I am so proud of being a part of this movement! From the very beginning we have all found each other and accomplished great things in our communities!
I have one simple request for another viral movement. There is a new website that is about to be launched, and because through this site, we have made so many fantastic connections, we should ask the web administrators to transfer our friends and settings into the new change.org site they have created. If you would please use the letter below to post as a blog, or send a message to the campaign staff immediately so we can make it a possibility for future involvement!
"I was thinking & hoping just last evening that maybe all our MYBO info and contact could be migrated automatically to http://www.change.gov to avoid chaos and so that everyone can maintain their favorite personal connections. It can be done. Let's ALL ask the BO webmasters to make it so."
Finally got contacted by the NY for Obama folks. Will do my training this weekend, in Rockland County.
For some reason, they chose the city of Suffern, NY as the meeting place. I don't know about you, but I think there's something inauspicious about the name of that city.
"So, Chris, where's the training again?"
"Suffern."
"No, where is it--not how it's going."
I'll pop in again when it's over. Later.
Barack Obama, in his acceptance speech for the presidency of the United States yesterday in Denver, Colorado, asked us:
To step away from our complacent acceptance of what is stagnant and linear in government and society,
To step up to the challenges at home and abroad,
To turn the corner,
To come up with new ideas and
To restore our old ideals.
I watched Barack Obama give his speech on C-Span, twice. Mesmerized by his words and lifted by his inspiration, I renewed my dream that a global Camelot can be within reach, as the visuals of simultaneous mushroom clouds over the Middle East and Eastern Europe dissipate into fresh, clean air.
I am awed, grateful and reassured to see that the divine gifts of intellect, wisdom, knowledge, reason, talent, courage, compassion, audacity and inspiration are embodied in one being whose bloodline crosses continents and whose upbringing defies political boundaries and cultural divides.
I am not saying that Barack Obama is perfect, but I am saying that he is by far the only person in the world today that I know, who has both the unique personal quality and leadership skills that can forge a peaceful consensus and build a solid foundation upon which every person in America is able to reach his or her potential unfettered by tensions or terror and become an inspiration for everyone else in the world to turn that corner, so that everybody in our time can truly live up to our status that we proudly confer upon ourselves -- the human civilization.
