Barack Obama’s phenomenal campaign which has been run completely on his faith in himself, his loved ones, and our faith in him truly hit home with me last night while watching his 30 minute “infomercial”.
You see, I have been an avid supporter of Senator Barack Obama’s since the summer of 2007. And I am SO grateful that I became a supporter. But I did not realize how my contributions with my time, my money, and my efforts to engage my family, friends, and loved ones, even in simple discussions about his campaign, have contributed to Senator Barack Obama being in the current position that he is right now to even air that informercial and have contributed to my understanding of my own power as an individual.
And it hit me that it truly only ever takes just one. It takes just one individual to stand, one individual to go against the grain, to question the status quo…..JUST ONE PERSON. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE POWER INHERENT IN WHAT I JUST WROTE? JUST ONE PERSON.
Knowing, not just saying, but knowing and truly believing that it only takes JUST ONE PERSON to change the world – that concept is mind-blowing.
Imagine if Barack Obama had not decided to run for President because the odds were so highly stacked against him?
Imagine if Michelle Obama had decided to not endorse her husband and nurture his dream and instead discard it some crazy concept?
Imagine if that one individual who first decided to support Barack Obama’s campaign and not to spread his/her endorsement to those around him/her?
Imagine if that one individual did not engage another individual, who then engaged another individual, and so on and so forth…which has now created this movement that has brought Senator Barack Obama to this point in time, in history?!
Imagine? Can you just imagine? Now imagine the fact that this has all been a long, long road that began with just one step…just one step…and you will realize that….
WE DID THIS! WE BROUGHT THIS MOVEMENT TO THIS POINT….WE DID! And NO MATTER what happens come Tuesday, November 4, 2008 - we are left with the understanding that truly nothing, truly nothing is impossible. Nothing at all. If we can contribute to this individual, with everything stacked against him, and get to this point where he is quite possibly going to become the next President of the United States of America - then my God, we can do ANYTHING. ANYTHING at all.

Kennedy, Harriet Tubman, Gloria Steinem, Madeline Albright, Prince, Michael Jackson, Toni Morrison, Zora Neale Hurston, Frederick Douglass, Thomas Jefferson, Sidney Poiter, Janet Jackson, Benjamin Franklin, Sojourner Truth, Abraham Lincoln, Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry…oh..I could go on and on with the list of people who have been game changers. People who have accomplished things beyond their wildest dreams and beyond anyone’s conceptions. And you know why?
These people got to the point where they literally changed the game by FAITH. Let me say that again.
These people changed the game by FAITH.
Without faith in themselves, faith in people to change and to want something more for their lives, and without the faith from people — these individuals would not be in our minds as heroes, as extraordinary human beings.
The beauty of this is not just that it only takes one and that we all can be extraordinary by believing in our dreams and holding on dearly to our faith in those dreams, even when things go dark, eve when we have no concept as to how to get to that huge dream - no, the beauty of all of this is that we are all extraordinary.
Yes, I said it. We are all extraordinary. There is no other way to look at it, except for just as that. You see, there can be no leader without followers. There cannot be a conductor without the orchestra — there is no music without the orchestra nor without the conductor. So you see, there is no way that the people we call extraordinary can be extraordinary without US also being extraordinary.
Our faith in them, our contributions to their efforts, our support of them takes FAITH and FAITH is an extraordinary concept seeing as how it is is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
So when you look at the massiveness of the movement that pushes Barack Obama forward, whether or not you support the man, understand this very well. We are all extraordinary and we recognize that we are extraordinary when we exercise faith. When we just believe in something with faith the mere size of a mustard seed, and work hard on our dream, we can truly move mountains. And Senator Barack Obama’s campaign has done that…we have literally moved mountains. And he could not have done that without us and we could not have done it without him….he is no more extraordinary than us and we no more extraordinary than him. And if we can do this, then why not be extraordinary in our lives, all of the time? Why not step out on faith in ourselves, as we have done for him, and lead our extraordinary lives that are just waiting for us? Why not?

I have enjoyed working the campaign for change for Obama and today I got a chance to see him in person. I have met a lot of people while working on the campaign. I can't be at a lot of events because I work at night at that is when most of the event happen.
I support Senator Obama because we need a change and think he is the man for the job. I know Dr. King would be so proud of Senator Obama because his dream is about to come true.
This story has really hit home because this is my hometown. Fort Mill, SC mayor Danny Funderburk has been forwarding emails suggesting that Sen. Barack Obama is not only a muslim but the anti-christ. Claiming that he was just 'curious', Funderburk forward an email that claims that the Book of Revelations said that the anti-Christ will be a muslim and a man in in 40's. WBTV News out of Charlotte, NC did a story on this on their nightly news and asked Mayor Funderburk about this and his response was "I don't know there is any validity to the anti-christ or not. Only time will tell, we could find out in 50 or 60 years. I don't see how anybody could know, right now. There is validity that he (Obama) may be a muslim".
Nothis this has got me steamed. First off, for a man of Funderburk's stature, to be so ignorant of Obama and the bible is stunning because Obama is not a muslim and the Book of Revelations does not describe the anti-christ in that way. Second, if this was Joe Schmo passing around emails filled with lies that would be bad enough, but for a mayor to partake in this fear mongering and propaganda is completely uncalled for and is a total outrage. He owes the people of Fort Mill an apology.

The overall Energy solutions within the Obama campaign are good aswell as the Green Energy Plan for America.
The only part of Obama Energy Plan that needs to be excluded are Drilling for Oil off Shore McCain wants it and its not only bad for the Environment but the oil return will take if anything 10-15 years if that to find some Oil.
Its a bad Idea Senator Obama don't fall for McCains Energy Plan its no good.
The other area that many are concerned about is Nuclear Power Plants .
Since the early days of the Anti Nuclear Movement which I would bet many of you were involved in over 35 years ago.
Seabrook New Hampshire for one back in the late 70's people protested in the streets against Nuclear because of the Radiation leaks and other major problems with these types of energy plants.

If you have never heard of FiveThirtyEight.com, I think you should bookmark this website throughout this entire election. It is probably two steps ahead of the great Chuck Todd when it comes to "scientifically" staying on top of this polling non-sense and which candidate is truly ahead, by how much, and where!
This morning, they posted a great message about how Senator Obama can own the energy issue just like he currently owns the Iraq War, Afghanistan, and Pakistan issues. Basically, the post says he should join the bipartisan Gang of 10 and make it 11. He is currently leaning towards their position but hasn't fully embraced it as he's trying to walk the tightrope on the drilling issue. At the same time, John McCain is leaning against it because it doesn't offer any financial benefits to the oil companies.
If Senator Obama joins the Gang of 10 by signing on to this legislation, then he would team up with the likes of Senator Lindsay Graham (McCain's best friend and chief surrogate) in pushing bi-partisan legislation to really tackle the issue. Yes, it does involve offshore drilling in states that welcome it (like Florida), but continue to ban it in states that oppose it (like California). The biggest benefit is that it represents his themes of change, working across the aisle, and it forces McCain to either join his position or defend his opposition which is nothing more than protecting the oil companies.
Senator Obama has to take this position before Senator McCain smartens up and flip flops towards it.

I'm very bothered by the idea that Senator Obama is considering a compromise on his stance of offshore drilling. His position at least through yesterday was that it was a gimmick and all of our time, energy, and effort should be in the investment and development of long-term alternative energy solutions that doesn't include oil. Now he has shifted his position as of yesterday to say that he would consider limited offshore drilling if the compromise was necessary to pass a full comprehensive plan.
Sorry Senator Obama, you're about to walk down a path that I refuse to follow!
Carole: Why anyone should trust the Republicans. Since 2000 the price of gas and profits have more than double. Senator Obama should stress to the American public that the Republican is insulting their intelligence in making them believe that more drilling will lower gas prices. It is a lie. It will take at least 10 years and probably will only decrease prices a couple cents according to experts. Unfortunately, the oil companies propaganda machine so far has convinced at least half of the Americans people that the price will be lower with more drilling.

I've just joined this online community and am really enjoying getting to know people from all over who believe, as I do, that Barack Obama SHOULD be and WILL be the next President of the United States. I think Senator Clinton ran a good campaign and should be proud of her showing, but I also think it's clear that Democrats all over America want Barack Obama to be the nominee. And now he is! I'm still unsure how I feel about the possibility of an Obama-Clinton ticket, but I am open to the idea. I'd be really exicted about Wesley Clark as a VP! However, I think we might have to accept Clinton (if she wants it, and Barack decides she's his choice) in the hopes of unifying the party and making the ticket universally appealing not only to Democrats who supported Clinton but to voters all over the country who are still undecided.
I'm a NYC resident but am hanging out in Central New York/Finger Lakes region for the summer and want to get involved with the campaign here. I'll be looking into more opportunities and am about to attend my first CNY organizational meeting on Monday night.
