama? That's a little weird, but not unheard of among people who have a hard time modulating their hostility, as McCain so clearly does (just ask anyone in the Senate that he's cursed out over the years, or Mika Breszinski whom he attacked unprovoked yesterday at the very start of an interview [I guess that doesn't count as sexism?]). Boy, Wrath is sure confusing!
Pride is about the only thing that has remained intact from the beginnings of McCain's political career, but the time in the spotlight has now caused it to grow to malignancy proportions. A man who writes about "Courage" because, in part, he recognizes himself as Courageous is someone who spends his life courting Pride. I guess the courtship has ended, and a lifetime commitment has taken its place. How many times a week do we hear "I KNOW how to do this," and "I KNOW how to do that" and how often must his family and runningmate remind us that ONLY JOHN MCCAIN can save us from all that people like John McCain have wrought in our lives (well, that may be a little true...if redemption means anything).
Hands Off My Greed!
Looking at these results, I'd have to say that McCain should not focus on eradicating Greed, one of the standing conditions of human nature. The consequence of removing this fundamental motive of human conduct seems to be the dangerously pathological metastases of some other Deadly Sins. Instead, he might focus on the policies and objectives of what effective government might need to do in light of the overwhelming orientation to self-interest that is built into our human nature and the very cornerstone of our market economy. At the very least, I don't see how he could square his pro-greed tax policies with his new anti-greed message, but fortunately for his own balance right now Gluttony has made that contradiction of little import to him. But for the rest of us, these moral and economic tensions are a disaster in progress and a catastrophe in the making. McCain's plan to empanel a 9/11-Style Commission to study the issues that have wrought chaos in our markets and terror at our kitchen tables may betoken one creative idea in his campaign: the final formalization of the new Deadly Sin that Bush/Cheney have been working to instill in the American soul, "Confusion".
Consequences of The Eighth Deadly Sin
Self-inscribed "Confusion" will be the undoing of all of us if we don't get this election right. The punishment will be a country that we won't want to recognize. Fortunately, we might be too confused to recognize it when it comes to pass.
Saturday September 13th the News and Observer will be distributing a DVD to their 160,000 subscribers entitled "Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West" If anyone hasn't heard about this movie you can view the trailer here.
I don't know about you but I do not remember any other time where a news paper has ever sent out a DVD let alone one that his very biased and portrays Islam as an extremist religion!!!!!!!
I find it quite appaling that this type of garbage would be sent out to further instill fear into the public. It again puts innocent Muslims on the defensive and makes them worry about backlash.

Is Mrs. Sarah Palin's speech consider Manifest Destiny

What is your Opinion?
Governor Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) appeared on Meet the Press this Sunday, August 31, 2008. He is the national co-chair of the McCain campaign and was invited to speak of the announcements made late last week as well as the Republican National Convention that will kick-off tomorrow, provided that Hurricane Gustav does not turn our attention towards tragedy in the Gulf.
Pawlenty said of Gov. Sarah Palin, "she has AS MUCH OR MORE EXPERIENCE AS BARACK OBAMA, who is running for president."
Are you serious? Read the full quotes and text in my extended post.
After months of slamming Barack Obama for "inexperience," here's who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency: a right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.
Huh?
Who is Sarah Palin? Here's some basic background:
She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience. (1)
Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest. (2)
She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. (3)
Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools. (4)
She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change. (5)
The announcement today came as a complete and utter shock to me. It was John McCain himself, who spoke on mainstream media, that said that his main criteria for a vice-presidential candidate was someone who above all "was the most ready to step in as commander-in-chief if something were to happen to him," (those may not be the exact word but the meaning of his words were to that effect). Then came today, August 29th, 2008, and McCain made his decision... The Vice-Presidencial candidate would be none other than... SARAH PALIN!!!
...Wait... who?...
What happened to Mitt Romney, Time Pawlenty, or all the others that were rumored to be the frontrunners for the slot next to the "Maverick"? This was definately a choice out of left field for the Republicans.
I don't want anyone to take my shock the wrong way, I mean this is extremely good news for the Democrats. Throughout the entire campaign the main flow in Obama's candidacy was his lack of experience in forieng policy and in Washington. Then they go and choose a person that holds the following credentials:
I am in no way trying to discredit her accomplishments, but nothing above screams forieng policy experience. Watching the republicans try to defend this choice has been rather entertaining, however. Their main argument is that our candidate (Obama) is just as inexperienced as theirs. That Obama has less "executive" experience as Palin. That... stutter, stutter, mumble, mumble...
McCain went contrary to his message throughout the campaign of experience over so called rhetoric. But I would argue that Obama has plenty of, what I would call, executive experience; perhaps more than Palin, in a sense. Now I don't know the exact numbers off the top of my head but bear with my argument and consider it. The Obama is the head of his campaign, a campaign that I would argue has more people worling for it than does the government of Alaska. Therefore Obama trumps her management and leadership skills. Also, Obama's campaign handles a budget that is perhaps larger than that of the State of Alaska, proving his ability to handle monetary issues.
All I'm saying is that this election is ours to take. We are going against a weak ticket. McCain clearly picked Palin in a desperate attempt to woo the undecided Hillary constituancy. I beleive that Hillary's supporters are much to smart to fall for that rouse and should actually feel insulted that McCain would try such a move as to assume that that woman would vote for someone soley because she was female. Take a look at Palin's stance on the issues (especially those that affect women). Her ultra-conservative record would make her out to be the anti-Hillary.
Get out, let loud, get proud dems.!!!
We have to take this election!!! I nor anyone can afford to suffer through 4 more years of a republican White House!!
Peace & Love,
--Juan Higuera
I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I really hope that Obama's chosen running-mate will be Colon Powell.
Imagine the looks on the faces of the extremist right-winged conservatives if this union was announced. That's truly reaching across party lines and I'm sure that Republicans won't have much to say about the team's ability to handle foreign relations or military issues.

While I'd be happy with any VP whose name doesn't ryhme with Pillary Plinton, my pick would be Bill Richardson for VP.
Hey gals & guys,
I am so happy that Obama won the nomination. I loved his speech, I thought he was gracious to Hillary and inspirational as always.
He took a firm stance against McCain's comments from earlier that evening. He did a very good job all around.
I do have to say that being a former Bill Clinton campaign volunteer, I am quite disappointed by his overall comments of Obama. His wife Hillary was someone I thought of supporting this election as well. I became quite disillusioned with them both and tonight even more so about Hillary. She showed a severe lack of respect by not congratulating Obama tonight. It just showed a total lack of class.
I know many are talking about the "dream ticket" idea, but after tonight I am even more certain that Obama should not give her the V.P. position. I just don't feel she is at all deserving of it and her lack of recognition for his achievement makes me think this even more.
What does everyone else think?
Best,Lorelai
In examining the options for Obama to appeal to Clinton fans, Paul Krugman writes: "What about offering Mrs. Clinton the vice presidency? If I were Mr. Obama, I’d do it. Adding Mrs. Clinton to the ticket — or at least making the offer — might help heal the wounds of an ugly primary fight. Here’s the point: the nightmare Mr. Obama and his supporters should fear is that in an election year in which everything favors the Democrats, he will nonetheless manage to lose. He needs to do everything he can to make sure that doesn’t happen." It's surprising that Krugman's reasoning doesn't appear to factor in what Obama supporters might think. Obama repeatedly has urged voters to rebel against the "same old politics" and the "past" - each becoming a buzzword for Hillary. Now Krugman appeals to Obama to include a person who symbolizes all Obama rallied people against? A lot of people seem to be drinking KoolAid flavored tea for election season. Liz Trotta, on Fox, in discussing Hillary's assassination comment, actually said it would be good to kill Osama and Obama both.

Yes, she lost it: her cool, the race, her political and grassroots base, and her trustworthiness, not to mention any hope of ever attaining a position in any administration, let alone leading one.
Leave it at that. For better or worse, she's a Democrat.
Leave her alone. Now's the time to make sure that her supporters know and feel that they're needed and welcome.
Move on.
