Well we know what the perfect Palin America would look like. Those who agree, or fail to criticize her "world view" are Pro-America, and those who don't are the "other America". You know what that sounds like, sounds like every type of authoritarian regime that you can imagine trying to drown out the voices of differing points of view, and dissent. Sounds alot like Communism, and I know she is not a communist, but the twisted logic that falls out of her face is just amazing to hear from an American politician. She truely must have been the village idiot in Wasilla, Alaska, and now McCain is trying to force her on the lower 48. Does anybody see the Red Flags on this type of thinking ?

A striking number of conservatives are planning to vote for Obama
IN “W.”, his biopic about his Yale classmate, Oliver Stone details Colin Powell’s agonies during George Bush’s first term. Throughout the film Mr Powell repeatedly raises doubts about the invasion of Iraq—and is repeatedly overruled by the ghoulish trio of Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Karl Rove. In one of the final scenes, with his direst warnings proving correct, Mr Powell turns to Mr Cheney and delivers a heartfelt “F*** You”.
The real Colin Powell used more diplomatic language in endorsing Barack Obama on October 19th, but the impact was much the same. Mr Obama is a “transformational figure”, he mildly said, and his old friend John McCain had erred in choosing a neophyte as a running-mate. But you would have to be naive not to see the endorsement as a verdict on the Bush years.
Mr Powell is now a four-star general in America’s most surprising new army: the Obamacons. The army includes other big names such as Susan Eisenhower, Dwight’s granddaughter, who introduced Mr Obama at the Democratic National Convention and Christopher Buckley, the son of the conservative icon William Buckley, who complains that he has not left the Republican Party: the Republican Party has left him. Chuck Hagel, a Republican senator from Nebraska and one-time bosom buddy of Mr McCain has also flirted heavily with the movement, though he has refrained from issuing an official endorsement.
The biggest brigade in the Obamacon army consists of libertarians, furious with Mr Bush’s big-government conservatism, worried about his commitment to an open-ended “war on terror”, and disgusted by his cavalier way with civil rights. There are two competing “libertarians for Obama” web sites. CaféPress is even offering a “libertarian for Obama” lawn sign for $19.95. Larry Hunter, who helped to devise Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America in 1994, thinks that Mr Obama can free America from the grip of the “zombies” who now run the Republican Party.
But the army has many other brigades, too: repentant neocons such as Francis Fukuyama, legal scholars such as Douglas Kmiec, and conservative talk-show hosts such as Michael Smerconish. And it is picking up unexpected new recruits as the campaign approaches its denouement. Many disillusioned Republicans hoped that Mr McCain would provide a compass for a party that has lost its way, but now feel that the compass has gone haywire. Kenneth Adelman, who once described the invasion of Iraq as a “cakewalk”, decided this week to vote for Mr Obama mainly because he regards Sarah Palin as “not close to being acceptable in high office”.
The rise of the Obamacons is more than a reaction against Mr Bush’s remodelling of the Republican Party and Mr McCain’s desperation: there were plenty of disillusioned Republicans in 2004 who did not warm to John Kerry. It is also a positive verdict on Mr Obama. For many conservatives, Mr Obama embodies qualities that their party has abandoned: pragmatism, competence and respect for the head rather than the heart. Mr Obama’s calm and collected response to the turmoil on Wall Street contrasted sharply with Mr McCain’s grandstanding.
Much of Mr Obama’s rhetoric is strikingly conservative, even Reaganesque. He preaches the virtues of personal responsibility and family values, and practises them too. He talks in uplifting terms about the promise of American life. His story also appeals to conservatives: it holds the possibility of freeing America from its racial demons, proving that the country is a race-blind meritocracy and, in the process, bankrupting a race-grievance industry that has produced the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
How much do these Obamacons matter? More than Mr McCain would like to think. The Obamacons are manifestations of a deeper turmoil in the Republican rank-and-file, as the old coalition of small-government activists, social conservatives and business Republicans falls apart. They also influence opinion. This is obvious in the case of Mr Powell: Mr Obama is making liberal use of his endorsement to refute the latest Republican criticism that he is a “socialist”. But it is also true of lesser-known scribblers. At least 27 newspapers that backed Mr Bush in 2004 have endorsed Mr Obama.
Moreover, the revolt of the intellectuals is coinciding with a migration of culturally conservative voters—particularly white working-class voters—into Obamaland. Mr Obama is now level-pegging or leading among swing-groups such as Catholics and working-class whites. A recent Washington Post-ABC poll shows him winning 22% of self-described conservatives, a higher proportion than any Democratic nominee since 1980.
Don’t blame the rats
The more tantalising question is whether the rise of the Obamacons signals a lasting political realignment. In 1980 the rise of the neocons—liberal intellectuals who abandoned a spineless Democratic Party—was reinforced by the birth of working class “Reagan Democrats”. Is the Reagan revolution now going into reverse? There are reasons for scepticism. Will libertarians really stick with “Senator Government”, as Mr McCain labelled Mr Obama in the best slip of the tongue of the campaign? Will economic conservatives cleave to a president who believes in “spreading the wealth around”?
Much depends on how Mr Obama governs if he wins, and how the Republicans behave if they lose. Mr Obama talks about creating an administration of all the talents. He promises to take the cultural anxieties of Reagan Democrats seriously. For their part, hard-core Republicans are handling their party’s travails abysmally, retreating into elite-bashing populism and denouncing the Obamacons as “rats” who are deserting a sinking ship. If the Republican Party continues to think that the problem lies with the rats, rather than the seaworthiness of the ship, then the Obamacons are here to stay.

I never believed Senator McCain’s age should be, as Ronald Reagan put it, “exploited for political purposes.” But his choice of running mate makes his age and health relevant. This choice was clearly political. Governor Palin, he thought, would excite his skeptical base and maybe win over Hillary Clinton supporters. Knowing she is an avid hunter, a conservative, a Washington outsider, and a maverick, McCain fell in love at first sight.
But where does this leave America?
Nine out of 43 American presidents did not complete their term in office. That’s more than one in five. Not a high probability, but not a remote possibility either. Should it happen in a McCain presidency, Palin would be making decisions on issues ranging from nuclear proliferation to double digit unemployment. Does anyone really believe she is the right leader to deal with two wars, a collapsed economy, an energy crisis, an unstable nuclear Pakistan, job migration to India, a rising China, or any other challenge thrown at us?
Barack Obama’s level of experience was questioned by some at the start of his campaign. But after 18 months of campaigning, the American people have come to know his background, his record, and his accomplishments. He has demonstrated intellect, judgment, calm, and leadership. The same cannot be said of Palin.
Dear Gov. Palin,
As fellow Christians we ask you to stop bearing false witness against your brother Barack Obama. You recently made the insidious claim that Sen. Obama "...was palling around with terrorists." All unbiased observers have noted that the claim is patently false. We the undersigned ask you to stop these false attacks and rather to raise the level of discourse to discuss the issues that matter most to Americans: the economy, the environment, education, health care, the war.
As Christians, we must remember that Jesus told us to love our neighbors and more importantly our adversaries as ourselves. Your recent stump speeches enters territory that are not only adversely affecting our civil discourse as a nation, but diverge from basic Biblical teaching.
The Ten Commandments state the case clearly: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."
Proverbs 6:16-19 states, "There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers."
Proverbs 19:9 states, "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish."
Jesus affirms in Mathew 19:18 reiterating his commitment to the Ten Commandments, "You shall not bear false witness."
And since Obama is one of us as Christians and as Americans, Obama does think like us. We believe that each of the candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain, have the best interests of the country in their hearts and minds. We may agree or disagree with the positions of either candidate, but we should not question their patriotism or their character.
We call upon you to issue a retraction and an apology and to refrain from further instances of bearing false witness against your brother, Barack Obama.

I would like to know what Sarah Palin's IQ is?
The IQ is not the end all tell all of intellegence but it usually is a good indicator.
For example George Bush's IQ was considered low and it was a concern.
JFK and Bill Clinton both had very high IQ's.
So the pattern or trend seems to be that Presidents with high IQ's do better.
To address her apparent ignorance in this key area, Palin had a spate of meetings with foreign leaders on September 23 in New York City. She first met with President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan and then talked to President Álvaro Uribe of Colombia. To end her big foreign policy day, she met with that quintessential American foreign policy wonk, State Henry Kissinger.
So I guess Joe Biden won’t be able to say during the vice-presidential debate that Palin has never met with a foreign leader, but I don’t think her instant educational will convince people who are truly concerned about her knowledge of international affairs.
Senator Chuck Hagel (R, Nebraska), member of the Foreign Relations committee, expressed similar feelings last week, when he said, “She doesn't have any foreign policy credentials.... You get a passport for the first time in your life last year? I mean, I don't know what you can say. You can't say anything." Responding to the assertion that the proximity of Alaska to Russia evidences her foreign-policy experience, Hagel added, "I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense.... That kind of thing is insulting to the American people” (Sen. Hagel doubts Palin's ready).
Even Laura Bush, of all people, said of Palin’s foreign policy background, “Well, obviously, of course, she does not have that.… but I think that she is a very quick study” (Laura Bush Calls Palin “Quick Study”)
Somehow I’m not reassured. When it comes to the person who is a heartbeat away from the presidency, I’d prefer someone who’s ready to do the job right now to a “quick study.”
Hopefully the American electorate is also concerned about Palin’s lack of qualifications and what McCain’s choice of her says about his leadership abilities.
All I hear is PALIN this PALIN that. I will be honest, this woman scares me. She has a million short-comings which are downright frighjtening, why isn't the Obama Campaign discussing these more?
Where is the talk of her belief in Creationism (that Dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago), of her attempts to ban boosk from local libraries in Alaska? Just look at the interview she did last night... no real answers. Just the usual token responses with no real answers.
How about this though... the best angle of them all: the fact that with McCain's age, it is VERY possible he may not live out his term in office, and that Palin will be the President of the United States! This scares me more than anything because I feel this woman is inept in every possible way and in absolutley NO way qualified to be the President of the United States.
Maybe she is fit to talk about Youth Hockey... but she has not proved to me that she if fit to even open her mouth about econimic, foreign, or really ANY issues whatsoever.
On Walking a Dangerously Thin Line...
If Republicans hold themselves to be somehow superior with respect to issues of so-called morality and so-called family values--and they unquestionably do hold themselves as such--I would like to know just what Sara Palin was doing when her seventeen year old daughter was getting KNOCKED UP ... These people are unbelievably despicable and hypocritical in each and every sanctimonious, self-righteous and self-serving way possible.
Just like they flocked around Barack Obama at the beginning, the media is now going crazy over Sara Palin. From what I've heard, Obama is not attacking her as she is doing to him. Is he afraid of offending Hillary voters or women in general? I guess there ARE more women than African-Americans in this country. It seems that McCain and company are riding their convention (however mediocre it was) right into this clamor for Palin.
As has been said many times before by various people, Obama can't play Mr. Nice Guy with either member of the Republican ticket. While Palin touts her rejection of oil lobbyists (somehow I doubt this), McCain accepts their campaign contributions. Obama need to hammer this home to the people. He needs to mention Palin's belief that creationism should be taught in schools. And while she did get rid of the governors private jet, she did not sell it on Ebay for a profit as McCain proudly asserts; she sold it to a Republican supporter at a loss.
Every lie that McCain and Palin speak in their TV ads needs to be answered, with proof, and show them for the liars they are.
I am a 33 yr. old mother of three and a business owner aswell, I knew before Bush's first term it would come to this. Before now I couldn't stomach the fact that the United States was being controlled by a bunch of liers and theives so I stayed away from politics , but now it is hitting a little to close to home. I am in the trucking business and within this past year I've gone from comfortable to upsidedown in business. High fuel prices have put me in a hole that I'm beginning to think I won't get out of I have been paying close attention to this campaign for that reason.
I found myself thinking what is going on? (after watching the Republican Convention) .
THERE ARE NO TWO MEN THAT ARE THE SAME! HERE WE HAVE TWO MEN THAT HAD DIFFERENT CALLINGS IN LIFE BOTH ULTIMATLEY WORKING TOWARD THE SAME GOAL (MAKING THE UNITED STATES A BETTER PLACE). WHO CARES HOW THEY WENT ABOUT IT THEY BOTH HAD A GOAL. MCCAIN CHOSE TO FIGHT OVERSEAS OBAMA CHOSE TO FIGHT WITHIN THE UNITED STATES. WHICH BRINGS ME TO SAY HOW DARE ANYONE (Sara) SUGGEST THAT MAKES ONE BETTER THAN THE OTHER!
There is a saying that some people fight with their mind others fight with their fist! The question is which one are you?
I must tell you that days after watching Sara Palins speech, I found myself wanting to ask Sara when are you going to see that you aren't much different than the columns on Barack Obamas stage you spoke of. Newsflash, Sara your a prop too and when your PUPPET MASTERS are done you to will be dismissed to a very dark place.
Another thing that is playing in my mind, in case the Republicans are concerned about the way they are coming accrossed to people like me.
The fact that the Republicans keep refurring to "Obama's Experience"
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS! After watching the Republican Convention it was clear to me that I had in fact already made the right decision. Before my eyes the Republicans had admitted that Barack Obama had a point!
Why did it take someone with such little experience (so they say) to give them a CLUE ??
***** NEWS FLASH SARA, BARACK OBAMA IS DOING SOMTHING RIGHT!******
And that somthing (as little as it may be to you) Is going to Place Him Right In The White House!
Mr. Obama
This is easy!
If you are a single person who makes 100.000 or less each year 200.000 for a married couple you pay no federal taxes for two years. If you owe back taxes (and back taxes only) (no loopholes for other fines, fees i.e. college loans, property taxes, child support and other government programs that could be used to make this a fiasco) Nothing will be taken out of your no federal tax refund! This would turn our economy around very fast. And this will give you all 50 states. You win the people win McCain loses. It would be that easy. The rich have the money to find their own loopholes and will, only with this simple plan the tax people will have two years to check out the large corporations and the very rich as they use the government and every tax loophole known to the upper class. Sara Palin can give money away in Alaska you could do this for America!
Recent email exchange:
Me to dear friend:
........Soooooooooooo, who do you like in the election? Is a woman on the ticket going to push you over to the Republicans? Just curious - you don't have to answer if politics are off limits.
Have a good weekend, if we don't talk
WELL I WAS GOING TO VOTE REPUBLICAN FROM THE GET GO, BUT NOW WITH SARA I CAN’T WAIT TO VOTE. I LOVE HER! SHE IS A SPIT FIRE AND HAS A “NORMAL” LIFE STYLE, THAT IS WHAT SO MANY WOMAN HAVE GONE THRU. SHE AND BRINGS IT UP FRONT AND CENTER FOR EVERYONE TO SEE---I LOVE IT!!
Oh girlfriend - you are such a hoot. You and Sara are just two of a kind. Down to earth, tell it to your face, digging the challenges of life. I'm betting that if the 3 of us got together, you and Sara would be enjoying a bunch of cocktails, sneaking a few ciggies, and getting all shared values together.
I would love the company, but would definitely be left out of the conversation.
As much as I see amazing personal qualities that make her an admirable woman, I just don't relate. I am STRONGLY: PRO choice, ANTI gun, ANTI war, ANTI environmental pillage and destruction and ANTI taxing the middle class! For 8 years, our government has UTTERLY FAILED to invest in infrastructure, invest in schools and education, and provide reasonable health care systems for the nation. Trillions of dollars the USA and ITS PEOPLE have entrusted (in the form of taxes paid) to our government to spend wisely for the benefit of the USA and ITS PEOPLE have been wasted on a useless and unwanted war in, and continuing occupation of, a sovereign nation that was started on the basis of a LIE. There MUST be a re-focus on the priorities this country's government will undertake, and those priorities MUST benefit the essential welfare and security of the USA and ITS PEOPLE. There must be a fundamental alteration of the mindset of the government because things have to change. Barack sees that this change, though difficult, is COMPLETELY within the ABILITY of the American people. Leadership with a vision of a BETTER society, where government serves its people rather than itself, Leadership that INSPIRES the American people to reach up to achieve something more, Leadership that UNITES the hopes of the USA and ITS PEOPLE is what is needed at this time.
McCain can't do it; actually, I don't think he's sincerely committed to even trying. He is SOOOOO a part of the pro-life pro-gun pro-war pro-oil mindset that has resulted in the current state of affairs. Sara is admirable, but just NOT qualified if she is needed as a replacement Leader Of The Free World, which is more likely the case than not. Worse than the thought of her leadership of this country is the thought that she will have an opportunity to advance her ultra-conservative agenda. The possibility that A SINGLE woman might attain a position of power that would allow her to reverse the advances WOMEN have made in the last 30 years cannot be supported.
The only choice is Obama, for our country and the future of our daughters.
I’ll let you know how it turns out………..
While watching the news interivew, etc. of Cindy McCain and Sara Palin and John McCain.......I gained the strong, strong, strong impression that Senator McCain is a grumpy and irratic old man. Sometimes he is right on and times he seems confused.
Cindy McCain seems to always use the "we" when talking about the Presidency. Who selected Sara Palin? Could the real co-presidents be Sara and Cindy with John only thinking that he is in charge? Will we have a real dictatorship with a combination of the religious estreem right and with the corporate business folks?
