As it turns out from "Inside Edition" Joe the Plumber does not even have a plumber's license. Joe was actuately planted by the McCain campaign so that McCain would have something to use against Obama in the debate. While on the topic of what level Republicans will stoop to, in Columbus Ga they have began stealing Obama and other Democratic nominee yard signs. I think we have to work to ensure Obama gets elected no matter what acts Republicans commit. We need to make sure he has so many supporting voters that these acts do not faze Obama's outcome. I am challenging everyone to take at least five people to the voting polls with you that you know are voting for Obama. Please pass this on. We have to fight harder than ever to get Obama in his well deserving presidential seat. All the negative ads just make me want to work that much harder.
The republican convention last weekend in St. Paul was a phenomenon. We saw thousands of people cheering to politicians that really did not reveal any points of their agenda, but based their entire strategy on patriotism, old values, and attacks on the democratic nominee for President. After watching most of the GOP convention, I came to the conclusion that this event was indeed a “bridge to nowhere.”
The slogan of the convention was “country first,” a slogan that implies that someone else does not put his country first and a very hypocritical statement. Is McCain arguing that Obama does not put his country first? Is he saying that the only reason Obama is running for President is for his own personal benefit? Well, it sure seems that he does, but even if not, Sarah Palin definitely did explicitly say that “there is only one candidate in this race that puts in country first, and that is Senator John McCain.” Not only is this an insult to a man that went into community service after graduating from Harvard and having a lot of opportunities to make ten times as much money somewhere else, it is also controversial. If anybody in this race does put himself over his country it would have to be John McCain. First of all, he changed a dozen of his personal agendas to fit those of the Republican Party in order to get support from traditional republican voters. He used to be against offshore drilling, he used to favor the Hurricane Katrina Investigations, and he changed his position on social security privatization. On almost every major issue he now stands with the republican strategies, which is a clear indicator that he puts his career first.
Furthermore, McCain’s campaign used to base all of their arguments on the theory that Obama is just too inexperienced to lead. McCain also said that he would pick a Vice President that is most capable of leading in case of his death. He picked a two year governor, who is younger and has less experience than Obama does. Either McCain was wrong about Obama being too inexperienced, or he did not pick the most capable leader for his VP ticket. Republicans are now arguing that Palin has more experience than Obama because she is a governor. Palin, however, has been dealing only with issues of the state of Alaska, and she has done so only for the last two years. Obama has been dealing with nationwide and international issues for the last twelve years. The republicans are trying to escape this logical fallacy in a very cheap manner.
Every speaker at the convention was talking about change. The idea to bring change to Washington by electing the Republicans is not only ridiculous, the slogan is simply stolen. Obama’s campaign slogan has been “Change” ever since he started campaigning in the primaries. So now the Republicans bring about change? Repeatedly it has been said that the liberal government is responsible of the mistakes made in the past years. Well, the Executive has been conservative since 2000, our Supreme Court has a conservative majority, and until 2006 Congress was conservative as well. Who are those liberals in the government? Seriously, bringing change to Washington by electing the party that has been running Washington for the last eight years is as ridiculous as using the wrong size wrench on a car and refusing to change the wrench. “If I try long enough, it might just change and fit.”
“It’s not that Obama doesn’t care, he doesn’t get it” was another stolen slogan from republican speakers at the convention. Word by word this is exactly what Obama said about McCain at the democratic convention in Denver. Every college would consider such an act plagiarism and reward it with an “F.” Untrue statements about Obama wanting to raise taxes for most Americans, never reaching across the aisle to work with republicans, and giving oil companies social welfare benefits are supposed to attract voters? It is very easy to research these issues and find out that they are sheerly not true.
Change will only come if we elect a new government. How can McCain’s campaign expect people to believe in them bringing change to the White House when they started lying now already? How can we think anything will change if we pursue the same old policies and the same old agenda? How can we believe McCain’s slogan “country first”, which to me is a self evident requirement for any politician, when he changes his position to comply more with republican strategies in order to get their support? Whereas Sarah Palin was using her refusal to have the federal government build a bridge to a local community in Alaska in order to advertise her strength to the American Public, she was actually supporting that bridge when she was running for Governor. She simply ‘changed’ her position after she was elected. So with this considered her only “bridge to nowhere” would have to be her appearances in public as well as the entire republican national convention.
A new celebrity herself, Palin cast Obama as a little more than a fancy speaker with a compelling biography. "Our family," she said, "has the same ups and downs as any other"
I wonder if Governor Palin has ever done without hot water or heat because her gas was turned off like I have? Until this morning, I heated pans of water on the stove to do dishes and took cold showers or hot sponge washes by heating water and putting it in the bathroom sink for six months due to high winter fuel costs As tens of thousands of other Americans did/ or have when Gas companies across the United States shut them off because the current administration has refused to hold big oil companies accountable for their record profits.
I wonder if Governor Palin has gone hungry, or if her children have gone hungry due to high skyrocketing food costs connected to shipping fees from high gasoline costs, or if she has had to settle for substandard child care because she has to choose between rent, utility bills, or keeping her job to stay off public assistance?
I wonder if Governor Palin's children have had to walk to substandard schools in high crime and gang infested neighborhoods and had pray that her children made safely to and from school?
According to Ms. Palin, Her family's mother lacked the soaring oratory skills of Obama — a man she attacked as a tax-raising, terrorist-coddling, self-indulgent liberal. "Victory in Iraq is finally in sight; he wants to forfeit," she said of Obama. "Al-Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America; he's worried that someone won't read them their rights."
I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a `community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities," Palin said, referencing Obama's stint as a community organizer.
If it wasn't for 'community organizing', women still might not have the right to vote, the civil rights movement would have gotten nowhere, and community's across American would not be rallying to try and find solutions to high crime, drugs, and gangs, in their neighborhoods, regions, etc. And if wasn't for grassroots community organizing no political party in the United States would have any cohesion, etc. "If Ms. Palin thinks community organizing does not take any responsibility then she should give it a try because she'd soon find out it takes a lot of time and responsibility."
Some more rhetoric from Governor Palin in her VP acceptance speech stating that John McCain is, " a man who's there to serve his country, and not just his party" in another jab at Obama. Yes, at one time John McCain was there to serve his country and I admired and respected his willingness to take on Democrats and Republicans alike. I had even hoped Senator McCain would have captured the Republican nomination for president in 2000. But that was before he abandon his own principles and values recently to become a right wing conservative who obviously picked Ms. Palin for VP partly due to her lifetime membership in the NRA and her very restrictive right to life views which includes not supporting contraception to help teens and young adults avoid pregnancy, and who only recently began rallying against pork barrell spending. Except for his stance on abortion, John McCain was against pork barrell spending and special interest money long before it became popular with either party.
From Rudy Giuliani talking about Obama, "He's never run a city, never run a state, never run a business, never run a military unit. He's never had to lead people in crisis,"
Prospective VP Palin and Mr. Giuliani both forgot to mention that a governor only runs their states national guard troops when they are inactive, and then the troops are usually only being sent to help with natural disasters, potential violent situations like a riot, etc. Once national guard units are called to activite duty and sent to hot spots like Iraq or Afghanistan, they are under the command of the Department of Defense, not the state governor. So much for Ms. Palin's presumptive national security experience.
And in what way does being only half way into her first term as governor and a past mayorship quantify Ms. Palin as being "more experienced thatn Barrack Obama???"
Governor Palin and the John McCain camp, along with fellow republicans are defining her as a fiscal conservative who took on the political establishment in Alaska over pork barrell spending.
"Oops, I forgot. That was in the past, Ms. Palin has changed. The change couldn't have taken place too far in the past when she has only been governor for 22 months. I guess only Republicans change or have the right to their own opinions or political philosophies. Seems a little hypocritical to me. Not long ago Ms. Palin defended earmarking as a vital part of the legislative system.
Biden is a great choice for VP. His experience in foreign policy, and on domestic issues will be of value to a relatively young Obama. I was bullish on Obama without Biden, but this adding his passion and integrity to the Obama campaign is a wonderful thing.
I've saved politically related articles in my email for the last 6-7 years, and I think I've found a great forum to share some of these articles - and wonder why anyone could vote for somebody that reminds you of Bush.
An April post by the SF Chronicle from an AP article...
"More than 80 percent of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, the highest such number since the early 1990s, according to a new survey."
This simply says that Americans want change, the want a change in leadership, a change in priorities and a change in the global perception of the United States. Obama is clearly the candidate for change.

Senator Obama is the ONLY Presidential candidate America can believe in. Barack Obama has integrity, vision, courage and the judgment to take this country in a fundamentally new direction. The UNITED States of America has not had a trustworthy President for so long that I HOPE America will recognize him now that he has arrived. I believe that OBAMA will be the next President of our nation.
Senator Obama has already demonstrated a strength of character that no other candidate can claim. Character is a crucial factor we need to focus on going into the general election. I believe time will tell that Obama is the only presidential candidate that will actually stand with citizens of this country and citizens of the world to work collectively from the bottom up for peace and diplomacy, prosperity, sustainable energy, health care, jobs, college for all, early childhood programs, women's rights, compassionate immigration policy, and the environment.
I believe that Barack Obama is the only candidate who is in the campaign because he believes in us. Obama cares about justice in the world for everyone. Senator Obama is not about simply competiting to claim a victory. Barack Obama will not stoop to the cheap tricks and empty gimmicks of others. President Obama will help us change this country and change the world. No more politics as usual--No more distractions--No more lies--BELIEVE THAT!

From the Washington Post:
RICHMOND, Aug. 13 -- Mark R. Warner, the former Virginia governor and a candidate for the U.S. Senate, will deliver the keynote address the second night of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Democratic party officials announced Wednesday. It was the convention's keynote speech four years ago that launched presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama to national prominence. Warner's address on Aug. 26 will be broadcast to millions around the United States.Warner, who considered running for president, is competing against former governor James S. Gilmore III (R) for the Senate seat. He has taken his name out of consideration to be Obama's running mate. The popular former governor is widely considered the front-runner to replace retiring Republican Sen. John W. Warner in a race that could help further solidify Virginia's gradual shift toward becoming a more Democratic state."Like Barack Obama, Mark Warner is not afraid to challenge the status quo to bring people together and get things moving,'' Obama campaign manager David Plouffe wrote in a statement early this morning. "It's that kind of spirit and innovation that resulted in his selection as keynote speaker on a night when we will be discussing how to renew America's promise."The Aug. 26 convention program will feature speakers who share "Obama's concerns and support his detailed economic plan to grow the economy, create jobs, restore fairness, and expand opportunity," according to the Obama campaign."As Governor of Virginia, Warner used his experience in business to help deliver jobs and hope to the citizens of Virginia," Plouffe said. "His work creating jobs in Southwest and Southside Virginia is a model for the rest of the country."
From the Chicago Tribune:
DES MOINES, Iowa - Democrat Barack Obama plans to significantly expand his already large field organizing effort in Iowa, opening 10 additional offices with a focus on rural areas. The presidential candidate will open six new offices this week, adding four more next week to bring the total number of field offices to 36, Democratic U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin said Tuesday."I just wanted to point out that Barack Obama is committed to reaching out and engaging Iowans in rural communities," Harkin said in a conference call with Iowa reporters. "He has held more than 100 town hall meetings in rural Iowa."New field offices added this week are in Carroll, Grinnell, Indianola, Iowa Falls, Muscatine and Spencer, said Harkin."We want to get as many people involved as possible," said Harkin. "We need a president who will stand up for rural America."… All of the efforts come at a time when Democrats have build a 90,000 person edge in voter registration in Iowa. That's a huge change from 2004, when Republicans outnumbered Democrats by about 8,000 voters. "It seems to me there are some big shifts going on in this state," said Harkin. "It seems to me the people of Iowa are saying they want to give the Democrats a chance. The economy is a mess, energy prices are too high."
From USA Today:
Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama plans to organize extensively in Ohio's rural areas and small towns that have long been strongholds for Republican candidates in the key battleground state. While Obama will also concentrate on the state's heavily Democratic urban areas as he looks to win the state's votes in the November election, his campaign released a document Tuesday outlining the additional strategy.President Bush won Ohio over Democrat John Kerry four years ago. Gov. Ted Strickland, who represented rural southeast Ohio in Congress for 12 years, said Obama's statewide strategy could at least cut into any advantage his Republican opponent John McCain would have.Strickland said during a conference call he has advised Obama campaign officials to look at his own and Sen. Sherrod Brown's recent victories as models. He said both had tactics to win votes all across Ohio."John Kerry won the major cities and metropolitan areas in our state more than he had hoped to win by. I mean, he did exceedingly well, and he lost the election because of his lack of support in small town and rural Ohio," Strickland said. "That every part of this state is being targeted means that Sen. Obama will not repeat the Kerry mistake."The Obama campaign's Ohio strategy document entitled "Change Begins in Ohio" includes formation of more than 1,200 neighborhood teams of volunteers, who will focus on a door-to-door conversational approach, said Aaron Pickrell, Obama campaign Ohio director.Small towns like Middletown and Troy and rural areas like Perry County will have Obama campaign offices to help neighborhood teams, Pickrell said.In all, 43 campaign offices statewide are either opened or planned.
From the Boston Globe:
With the candidate himself on a Hawaii holiday, Barack Obama's campaign and the national Democratic Party are trying to fill the void today. His campaign is launching its "Republican for Obama" group to promote his bipartisan appeal. Former US Senator Lincoln Chaffee of Rhode Island, former Congressman Jim Leach of Iowa, and former White House intelligence advisor Rita E. Hauser will help lead the effort."[Obama's call for change] is rooted in very old American values that are as much a part of the Republican as the Democratic tradition -- there is an emphasis in individual rights, fairness and balance at home and progressive internationalism," Leach told reporters on a conference call. "And above anything else frankly I am convinced that the nation interest requires a new approach to our interactions with the world… I also have no doubt that a lot of Republicans, independents are going to be attracted to this call for a new era of non-ideological, bipartisan decision-making."
From the Rutland Herald:
WOODSTOCK -- A pair of prominent politicians and supporters of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign urged Clinton supporters to support Democratic candidate Barack Obama during a rally Sunday night.About 70 people turned out for the United for Change Potluck Supper at the Woodstock Firehouse, where Madeleine Kunin, former governor, and Gaye Symington, democratic gubernatorial candidate, urged the crowd to back Obama's bid for the White House."The whole idea is to unite the Barack-Clinton wings of the party and get somebody in Washington who will bring change and end the war," said event organizer Bob Williamson. As democrats piled their plates with pasta, meats and salad, Symington circulated with potential voters and discussed her newfound support for Obama."I was an early supporter of Hillary Clinton's, but I'm here tonight to help unite people to bring real change," Symington said.Event organizer Joanne Boyle said Woodstock's rally was "part of a national effort and we felt we should bring everyone together."A former employee of the Obama campaign, Boyle said she spent several weeks going door-to-door in White River Junction campaigning for Obama.… [Kunin said] "As a former Hillary supporter, I support Barack Obama, and I don't support him because Hillary does but because I know he will be great for the United States of America."

the Oregon Statesman Journal invited the Democratic presidential candidates to submit guest opinions answering this question: "What is your plan for Oregon? In other words, why should Oregon Democrats pick you as the best candidate for president and what would your nomination mean to Oregon?"
This morning's edition of the paper included Barack Obama's response:
This is a defining moment. At a time when our nation is at war and our American dream is slipping away, we cannot settle for the status quo. In this election, Oregon can stand for change. I've spent more than two decades working for change from the bottom up. I fought for jobs as an organizer in Chicago when the local steel plant closed. I stood up as a civil-rights lawyer for people who were denied opportunity. I helped expand health care to hundreds of thousands and gave a tax cut to working people in Illinois. I opposed this war in Iraq from the beginning, and when I got to Washington I stood up to the special interests to help pass the most far-reaching lobbying reform since Watergate. I chose to run for president because I believe that the size of our challenges had outgrown the capacity of our broken politics to solve them. We cannot afford four more years of the same divisive fights in Washington that are more about scoring points than solving problems. We're not going to make progress if we continue to have a system driven by special interests. We need to restore fairness to our economy. When I'm president, we'll give a tax cut to 1.8 million hardworking Oregonians and help struggling families keep their homes. We'll ensure that the 615,000 Oregonians who currently lack health insurance are covered and cut the cost of a typical family's premiums by as much as $2,500 per year. We'll create a $4,000 annual tax credit to help Oregon students cope with tuitions that have increased 27.5 percent since 1999. And we'll turn the page on more than two decades of trade and economic policies that have favored Wall Street over Main Street. It's time to stop giving tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas and start giving them to companies that create jobs here at home. Oregon has been a national leader in energy independence, passing a renewable portfolio standard, auto-emissions rules and incentives for biofuels development. I will build on Oregon's successes to move America on the path to a cleaner environment. I will devote $150 billion over 10 years to move us toward energy independence and invest in the green energy jobs of the future. Oregon deserves a president who understands the unique environmental challenges facing the state. That's why I will develop a meaningful plan to restore decimated salmon stocks with the advice of all stakeholders, including fishers, farmers, tribes, environmentalists and foresters. That's why I will ensure that Oregonians have a say about whether and where we place onshore liquefied natural gas facilities in the state. That's why I support county timber payments and will work with the Oregon congressional delegation to find a comprehensive, long-term solution that will provide Oregon communities the resources they need to invest in a strong education system and create a sustainable economy. And that's why I will work with Oregonians to develop a common-sense plan to conserve Oregon's woodlands. Oregon knows we need less tough talk and more sound judgment on national security. When I am president, I will end a war in Iraq that I opposed from the start, give our troops and military families the support they have earned, and finish the fight in Afghanistan. With a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas, I know that my story is only possible in America. My family didn't have much when I was growing up, but they gave me love, a good education and hope — hope that in this country, no dream is beyond our grasp if we reach for it, and fight for it, and work for it. And the reason I'm running for president is to put the American dream within reach for every family in Oregon and in this country. - Presidential Candidate Barack Obama www.barackobama.com

If Barack Obama is going to get my financial support and that of my internet circle, his advisors have to stop sending him down the same slippery slope that John Kerry fell from! You must get him to answer directly to the re-shaping of the issues that McCain’s camp is successfully accomplishing! How is it possible that McCain can turn a 250,000 turn out in Germany into a negative? They must respond really forcefully! Say something like “ John McCain does not get it! Barack Obama is not Moses or any cult leader, he is just adored and well liked. No one would venture out in broad sunshine to see McCain because he is the representation of ‘old’, tired ideas! Barack is a fresh new voice with judgment that most people support. Do we want another president that is hated throughout the world”? We cannot protect our interest and citizens worldwide if everyone hates our president and by extension, us! Get busy and get appropriate, strong responses.
Deja vu all over again! We cannot allow Barak to be swift Boated out of the Presidency! The Republican paarty will use every dirty trick in the book and then accuse Obama of playing dirty! They accuse him of bringing up the race issue when they are the ones who ran the Paris and Brittany commercial! I believe it was an intentional attempt to scare White americans into believing that Barack is a danger to their lilly white world, and make it appear as if this highly accomplished, intelligent man is an airhead!
You may or may not care about the grumbling and ruffled feelings surrounding the Don McClurken decision.
You may think Obama can get us out of Iraq with greater alacrity than another democratic candidate.
Promoting a healthy environment may not be your thing.
Issues about homeland security or veteran's rights may not seem urgent to you personally.
But something energizes you; that's why you're here. You may or may not feel your budget allows a financial contribution, but sitting right where you are now you can participate by following this link and writing about what matters to you.
Three paragraphs, two or three sentences apiece, that's all it takes: The first paragraph ends in a sentence defining your point, while the final paragraph starts with a re-statement of that same idea and goes on to endorse Barack Obama as the person who can best accomplish your goal. 15 seconds with your spell-checker and it's done. He has the integrity, the vision, the drive we need, but meanwhile he needs us to be keeping the eyes of the media on what he stands for.
The second paragraph? Oh come on, you'll think of something. Keeping lines of communication open has been a touchstone of Obama's political vision. Understanding is a critical step toward change. Take a line from a speech, such as, "There is not a 'liberal America' and a 'conservative America,' there is The United States of America." Spread the message of unity and change that Obama has articulated time and time again.
Want to verify your understanding of Barack's position on a particular issue? It's all here online.
So, what gets you all fired up? Education? Poverty? Electoral reform? People who don't know the name of the leader of Al-Qaeda but think they can be trusted to run this country? Special interest money dominating our political landscape?
Do it now.
