Fellow Progressive Democrats, why is it I send my money, contributions to OFA and it ends up being spent by the DNC. Can we trust the DNC to be “Progressive?” I am not sure about this. What do you think? The Blue Dogs are part of the DNC. Will the DNC put pressure on the Blue Dogs? Is anyone at the DNC loyal to OFA members? I should not have to question this but due to the poor performance of our Senate politicians, I must ask this of you? The Senate leadership does not appear to be carrying ¼ the load that the Speaker of the House carries. I think we need to see a list of what democrat politicians are members of OFA. When did they become members of OFA? We elected President Barack Obama and in some cases, without support from certain democrats. I know Hillary worked hard for us after the primaries. Who can we trust? Who can we trust? If you are not happy over this summers progress, tired of delays, wondering why we are constantly asked to man phone banks? It kind of sound like we are rushing around the city putting out fires yet we care less whom the arsonist is? If this is the case, you are thinking like me. If I am off course, please explain it to me.
Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. -Martin Luther King Jr.
I reflected on this quote for a minute. I was very hesitant before I decided to become political. I felt I was not experienced or educated enough when it comes to politics. President Obama was the first person I ever voted for--I'm 32.
Before Mr. Obama became president, I honestly did not have faith in our GOVERNMENT for obvious reasons (The last 8 years). I took the FIRST step of faith, became a registered voter, and decided to make change in my own life. Maybe it was Mr. Obama's powerful & very moving speeches or the drive of other volunteers during his campaign that sparked the flame that is burning within me to serve as a volunteer for HEALTH CARE reform.
I'm learning! I anticipate to learn more for I believe all Americans should support our LEADER and our great NATION. My prayers goes out to President Obama, his family and staff.
God bless us ALL.
Thanks for reading. ^_^.
I'm learning. After Camp Obama, I became full of hope. The stories of the people warmed my heart. I am fairly young and as my last blog stated, "Not so political". But for the problems ahead, it is compassion that is needed. I'm pleased with the outcome so far and appreciate the knowledge of the OFA workers. We all are passionate about serving. I never thought a girl like me would have an interest in POLITICS...
Summer? Becoming political? YES. ^_^
I'm motivated at this time to do my part but unsure of where to start. Even though I am not the political type, I believe in equal rights & fair treatment for all mankind. My main concerns at this time are health care & the economy.
I will educate myself daily on these issues and search for others in my community, so I can start my process to see health care reformed. Time to act now inspite of life's problems. I will put more of an effort in seeking facts & use some of the helpful ideas I heard via The President's national call this morning. I'm still shocked & amazed that our government are actually paying attention to the cries of the people. I feel very honored, blessed, and relieved for I know that our President cares for us all.
I am ready & willing. I support President Obama. God bless AMERICA.

This video is dedicated to the movement that has taken place in this country. We couldn't have done it without Barack Obama and the millions of people who work for change everyday...
This year for the first time since the 1960’s many young people have become engaged in politics and now comes a new documentary film that compares today’s youth movement to the one of forty years ago.
The Bay Area’s own Arturo Perez showcases WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE? You'll journey with him as he takes you down a hilarious and emotional roller coaster as he and his two friends search for the voices of the future. WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE? premiered at the Wine Country Film Festival, and is being showcased online at www.FlowersTheMovie.com
Like Michael Moore's SLACKER UPRISING Arturo is streaming the entire film online for all to see for FREE with the hopes that even more people will become energized about voting for Obama this November!

There is very little expected to happen over the next few weeks in the American political arena. The current electoral map will probably not show very much activity as the Olympics captivate the media and the candidates more-or-less take a break from the high-profile newsmaking that has characterized much of this campaign. The opposition has settled into a pattern of criticizing the youth, novelty, and popularity of our campaign by spending millions to spread the hateful message of the Celebutantes Attack Ads while emphasizing a "drill, drill, drill" message that is transparently pandering to the lowest common denominator in American politics. Meanwhile, we are on the ground registering voters and trying to connect with people about issues that matter to them whether it be Yucca Mountain in Nevada or the loss of 30,000 DHL jobs in Ohio.
There are two things that we as Barack Obama supporters should keep doing over the next few weeks of dolldrums:
1. Keep registering voters: as MANY as possible.
2. Remind those people who you talk to why this election is so important. Talking to people about the issues will make it clear to them and to us how essentially everybody is on our side: health care, civil rights, economic justice, the environment... My tagline is: "We are all Democrats". This cannot be emphasized enough.
Also, we should plan on supporting a seed-change in Congress and in state and local elections whenever possible. Gaining seats in the House and Senate for the Democrats is expected, but there are places where we should be making real inroads in the polls but have not yet succeeded. Republicans are actively talking about hunkering down to Congressional elections. They are proud of the stunt that the radical right representatives pulled when they refuses to leave for the August recess in order to pretend that offshore drilling was the most important issue of all time. They are taking a tack that they hope will distract from the facts that they are losing politically and have what can be best described as whithering mainstream support. Distracting the voting population with platitudes and appeals to greed and fear are their answer to a message of change and reform.
We can easily establish a proud alternative to these shrill whiners and has-been politicos. All we need to do is hold our heads up high and challenge those we meet and greet to think forward: toward the future and a more just, clean, transparent, and accountable government that can begin to fix the excesses of the nightmarish Bush years.
My Friends,
Now that we have clinched the nomination, we must continue the fight toward November through the summer. The Republicans have not paused for a moment in their preparation for a what would appear to be a dirty campaign for the White House.
Continue your calls, talks in coffeehouses, on the train, or wherever you can extend the message of change.
A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to attend a reception for Michelle Obama in Chicago, and that experience, hearing her speak and inspire as her husband does, only encouraged me to redouble my own efforts to keep working hard for Barack.
Please donate what you can and encourage others to as well. I have reached the limit for an individual contribution for the General Election, but I would like to find enough donors to match my own.
Have a fun summer and keep the movement alive.
I have given my first donation of $100 and was matched by a registered republican. It does not get much better than that! I knew 4 years ago when Barack gave the keynote HE should of been the nominee, not kerry. The long wait is over and it is crucial he is elected, as mostly all of you know.
I will continue to donate and urge others to do so even though I disagree with this whole process of any type of fundraising. I would like to see a ban on ALL donations to even the playing field and have the networks donate airtime to debate and interviews and completly outlaw the 527 groups. Why should he who has the most $$$ get an advantage? Seems to be the over all problen at large in society and we carbon copy it in our elections.
I am old enough to remember the summer of 68, being born in 56 and that summer shaped my view dramatically and am hoping another major change occurs this summer and fall.
See you at the victory party in November!
It was last year when Obama came to Oakland. I remember I was excited as I drove there with my mom. When we got there, finding a parking space was pretty difficult. Finally though, we made it to the rally. It was jam packed and HOT. We were far from the front and had no way of seeing him. Only people with special tickets could get in the front. That didn't matter to my mom. She held firm to my hand as we squeezed our way closer to the front. But the closer we got, the tighter the squeeze. Finally, we couldn't go forward any further. There was no big screen so the majority of the people would not see him. However, my dearest mother offered to let me on her shoulders when he came out. I was going to see him!!!
--To be Continued--
Well, no, I'm not suggesting that Barack Obama will accompany you to Orlando, Florida but rather that you can make your summer as fun - if not more so - as ever but that you can use it to meet other supporters, have fun AND benefit the campaign.
Check out upcoming events or consider locations you might want to include as possible destinations and join groups in those areas. Once that is in place you can post to their listserv about your possible plans and dates and ask if there are events you can assist with while there. Obviously the family vacationing in FL in May would be VERY popular if the re-vote gets instituted for June!
Consider hosting others to stay on your couch if you have events in your area or if your area is a hotly contested one. I'm not so fortunate but I can still 'make' my own activity by hosting voter registration at local colleges, getting a booth at the local Farmer's Market and perhaps even organizing things like sponsored dog walks or trail rides (I'm a dog and horse enthusiast so I use my own interests) to generate interest and publicity. In the process, I can request that others come and assist and enjoy their companionship as I commit much of my summer to the goal of getting Obama elected.
Remember, tough areas (where Obama isn't already popular) offer the most potential as you are most likely to cross paths with people who aren't already voting for him. Granted, it's alot more fun to be in areas where the masses support him and you are surrounded by kindred spirits but the possiblity for real impact is probably less if only cause you won't cross paths with as many potential people to sway.
I certainly hope EVERYONE will seek a special project to be involved with during the Summer months and help people really SEE how this campaign is different and encouraging involvement from everyone.
There is NOTHING wrong with this world at all, in my opinion. This is a beautiful, glorious world, full of things which we are enjoying as well as things which might not go to plan. The way we perceive the world is actually inside our heads, not outside of it. The way the world looks to us is entirely dependent on how we FEEL about it, our emotional happiness, not how it is in reality. When we feel insecure, lacking in confidence, low in self-esteem and unable to cope with the crises that are meant to enrich us, and make us more resilient, we then see the world in an entirely negative light. Everything that is supposed to be 'bad' looms large, while the goodness pales into the background, especially when we cannot control it or impose our views and power upon it.
