"Many people took out loans they were never going to be able to afford,
never! That means somebody knew from day one they were never going to
be able to pay back the loans." The bankers approved these loans and used the money to pay themselves bonuses and payed our government representatives to look the other way…that’s where we are…any suggestions for getting us out of the mess are welcome…but if you just want to play the blame game…where does that get us?

Another Fairey-Obama "CHANGE" Print Please!!

The "CHANGE" poster by Fairey is excellent beyond expectations! Just look at the reviews on this site. It is an enthralling image of the Obama brand. The hard reality is that there are only 4500 of them, and they are sold-out. That is about one to every 333 donors, and the primary is not even over yet. I already own the small “Progress” limited edition and a “CHANGE” poster. I will get up to another five, if I get the opportunity. For your information, one “CHANGE” poster just sold for around $265 on eBay. That is almost 4 times the original sale price. To me, that says there is demand for more prints/posters. Further, if the Obama store does NOT come out with more, there will be a flood of fakes. The Obama store’s lack of product will create a black market for the “CHANGE” print. Why? Because there is no signature, seal, or silver stamp to help prove authenticity! How ugly will that be? Moreover, the coming fakes will be a loss of control of the Obama brand and confidence in the authenticity of Fairey’s works. Once a black market for fake prints/posters gets going, the black market is going to fake every “Artists for Obama” product you or the store are going to try to sell. The “sorry we are don’t have any more posters,” does not cut it. Below are two suggests that would increase the supply of posters: 1) Alter the size. Fairey often comes out with a small version. You could easily sell another 4500 of the small version. Additionally, a smaller version would be cheaper to ship, package, and frame. Further, the Obama store’s experience with the first run will help the process in the future. 2) Do a pro-environment “Green edition” (or some other color) where the light blue color is switched to green and the word “CHANGE” is green too. Let’s show some creativity and get another run out there before the convention!! The Obama design team alters the colors of the Obama logo to specific target markets all the time! You can do the same with prints and it counts as a new edition. Sounds like a win, win. Try bouncing the idea off the marketing team… The Obama supporters are already facing fake donation solicitors; Let us nip this “CHANGE” poster black market before it gets going full speed.
