In your life time experience, has hope ever died? How does it feel when our hope is lost or shattered for a brisk moment due to a disappointment- whether we were turned down for a job that mean't everything; or just lost hope in our love life?
That empty feeling in the gut is horrible! Isn’t it? How can we live on a daily basis with no hope at all?
My country men have no hope! Sierra Leoneans and other Africans, help is on the way; do not give up. Keep trying, and find comfort in something, anything that can give you hope; but no “vein” hope.
Hope, life is full of hope, hope the pillow of life, but no vein hope.

This movie found it's way to me and I haven't even watched but the first 15 minutes of it and it hit me that this would be something that all American's might want to see right now. It's a tribute to the people of New York City and how they "Came Together" after the 9/11 events, using John Lennon's words and music. I can tell it is very uplifting and emotional. It was broadcast live on October 2, 2002. I don't know where I was then but I was asleep and too wrapped up in my own little life garbage problems to know it was happening. I'm wide awake now and I believe, as a nation, we could use a LOT of uplifting RIGHT NOW. It would be a huge reminder of what the people of our great nation did as they came together after 9/11 and we can do it again. Today, it seems that our nation is falling apart and we all need this reminder. I highly recommend to every American that they watch this video as soon as possible. Give it a shot, you might be happily surprised.

Here is a copy of a response I posted to another blog discussing overpopulation.
Overpopulation is the biggest problem facing the world today. And I am deeply concerned that very few people seem to realize that this is such a huge problem. Today, there are about 200,000 more people on Earth than there were yesterday. 200,000 net gain, counting births and deaths. It took until about 1800 for the world human population to reach one billion. 123 years later, In 1927, it reached 2 billion. 47 years later, in 1974, we got up to 4 billion. In 1999, 25 years later, the population was at 6 billion. Our population is exploding at a ridiculous rate, and it all comes down to food. From what I have read, almost of the people who recognized this problem think it can be solved with some sort of birth control. This, I think, is very unreasonable as birth control could, at its best, be only a slight delay to our population's seemingly inexorable climb. Population is directly related to food availability. Few people would argue this point when talking about any animal species but we seem to think of humans as excluded from that category. After all, we must be vastly superior to any animal, we're the ones who rule the world. But we're also the ones who are systematically destroying the world, killing anything that gets in our way of complete domination of our environment. This way of life started around 10,000 years ago, with the start of the agricultural revolution. The problem of overpopulation was pretty much inevitable when we took control of our food supply, allowing us to outgrow the restrictions of our environment. Soon, tribes were wiped out and replaced by cities. Today, more than 30% of the world's land is being used to grow crops or raise cattle! There is almost no more room to grow food. But every year we increase our food supply and every year our population grows. By 2050 we are projected to have at least 9 billion people on Earth. It is very unlikely that the planet can support that much biomass as 1 species is already dying each day to support our growth. Im running out of room to type so I will just say this: if the food supply stops growing so will the population. I encourage anyone who reads this to do your own research and specifically, look up Daniel Quinn.
The first amendment"all men are created equal"
So to all those who think bigotry is over let me remind you, that if you voted in CA,FL or AZ and voted against gay rights YOU NEED TO CHECK YOUR CONSCIOUS....
Especially after watching the people crying on TV saying I cant believe this finally happened about Barack being elected...HOW DID YOU VOTE IN CA OR FL... I guess gay people are not considered people to you.....
Religion is not part of the constitution and after 200 years of waiting for a black president its mind boggling how so many of you had no problem discriminating against another minority..
We are NOT one......yet .... as Barack has hoped .... it is truly staggering to me how one minority can discriminate against another as the vote showed in CA and FL..... when the black vote was 70-30 to take away gay rights on the props....
yep .... how soon people forget what they are voting for ..i guess they cant even remember after they voted for the president, in the election booth....
For all of you who feel gays are not people according to the first amendment....remember how you feel when you are discriminated against and the thoughts that ran through your own minds on why you weren't considered as good as anyone else....
Im white... alot of my friends are white and we all voted for Barack and never even considered race..... but after the election it really became evident amidst all the hoopla on TV that these same people I watched crying in happiness had no problem taking away the rights of another minority....
Its truly amazing....listening to all the people on TV so happy when there is another minority who was thrown under the bus without a second thought...

Good Morning! One of our MyBO bloggers has posted the transcript of Senator Obama's speech:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/amandascott/gGgscy
Senator Obama gave a wonderful speech which included his promise of setting a goal of ending deaths by malaria by 2015. He outlined specifics including:
"The first project of my Small and Medium Enterprise fund will be investing in the developing world’s capacity to meet the demand for 730 million bednets. We’ll also increase access to doctors and nurses through a new program – Health Infrastructure 2020 – that trains medical professionals in countries around the world, and gives them incentives to stay there. And we’ll invest in research and development into new vaccines, and ensure that low cost anti-malaria drugs are available everywhere.
This effort must bring together governments from around the world. It must be a public-private partnership that draws on the resources, and ideas, and resilience of business and non-profits and faith groups. It must be a cause for countless individuals, and a common goal that unites us all."
Remember, ONE asked all the candidates to committ to visiting Africa during their first elected term in office. Senator Obama, a supporter of ONE and PEPFAR, has agreed to the visit. Please take a few minutes to read the speech....Thanks! Denise

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
one bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
one handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
one word can frame the goal
One vote can change a nation,
one sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
one laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start a journey,
one word start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
one touch can show you care.
One voice to speak wisdom,
one heart can know what's true.

This year’s biggest summer blockbuster may never be seen in the theatre. This year the prize for most hyped movie of the summer goes to campaign attack ads or….ATTACK OF MCCAIN: AD WARS 08! Featuring an all-star cast that includes Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Charlton Heston and of course this summer’s biggest celeb…THE CHOSEN ONE! OBAMA!!!!!
Following in the footsteps of Oliver Stone, Director (and campaign manager) Rick Davis has woven fact & fantasy into a carefully crafted tale of an ideological, young politician who spouts beautiful rhetoric while attempting to wrest the prize of the presidency from political legend John McCain. While on his quest, Young Obama is seduced by the DARK SIDE of politics. He begins a great struggle to keep the people under the control of the EVIL EMPIRE OF FOREIGN OIL. Thirty year political veteran John McCain is pulled from retirement to stop Obama’s evil mission and save the free world from itself. After an intense confrontation involving charges of racism and light sabres (think George Lucas meets HEAT OF THE NIGHT) we realize that Obama has a messiah complex that brings back the ghost of Charlton Heston (a special treat for NRA viewers) to end the onslaught of evil that follows Young Obama where ever he goes. Shot as a series of vignettes against the backdrop of Europe, the Mid East and an Ohio German Sausage Shop this is one movie you won’t be able to miss this summer….no matter how hard you try! (McCain is spending $140,000.00 per DAY to run the Britney/Paris ad alone.)
In the long run though, ATTACK OF MCCAIN seems a bit unfulfilling. Historically it is a little too inaccurate. In the first vignette we learn that Obama only visits troops if he can bring along cameras. But subsequent reports showed this to be a false statement. The film also doesn’t follow the established story line well. Young Obama complains that “they’ll try to scare you by saying I don’t look like the president on the dollar bill” and McCain immediately calls it racism. A great scene but it seems to forget about the previous McCain short, SEAL A lovely June 08 release that features a dollar bill with Obama’s head super-imposed over the president’s head. Ooops! I know it’s only a movie but you like it to follow it’s own history. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDTJDv4hevU&feature=related)
The biggest issue is that the audience finds out a great deal about how bad Obama is; but learns little if anything about what McCain stands FOR. It leaves you yearning for a return to the themes of his 2000 masterpiece, THE STRAIGHT TALK EXPRESS. But unfortunately, stars do age and it may be that today’s McCain is just not up to the same level of performance that he used to be. (Hey, even Sean Connery doesn’t do action films anymore.)
The reviews have been mixed. Veteran star, McCain says it’s “humorous” and claims he’s “proud” of his work this summer. Life-long character actor & perpetual movie sidekick Joe Lieberman says rising young star Obama is a “gifted and eloquent young man not ready to lead”.
But others have not been as kind.
Oh, well, I didn't see it -- I think it's kinda stupid," she says. "I'm just too old-hat for it. In fact, the other two, I didn't even know who they were.
Roberta McCain, mother of star John McCain
“There has been a very intentional effort to paint him as somebody outside the mainstream…he’s not one of us….I think the McCain campaign has been scrupulous about not directly saying it, but it's the subtext of this campaign. Everybody knows that. There are certain kinds of signals. As a native of the south, I can tell you, when you see this Charlton Heston ad, 'The One,' that's code for, 'he's uppity, he ought to stay in his place.' Everybody gets that who is from a southern background. We all understand that. When McCain comes out and starts talking about affirmative action, 'I'm against quotas,' we get what that's about."
Republican David Gergen, Advisor to both Republican & Democratic Presidents
"I think we should be in a post-racial environment…I think Sen. [Barack] Obama has done an admirable job of that. I don't think he has race-baited. I think he has been very good about that."
Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Fla., a supporter of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz
I found this McCain campaign ad "The One" to be one of the most offensive ads we have seen in American politics to date.
At best, this ad implies that those who plan to support Senator Obama are looking for a new savior or a replacement Messiah.
But many are reading it even more darkly as an attempt to portray Obama as an anti-Christ figure. A vote for Senator Obama is a vote for the man we think will make the best President, not for a new Messiah. As Christians, we have one Lord And Savior. Jesus Christ. It is blasphemous to suggest otherwise.
And it is beyond offensive to suggest that Senator Obama is a false Messiah or the anti-Christ himself. How low can we go? It shows the McCain campaign is willing to make a mockery of our faith to feed people's fears. Christians need to reject this out of hand.
Mara Vanderslice, founder and director of the pro-Obama religious group Matthew 25 Network.
And I think Kathy Hilton summed it up perfectly:
I've been asked again and again for my response to the now infamous McCain celebrity ad. I actually have three responses. It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States.
Kathy Hilton, Mother of Paris Hilton and financial contributor to McCain’s Campaign.

Dear Friends,
I just returned from a trip to Rwanda with my friend Senator Bill Frist, MD and leaders from both political parties. Senator Frist and I went to Rwanda not as politicians, but as students, to learn about people who are rebuilding their country after the unspeakable horror of genocide.
My news from Rwanda is very encouraging. The hard work of the Rwandan people and the generosity of Americans are coming together in partnership to create a model for how we can end poverty in the most desperate countries on earth.
I came home more convinced then ever that we're all in this together. Rwandans' daily struggle to start anew, even as they deal with poverty and disease, is also our own struggle to build a more prosperous and safer world.
To further the progress in Rwanda and spread that hope, we need to take full advantage of this election year. That's why Senator Frist and I will be meeting with our respective parties' leaders in the next few weeks, as they're writing the platforms that will be unveiled at the presidential nominating conventions in Denver and Minneapolis. These platforms contain the policies on which Barack Obama and John McCain will campaign for the presidency.
We're going to ask these committees to make sure that their platforms take on the generational challenge of tackling global poverty, and we need your help to do it.
Click the link to sign the petition seen below, and I'll deliver your signature when I meet with representatives from the Democratic Party - and Senator Frist will do the same on the Republican side - to ask these political leaders to include extreme poverty and global disease in their 2008 platforms. http://www.one.org/platforms/
As a proud American, I urge you to make ending extreme poverty and global disease in the developing world a core part of your 2008 platform by including commitments to:Fight AIDS, TB and malaria and improve basic health services, particularly for mothers and young children Ensure access to clean water, basic sanitation and sufficient food supplies Spur economic growth through equitable trade and investment policies Modernize and increase development assistance, focusing on partnership, transparency and accountability Achieve universal primary education
In Rwanda, I saw the tremendous impact of some of the very things you've worked to make possible. Deaths from malaria have been cut by 66%, in large part because of the increase in bed net and anti-malarial medicine distribution. The death rate from malaria, as well AIDS and TB is going to continue to fall, because of your work pressuring Congress to reauthorize PEPFAR, America's global AIDS bill, for five more years.
Victories like PEPFAR are saving lives and giving people in places like Rwanda new hope, making the whole world a safer and more prosperous place. Now we have the chance to make ending extreme poverty and global disease a focus for the Democratic and Republican parties.
Click below to sign the petition and I'll deliver your signature when I meet with Democratic Party leaders to ask them to make the struggle against global poverty a priority in 2008. http://www.one.org/platforms/
My late friend Paul Wellstone was fond of saying that, "The poor don't have a lobbyist. That's why I went to Washington." The hope for a better future that Senator Frist and I saw in Rwanda shows what's possible when two million of us "go to Washington" on behalf of the world's poorest people. This summer, together, we have the chance to go to Denver and Minneapolis and show that ending global poverty is a priority for both political parties.
Thank you for joining me,
Senator Tom Daschle ONE Member and National Co-Chair ONE Vote '08
Thank Your Senators For Passing PEPFAR
This week the Senate reauthorized PEPFAR, America's lifesaving response to the global emergency of AIDS, TB and malaria. 80 senators stood with us to pass the bill, with bipartisan majorities voting to defeat amendments that would have undercut PEPFAR.
Now our senators need to hear from us that we appreciate their vote and support American global leadership in the struggle to the suffering caused by these diseases.
Send the letter below to your senators.
I am proud that as my senator, you voted to reauthorize PEPFAR for five more years. Your vote will save lives in some of the most vulnerable parts of the world, and represents the very best in American diplomacy and global leadership. I am particularly proud that we are keeping our commitments to lead the effort to end the suffering caused by global AIDS, TB and malaria, even at a time when we face many challenges here at home. Thank you for your leadership, (Your Name)
Thank you for your leadership,

Five more years of American leadership in the effort to prevent and treat AIDS, TB and malaria is going to come down to a few hours of debate in the United States Senate.
The President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has finally made it to the Senate floor for debate and a series of critical votes. We need you to call your senators today and encourage them to vote to pass this bill.
There is a chance that an individual senator could raise something called a "budget point of order," in which case we'd need 60 votes to bypass this additional obstacle or else the entire bill will be defeated.
After months of deadlock and delays, the bill to extend PEPFAR, America’s powerful response to these global killers, is moving and it’s moving fast. Debate on the bill began last night and votes will begin today. But first, our senators need to hear from all of us that we strongly support this bill and call on them to vote for its passage at the current $50 billion level.
We believe that there is strong, bipartisan support to pass PEPFAR, but we're not out of the woods yet. This is the moment we need you most. Please call now and ask your senators to support this bill for $50 billion dollars in critical global AIDS, TB and malaria over the next five years.
You can call Senators Robert Casey and Arlen Specter in Washington at the numbers listed below and ask them to be champions for the millions of people around the world who are depending on us in their fight to beat these deadly, but treatable diseases.
Call now:
When you speak to your senators' staff, make sure to tell them:
As summer heats up and the presidential campaign hits full stride, I'm proud to invite you to join an unprecedented effort, made up of ONE members right here in Pennsylvania and across the country, to give the one billion people around the world living in extreme poverty a voice in the 2008 election.
It's called ONE Vote '08 and it's a high-energy, grassroots campaign to make the fight against extreme poverty a key part of the 2008 election. Together, we can make sure that our next president, no matter if it's John McCain or Barack Obama, is committed to saving millions of lives and stopping needless suffering around the world.
Sign up below to be a ONE Vote '08 volunteer and you can be a part of our team here in Pennsylvania. From Pittsburgh to Philadelphia, we're hitting the campaign trail to rally voters and press the candidates on the incredible power of American leadership to save lives in the poorest parts of the world.

I'm sure you've heard the politically naive among us and abroad who've lost a friend or family member in the occupation, or who know someone that has, expressing great sadness and anguish, and yet still supporting the given so-called mission over there, because they don't want my brothers and sisters to've died in vain... These insanitarians in Washington have done to Iraq what equates to beginning a marriage...with a rape... They have no soul, because they've literally sold them to big oil and the military-industrial complex... And while the five-year so-called anniversary of this atrocious war-crime has come and gone...with now over 4,000 servicemen and women dead and many-fold more left emotionless, limbless...and mentally broken for life...while we recognize and cringe at all this, we shall also realize that we must truly get to the bottom of the problem and progressively eliminate its root causes...
When our feelings get the best of us, it can bring out the worst in us...and yet it can also expose our most compassionate traits...depending on the feelings which are affecting us. Perhaps since the beginning of man, or at least since the beginnings of government, the most intense of our feelings have been taken advantage of... Taken advantage of by those who "think" violence somehow solves problems when regardless of the magnitude, its actually been proven time and time again to cause even more problems...and murders innocent people in the process. We've also been taken advantage of by those who utilize and even manufacture our justified fears of violence and unjustified fears of those of other cultures...deceiving us into focusing on our differences instead of our common ground...all for the malicious cause of retaining, expanding and concentrating power for a fraudulent fraternity of white-collar criminals... Let us realize it doesn't have to be this way. Our civilization has proven that it can develop for better or worse...all depending on how honestly and peacefully we pave the path toward our common dreams, primarily to eliminate chaos...and to ensure justice. And justice by definition is the just behavior and treatment of citizens as determined by society...so long as society has genuine control of its own justice system... And at this moment I can tell you that we do not.........yet... Now public policing of our justice system comes from those of us who've developed the quality of being fair and reasonable and are willing to impose the same on our government. The more evident this quality is in our society...the more secure...the more peaceful...the more free we all will be.... Only when you have justice...will you have peace. And peace depends on our ability to reason with others. Unreasonable people attempt to adapt the world to themselves...while reasonable people adapt themselves to the world. And I'll use the words of Jimi Hendrix at this moment when I say that when the power of love overcomes the love of power...the world will know peace.
So in going back, to my point that our most intense feelings have been taken advantage of...and specifically fear.........realize the essence of my point here is that the enemies of peace and justice use their intelligence to keep us fearful..because they fear the potential of our intelligence, so the only way they can conquer us is by dividing us. But the more we exercise our intelligence...and our birth right of questioning authority and holding it fully accountable...the less enabled the bought and paid for corporatist republicans and democrats are in their remarkably similar agendas of division, destruction and war profiteering which runs directly against the grain of our common dreams in every way that you could imagine. And in order for our common dreams to come true, we must be politically conscious... Modern-day robber barons...who cleverly disguise themselves as capitalists...have controlled the justice system, the government, most of the media...and most destructively...our culture. But what these men behind the curtain know is that their infrastructure of corruption will collapse like a house of cards when we...our friends...and our families realize the truth of our relationship to nature...and the truth of our personal power. We must be politically conscious... The whole corrupt system of these modern day robber barons drills into us that we are somehow powerless and weak.........that our society is somehow evil and fragmented... Its all a big, fat lie! We are powerful...beautiful...extaordinary... There is no reason why we cannot understand who we truly are and where we are going. There is no reason why the average individual cannot be fully empowered. We are incredibly powerful beings... And we must be politically conscious...
I think I've spent about twenty years of my life trying to become something. I wanted to become good at things. I wanted to become good at school...football...become an architect. But then I realized I had the game all wrong... The game for all of us is to find out what we already are. We must understand as human beings that our religions, races, classes, nationalities...and even fear, greed and arrogance itself are learned associations. They are no more a part of you than the clothes you have on, and you are free to take them off at any time and discover who and what you really are. We believe the world is one organism who when at war with herself...is doomed. Fellow citizens, we are not the underbelly of society but rather...we are the backbone of society... And ultimately we have one choice... Its a choice between fear.........and love... So in closing, I must acknowledge that I speak the words of Barack Obama when I say...we...are the ones we've been waiting for!___________________________________________________________________________
