Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss is a few points from Democrat Jim Martin for U.S. Senate in current polling in the Georgia U.S. Senate runoff race. Senate Runoff in 35 Language Translations. Runoff election to be held Tuesday, 2 DEC 2008.

Any help you can give polling voters is greatly appreciated. Democrats want to win this race!

The more Democratic Senators in office the easier it will be for President Elect Obama's economic policies to be implemented without a chance of a partisan filibuster.

Encouraging video link @ Obama HQ: Lafayette, IN with my response.

After all the postings that I, and possibly other bloggers on the ObamaBlogs, have been mentioning about including political activism with community activism, I am happy to hear Obama mentioning this in this link on the ObamaHQ blog, Video: Barack in Lafayette, IN, so I recommend watching video link in the blog before continuing.

My response was more of an addendum to what Obama said:

I've just finished watching the video at the top of this blog; I agree with what you have had to say; and, I am ENCOURAGED you are saying that "we have to keep Congress and the White House accountable."
I have been mentioning that community activism *includes* political activism. The only thing that I would add is that EVERYONE, regardless of political affiliation and/or who they voted for NEEDS pay attention to what Congress and the WH are voting on and voting for. In addition, they need to pay attention to their LOCAL, STATE, and CONGRESSIONAL elections because not even you, or any president can do it all.
Keep encouraging political activism, as it will be URGENTLY needed NOW!

Please, empower yourselves by checking out what is going on with your local, state, and Congressional representatives; and, if you're unsure, try talking to someone you know who may be knowledgeable about the subject or Googling it in order to educate yourselves. I've actually learned a lot by checking around (though it may seem that all I read are mainstream news links) and from people willing to give an opinion on some of my blogs and my responses to other people's blogs.

Why Barack Needs to Come to Purdue

On Saturday, the Lafayette Obama Office opened to a raucus crowd of over 250 people of all ages. It was great seeing so many new faces, students and established local Dems there to help kick off the effort to bring real change to this country.

But a lesser known facet of this, is that many of the students in the room have been working for the campaign for months now. Laurent is a great example. He's been to IA, MO (twice), WI and OH working door-to-door for Barack. He even organized 50+ students to travel to St Louis to hear Barack speak. He's one of many who are excited and spreading that excitement to even those of us who've been around in local politics a while.

IN the last week, these students along with some of my own high school students (who are also Obamacrazy) have registered nearly 600 people in the Purdue dorms. This is a truly awesome number, especially considering that at Purdue (due to Tippecanoe County election standards) they will be able to vote early-- April 17-18th right on campus-- before their dead week and finals and leaving town! There's truly no excuse not to turn this campus Barack-Blue.

Last week, President Clinton arrived at my school -- West Lafayette High School to speak. How can you not go see a former President when he comes to your work place. But among the crowd there were many true Obamaniacs. One of the rumors was that they didn't use Purdue, because it could not be secured.

Well, I am sure we could fill Mackey Arena for Obama-- or at least Lafayette Jeff High School..even if we have to trek our students all the way over there. I even have bus company connections * wink* if ya hear what I mean.

Tippecanoe and Surrounding Counties

I went to search for an event that I could attend near my hometown and saw that the closest thing was in Chicago! And while I would love to have my daughter see me involved in improving the country, that is pretty far to travel with a four year old for something that will probably not hold her interest.

Do I need to create my own event? I am hoping in time (the website is only two days old) that more people in my area will become part of the Obama site and we can organize something. By "organize something," I mean get together, have a discussion, be realistic about the time and energy we can put into this campaign, and do what little (or lot) that we can.

Perhaps we don't need an event? Perhaps this can be done online? But there is something inspirational about Democrats uniting in Indiana and faces to put with that would be something I would like, at least once.
