And sometimes, they can be pretty cool. The trailer for Stephen King’s new book, Under The Dome, falls squarely into the “cool” category. The novel follows the inhabitants of a small town that is trapped in a huge, clear dome by unknown forces.Some say King’s best years are behind him; I disagree. That’s not to say I enjoy every last one of his books – hell, the man’s written so many, there’s no way they could all be great. But when he’s on, he’s one of the best writers in modern horror (and sometimes science fiction). To me, it seems that he’s at his best when he gives himself room to breathe, page-wise. The Stand is brilliant; so is It. Both are over 1000 pages. The Dark Tower series, his masterpiece, unfolds over the course of seven increasingly long books. Under The Dome will be 1088 pages long; hopefully, that means we can expect the epic storytelling and surprisingly personal character development the author, at his best, is capable of.Check out the trailer below; it’s short, but it got me kinda pumped for this book.

Grateful Dead Members Reunite for Barack Obama Members of the Grateful Dead hosted a get out the vote concert in support of Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama on Monday, February 4th at The Warfield Theatre in San Francisco. Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, and Bob Weir, joined by Jackie Greene, John Molo, and Steve Molitz, played a show together in support of Barack Obama. The video website Iclips may still have an archived video stream of the show. This event marked the first time that the members of the legendary band have performed together since 2004. They agreed to reunite for this one-time-only event in order to lend support to Senator Obama leading into the crucial "Super-Tuesday" series of primaries held on Tuesday, February 5th.

What a great night! Got to the gates around 730. They let people in around 830. Three security checkpoints. We sat on a hill about 150 yards from the podium. From 830 to 1000 they had CNN on the big screen. When they declared Virginia and then the election for Barack, the crowd of 65K+ erupted. Reports of 125K-200K include the overflow area where people without tickets were placed.
