The latest FAO report warned governments around the world food production must increase substantially in coming years to meet the growing world population. Specifically, it was estimated to be 70 per cent increase over the next 40 years to meet the food demand of over nine billion people, besides addressing the impact of climate change. It is therefore surprising as from Brussels to continue to send out messages while reducing crop yields and farmers are punished with low profitability that delivers both effort. A policy that leads us astray and without the necessary permits generational change that meet the strong demand that we are headed and food crises that can whip the world if we are unable to articulate answers. FAO has taken us back to reality after the Forum of Senior Experts who have tried "Feeding the World in 2050" and the warning that the exponential growth in food demand will be aggravated by global agriculture suffer the consequences of climate change before the predictable rise in temperatures, increased rainfall variability and extreme weather events more frequent. Experts say that the combined effect of population growth, strong income growth in countries such as China, Brazil and India, or flight of rural population to big cities will lead to almost double demand for food, feed and fiber . From this UN agency suggests that agriculture will have no choice but to be more productive to meet a demand that will grow exponentially in the coming years. While in Europe the way it goes in the opposite direction and the consequences can be extremely serious but will react in time. We are going from 6,000 million to 9,000 million people on the planet as climate change will reduce water availability, increased pests and diseases of animals and plants, as reported by FAO. It also points to the combined effects of climate change may lead to reduced production potential of up to 30 percent in Africa and 21 percent in Asia as its population grows exponentially which undoubtedly will generate social tensions and migrations famine. Then there is the market for biofuels, with production will increase by nearly 90 percent during the next decade and reach 192.000millones liters in 2018 which will cause new episodes of food crises that suffer the poorest countries, especially in Africa. An estimated 44,000 million will be needed per year in development assistance for investment in agriculture in developing countries, compared to 7,800 million is being spent now, almost six times even though in recent years has been recorded a worrying decline in solidarity. The crisis has revealed the selfishness of the richest countries, with some honorable exceptions like the case of Spain which has increased its contributions to the poorest countries. The FAO warns that it is urgent to prevent food shortages and calls on countries worldwide to increase their production to the expected food shortages. In fact, the great world powers are gaining vast expanse of land to ensure future supply and curiously the largest land purchase operations are being conducted in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. The goal of FAO is to reach an agreement for the complete and rapid eradication of hunger, so that all people on Earth can enjoy the most fundamental of human rights: the right to food. However, the statistics are staggering hunger from many decades ago while humanitarian aid is now at record lows. The fight against hunger in the world seemed to be moving at last in the last quarter century. Between 1970 and 1997 the number of hungry people fell from 959 million to 791 million, mainly due to advances made in this regard as population giants China and India. From mid-nineties, however, the trend reversed, and the number of hungry people in developing countries began to increase at more than a million per year, after accelerating to the current issue of 1.000 million, the highest in history. It's time to say enough is enough. it's time to hear the cries of thousands of children dying by the selfishness of a world that has to switch between all, especially on days like today where we can do together.

“Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” – simple yet meaningful creation by the renowned American Poet – Robert Lee Frost.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep,And miles to go before I sleep,And miles to go before I sleep.
Only if the authorities in power – the corporations and the governments alike, in the contemporary world honor the commitment to their people and prioritize the promise to the general population over personal quest for profit, privilege, prestige and politics,
Perhaps, it might be possible to wipe out the global problems such as poverty, disease and war polluting the planet and restore the deep, dark and lovely woods that once used to be the nature’s paradise.
The past week event involving the release of two American journalists – Laura Ling and Euna Lee through high profile diplomacy aided with the former President Bill Clinton’s visit is a confirmation that communication and dialogue can be effective in resolving international crisis.

seems to paint a very bleak picture about our use of technology by our governments today. The UK is guilty of incorrectly implementing a technology, which when tested by a TRUE hacker, was cloned in under 12 minutes.
The catch is the government owes us no explanation per se, they do as they will and change things as they please. My request to Obama, is put more faith in the people especially those all using advanced technology (as you are Mr.Blackberry man)...to at least push the testing beyond closed government quarters. The days of government contracts should come under scrutiny, if not for security of the people's identity alone, then at least for the security of the nation.
We all saw the movie Die Hard or Live Free....where the terrorist was an insider, which tried to point out the government's weaknesses. Yes the movie was about Bruce Willis kicking duff....but remember the underlying message, the government is not all knowing. They do make mistakes, and when it comes to identities that can be stolen, we don't want to have mistakes. Lost money on a credit acrd is one thing, but having your life cloned and used to help evil in whatever form, and have that reputation tarnished, is not something to be taken lightly.
Please Obama, before doing as our over anxious UK counter parts did, at least get some of the defcon blackhat team members review and help on testing the new RFID chips, should you even ever consider using them as proof of identity!
PS- One card to rule them all, incorporate the passport, with a special bonus card that doubles as your medicare, drivers, social security, would be nice...then only one office would need to create them, and in such would enforce the technology being available to no do gooders!
Take a look at this article from Bloomberg.com. In my opinon one of the more interesting priovisions included in the America Recovery and Reinvestmnet Act was the idea of "Buying American". The theory behind it that as our nation recovers from the worst recession in decades, businesses and the like should be using products that are actually made in America.
In theory the idea makes a lot of sense.
In practice, it unfortunately exposes just how much manufacturing the United States does not do. The projects that are ready to roll have to be slowed down because of waiver requests. The waivers are necessary because in certain instances the peice of equipment or part needed is only made in a country outside of the United States.
This of course creates a backlog (temporary as it might be) and of course frustration with our government. I cannot blame folks if they get upset because of these types of delays, for they are ridiculous.
Patience is a true virtue...
We have the technology, but so do they....in the event that there is a cyber attack, the idea is that the US army be able to take over your computer for the greater good of the country. However, if we compare ourselves to our bigger cousins, China...we pail in that comparison.
China could easily afford to have 250 million machines to node together into a massive botnet, sort of what we have seen the likes of with that virus STORM. We probably could accomadate 10 million machines, if there are that many infected with a special malware the army created.
There are also those special organisations..like google...that allow you to donate your cpu cycles for a special reason (like doing cancer stem cell research) which in the end makes us feel like we are doing our part, but who says that those mega machines are not infected with the same virus or worm, thereby coming back full circle as if you had the malware installed on your pc.
We match our 10 million to their 250 million, and we have to wonder...is this why we are login the cyber war??? What can we do differently, or better, to make sure this type of thing does not happen.
I would recommend something along the lines of an organised committee, that analyses the current threat that countries may pose based on their advanced techonlogy or access to...and formulate a way to moderate a country's progress. Let's say for example Africa was starting a special project to get some computers into schools.... this would be classified as mundane.
If you took a third world country that just finished purchasing special servers that allow multi processing of complex nature, sort of what you need to use to guide missles...well then we would have to review the background of where that hardware was going, and account for its presence at all times.
In the case of a botnet, it is the sum of the small parts that make the whole...does that mean we should limit the amount of computers allowed...or limit the connectivity of those computers to internet access...or anything that might put a small dent into that armor?
Who is to say, but it is something to think about in the years to come, especially now that we are seeing more and more cyber threats surfacing and making theirpresence known. ID Fraud, CC fraud, email scams....spamming, omg spamming! Just food for thought.
22 May, the Federal Court of Appeals in Washington found tobacco companies guilty of misleading consumers because they use cigarettes to the term "light". According to Themis, cigarettes with this symbol represent the same threat to human health, as usual. Thus, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision previously rendered by the lower instance court, and ordered tobacco companies to remove the packs of cigarettes denote light or natural. As reported by AFP, the largest tobacco companies like Philip Morris and Reynolds, likely to appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal in the Supreme Court of the United States. Previously, it was reported that in the past year, the percentage of smokers among the adult population in the United States fell to a record low.
Mr. President-- I think you are a Wonderful person and the hope of the World, therefore, I can't believe what I heard you say tonight in your speech about Torture and closing Guantanamo. It sounds to me that you will not only, not change the Bush policies of using this special "Military Commission" for the treatment of prisoners - the illegal policies of holding a "suspect" indefinably and not having to bring charges against them - but that you will create a whole new set of Laws, that apply only to these "suspects". It sounds like you are going to use preventative incarceration for the people that you suspect may be a threat to America, still able to hold them indefinitely with no charges, no evidence except "suspicion"of the intent of a crime?? This is against the Geneva Convention and it is immoral. I had hoped that you would restore our faith in Humanity and restore our standing in the World, that of an honorable and fair country! The fact that you are keeping another horrible prison open in Afghanistan, that is just as bad as "Gitmo" is appalling! Another shocker is that you approve of and continue the Illegal wire tapping of US citizens- and have discouraged the prosecution of the large Phone Companies that went along with Bush's illegal policies. Why won't you prosecute the Bush Administration? Clearly we have enough evidence to realize that they went to War illegally! So many of their actions were illegal and against "The Constitution". I have been a financially challenged Single Mom since 1989 and I've seen how unfair the Legal System is to people without money. I'm so-o-o-o sick of seeing the "Little People" getting punished for following the orders of the people in charge of the businesses, the Military, the Banks, etc, etc, etc,...... It never ends! To me, it seems that the World hasn't changed since the Medieval times, "The Rich Get Richer and The Poor Get Poorer" The Kings and the Land Lords have everything and the Peasants live in squalor and starvation. Not much has changed as far as I can see. There is still so much corruption - in the Government - in the Church - in the Financial Sector - everywhere! You hand over the Bail Out money to the Bankers and Wall Street, with no strings attached, but then the "Middle Class" Auto Workers have to make all kinds of concessions (While their bosses get huge Bonuses!) Have you ever had to drive all over town, with your child writhing in Pain, trying to find a Dentist who will pull out an abscessed tooth, without cash? Have you ever had to watch your Son go to a Maximum Security Prison, because he couldn't pay the fine for a traffic ticket,(and I couldn't give him any Money) and the Minimum Security Facility he was supposed to go to was full - so they risk my Son's life - for Money? Have you ever had to wait for 6 hours at the County Clinic, so that your child can be treated for a Methadone Addiction only to be told at the end of those 6 hours, that they don't treat that problem? (The ER Doctor puts you on Methadone, to get over your drug addiction - But - they have no plan to get you off of the Methadone - 'cause they make $150 a month if you're taking Methadone) I could go on and on and on!! It's just so disheartening! I feel so HOPELESS! I don't Believe in a Better Future! I'm still ashamed of how badly we are treating the rest of the World! Why doesn't anyone ever talk about the Millions of innocent people we have killed or displaced (ruined their lives) in Iraq and Afghanistan? And now we're sending Unmanned Drones into Pakistan, to kill innocent people!??? Why? Even though I've been fooled so many times before, I really thought you would be different
