You have got to get your hands on Fox's Hannity & Colmes segment which ran on Saturday 09/06/2008 @ 8pm Central Time. In this segment former Arkansas Govenor Mike Huckabee was being interviewed by Colmes when he made a major blunder. Colmes wanted to get clarification when Mr Huckabee had stated that "Sarah Palin has gotten further in her career seeking an office of national stature than Joe Biden did." Colmes wanted him to explain what he meant by furthering her carrier. He replied "She's a governer of a state. You and I have a different understanding. I think governor is the ultimate step before one takes a position of President or Vice-President because your actually running something." Colmes then asked him "Does that mean that John McCain is not the best choice because he wasn't a governor?" After a long awkward pause and a nervous smile, Huckabee quickly answered "No, I think he's a great choice because he's been a Senator as both of the democrat's have been. But he has run something." I couldn't stop laughing and because I have a DVR I couldn't help but rewind and show my wife, then we both started laughing.
Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee...charged [during the RNC] that Palin "got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States." It may sound like a great line, but it's not true – not even close. Palin garnered 651 votes in 1996 and 909 votes in 1999 in her two races for mayor of Wasilla, according to the city. Biden, despite withdrawing from the race after the Iowa caucus, got 79,754 votes in the Democratic primaries.
- Wasn’t the podium at the DNC round and really close to the delegates, giving a warm, accessible feel? That was the impression I got anyway. Looking at the RNC podium, I see an elevated rectangular shape that looks like a defensive perimeter. Queen Palin appeared to be waving down on her subjects.
- Not a lot of faces of color in the RNC crowd. That place is as white as Casper the Friendly Ghost’s backside.
- I am hearing a lot about “changing Washington”. Hello, you are the party that has been in charge of Washington for the last 8 years. You have changed it alright. You are technically campaigning against yourself.
- I had to listen to Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani’s speeches on NPR as I was returning from a funeral visitation. I will say Rudy had a crowd wanting to be fired up and he gave them what they wanted. And in the process, he demonstrated all that is wrong to me with big time politics. “America’s Mayor” slammed the entire culture of “Community Organizers” who work tirelessly to make their cities a better place to live and help those who need it to fight for a better wage or a job in general; Community Organizers who work every day to improve the lives of those less fortunate and give their voices a chance to be heard. Rudy belittled them for the sake of political theater. He lied about tax increases and insinuated that Barack Obama was a Muslim. Feel free to disagree but even the eastern Kentucky Republican riding with us agreed that he did. Rudy is best known for cleaning up NYC and his handling of post 9/11 events. But let’s not forget that before 9/11 Rudy was being discussed for his extramarital “activities” more than anything. And yes, he did improve NYC’s image but ask the gay community about His Honor. It was their civil liberties among others he didn’t seem to care to trample on.
As for Governor Huckabee, I have to say that I was disappointed in him. I expected a higher tone from a preacher. A just for the record Governor, Joe Biden received more votes running for President than Sarah Palin received running for mayor. Biden received 79,754 votes. Wasilla has a little over 5,000 people in it I believe. If everyone in town voted for her for 10 years, then yes they would beat Biden’s total. Here’s an idea reverend, pretend its dollars in a collection plate and do the math that way. I’m sure you’d get the total in a nano second. Now having said that, I will not be shocked to see Chuck Norris standing at my door tonight to round house kick me. Not one bit.
- I get to see the coming out party of Sarah Palin live. I am shocked that after having to listen to Rudy, I didn’t slam my car into a rock wall. My poor wife still looks ill.
- I was a bit shocked at Queen Palin’s speech to be honest. No play for the Clinton voters here. She went right on the attack after Obama and Biden. She delivered her speech well, hit her applause lines. The coaching paid off for her as did all the beauty contests. She seemed to be running more as a wife would than a Vice-President. She seemed to be offering an alternative to Michelle Obama.
- The Talking Heads have said that this is the most conservative Republican delegation ever and I believe Palin is their new star. I felt they were embracing her because she is not McCain. They don’t love their war hero that much.
- Get off the experience issue guys. Palin has some experience true but guess what? She is running to be Vice-President. Obama, McCain and Biden have exactly the same amount of executive experience: zero. Chant that at John Thursday!!
- If kids are off limits then why did Governor Palin out her 17 year old pregnant daughter and then send her to the airport to meet and greet a delegation? Can’t have it both ways Queen Palin.
- Mark Warner did us a disservice at the DNC as a keynote speaker.
- Palin appears to be the RNC’s Obama. Please Barack, stay out of the fight with her and unleash Hillary on her. Please!!
- Governor Plain, you took the gloves off last night. October 2nd you get to take on Joe Biden head-to head. If Joe doesn’t chew you up and spit you out, then he and Barack don’t deserve to win.
- When did the RNC gain a monopoly on Christianity and service? They have lots of good Christian love and pride especially in their veterans but where are they when those vets come home to horrid medical facilities and little to no help with post war needs? Top of the line prosthetics? Sorry, not in the budget. Job training? Pull your self up by your boot straps but we’ll cheer for you at the parades when you are in uniform. Hypocrites! You make me sick.
Night Three of the Republication National Convention...
Is it just me or are there like barely any people of color at the Republican Convention? Or maybe that phrase to them means brunette. Seriously, Carly Fiorina had to darken down to back up Meg Whitman or it would have been non-stop blondes.Anyway, not that there's anything wrong with being rich. I just can't stand rich people whining the trickle down mantra. Hey, they got to their positions somehow--so can you. But the government shouldn't help you. Nope. And they're pretty upfront about if the rich folk's taxes go up, they'll just pass that burden along to everyone else...isn't that what they've done during the Bush and Reagan years anyway? Hypocrisy. The GOP ruins the economy and the surplus and then gripes about paying their fair share. It's okay for Bush to leave this country in tatters but don't expect anyone to pick up the pieces. You're on your own, as Barack and others have said.Well, as an American, I find that self-righteous attitude disgusting. They back up their personal luck stories with tales of the valiant folk who've fought and died for our country. As if only Republicans have served their country. My ancestors were here before the Revolutionary War and many served along the way. And being a tortured war hero doesn't mean you're automatically qualified to serve as president. Between Mitt Romney, Huck Finn Huckabee and blood-blathering Rudi Giuliani, it's getting pretty moist in the xCel center. Now, he's denigrating Obama for having worked as a community organizer.
Now it's a circus. Drunk people are turning beet red under their straw hats guffawing for the "nice" mayor who has tried to milk 9/11 for all its worth. "Change is not a destination, just like hope is not a strategy," he says. What does he know about improving the economy? The GOP is only about pillaging. Oh...and now he's complaining about the Dems not talking about Islamic terrorism. He's pushing his constituency for a Holy War. The idiot. Now he's saying Democrats have given up on Iraq and, therefore, have given up on America. Hello...W went to the wrong country! It wasn't Iraq that attacked us, it was Al Quaeda in Afghanistan.Giuliani is good at propaganda. You have to give him that.Oh, and now Governor Palin is on the stage. The cutaway shot is to the boy making eye-contact with his future mother-in-law...looks like he's about to cry. Talk about being able to deliver. I hope her daughter actually likes him. I wonder what Hillary Clinton is doing right now. This Palin woman is slick. She's a true believer. (Note to self...reread Eric Hoffer's book.) She's a threat and the Dems are going to need to make their case. Oh my...the audience is eating her up. There she goes telling the world her son's exact deployment date...why is that necessary? Oh...because it's 9/11. Duh.
Now she's addressing special needs families. "You will have a friend, an advocate in the White House." Great, but who's going to give us coverage for health insurance? She's definitely a politician. And just happens to mention hubby's 1/144th Yu'pik Inuit ancestry but says "eskimo".
Oh my...she grew up with the people who "are always proud of America." I wonder why, then, her husband was/is a member of the secessionist movement in Alaska? Oh, and now the baby is on the littlest daughter's lap. HAng on to him while daddy takes his bow."Being a small town mayor is like a community organizer except that you have actual responsibilities." A real zinger, Sarah. May I call you Sarah? Oh and a bunch of muscle men in suits are dragging a woman up the stairs...did she not clap enough for Princess Sarah? Oh my, she's gonna be a tough one to beat. Oh...and she's going to have a "servant's heart and carry (her)self in that spirit as vice president." Mmmmmmkay. Why the dis on community organizing though? Snarky. She's slick...kinda like Willy. She's lying about not wanting the bridge to nowhere. First she wanted it and when the Feds cut off funding, that's when she said, "thanks but no thanks" and kept the money!
Now she's talking about ravaging the North Slope of Alaska. And she's picking up the alternative fuels football. And she's really dissing Obama. Nasty. She's quite the cheerleader. I wonder how she debates. She's got those lies on her sleeve. Boy, if I could speak so quickly, I'd want to tell the truth, not obfuscate. She's got a real smarmy tone. Now she's rah-rah-ing the fact that John McCain is the only one to have served in the armed forces. See...guns matter.McCain might be smart. He picked a daughter-like shadow. Smart move on her part taking the baby in her arms after her family joining them onstage. And now there's John Mccain...he's seems pleasantly surprised. Okay, so if they win who's going to give him his Ritalin in the White House?
Learn about the potential next Cheney's at http://www.thenextcheney.com.
Will it be:
The candidate to the right of John McCain in the presidential primaries (there are actually two favorites of the fundamentalists that meet this criteria)?
Cheney's handpicked Republican candidate for governor of the great state of Minnesota?
The governor who supports Barack Obama's energy position but has shady ethics that would make BushCheneyMcCain blush?
The self-centered ex-CEO that was driven out of her company under a cloud of scandal and has no understanding of basic economics?
Stay tuned. I hear we'll know more this week.
Republicans need to be Republicans. The greatest threat to classic Republicanism is not liberalism; it's this new brand of libertarianism, which is social liberalism and economic conservatism, but it's a heartless, callous, soulless type of economic conservatism because it says "look, we want to cut taxes and eliminate government. If it means that elderly people don't get their Medicare drugs, so be it. If it means little kids go without education and healthcare, so be it." Well, that might be a quote pure economic conservative message, but it's not an American message. It doesn't fly. People aren't going to buy that, because that's not the way we are as a people. That's not historic Republicanism. Historic Republicanism does not hate government; it's just there to be as little of it as there can be. But they also recognize that government has to be paid for. If you have a breakdown in the social structure of a community, it's going to result in a more costly government ... police on the streets, prison beds, court costs, alcohol abuse centers, domestic violence shelters, all are very expensive. What's the answer to that? Cut them out? Well, the libertarians say "yes, we shouldn't be funding that stuff." But what you've done then is exacerbate a serious problem in your community. You can take the cops off the streets and just quit funding prison beds. Are your neighborhoods safer? Is it a better place to live? The net result is you have now a bigger problem than you had before.
So it's the revolution of common sense returning to the Republican party?
Do you think he'd be saying this if the Democratic primary had been over in February? I think the prolonged Democratic primary had helped move the country a bit to the left.
"Shoot Obama!" (Huckabee)
"Assasinate Obama, and I will be there for you!" (Clinton)
"Kill Osama AND Obama!!" (Trotta)
In an interview, Governor Mike Huckabee stated if asked he would run as Obama's vice president.
Governor Huckabee shows what a honorable man is.
Governor Huckabee has always been about the people not the politics.

Anyone else going into shock over the Sunday talk shows focus on Huckabee as a VP consideration for McBoosh?!?!?! Obviously, everyone producing the news shows has gone insane to promote this lunatic as an option, hoping to generate outrage (on both sides) for the sake of spiking ratings. Just two days after he erased any doubts about his lack of wisdom or judgment with that tasteless, jaw dropping, appalling, insulting, karma damaging "joke" about Obama facing a gun... why is this dimwit appearing on the Sunday talk-fests? Surely I do not need to nudge all rational voters to do all possible to make sure this guy is NOT among the choices on the fall ballot!
WE have survived the Kitchen Sink ..We have survived the Rev,, We have Survived and Rose to High Grounds all built upon Baracks Mission and foundation. WE have COME Together United .. Found, working still ... WE are ..yes we are.
NOW ..we have a person who was Once a Candidate throwing more than a kitchen sink, more than a Rev, more than Racism or tripped up sound bites. We have Mike Huckabee .. speaking live .. and choosing words .. of such disgrace ..such inane words ... out of a falling chair.
His only quip he could come up with from the sound distruption was that was Barack Obama falling to the ground .. from his own words.
"He Just tripped off a chair. He was getting ready to speak. Somebody aimed a gun at him and he...he dove for the floor."
I do not care that Huckabee is a Republican. I do not Care that Huckabee finds himself a Minister of Faith. All of HIM speaks ... In this short Quip of his own words ..He is of no character, he is of no faith of mine, he is of no belief of mine. His true Jealousy and self riteousness showed within his words he spoke outloud to the nation.
His Retraction of simply stating I meant nothing, I did not mean to offend anyone. I say Mike Huckabee who is one to be known of throwing out his Morals and his Judgements upon his Law ..take a long hard look in the Mirror My Brother .. because YOU have found your true self. NO Bible, NO ministry is to protect you.
He in an interview last year said as a kid he was bullied and such and never fit in ..Until he found God.... Hmm
Within his Comments of Barack Obama ( their was no humor) God claims Immunity Huck ..
Its ALL YOU
and WE CAN without YOU .. and WILL
Peace to Barack, Michelle and Family
Huckabee joked today about Obama being aimed at with a gun. Before that he had joked about shooting Mitt Romney during the Iowa primary. Here are the videos:

Outrageous video of Huckabee joking about a gun being aimed at Obama
Today during a speech in front of the National Rifle Association, Republican Mike Huckabee heard a loud noise offstage and quipped "That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He's getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him and he — he dove for the floor."
Even the NRA crowd didn't think the joke was funny.
Mike Huckabee's hateful "jokes" during his speech in front of the NRA conference were uncalled for and are what I choose to call nuanced language to cause physical harm. There have been many threats against Barack Obama and his family just because of his race. Now we have an unsuccessful republican candidate making jokes about gun-play. This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS behavior and the NRA needs to reject, denounce, and distance their organization from such dastardly people.Mike Huckabee is not the so-called respectful man of God that he pretends to be. If he were, he would not turn these types of insensitive statements into "jokes". There is no way that he doesn't understand what Barack has been going through as the first African American presidential candidate to make it this close to becoming the President of the United States. Is the Republican party so scared of Barack beating McCain that they will stoop to such low tactics and possibly have someone take them up on trying to kill Barack? I hope the FBI and the Secret Services are paying close and full attention to this madman!!!You can read the article here: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/
I don't even care who the nominees are... just look at the info.
The Democratic Primary currently showing Hillary winning by 8.6% - check the PA Elections site
http://www.electionreturns.state.pa.us/ is simple next to the other things to consider.
First, Independents couldn't vote in this primary so we have NO idea what they think. Now as to the Republicans...
With Huckabee and Paul out of the race (but still on the ballot) but not campaigning, they still, together, claimed over 27% of the vote! That is huge! Will those folks sit out the Fall election? Will they return to the fold and vote Republican? Might some swing Democrat?
So when you hear someone saying Obama can't carry Pennsylvania in the fall... be sure to explain to them (once you get done laughing) why that is a preposterous assumption!
The presumptive Republican nomine, John McCain, and the fight-it-out-to-the-last candidate, Mike Huckabee have both defended Obama, Senator McCain saying that as someone who knew Barack he was certain that the senator held no such views and Governor Huckabee going as far to defend Reverend Wright as well, offering that you have to 'cut some slack' to the sufferers of segregation and the struggler of civil rights, such as Rev. Wright. Senator Clinton has argued that she would not have stayed at a church that had such views.
I will not engage in any criticisms of Senator Clinton or try to analyze her motivations as some have done. Rather, I'd like to point of that the statement typifies her response to bad associations. I cite as just one example, that she "omitted her mentor Marian Wright Edelman from among the 400 others she mentions in the acknowledgemets of her autobiography because Edelman had broken with her when Bill Clinton abolished the federal welfare saftey net in 1996." (blog) She is in fact disassociating herself from Reverend Wright himself (I suppose to make it clear that the invitation-only Prayer Breakfast to which he was invited wouldn't be done again I'm sure.)
Don't get me wrong, there I times when I think you take a stand by staying away, i.e. Obama's response to the endorsement of Louis Farakkan. There are also situations in which the lines are not clear cut and there are also situations in which it is actually more noble to stay and effect change in the environment. You are to be the change you wish to see in the world, according to Ghandi. You must set the example within the environment...
On a more political note, there can be no benefits to such a response from Senator Clinton. David Brooks writes an article in the New York Times that addresses the danger Mrs. Clinton is now causing to her party. It is unfortunate.
A closer look at Trinity United Church of Christ. I smile inside to note that they are ranked the most viewed of the week by YouTube.
Good old Mike Huckabee. On MSNBC, Mike Huckabee, when questioned on the question of Reverend Wright's sermon and Senator Obama's subsequent speech.
Here's what he shared with the hosts of the show.
"[Y]ou can't hold the candidate responsible for everything that people around him may say or do," Huckabee says. "It's interesting to me that there are some people on the left who are having to be very uncomfortable with what ... Wright said, when they all were all over a Jerry Falwell, or anyone on the right who said things that they found very awkward and uncomfortable, years ago. Many times those were statements lifted out of the context of a larger sermon. Sermons, after all, are rarely written word for word by pastors like Rev. Wright, who are delivering them extemporaneously, and caught up in the emotion of the moment. There are things that sometimes get said, that if you put them on paper and looked at them in print, you'd say 'Well, I didn't mean to say it quite like that.'"Later, he defended Wright's anger, too:"As easy as it is for those of us who are white to look back and say 'That's a terrible statement!' ... I grew up in a very segregated South. And I think that you have to cut some slack -- and I'm gonna be probably the only conservative in America who's gonna say something like this, but I'm just tellin' you -- we've gotta cut some slack to people who grew up being called names..."
I'm really comforted by this defense on the part of Huckabee. I was afraid there was no sympathy from conservative quarters. It showed true mercy from one pastor to another, both brothers in Christ. A token of saving grace this Easter.
(Cross-posted on Latte.)
A month ago, it was already clear that the campaign math overwhelmingly favored Barack Obama. Since then, six more states have voted, and the numbers are even more in Obama's favor. He's won 30 contests to Hillary's 14, leads by about 150 pledged delegates, and leads in votes cast by about 800,000. With the decisions by Michigan and Florida not to hold do-over elections, Clinton has almost no chance to gain the lead by any of these metrics.
Today the New York Times reports that despite her having raised $34.5 million last month (compared to Obama's $55.5 million), she has only $3 million to spend on nominating contests:
