But Obama is a highly educated and savvy individual of enormous achievement in a very short time. And long ago he surrounded himself with individuals capable of putting this country on a proper course. There is comfort in that. There is comfort, too, in his eloquence. He appeals to the good, to doing better, to America's hopes. In short, he is inspiring. Words do make a difference. They can make people move in directions never before thought possible -- or even believable. Leaders can do that. Obama does that now. And right now, he is America's hope. The Saginaw News endorses BARACK OBAMA for president of the United States. Read the entire endorsement in today's Saginaw News

Today's story comes from Tim in Saginaw, a steelworker who has been volunteering and doing everything possible for Barack. With the Steelworkers, he's been holding house parties for Barack to help create the change Michigan needs. Join people like Tim and volunteer for Barack in these last two weeks! Contact your local Campaign for Change office or call 1-888-MI-CHANGE and find out how you can get involved!
I have been a Steelworker for over 35 years and with retirement coming I worry about medical insurance more than anything at this time in my life. Barack Obama has a medical plan that will not only help future retirees but those retirees that are feeling the crunch of medical expenses today. I also feel with this plan he will help all businesses by lowering medical insurance premiums by offering insurance to all Americans. Being a Union Activist my entire career I also find that Employee Free Choice Act co-sponsored by Senator Obama is what will bring union strength back and Barack Obama has pledged that he will sign it into law when he is elected President of the United States.
Election volunteers got tips from the longtime campaigner, the most important of which is to listen to everyone's positions and ideas -- including those who support Republican Sen. John McCain's campaign for the presidency, King said. "Listening is the bridge to communication and we need to do more of that," she said. King empathized with people facing economic hardships and encouraged people to read the candidates' plans for the future. All of the major campaign issues are interconnected, with education, the economy and energy all impacting each other. "What I love about Barack Obama is he understands the interconnectivity of it ... I love the holistic view he is taking," King said. Read the entire story in the Midland Daily News...
So I've been watching the Democratic National Convention on C-Span every night, and I"m so happy to be a democrat. The speeches by Michelle, Hillary, and of course, VPCantidate Joe Biden. Last night was fabulous, and having Barack show up was phenomenal... I'm so glad he got the chance to see all of his delagates together, in one place, not to say that they won't be there tonight, but the intimacy of the Convention at the Pepsi Center is unlike anything. Sure, I'm not there, I don't really know that, but it's an atmosphere that can never be recreated, especially after just being nominated. and now, this night, the final night, is so exciting! I'm at a party at the Steelworkers local union hall, and we're having a "house party" they're welcoming us here... and it's so cool to be here, to be a part of this campaign... I'm signed up to do volunteer work, and I'm psyched.
More later, but this night is so amazing... I'm glad to share it with the entire country!
