How magnificent is the Lord Almighty
And forgiving His glory
Padre Nuestros en Los Cieolos above
Praises we give you with our undying love
Your hand has guided us yet another year
Today with families we gather and share
Hours of joy over a specially prepared meal
And give thanks for all the things we feel
No worries will overcome us today
Kneeling together and to you, pray
Sorrows we forget as you descend
Give us your blessings and our problems mend
It’s great Lord to give you thanks for family
Very great for friends, our jobs, health and opportunity
I know Lord some will gave you thanks for their Governments
National Organizations, Churches and resolved arguments
God our thanks is as varied as you have made us all
Diverse as the snow flakes on the winter snowfall
And still one thing is possible, where ever we may stay
You God make it possible to have a Happy Thanksgiving Day!
Our all new Ojamas for 2009-2010 are ready for pre-ordering! If you tried our original Ojamas, you'll be thrilled with the softer, luxurious cotton flannel fabric and improved sizing and fit for ladies in our new design. Throughout the year, we surveyed our customers and the two areas which stood out most were fabric and fit. You told us you wanted softer cotton flannel and that you wanted a better fitting garment for ladies, and that's exactly what we're delivering this year. An overwhelming majority of customers who liked the orginal design with the campaign logo said they wanted to see something more fun with our new President's face, and we've captured that in our new design as well.
Happy Holidays... Everyone!
We had so much to be thankful for on Thanksgiving Day, and we have so much to celebrate as the days get longer and the nights grow shorter!

I get tired of hearing myself bitch and moan, but...
I am one of the most non-religious people I know, but I have a family that isn't and they engage in the little yearly affair Christians like to put on called CHRISTMAS. This means family flying in to visit, spending time with family, cooking meals, decorating your elderly parents' house for Christmas the way they like it (and can no longer do themselves), and a general increase in activity in one's personal life.
Even before the election took place and we knew the joyous outcome, I felt strongly about capitalizing on the grassroots movement we've all created. I want nothing more than to continue to be the change, but does it have to be right now? Can't we wait until after the holidays are over?
I want to participate in community meetings but now is just not a good time, and it probably isn't for a lot of people. Will we have similar community organizing meetings after the first of the year? Will people who jump back in at that point be disregarded or left out?

I put the flag out on holidays because that's what dad always did.
But when I put out the flag on Memorial Day, it always makes me a little sad because I think most of men we honor on this day would rather been doing something else when they died in one of America's wars.
Most of men who become fatalities in war die young and for political causes that seemed popular at the time. No matter how they died, they all died in fulfillment of the adage that "Old men fight wars and young men die".
I've told my students on many occasions that if I could change one universal political practice it would be to require that if you vote of a war, you must immediately enlist to fight in the war you approved.
That would either give us fewer wars or more physically disqualified enlistees.
The number of Americans who have died in modern wars is too high but relatively smaller than the number of young men from other countries who have died in wars the wars of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
One of the few pieces of "good news" to emerge from the modern war system is that in recent years, the survival rate of a American wounded in battle is dramatically higher today than in past wars. In World War II, about 3 in 10 American soldiers wounded in combat died -- that number dropped to about 2.5 in 10 in Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf War. In Iraq and Afghanistan, the number has dropped to 1 in 7.
On this Memorial Day, I've been thinking about the young men who have fought in our wars who came home alive but physically or mentally scarred from the experience.
The exact number of American veterans suffering from postraumatic stress disorder is controversial because many are never diagnosed. Recent studies estimate that 1 in 5 Afghanistan and Iraq war vets have PTSD and the Veteran's Administration has noted a dramatic increase in PTSD claims in recent years that includes a 150% increase in cases between 1999-2004 alone.
Unlike the men who died in America's wars, these victims are still with us and deserve the best treatment that society can provide. To honor America's war dead by waving a flag or organizing a few parades is cheap. To give honor and medical treatment to the living and mentally wounded may be more expensive but it's what they deserve.
Again, it seems to me that if you're going to vote to send young men to war, the least you can do is vote to take care of them when they come home, particularly if they come back without all of their faculties intact.
The fact that our VA system has gone underfunded in recent years relative to the American defense budget is probably one of the less-noted tragedies of the current American war system and certainly worthy of more attention than it's getting right now.
I was thinking about J.D. Salinger's short story, For Esmé - with Love and Squalor, while I was writing this. If you haven't, Memorial Day would be a good time to give it a read.
This is a re-post from my other blog from last year. Many of you have the day off today and I think it would be a good idea if we all took a day away from our jobs and do something to commemorate MLK. -me
My dream is that the Martin Luther King holiday will one day be universally celebrated as a day for all of us to reflect on the power of peace and reconciliation.
Dr. King is one of many historical figures that I wish I could have known personally. I’ve always considered him to be someone who has the potential to transcend race and ethnicity and to compel us to take a harder took at our beliefs.
would have liked to have thanked him for that personally.
Obviously, the civil rights movement did a lot more to improve the lives of African-Americans in the United States than it did for people like me. But the indirect impact of what he did to make all of us better people cannot be ignored.
When I think of King, I think of courage and conviction. I know some of you will disagree with me about this but I’ve never considered Martin Luther King to be any less an example of courage under fire than the Marine who charges a machine gun nest or a soldier who braves a dangerous situation to save the lives of his squad.
The life and work of Dr. King should be celebrated by all Americans every day, not just in one of our many communities and not on one particular day. If King were alive today,
I think he would be telling all of us to work on being better peacemakers, both personally and internationally.
That’s what we should be thinking and praying about today.
In the meadow, we can build:
Tis the season to be hopeful, and Obama supporters everywhere are proving it's quite possible to be Fired Up even in the falling snow.
And one of our most passionate volunteers in Iowa wants to wish you all a happy holidays:

I wanted to wish all of you Happy Holidays! It is only a matter of time until the wave of change begins. It is an exciting time. Hopefully we all will get what we wanted for Christmas... a victory in Iowa and New Hampshire.
People talk about Barack Obama's ability to reach even the most unlikely of supporters. Republicans, high school students, 99-year-old Iowans who have never caucused in their life. Well, now it's confirmed:
Even the Grinch is voting for Barack Obama.
OK, the Grinch's animator. Meet Tom Ray!
Tom was one of the five animators who created "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" back in 1966 (which was incidentally a favorite of Senator Obama's as a kid.) In addition to the Grinch, we can also thank Tom for being part of the team that brought us Daffy Duck, Tom & Jerry, Yogi Bear, and a smart-aleck, Brooklyn-type rabbit known to most of us by the name of Bugs.
Back in 2004, Tom recalls his wife Brenda was watching the DNC convention in 2004.
"Tom," she said, "you have to come and look at this."
He came and had a look. Barack had just begun his now famous DNC speech. "And I just fell in love with him -- like so many other people who watched that speech, and the many that have followed -- I was swept away."
Tom has never gotten involved with a Presidential campaign, but he says this one is different.
"I can't go another four years shaking my head," Tom says. "And no other candidate can hold a candle to Barack. He will simply make a wonderful President. He's balanced and likeable -- and sharp. That's what I like. He's sharp."
When Tom and his wife first got in touch with us, they asked, "Can anyone endorse Barack Obama?"
Well, yes they can! And we're proud to announce that Tom Ray endorses Barack Obama for President of the United States.
Happy holidays everyone...we hope you got in at least one viewing of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!"
And of course, please share your own endorsements in the comments below...
Is a change we can believe in!
Happy Holidays from Nebraska!
This Friday, the Obama campaign will begin airing a new holiday television ad in New Hampshire to mark the holiday season. The ad features Barack and Michelle Obama and their daughters Sasha, age 6, and Malia, age 9, gathered by a Christmas tree thanking New Hampshire families for the hospitality and stories they have shared with the Obamas during this campaign and wishing New Hampshire families a merry Christmas and happy holidays.
Today, we also begin airing a new ad, entitled "Honesty."
Speaking of ornaments, a great (and crafty) grassroots supporter made these herself and brought them in to the office:
She had magnets too! Some of us got both.
Got any great ideas or events planned for the holidays? Let us know! Blog@barackobama.com.
