This is the third go-around for 'The Sarah Show' and although the ratings have been pretty good, the writer is about to go on strike. Admittedly, I'm running out of ideas. You never know though. Maybe Palin will stick her foot in her mouth enough over the next month to provide sufficient fodder for a final series.
I'd like to thank all of you who sent the supporting emails and to the womens' sites who picked up on the previous articles. Sarah Palin's actions make her an easy target for cartoons, although I try to keep them mostly above board.
'Just the facts, ma'am'.Sometimes I think John McCain and Sarah Palin are the victims of bad advice. This is what happens when you hire too many lobbyists to work on your campaign staff. The Republican campaign has now officially spun out of control. You almost want to yell, 'Bail out!' or something. Announcing they were dumping Michigan was a dumb move. As I said in a previous article, the smarter idea would have been to just cut back quietly and not make a big deal out of it. And telling everyone you are officially going into negative mode for the remainder of the campaign is also dumb. When voters know the negative campaign is born out of desperation, it often has the opposite effect - it drives voters to the other candidate. (That would be OUR candidate - Barack Obama.)

Fans of Saturday Night Live should check out comedy genius Chevy Chase's review of this week's SNL season premiere on Huffington Post (Sept 15), as he makes some very interesting and pointed comments about both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's performance, as well as the candidates who were portrayed.
Here's my favorite Chase quote from the article: "The more that the nation understands that McCain has lost his mind, the better it is really."
Does the phrase 'I was for it before I was against it' sound familiar? It was used by the Republican's on Democratic candidate John Kerry in a previous election. That phrase alone was key to the demise of John Kerry. When Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin was asked about the bridge to nowhere, ABC news September 15, 2008 stated 'she was for it before she was against it'. In another interview, Palin was asked about the Bush doctorine. Anyone in politics should know what the doctorine means even if we do not. It was so obvious that Sarah Palin did not know the facts, that NBC Saturday Night Live on September 13, 2008 used Palin's ignorance of the facts to open the show. The Republican's would go ballistic if Joe Biden made such a mistake. Barack Obama accurately uses change as a foundation for his message and now John McCain is using it as well. The words 'experience and judgement' were used against Barack Obama. Sarah Palin now makes 'experience and judgement' an acceptable talking point because she is a 'reformer'. Sounds like a double standard to me. John McCain said in September 2008 that 'The economy is fundamentally sound'. He abruptly reversed his position on the economy when he was informed of the seven hundred billion dollar economic bailout plan. If you are an undecided voter, please look at the facts and make an informed descision by voting for Barack Obama.
Okay. Before the campaign gets really serious again, here is your chance to vote for Sarah Palin -- that is for the best impersonation.
And there are two really great impersonators too. You may already have seen Saturday Night Live's "A Nonpartisan Message from Sarah Palin & Hillary Clinton". In case you missed it, click on the pic for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in their SNL opening skit:
But Tina's got competition! Here name is Lisa Vega (aka Lisa Donovan), who was once featured on MADtv, and she has done three Palin sketches already. The first had her corner Obama on a stairwell as he comes home, and she browbeats him till he turns into the "angry black man"; this may explain why the clip is no longer available. But her parental guidance skit called "Is McCain Palin's Bitch?" is already a YouTube classic, and showcases the other side of Sarah:
You can click on the photo. That's Dan Oster as John MCcain.
So here's your guilt-free chance to vote for Sarah Palin (impersonator, that is). Please cast your vote below on the comment section.
Echo...?
So it's 3:38 on a Sunday afternoon, and I'm sitting in my bedroom writing this blog instead of going on the hike I promised myself. I guess the hike can wait, because I feel like I just can't wait another second to say something about this election to the world out there. Maybe nobody will even see this, but I feel like I have to say it anyway.
What is going on?! After everything that we've watched in the past 8 years, how can this election be this close?
How can we have a vice presidential candidate who has suddenly transformed into some sort of American Idol, despite the fact that the public knows virtually nothing about her? How is it people support this, and aren't disgusted by the idea that our candidates are now being picked based on their ability to draw crowds and win elections, rather than their ability to lead the nation?
You can draw all of the comparisons you want between Obama's experience and Palin's... but the fact is, Obama has endured intense public scrutiny and questioning for the past year. We know just about everything there is to know about him... and we know nothing about Palin. That's frightening.
FYE: For your entertainment...
I saw two great things this past week... One funny, one not so funny. I'll start with the serious one: Matt Damon's rant about Sarah Palin on YouTube. I've never had more respect for him. "It's absurd. It's totally absurd, and I can't believe more people aren't talking about how absurd it is." Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6urw_PWHYk
I also have a little note to add on this one. He mentions that the actuary tables show a 33% or more chance that McCain doesn't make it through his first term. While life insurance actuary tables would confirm that, from what I've read, it's not entirely accurate. Life insurance actuary tables have a built in conservatism because they have to base their costs on worst-case numbers. Social security actuary tables, on the other hand, show a higher chance of survival for McCain through a first term... Almost 85%. Think about that though... That means there's a 15% chance that, if elected, Palin would take the presidency within the next 4 years. That's insanely high, and incredibly scary!
The second great thing, I thought, was the opening SNL skit last night featuring Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. Hilrious. Check it out on YouTube.
If you haven't seen it, go to the SNL site to see the opening parody of Palin and Hillary Clinton. RIGHT ON THE MONEY. The media needs to grow a pair.

I have to admit... I feel sorry for the Clinton Supporters. Having Hillary totally slammed like this..

Granted as an Obama supporter I was laughing and thinking "Good grief, I cannot believe they did that..." but there is ALOT of truth to it!
Check out this recent SNL skit. Particularly the last line.

McCain's support of the Bush Iraq doctrine -- billions of dollars wasted. Clinton's credibility on Iraq -- like a $3 bill. Saturday Night Live's Petraeous congressional hearings parody: PRICELESS!

OMG. I cannot stop laughing! This is the funniest thing I've seen throughout this entire campaign season. You MUST pass this on in your groups, blogs, websites, email lists, everywhere! LMAO!!! And I'm not even an SNL fan, but I'm definitely a Tracy Morgan fan. He's FUN-KNEE! LMAO!

I read a post from an Obama supporter who sounded discouraged and so tired, after all of the recent rancor and bad blood spilled in the Democratic race for President, that I had to send a response. Let's take a deep breath, step back, and remember what's important. Let's lift each other up, and not tear each other down. Sure, we all have the freedom to express ourselves. But let's not lose sight of why we're working for Barack Obama's nomination. We could all use a good laugh, and I got one from Tracy Morgan on last night's Saturday Night Live. In case you missed it, here it is:
In all it's glory...
no doubt, could offend some but I think he puts alot of stuff in EXCELLENT perspective..
check it out and let me know what you think...

Of course it would come to this. The news media entertain while comedy shows deliver political spin.
Having apparently boosted Hillary Clinton's campaign by playing the media-is-too-easy-on-Obama skit immediately before her wins in Texas and Ohio, and the Hillary-at-3AM ad last week, Lorne Michaels, the executive producer of Saturday Night Live has gone out of his way with the NY Times and LA Times to dispel the impression his program in any way backs the former First Lady for the Democratic nomination. He was reacting to the two skits and the bitches-get-stuff-done endorsement from former SNL cast member and 30 Rock diva Tina Fey that have raised suspicion of political agenda at work.
If you follow the money, however, are there more clues to some intentional or subliminal motives? Lorne Michaels has been an active political donor over the years. The largest and most consistent beneficiary of his largesse since 2000 has been Chris Dodd and the Chris PAC. Dodd withdrew from the current race in January and has since endorsed Obama. But Michaels has also regularly given to John McCain since 2000, including donations in March and May of last year totaling $2300, the maximum allowed for the primaries. Is Michaels on some level helping McCain, who he vows will not receive additional donations now that he has captured the GOP nomination, by trying to ensure that Clinton becomes his opponent? Just asking.
Mr. Micheals' remonstrations might be more convincing if he had not selected comic-musician Fred Armisen to impersonate Barack Obama. The otherwise-talented Armisen has failed to capture any of the charisma and inspiration that make the candidate so appealing. Instead, his is a dour and dumb Barack Obama Who Never Smiles, guaranteed not to garner any sympathy when viewed alongside the simpatico Hillary Clinton of Amy Poehler.
At the start of this season, Michaels streamlined the SNL staff in what was viewed as a cost-cutting measure. It was also reported earlier this year that the chubby Kenan Thompson was on a diet so he could play Obama. When the writers' strike came to an end, tryouts for the part at SNL were widely reported. Does Michaels' decision not to sign a new impersonator indicate he does not expect Obama will be in the running much longer, so he is saving money with someone already on staff?
Art imitates art. Meanwhile, as I reported previously, it is now confirmed that Seth Myers will play Eliot Spitzer on SNL this Saturday. Not clear yet who will play Kristen or if they will in fact call the segment "Superdelegates Gone Wild".
