Today's youth may not know who Tokyo Rose is, but everybody knows who Sean Hannity is, he's America's second biggest talk radio personality and also one of the richest media figures in the U.S., currently working under a $100 million dollar contract.But is Hannity a hardworking American success story, or has his contentious brand of talk actually deteriorated the quality of public discourse in the country?On the one hand, Hannity addresses the strong demand for right-wing programming, covering the news and events left unreported by the "liberal media". On the other hand, Bush-friendly hosts such as Hannity stand accused of acting as the media surrogates for an illicit White House propaganda operation, spinning news irresponsibly to condition American "hearts and minds" just as they did to the Iraqis.
If you have read my post on the Auto Industry, then the following couple of paragraphs about Mitt will not surprise you. ( Here is an actual quote from his father that he said in 1963: "The Big Four Automakers don't have to worry about giving the Unions what they want, as long as the benefits will not be due for decades. By that time the labor plants will be outside the U.S.")Not surprising to hear Mitt Romney, son of George Romney, and his states version of mandatory medical insurance. Mitt's approach goes pretty much like - You'll get only what you can pay for, and move to another state if you undeserving poor don't like it. Massachusetts has worked long and hard to become one of the wealthiest per capita states and does not want the burden of 'lower income individuals’. Best to wash our hands of them by financially crowding them out. If you are ‘in’ with the wealthy, you will find that "financially crowding them out" is a favorite. This is not a direct quote of Mitt; but, after rubbing elbows with enough aristocratic politicians in private you would be aghast to hear how dehumanizing they speak of those below their ‘class’, or as they prefer to call it ‘standing in the community’.Incidentally, it’s interesting how George and Mitt Romney amassed tremendous wealth, $80 billion or so privately held now by Mitt et al. And how did they originally do that; they did it by becoming suppliers to the Big 3 from the Romney parts plants in Mexico; true leaders in forging the path to Mexico and overseas. It's also interesting to view the ancestral history of the Romney family and Mexico, as to why they originally moved there and still have strong ties there, all on Wikipedia. A common theme that shows in multiple generations of Romneys is disregard for fundamental American laws and ways they sneak around them. Also, shown at corporate websites, are interesting ties between Mitt Romney and the fanatical right wing radio talk shows that he owns for propaganda purposes. For the spread of propaganda Mitt Romney owns 'Clear Channel Communications' with 1,100 stations including all the 'Premiere Radio Channel' programs with Limbaugh, Beck, Noory, Hannity, .… All are talk radio shows that use propaganda to sway the masses. It is so much more than the false wrapping of throwing it up against the wall and seeing what sticks. They actually use highly professional underlying tactics of sophistication, complexity, planning, and decisiveness that the average Joe the plumber would never catch on to, nor George the political 'sideline hobbyist?'. It's not all the fun and silly games that they wrap it up in, for simple entertainment, all for ‘free’ delivery to you. Give yourself a quick introduction to propaganda tactics by reading a bit of what's written in Wikipedia under ‘Propaganda’, look at ‘Techniques’ as a first preview. You will begin to recognize the rightwing tactics used on their talk shows, lots of trickery and deception, far beyond the wrappings of bias. You will easily see the professional use of propaganda if you become knowledgeable of the methods of propaganda. Fox cable television News is closely associated. Talk about greed of control, influence, ideology, and knowledge. Whether Mitt Romney returns to again run for higher office or remains behind the scenes driving GOP political directions, he will continue, and continue with greed. (Has anyone looked to see how much of Bush's original $700 billion dollars has gone to the web of companies that Romney has woven? I really don't know, but wonder if the good old boys network continues?) Also, see my other posts about Libertarianism, a driving force at the top of the Republican Party. I have focused my education of Libertarianism to come directly from what they have written themselves, such as their own websites, rather than what others have said about it. I am finding Libertarianism to be immoral; I believe most Americans will find it offensive when looked at in depth. As it is thought through, there are hard-nosed uncaring consequences for those not in control and for those who don’t have power. A game to Libertarians, Survival of the Greediest.

Last night on Fox News, co-host Alan Colmes asked former House Speaker Newt Gingrich about a Jerusalem Post article yesterday reporting that Israel is preparing options to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities. At first Gingrich gave a measured response, saying “I don’t think we’re prepared to sanction an attack on Iran.” Yet just moments later, Gingrich said the Israelis should set a deadline for an attack on Iran:

A strange thing happened to me when I was creating my bio for this site - I realized that I had more in common with traditional Conservatism then Ronald Reagan, Rush Limbaugh, George Bush, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Dick Cheney, John McCain or the folks running the Heritage Foundation. After reading this article, you might find that you, dear reader, are also far more Conservative then those rich elite and that even Barack Obama, labeled the most "liberal" Senator in Congress is actually more Conservative then any of these other Americans. [Update: Barron's agrees.]
“Mad about The One. The US media have been captivated by Obama, at the expense of their curiosity and scepticism.”
This is the title of an article by Harold Evans in The Guardian on November 1, 2008. He resorts to the bias he decries in his one-sided column. I have reproduced it below in its entirety, along with my annotations {…} . Phrases that I comment upon are in boldface.
It's fitting that the cynicism "vote early and vote often" is commonly attributed to Chicago's Democratic boss, mayor Richard Daley, who famously voted the graveyards in 1960 to help put John Kennedy in the White House. In this 2008 race, it's the American media that have voted very early and often. They long ago elected the star graduate of Chicago's Democratic machine, Barack Obama. {Obama is a hardly a “graduate“ of the machine. What about Harvard Law, Columbia, etc.?}
I am not talking of editorials in newspapers, though Obama has the preponderance of the endorsements over John McCain. Obama certainly deserves the credit for recruiting impressive advisers and running a more efficient campaign machine than any one in the US's political history.
What's troubling to anyone old-fashioned enough to care about standards in journalism is the news coverage in mainstream media. Forget the old notions of objectivity, fairness, thoroughness, and so on. The nastiest rumours on both sides haven't been published, but the coverage has been slavishly on the side of "the one". {“Slavish”? Evans’s description.}
Greetings, and I'm so happy to be on the Obama/Biden pages, linking up and joining the discourse.
Here in the Metro St. Louis Area, we've got a very entertaining radio station, owned and operated by Endless Communications and leased primarily to Fox News, on the dial at 97.1. And, though it is merely a stream of invective and vitriol, I've been listening almost religiously. O'Reilly, Hannity, Ingram, Savage (the most appropriate name), Levine, and even our own local talent Glenn Beck and his crew (I love Terbrock)--all of them mis-balanced and all of them a hoot.
But, the thing that draws my attention to the Conservative radio is that they seem to be making a difference in the way the political waters flow. Sure, it's back-water, but still, they are damming and damning. And its the most crazy that seem to get the most reaction.
Primary example? Savage, last night on his show, while pounding away on the various tropes of the ConRad groups, continued to push the Obama Birth Certificate issue. The primary concern was the Senator's going to Hawaii. His speculation varied from going to collect the real Certificate to destroying Kenyan certificates, to having one made special for him while he was there. At one point, he even agreed with a caller that it could be possible that Sen. Obama was going to kill his own grandmother for the sympathy vote!
What's on the front page of barackobama.com today? The Birth Certificate.
Where is the Liberal response to this? Where are our talk radio hosts? We don't need something as crazy as Savage, but it would be helpful to know that I could find a Maddow or Olberman on the radio, not just on TV.
The people who agree with these hosts are already not voting for Obama. However, the more doubt is put into the heads of the independents without refutation within the same media, the more voters we're losing.
Are there options out there I'm unaware of? If so, what do I do to have them provided to me?

Regarding the swiftboat type documentary about Barack Obama that Hannity and Colmes of FOX news is going to air this Sunday, October 12th, I think that It's pure unadulterated bull pucky, let alone reckless and dangerous. Getting people all worked up to hate a man who many find to be refreshing and genuine person, is wrong on so many levels. Resorting to this level of attack on this man of character absolutely repulses me. I guess the lesson that Sarah Palin and John McCain learned from stirring up hatred amoung the crowds didn't register with Hannity and Colmes. It appears they wish to keep stiring up hatred and fright amoung the people just to get votes for McCain. Well, hate material won't work with me and a lot of other people ... Senator Obama is a very good man, husband and father and a true American. Their continual portraying of Senator Obama tells me they have lost touch with reality.
I can not stand about 99% of what Sean Hannity says on the radio and on TV. He will say anything to protect his side, even if it means lying and misrepresenting the facts. One of his favorite tactics is to ask callers what accomplishments qualifies Obama to be president? Before they get a chance to respond he cuts them off and makes fun of Obama having been a Community Organizer. First, he got the idea for this question from Govenor Palin, it is not even his idea. Second, what Hannity is not telling anyone is what Obama did as a Community Organizer, that is because he organized failing communities so they could get jobs and social reform and Hannity does not want anyone to know that. He stood up for workers and their families that where betrayed by big company lay-offs and closures. Third, anytime an intellegent person comes on his show and opposes him, he cuts them off, talks over them or he ask some rediculus question, ,badgering them to ask it while they are trying to speak. I don't know if he is trying for better ratings, if he is working for the Repulican Party directly or both!
According to the Gallup polls, and regardless of the political PR machines, McCain and Obama have both been hovering in the mid-40% range since the end of March. It is hardly a mandate for either candidate that they cannot pull a significant majority, but it is a sign that America continues to be divided right down the middle: if only the divide wasn’t an unbreachable chasm.
Face it, in 2004 President Bush won by just one state, a few electoral candidates and about a million votes (or 1/300th of the population). In 2000, Bush won the election barely and lost in the popular vote. The 21st century has polarized not into democrat and republican, but into liberal and conservative. Not just liberal and conservative, but the fringes of the “left wing” and “neocon right.” Those who have not chosen sides navigate the conversations of politics at their own risk.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden will win with our votes, organization and own accounts.

Wednesday night on "The Daily Show," Jon Stewart hit Karl Rove and Bill O'Reilly with damning evidence of their hypocrisy regarding Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
While Rove recently praised Palin's experience as the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, Stewart showed video of Rove trashing Virginia Governor — and former Richmond Mayor — Tim Kaine's executive experience, listing all the cities that are bigger than Richmond and calling such a pick "political."
Then, after recent video of O'Reilly describing Bristol Palin's pregnancy as a family issue, Stewart showed a clip of the Fox News host blaming Jamie Lynn Spears' parents for her teenage pregnancy.
Finally, after showing video of Dick Morris complaining about the rampant sexism in the media coverage of Sarah Palin, Stewart unveiled a clip of Morris saying that Hillary hides behind the sexism defense, and that anytime "the big boys" pick on Hillary, "she retreats behind the apron strings."
"In Dick Morris' defense," Stewart said, "he is a lying sack of sh*t."

With Jerome Corsi's new screed attacking Barack Obama, he's made it back to the airwaves where he likes it. However, back in 2004, when he was attacking John Kerry, some awful comments he made on the Free Republic website got him kicked off of even mainstay right-wing shows like Hannity & Colmes.
So what did Dr. Corsi do in the interim? He found himself some new beliefs and a new media outlet to spew them on. The Alex Jones Show is a clearinghouse for the worst sort of rightwing malarkey that you can find anywhere. Jones is a maxed-out supporter of Ron Paul and will scream at you about the Trilateral Commission and the New World Order with a mishmash of half-truths and open lies streaming so fast, you won't be able to keep up.
In a town hall meeting, Obama told a 7 yo (who asked "why did you decide to run for president?") that he wanted a better America for his daughters... a America that was more like it used to be.
Hannity cried foul... When over 75% of our citizens feel that we are worse off than we were 4/8 years ago and that we as a country are moving in the wrong direction... WHY IS IT WRONG TO BE HONEST AND SAY THAT WE ARE NOT AS GREAT OF A COUNTRY THAT WE ONCE WERE? And that a goal is to return us to or even surpass our previous greatness!!!!
We need to stop being so sensitive and wake up people. We have to ACTUALLY ADMIT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM IF WE HOPE TO GET A SOLUTION!!!! We finally have someone who is willing to tell it how it is to anyone and everyone-and not just talk, but actually do something about it. Let him. Elect Barack Obama not just for yourself or your family and friends... but for ALL of us! We deserve it!
The Fox Network constantly blares about its "Fair and Balanced" coverage of news and events, claiming "we report, you decide". On the O'Reilly Factor and the Hannity/Colmes show, they also accuse the mainstream media, CBS, MSNBC and others to be "in the tank for Obama". Yes, the "media" in general is more favorably disposed to Obama; however, the "media" is NOT engaged in a daily campaign of innuendo, ridicule, fear mongering and character assasination against Senator McCain, the way the Fox Sean Hannity Show is against Senator Obama.
Night after Night for the last four months, Sean Hannity has recited his same hackneyed phrases, ran the same video clips, interviewed the same band of "objective" analysts (harcore Republican operatives like Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich and Bay Buchanan, coupled with still angry Clinton supporters) and all the while constantly posturing in an imperious tone, wearing a sophomoric grin and wrapping himself in the flag. His latest deprecation is to constantly refer to Senator Obama as "the organizer". To "couterbalance" this assault, the show offers a weak counterpoint in Liberal Alan Colmes who is too timourous to effectively challenge Hannity and his cohorts in any forceful and meaningful way. And when Colmes is out, the guest "fillins" are either punching bags for Hannity or, even worse, put on an totally inept performance such as Susan Estrich last week.
The Fox Network should have the decency to warn the viewer that they are getting anti Obama propaganda, not reasoned opinion, and certainly not objective two-sided discussion.
