Times are getting sketchy, and CEOs of big corporations are asking the government for bailouts.
In my mind, I strongly believe that the economy needs to be introduced to a new industry.
If marijuana is legalized on a national level it can be widely distributed, ending underground operation, lowering crime rates, and the public does need something to chill them out once in a while.
Not only that, it can stimulate the economy by giving more jobs and circulate more money.
An industry that is based on a consumable plant means more growth and diversity in the economy.
The strongest economy is a diverse economy. It can also alleviate the dot com influence if the United States were to become a large export of a consumable plant. The economy will constantly have a demand for consumables.
It's time to end the generations of marijuana prohibition.
I am so "HAPPY"! I never thought I'd live to see history in the making.....
The First Afro-American President, The 44th President of the United States!
OBAMA'S VICTORY TRANSCENDS RACE AND POLITICS!
The November 4th, 2008 election meant so much to me as it did to so many other Americans in our nation and around the world....and to people in other nations. This presidential campaign was electrifying! I have never seen such an emotional time during any election period that I've had the opportunity to see in all my years. Watching others rejoice around the world for our new President Elect/President, Barack Obama was beyond breathtaking! His ability to bring people together is phenomenal! I felt like I was in a dream.
"YES, WE CAN!" "WE DID IT!"
I know it is not going to be easy making this "Change" giving what he has inherited called an "economical mess!" Though I know President Elect/President, Barack Obama is the MAN to direct our nation in a new direction into a new era of politics so that we can function as a lead nation into the 21st Century. He will restore our nation's "respect" that has been lost. He is a man of honor, intellect, trustworthiness, compassion, strength, and a man who will get things done for our nation and we, the people.
He will help our nation get through this economical wreck; help homeowners facing foreclosures; those who have lost and are losing jobs; help the poor, middle class, and even the rich.....as we are all in this together! We have to do our share! We cannot expect Pres. Elect/President Barack Obama to wave a magical wand which will cause everything to be happy ever after. This is no fairy tale! We are battling two wars, terrorism, facing the possibility of nuclear threats from around the world, global economical failures to name a few. Pres. Elect/President Barack Obama has his hands full from the start.
We must be patient and support our new Pres. Elect/President Barack Obama. I feel he is surrounding himself with strong leaders in his cabinet who can help him in decision-making and help him move forward as he try to solve our nation's problems.
President Elect/President Barack Obama......WE LOVE and SUPPORT YOU!
Thanks for accepting the task at hand.....May God continue to Bless and Keep you and your family as you try to pull us out of this mess!
Okay, guys. Only a matter of days left until November 4th. It's time to do your part and really rally all those around you to vote for the Obama-Biden campaign. Do anything you can to elect the right person to the White House. I myself am not old enough to vote, but I am telling every adult in my life to vote for Obama, and I am not afraid to show my support for him frequently. PLEASE do the right thing and spread the word NOW. We don't have any time to waste.
Barack Rocks!
VObamaTE NOW!
My letter to Senator Obama,
Dear Senator Obama, My name is Cindy Patel & I am 29 years old. I’m writing you in hopes that you will be able to read this, though I do realize you’re just a bit busy at the moment! So needless to say, I will understand if you do not have the time.
I would like to tell you a story about my husband. With all this talk of “Joe the Plumber” including McCain’s new add that angered me even more, I just feel that I need to get the story of “Jay the Electrician” to you. You see my husband’s father came here from India as a young man with a dream, the American dream. He came from an area in India where air conditioning & plumbing was a luxury. He struggled in Chicago for many years working whatever job he could find for pittances of pay, working as hard as he could to put himself through school. And much like “Joe” he eventually landed a job working his way up from the very bottom to the point where he felt stable enough to purchase the company. Eventually selling that company, he started up his own. The birth of Addison Electric in Addison Illinois.
He worked so very hard to achieve what he did so that his children didn’t have to worry about “paying next months rent” the way he had. So that they had the necessary funds to attend the college of their choice. So they didn’t have to worry about affording health care like he did as he struggled with diabetes. His son Jay, is my husband. He is every bit the admirable man that his father is & is full of the integrity he was raised to have. He has worked very hard for his father since the year we met in 1997. Now as of January 2009 Addison Electric will be passed on to my husband & he will be making near to if not more than $250,000 a year. The bracket in which, under your plan, he will be taxed an additional 3%
Now just to give you an idea of the amazing man that my husband is, I began having health problems a few short months after we started dating. Through all the tests & my rollercoaster of depression & anger, he stuck by me. He was there every minute, for every moment, for every difficult time. When I could hardly walk & just wanted to give up, he held me up & kept me strong. For a while there we were told I might have anything from MS to a brain tumor & he told me that no matter what, that he would never leave my side…& he never has. After years of tests & not knowing, going from feeling fine to having physical disabilities, I was eventually diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. By my side always, Jay is my best friend, my guardian angel & he is my hero. Without him I almost certainly, could never have hung in there.
Now I’m sure you can probably imagine just how expensive the medications & hospital visits are for someone suffering from MS. Around $2,500 a month I believe, give or take. Now thank God, we have the means to afford the insurance that we need. But we understand that there are so many people out there that are in similar situations & they are struggling. Struggling to make ends meet, to pay for health care for illnesses they simply can’t afford to have. For this reason, my husband & I have ABSOLUTELY no reservations whatsoever, regarding paying just a little bit more in taxes, if it’s for the greater good of the country. YES, he works hard for what he earns, YES his father has worked very hard for what he has achieved. But they are not selfish. They know where they came from & that there are so many people out there just starting out, trying to reach that great American Dream, as my father in–law was so many years ago. And it is for that reason that they have no problem with paying just that small percentage more in taxes for the greater good of the country. To strive for equality, not condone capitalism. Tax money that will make a difference & not help in funding a dumb war. Giving that little bit extra will not hurt us, we will be fine. Just like it will not hurt those others who are complaining so very selfishly about wanting to hold onto every dollar they’ve earned, God forbid paying just a little bit more in taxes, an amount they would hardly notice that would make the world of difference to those who are struggling. And so you know, my husband is a registered independent, who is voting for the very first time in his life at the age of 34 because he believes so very much in what you stand for. We have heard stories from our parents about John F. Kennedy & what he stood for. I have hoped my whole life to be able to live to see a political figure that could stand for those values. To feel what my parents felt when they watched him speak. You are that for us & I’m sure, for so very many other people as well. You & Michelle have been such an incredible inspiration for me. For the first time in a long time, I truly feel that I can achieve anything despite my limitations. My Father, God bless him, is now dyeing of Emphysema, & will be voting absentee. But he feels blessed to be able to see a candidate like you. This time, he says, this time we will see real change. I pray that he’s right. That we can one day see the equality that our country so desperately needs & I feel that it begins with you.
So that is “Jay the Electrician” in a nutshell. I just wanted you to know that there are people out there like him, backing you all the way & that not everybody that has succeeded is “Joe the plumber.”
Thank you so very much for your time,
Sincerely,
Cindy Patel
One of the few things I disagree with most democrats about is Gun Control. I am against gun bans, and overly ristricting gun laws. I, and my family own guns and use them safely and wisely. I refuse to give up my guns because there are those out there who use them for evil. Just because they can be used as a weapon, doesn't make it so. If the government takes away guns how long before they start taking away knives, axes, scissors, or even gardening tools because they can be used as weapons. If someone breaks into my house it is my responsibility to do whatever necissary to protect my property, my family, and myself. Those who choose to break into houses lose the right to their safety when they make the choice to put my family in danger.
The other big thing I disagree with democrats about is Capitol Punishment. I believe in using the death penalty in 3 types of criminal cases. Murder, Serial Rape, and Child Molestation. First of all those who choose to take someone elses life deserve to lose theirs. To say that a murderer still deserves life, is to give moral equivalence to the lives of The Innocent, and to that of The Guilty. All humans are born with four unalienable rights that should never be violated. Life, Liberty, The Ownership of Property, and The Pursuit of Happiness. Murder violates the first right most of all but violates all the others too. For the safety of the innocent, and the proper use of taxpayers dollars Murderers deserve death by the quickest and cheapest means. Serial Rape; The only reason rapists dont deserve The Death Penalty is because they can change, and the likelyhood of them escaping is so small. Rape by it's very nature changes the victim. They will never be the same, allways inside of them is a madness that stays in the back of their mind for the rest of their life, allways it will eat at them untill they face it. If they win they become a better person with a new outlook on life. If they lose then it gains more control over them. The reason Serial Rapists deserve The Death Penalty is because they by once again commiting that horrible crime have shown the rest of the world that they will never change. For the safety of our women, and the proper use of taxpayers dollars Serial Rapists deserve death. Child Molesters deserve death because rape has worse psychological effects on children then it does to adults. Molestation to a child can have such horrifically profound changes to their minds that those who commit these acts deserve death. Those who do these things to children are not people. They are monsters who though they may look like us they are not. They have shown the rest of the world that they will do these things and most likely will not change. For the safety of our children, the safety of the future of the world, and the proper use of taxpayers dollars Child Molesters deserve death. Some of those who are agianst the death penalty like to say "How can we stop the killing, by killing? The answer to that question is a simple yet terribly sad one. The killing will never stop. No matter how advanced society gets, no matter how advanced religion gets, no matter how advanced technology gets, no matter how advanced our concept of right and wrong becomes, there will always be those who oppose it. There will always be those who take rather than earn, there will always be rapist, there will always be murderers, there will always be molesters, and there will always be evil. To allow evil to live is to put those of us who oppose it in danger. We must never give up fighting for they never will.
A few months ago, I attended a luncheon with several of the most influential leaders of the Hawaii community. These leaders discussed the chracteristics, the personalities, and the actions of a good leader. Open-mindedness, time management skills, sincerity, trusthworthy, and enthusiasm ranked among the top. They further noted how numerous members of the Hawaii community possessed these skills. Unfortunately, the community lacks the most important skill. Voice.
I am a high school student in Honolulu, and am currently taking an Advance Placement class on the History of the United States. One of the class's major projects this year is to volunteer at a political campaign, and write a reflection on the experience: feelings, thoughts. Basically, the good and the bad stuffs.
I was very excited about the project. But, as I started to search for Barack Obama campaign events that provide volunteer opportunities, I was quite dismayed at how uninvolved the community is. I searched, and searched, and searched, and searched, and nothing. I found nothing.
When I came across this website, I thought I finally found hope-- awesome webpage design, teen-friendly interface, social networking-- what else can you ask for? But, as I search for events that are going on at my community (96818, 50 miles radius), the curtains were once again shut as the search only came up with 12 results.
What is going on Hawaii? Sen. Barack Obama is from our land! He is a member of our community, our ohana! We should be the one in front of the battle lines, campaigning, fundraising, painting our bodies with blue and red like the crazy football fans (only if necessary--sounds fun though). But instead, we do nothing!
I write this blog not just to vent out, but to raise the Hawaii awareness of how UNAWARE we are. How UNINVOLVED we are. How we LACK, and NEED VOICE.
It's not too late. We have each other, and Sen. Barack Obama on our side.
Let's go Hawaii, Let's go OBAMA!
This video is dedicated to the movement that has taken place in this country. We couldn't have done it without Barack Obama and the millions of people who work for change everyday...
This year for the first time since the 1960’s many young people have become engaged in politics and now comes a new documentary film that compares today’s youth movement to the one of forty years ago.

This blog is directly addressed to Senator Barack Obama. In the name of GOD and you (Mr. Obama); I am ready to assist in any effort directed by you in this time of major concern. I am an IT specialist with over a decade of management experience that happens to be built like a football player. So I make myself available for anything from assisting in the network and communication efforts to cleaning up debris from the street.
The time is now Mr. President, (to be), to take charge, to lead, to react without haste but with keen foresight, to do what you do best. I'm behind you!!!
Please tell me America isn’t this gullible. Why does John McCain feel that he can elect a woman as his VP and somehow level the playing field with Obama and Biden? I tell you this is dirty politics at its best and it tells you that John McCain thinks the average American is stupid...
Electing Sarah is like picking your little brother to play on your team because your mother told you to, or else! It’s like getting stuck with that fat kid with no athletic ability because there’s no one else left to choose from. If the republicans think that this somehow appeals to the female voters or the Hilary supporters; I have one thing to say.
They should be ashamed of themselves. This is a slap in the American face. Hilary not only proved through her career but also over the past months that she deserved to be in the race, deserved the 18 million votes, deserved to be a part of history. Let's not blemish this landmark in history with an Average Jo-Ann, just to make a point. Hilary has set the bar and let me tell you it's pretty darn high. Who ever takes the glory of being the first woman anything, should be well worth the hype.
America please don’t be fooled and fall for these ridiculous tricks of a suffering political group. Sarah Palin isn’t someone that will compliment as a counter balance to John McCain. This is just another crony of the republican system just thrown into a skirt, (I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t have a slew of pant suits).
I think a smart move would be for Barack to announce Hilary as his number three, and then brush the McCain camp under his red carpet where they belong.
"Change is on the way" is a Funk/Soul genre song with a short story to tell in my words. I wrote about my brother who sacrificed his young life for a war that should have never been waged. It speaks about the family he left behind and the pain it caused. This song also speaks of the people suffering from the Katrina hurricane. Granted, The Katrina hurricane was an act of mother nature but maybe we could have done more about the Levies to prevent such tragedy. Still, when the roaring seas collide there isn't a wall in this world that can stop it. However, after the fact, after the storm The Bush administration did very little and acted very slowly. Sadly, it took the overwhelming support of regular folks, public figures, and yes some great politicians like Barack Obama to go into New Orleans and connect with the people more than our president ever did. The chorus was not hard to come up with because it's all about CHANGE and with Barack Obama as president I can be at ease and hopeful that "Change Is on The Way"

I wrote this blog today in response to some comments that I read about people who are upset with the FISA vote and will not give money to the Obama campaign, but will vote for him in November: Like all of you I wish the Democratic Congress would behave as if they were Democrats. I am not a fan of arming the populous nor am I a fan of permitting unreasonable government intrusion into my personal communications under the false guise of protecting me for my own good from terrorists. What I know is this, plain and simple: I am unhappy with the way things are now. I do not like an American that tortures it's political prisoners, wastes it's natural resources, pollutes our air and runs a government based on scaring us opposed to representing our genuine interests. I'm tired of hearing men that shape our politics and our economics call us 'whiners' and tell us that our problems with the economy are all in our heads. These men represented by Bush and McCain want to preserve their way of life; which seems to include the eradication of the middle class at our expense. This trickle down economics, "the rich get rich and the poor get children" doesn't work and for the last 8 years has failed. And failed miserably. We are involved in wars that most Americans don't want, we have a mortgage crisis that effects us all, we have an energy crisis that threatens the planet, we have an economic crisis that threatens our existence. They line their pockets at our expense and they just do not care about the average person. There is really only one question that you have to ask yourself: Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago? Are you happy with the way things are? Is the future that McCain-Bush offers one that you want for your children, your grandchildren, your loved ones? Do they speak to you in way that gives you any positive hope for our collective futures or do you get a business as usual feeling. Barack Obama has presented us with a unique opportunity to change that vision of the future. He has presented us with a vision of hope. A couple of debatable missteps do not change that. He deserves our support. Understand exactly where we are at in this moment in history: This is a fight, we are backed into a corner; we are fighting a bully; there is not way out; we must fight our way out of this corner. We cannot just rely on others this time and hope it comes out ok. We have to be involved. We have to contribute. It will take all of our effort to win this fight. It is not a fight we have chosen; it is a desperate fight. A fight we cannot afford to lose. Our champion has chosen to run our fight on public funding. Part of the reason he has been hit on all sides is they are afraid of him; afraid of you; and afraid of me. If we don't contribute to his campaign, give generously, give our time and effort, get involved in this fight, then we will deserve what we get. Envision a Democratic Congress with a Democratic President and all they could accomplish for the people of our country. Then envision 8 more years of same old fill your pockets/self-interest politics we have now. Image expanding our war into Iran. Image being homeless. Image gas at $20/gal. Image an ever increasing class of poor people. Image the continued disrespect from other foreign countries. Image any war that last 100 years. Is there any part of what is going on now that can foreseeable occur in the future that you want to be a part of? It's time for a change. Fight back now while we still have a 1st Amendment. Give your money, your time, your support to our candidate of hope. He's not God. He's not Jesus. He's imperfect. But he is offering us a sincere and reasonable opportunity to change. A true 'pursuit of happiness.' Let's not lose this opportunity. Please contribute to Sen Obama's campaign. Please give your time. Please talk and write about your feelings. Persuade others to examine their views. Engage in dialog. The Audacity of Hope is a powerful thing. If we don't contribute now, we leave him open to the 528s; the Republican attack machine; the Swift Boaters. Give generously now. Fight back. Knock that bully on his ass. Ask yourself: Are you better off today then you were 8 years ago? Obama '08
