We have come so far and flown so high that it is nearly inconceivable we may have gone right beyond our areas of normal expansive and progressive interest. Flight. Ever since I was a child I have loved flight. Any kind of flying machine, or person who operated a flying machine, was of great and endearing interest to me. My father was in the military, which allowed our family to fly from duty station to duty station across the land and over oceans. And I loved it all, from the aluminum framed web seats, to the loud piston engines of mixed dependabilty...and even the boxed chicken lunches, which were commonly distributed. Although planes were not on time or always able to take off due to weather or mechanical problems, it was okay. Airports had few services and little in the way of entertainment while we waited, interminably, to fly.
But we waited and we waited willingly. We loved to fly, and we loved all the preparation that went into the process. We loved the unseen 'John Wayne' pilots, and we loved the stewardesses in their wonderfully stylish attire. We loved the big aluminum monsters that flew us through the air. Most of us knew them all, by airline, model description put out by the airline, and even the manufacturer.
So what the hell happened? United is losing money...again. The rest are losing money, or making little, while they shrink the number and length of their flights. And that is all over the world. The airlines are all complaining about falling revenue and passenger miles. And they are correct. So what happened?
We don't like to fly anymore. We fell out of love. Flying today is a bitter experience of humiliating phony service. It is a series of unending embarrassments, to those who fly economy, and almost intolerable in first class, which is so expensive as to be almost humorous. We have horrid parking at airports and worse intra-airport transportation. Just the act of dropping somebody off or picking them up is to be avoided at almost any cost. Homeland Security is rotten. Rotten attitudes and stupidly rotten procedures. More humiliation. Once aboard an aircraft it is just as bad. Less room for carry-on, if any room at all. Charges for everything. Crammed planes outfitted with ever smaller seats and spaces. Tickets that cannot be changed. Tickets that cannot be returned. Fear of being run through some security system and denied the right to fly. Fear of everything connected to flight or the geographics where it occurs.
We don't like to fly anymore. That is what happened to revenue and passenger miles. We attempt to avoid it. We take a car or a train, but, more and more, we don't go at all. And it is getting worse. With less disposable income, we fly only when we absolutely have to. Our hatred for the experience is obvious to all around us at the airport, making matters all the worse. We hate the security guards, even though we understand their work. We hate the airplane crews even though we know that it is not their fault. We hate the dirty unsafe equipment we see all the time.
And so, we are beginning not to fly. It is the airlines fault. It is our governmental leadership's fault. It is the caving in to vapid stupidity at fault. There are not going to be any 9/11's because no passengers will allow it anymore. Heard of any hijacked airliners lately? Me neither. But I think it is maybe too late for the current airlines to recover. Flight will have to change. We won't accept it the way it is. We will kill it off, by not going. Then something will replace it. Like cars. I noticed, the other day, that I was standing at a Borders bookstore magazine rack in the automobile section. I have always bought automobile magazines. I looked and then bought nothing. My love affair with that method of transportation is dying too. I used to love to read about powerful sports cars, the faster the better. Now I think they are a joke. I do not want to pay for gas to support a 500 horsepower engine. An engine that will spend all of its time idling in traffic, or in the very very unlikely event that I can drive fast at all, idling by the side of the road as the ever-more aggressive highway patrols write me expensive tickets, accompanied by idiotic morality tales about safety.
And the other car stuff is boring. Oh, I know we gotta have the hybreds and the electrics. It is for the good and economy of all, not to mention, green of all. But those cars are boring. You just can't read very far into an article about a Prius. So the cars are going to go too. We are driving less. We are driving less for the same reason we are flying less...because we don't like to do it anymore. We are so simple to figure out, if you take the time and trouble to study us...the people...the fabric of the culture. We work because we have to, and because we believe in work as a part of our foundation of worth. We play because we want to. We'll continue to drive the trucks and cars for work, and fly for work, but we won't do those things for fun anymore. Unless there is just no other way to get there, and then we may not go at all.

Domestic Violence laws are in desperate need of change on how abusers are prosecuted across the nation. Tougher laws need to be implemented and taken out of the States hands and be prosecuted on the Federal Level. Thus, making it tougher for the perpetrators of violence to plead down to lessor charges and the safety of all women and their children will be protected. Within this reform, child visitation and child custody will be change, as well, how protection orders are obtained and enforced. There are more women disappearing at the hands of their abuser’s and murdered. Abusive father’s gaining custody of their children with the carelessness of the courts blind eyes and not protecting the interests and safety of children, for fear of violating parental rights. Protection orders not being enforced and many violations are ignored because the lack of “proof”. This has to change.
Women’s Legal Resource Foundation will lobby for the Regan Martin Domestic Violence Reform Act commencing immediately. Please join Women’s Legal Resource in our crusade to change Domestic Violence Laws.

An astounding 2,300 Americans are reported missing every day, including both adults and children. But only a tiny fraction of those are stereotypical abductions or kidnappings by a stranger.
For example, the federal government counted 840,279 missing persons cases in 2001. All but about 50,000 were juveniles, classified as anyone younger than 18. In an article by David Krajicek on Tru TV reports, Slightly more than half—about 25,500—of the missing are men. About four out of 10 missing adults are white, three of 10 black and two of 10 Latino.
Among missing adults, about one-sixth have psychiatric problems. Young men, people with drug or alcohol addictions and elderly citizens suffering from dementia make up other significant subgroups of missing adults.
About half of the roughly 800,000 missing juvenile cases in 2001 involved runaways, and another 200,000 were classified as family abductions related to domestic or custody disputes.
Only about 100 missing-child reports each year fit the profile of a stereotypical abduction by a stranger or vague acquaintance.
Two-thirds of those victims are ages 12 to 17, and among those eight out of 10 are white females, according to a Justice Department study. Nearly 90 percent of the abductors are men, and they sexually assault their victims in half of the cases.
So where does this leave family members and friends of missing persons? Where do they go? Sure, there are support groups within local church organizations, social services and victims of crime organizations, but is that enough? What happens to those who can’t speak out about their loss? What happens to those who are hurt so much so, to get out of bed is a task in itself. The grief no one can imagine but the person feeling it. With missing persons, there is never closure, no finality until that person is found and often a lifetime goes by without a sound. Sitting by the phone dreading the day it rings with news but in your heart, you know they are not alive. How do you remember their face? How do you remember their voice, their dreams?
When I started Women’s Legal Resource, I focused on domestic violence, divorce and custody issues. Women go through much more at the hand of their abusers without being in court. More and more women each day are missing at the hands of their abusers. Women are no longer just beaten down, they are murdered and never to be found again. I met a woman by the name of Delilah. Delilah shared with me a story of a little girl who died in a car crash and was set to testify against the man who molested her. Becca McEvoy who endured a year of rape and sodomy at the hands of her step father, Bob Ingle, a police officer. This man was going to get away with this crime because now since in a court of law, you are entitled to face your accuser and since Becca McEvoy is no longer alive, no crime? Crawford vs Washington . The law is not black and white, nor is justice balanced.
I followed Delilah to her site Peace4 The Missing. I was in awe. I joined with no expectation but to be a resource of support, instead found a community of people helping one another in a very special way. Delilah and Maggie’s Rose are Co-founders of Peace4 The Missing, who found each other while on a blog for Stacy Peterson and who both held the same compassion to see Stacy’s safe return home. As I became more involved with Peace4 The Missing, I felt cared for, nothing like I have ever felt in a online-community before. This felt different, I felt safe and never did I feel preyed upon by nosy newbies butting in trying to force their opinion of how I should feel, like most other online communities do.
These ladies have created a network of love, support, hugs, buddies all with a will to let you know you are okay and that it’s okay to feel not okay. With little baby steps, new members speak of their pain, loss and fears and are always embraced with love, kindness and respect. Each member has a unique story to tell and are not always willing to tell it. With the more time you spend on Peace4 The Missing, the more you want to tell your story to be understood or to just let it out once a for all with hope to reach out to another member who is pain and needs a hug.
For example, it was Christmas time and for most people, not a very happy time of the year. I know for myself personally, I wish they would let Christmas fly by without notice. Delilah and Maggie’s Rose created the buddie system and each member was paired up with a member for the holiday. I found that to be a warm act of kindness. I was notified of my buddy and I sent emails of support and hugs. However, I was not a great buddy as I was sick more than present, but none the less I checked in to let them know I was there for them without feeling burdened or wanting to hide under the covers until Spring.
Peace4 The Missing has over 240 members and counting and has over 34 different and unique groups. If you have family member who is missing, you can post your photos, get advice on how to search for a missing person and other very valuable information you need in every state. If you are a victim of an unsolved homicide and need support, you will find it here and all with unconditional love. I am proud to be a member of this community, I have gained new friends who mean a great deal to me and I have a better understanding of what it’s like to feel the loss of someone missing something I never experienced before.
You can start your own blog, post events and conferences about Missing Persons and be rest assured the administrator will be there to protect you at all times. Be forewarned, this is not a community where you will be invisiable, you will picked to participate, either on the newsletter, or remembering someone’s birthday, this community helps you come out of your shell and to become pro-active and embraces you to be part of a very special family.
Joe Arapio, Ann Coulter and Charles Krauthammer. One is a woman, so my title is a bit off, but then, if you read, or listen to any of the three listed humans, accuracy is not their strong suit either. Let's see if I can encapsulate the transition of the neocons into some sort of re-homogenated Republican entity. The core values of this 'new' organziation would read something like this: Anything the Israeli's do is great. Anything. Unions are to be broken and dispersed, wherever and whenever they rise up. Anyone breaking a rule (they are always termed 'criminals' by this bunch) is to be tortured, imprisoned or even killed. After all, they broke a rule. And finally, nothing is to ever be given to the common man (or woman, they believe in total equality in this single area), or assistance extended, unless it is assistance provided to a wealthy overseer who can then 'trickle' something down. The wealthy overseer is always a fat white male, by the way.
There you have it. I have read my papers. I have poured over the op-eds. I have read about how the New York Times is in such trouble that they are going to start selling the front page of their paper for advertising. Hell, they have been doing that for years. They just did not call it that. This move, indeed, will move them up a notch in honesty. See, there is some good news! Caroline remains the lone contender for the Senate seat in New York. She will be one of those rare 'sympathy' appointments. You know, the kind that are usually made after someone we love dies. Like appointing the wife or the son to serve out the term. Caorline's is most richly deserved. And the other senators won't like her. I like that. She is a woman, and not one of those raging Tiger's of a woman (like Hilary, or Pelosi, and on and on and on), who will make believe she is a man, to fit in. No, Caroline is all woman. And very private. So private that she did not want to give out her financial background to the school district she worked for, even though that was the rule. Sheriff Joe Arapio, down there in Arizona, would have her slapped into a pink tent so fast her patrician nose would become a pug.
I did read the Tribune. The ever obnoxious Krauthammer was there in all his glory. The Trib is back! The Israeli's are so humane and caring of civilians, according to this closet freak, that they actually go way out of their way to alert and warn the people they are attacking. Only moments earlier, CNN had film of the Israeli army shelling the main city on the Gaza with 105mm artillery shells. Yes, plummeting those fifty pound, thinking and ever so caring, rounds down into residential neighborhoods. I am sure tht the family of that Hamas leader they killed in his home last week (with all of his women and kids) were well warned. This is like the proverbial robbery in a dark New York Alley, wherein the robber comes up to you (and who the hell is ever, ever, in a dark alley of New York at night?) and threatens you with a knife. You have nothing. After all, being as you are hanging about dark alleys in New York, he is the third robber in fifteen minutes to accost you! The robber says: "I want to alert you to the fact that I am pissed off, because you have nothing, and I am going to stab you right in the stomach." And then he does. You lay there, slowly bleeding out. The New York cops show up. After their first question: "what the hell were you thinking, being out here in a dark alley of New York at night?" they ask you what happened. You tell them. "I was stabbed by an Israeli." The cops, having read Krauthammer, would instantly understand. The report they would file, after your dead body was transported to the morgue, would conclude that you were properly stabbed, as you should not have been in the robber's alley at that hour, and that you were courageously and defensively attacked only after being humanely warned. Close file. Homeland security would get a blind copy, without the redacting of margin notes. Those notes would disclose the fact that you were wearing a 'Che' illustrated sweatshirt, and were most probably a terrorist.
The sun is out there and Harvey is bugging me to death. The driveway is a sheet of pure clear ice, half an inch thick, but both the cat and I have high hopes for this day. There are mice out there, under the snow and in the bracken. Harvey has sworn an oath to me, before we venture out there, that those stinking mice will receive a feline warning. In light of wjat is happening in the world, as it is reported to us here in Lake Geneva, that is sufficient.

Man-Made Disaster
by Jeffrey Rosen @ The New Republic - Post Date Wednesday, December 24, 2008
Six years on, the Department of Homeland Security is still a catastrophe.
Michael Chertoff needs an office. When I interviewed the secretary of Homeland Security this summer, we met in a pair of temporary locations between which he shuttles--first in the decaying Nebraska Avenue Complex of the naval station at Ward Circle (a center for signal analysis during World War II) and later in an unmarked and unfurnished office in the nondescript headquarters of U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the Ronald Reagan building, near the White House. Chertoff hasn't settled into an office partly because the six-year-old Department of Homeland Security (DHS) still has no permanent, consolidated headquarters. Instead, the unwieldy amalgam of 22 separate federal agencies operates out of 70 buildings at 40 different locations in the Washington area. And the lack of a real home is just the beginning of the department's bureaucratic problems. The most recent survey by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management on the job satisfaction of federal employees in 36 agencies ranked Homeland Security last or near last in every category. Meanwhile, officials from the Pentagon who have tried to do business with DHS complained to me of organizational chaos at the department. Homeland Security employees, they said, are often unaware of overlapping initiatives championed by their colleagues, and even by Chertoff himself...........

Cleaning Firm Used Illegal Workers at Chertoff Home
By Spencer S. Hsu
Every few weeks for nearly four years, the Secret Service screened the IDs of employees for a Maryland cleaning company before they entered the house of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, the nation's top immigration official.
The company's owner says the workers sailed through the checks -- although some of them turned out to be illegal immigrants.
Now, owner James D. Reid finds himself in a predicament that he considers especially confounding. In October, he was fined $22,880 after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigators said he failed to check identification and work documents and fill out required I-9 verification forms for employees, five of whom he said were part of crews sent to Chertoff's home and whom ICE told him to fire because they were undocumented.......

"I Am Not a Terrorist" "Prove It!"
The Department of Homeland Lunacy
By DAVE LINDORFF
I am not a terrorist.
How can I prove this in these paranoid times? Easy. The New York Department of Motor Vehicles took my $30 payment over the phone to clear what they said was a record of my NY drivers license having once been withdrawn, and informed the National Driver Register in Washington that I’m a good guy deserving of a renewal of my Pennsylvania drivers license.
Let me explain.
After 9-11, Congress and the Bush Department of Homeland Security went into overdrive passing things like the USA PATRIOT Act, the establishment of the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) to monitor air passengers and to develop lists of people to harass at air terminals, a network of black sites to detain and torture suspected terrorists, and more recently the National Driver Register, a federal data bank designed to link all drivers licenses and car registrations to a central computer system, and thus ferret out would be terrorists trying to create false identities courtesy of the state DMVs.
I, like uncounted tens of thousands of innocent Americans, ran afoul of this latest catch-a-terrorist system as my Pennsylvania drivers license, which I first obtained in 1997 when I moved from New York to Pennsylvania, came up for a third renewal. Several months ahead of my renewal date, I got a coldly worded and ominous letter from the Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicles saying my license could not be renewed because the new federal data base was reporting that my New York license had been “withdrawn” by the NY DMV......

"Sen. Joe Lieberman will keep his chairmanship of the Senate Homeland Security Committee despite hard feelings over his support for GOP nominee John McCain during the presidential campaign. The Connecticut independent will lose a minor panel post as punishment for criticizing Obama this fall.
Lieberman's colleagues in the Democratic caucus voted 42-13 Tuesday on a resolution condemning statements made by Lieberman during the campaign but allowing him to keep the Homeland Security Committee gavel. He loses an Environment and Public Works panel subcommittee chairmanship, however."
(Actually, he gave up his position on the Environmental and Public Works Committee altogether. However, Lieberman is also on the Armed Services Committee, where he chairs an important subcommittee.)
The article concludes with a statement made Friday by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who opposed the move.
"To reward Senator Lieberman with a major committee chairmanship would be a slap in the face of millions of Americans who worked tirelessly for Barack Obama and who want to see real change in our country. Appointing someone to a major post who led the opposition to everything we are fighting for is not 'change we can believe in."'
I discussed Lieberman's situation in my new blog, Keep Joe Lieberman, which has now achieved its purpose. By their actions, the Senate Democrats have shown that there’s hope for them yet!It is also important to note that Lieberman caucused with the Democrats as an Independent Democrat, so he was not obliged by this to support Obama, just as Bernie Sanders could have supported
I'm glad that Obama seeks to govern rather than to seek revenge. Too bad there are so many "Democrazies" out there who aren't getting the message.
I found this....
Before the Bush administration becomes a memory--a putrid, festering boil of a memory--it's important to self-assess your level of patriotism. Please take the quiz below.

The full Democratic Caucus is set to vote on Joe Lieberman's Chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee next week. Write to your Senators, or call them, today!
Here's what I sent to WA Senators Murray and Cantwell today:
Dear Senator Murray: First, thank you for visiting our Canvassing Kickoff with Howard Dean and Governor Gregoire on the Saturday before the Election!
I am writing, as a constituent from West Seattle, to beg you on bended knee to vote to remove Senator Joe Lieberman (Joe Lieberman for Joe Lieberman party, CT) from his chairmanship of the Homeland Security committee when the Democratic Caucus convenes next week to vote on this issue. While I'm sure you're receiving plenty of emails, letters, and phone calls from constituents urging Sen. Lieberman's ouster from his committee Chair assignment for more partisan reasons (and his broken promise that he would support Senator McCain's candidacy, but refrain from attacking Senator Obama, is certainly a breach of faith with the Party, the Caucus, and his own word), there's something just as important to consider, if not more so:
Joe Lieberman has been incredibly ineffectual in his role as chair of the Homeland Security committee - particularly when it comes to the role he, and the committee, were supposed to play in standing up to the shameful actions of the Bush White House during these past years. Unlike its much more effective and active counterpart in the House, the Committee, under Joe Lieberman, failed to challenge the Bush Administration on its failures and offenses on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the "war on terror", torture, Hurricane Katrina, and a host of other issues the Committee was charged to oversee and investigate. It could be argued that Joe Lieberman's inaction as head of the Committee enabled and shielded a whole laundry list of failures of the Bush Administration, resulting in countless wasted tax dollars - and lives.
But there's ample reason to be suspicious, given his past behavior patterns, that an embarrassed, embittered Joe Lieberman may abuse his Chairmanship to "go after" the Obama Administration in a way he abjectly failed to do under the Bush Administration.
While Joe Lieberman's personal and political conduct during the Presidential election of 2008 (and his campaigning in support of other Republican candidates to the House and Senate in the recent past) are shameful enough, it's his dereliction of duty, lack of leadership, and failure to fulfill his role as chair of his Committee that should be the primary rationale for stripping him of his Committee assignment.
Let Joe Lieberman continue to caucus with the Democrats if he so chooses. Offer him Chairmanship of a different Committee - something that Mr. "Agreed with us on everything but the War" can be trusted with. But he's been an embarrassingly ineffective Chair of the Homeland Security Committee, and has failed at his duties in that role.
It's time to give someone else a chance to do a better job. If I dared to exhibit such lackluster performance and failure at my job, I would have been fired a long time ago.
Please vote to strip Joe Lieberman of his Committee Chair assignment.

Keep Joe Lieberman
For those of you non-clickers, here is the first post.
Democrazies
Here is the petition you are urged to sign at http://liebermanmustgo.com/
"We CANNOT tolerate a leader of the Senate Democratic Caucus who supports George Bush and McCain's War in Iraq. We CANNOT tolerate a Democratic chairman of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee who endorses and stumps for McCain. We call on the Senate Democratic Steering Committee to strip Joe Lieberman of his chairmanship and his leadership role."
This is preceded by the statement:
"Demand the Steering Committee remove Joe Lieberman's position within the Democratic Caucus in 2009."
These people are so busy foaming at the mouth that they can't even write plain English. Do they want Lieberman removed from the Caucus entirely or just as chairman of Homeland Security. What is his "leadership role", other than his chairmanship." He is not on the Steering Committee, according to them.
As for the petition itself, it is laughable. These people are clearly living in the past. The election campaign is over. Obama is President-Elect. He says he will be president of all the people, which includes Lieberman and McCain. The latter even referred to him as “My president” in his concession speech.
So this group who “cannot tolerate…” is indeed intolerant. And hypocritical as well. They refer to “George Bush and McCain’s War.” Let’s see. Those voting for it included Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and John Edwards, among others. (But not my Senator, Carl Levin, to his everlasting credit.)
This group also wants to disenfranchise the people of Connecticut, who re-elected Lieberman (running as an "Independent Democrat") in 2006. They seem indifferent to the following facts.
I am going to simply add material here in this blog and in the Resource Website that I created, http://forteplan.com/obama so that people on the Campaign (including David Plouffe and Pete Rouse and several others) can make use of this.
Now what's so special about some of this stuff coming my way from various McCain-Palin supporters?
First of all, there is a lot of raw anger and hate in some, and I am sparing you those. All the same, I have been surprised by some, like the very nasty and vulgar, low-class response from someone not only working inside Dept. of Homeland Security but using his @dhs.gov email to broadcast negativity and partisan politics to others (in response to my polite essay).
Second, there are a lot of persons who are: professionals, educated, not the type that M-P and especially Sarah Palin try to pretend (convey, mislead, convince) are the main part of America, the main segment of the voting population. And they are saying very much the same thing, these people that have responded to my essays and letters on behalf of Obama+Biden And CHANGE. It is something you ought to know more about, in their actual words, in order that You can counter those arguments and hopefully convince some of the people who have allowed themselves to be fooled and deceived.
This constant type of response can be summed up as: We don't believe that Obama will be a good President, and we wil not believe, because we are Afraid, Afraid of someone and something that will do things that we don't understand, and maybe the right-wingers are right, and he will (create a socialist-communist, give all the power to black people, let in millions of illegal immigrants, etc., etc., etc.). Their Main Motivation to being Against Obama is Fear of the Unknown.
And you know what? That is at the root of the racism, the ethnocentricity, the xenophobia, the religious fundamentalism, the extreme-nationalism all of that which drives people to love to give up their power and rights to despots and totalitarian authority figures and regimes.
Read through parts of the book, "The Authoritarians" which is online and in http://forteplan.com/obama/documents. It is by Robert Altemeyer, a professor of psychology at the University of Manitoba in Canada. You will understand the McCain-Palin supporter much better.

... and Nuclear Threats
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCPH4p-Zp1Q
----With the hope that my new president will advocate an integrated approach to Foreign Policy that has the goal of securing, dismantling, and eliminating nuclear materials around the world. That the US concept of Homeland Security might evolve from nearly ten years of reactionary and frantic international "policing," including incarceration, punishment, torture, and clandestine investigation... and begin to emphasize diplomatic solutions and the widespread commitment to shared international goals.
I grew up in the Twin Cities, a prosperous and bucolic community hard on the banks of the Mississippi, the last major metropolitan area until you Lewis-and-Clark yourself over the Rockies.
Minneapolis and St. Paul are filled with wide, tree-lined streets, good schools, close-knit families, a welcoming spirit, pride in a deep civic commitment, home of the Guthrie Theatre and Walker Art Centre, and a keen, congenital sense of justice and equality. It’s a place where even wealthy, fourth and fifth generation families like the Dayton’s (Target), the Rawlings’ (General Mills), the Pillsbury’s (of Dough Boy fame, tee-hee), the McKnight’s (3M) and the Hill’s (19th century railroad tycoons) still believe in and practice a gentle, Midwestern kind of mild social democracy. Example: Most CEOs of Fortune 100 companies based here actually drive themselves to work, often parking in the lot alongside cars belonging to the woman who brings the mail around or the guy working in the cafeteria line. About the only time you see limo’s crawling the streets is prom night or for a funeral.
After all, the characters and settings in Garrison Keillor’s Lake Woebegon stories are based on his life growing up in a working class suburb of the Twin Cities. There is more truth than fiction in his recounting of the goings-on of the three Norwegian bachelor farmers, the Buttermilk Biscuit Co., and all the other good folks he turned into cultural icons.
I haven’t lived in either Minneapolis or St. Paul for nearly 20 years, and last visited when my sister died in 1999, but I’ve always thought warmly of my hometown. So I was astonished when e-mails began trickling in during the week from confused, frightened and oft-times angry friends and acquaintances back home. They wrote chilling accounts of police conducting wholesale, warrantless raids on people whose only crime is that the Secret Service and Dept. of Homeland (In)Security, aided by local police goon squads dressed in riot gear, thought they might, possibly, somewhere, somehow, exercise their 1st Amendment right to protest during the Republican National Convention.
The first inkling of what was unfolding came late Thursday morning from Nancy, my fifth grade love who grew up to become a physician and soccer mom in an upper-upper middle class suburb called Edina – a place so conservative and rich I suspect there’s a local ordinance requiring residents to vote Republican before being allowed to move in:
There’s a story this ayem about St Paul police raiding a home and arresting people who were going to protest at the convention. OK, so you know me: I voted for Bush twice and I’m no lefty loonie. But this scares me. According to ‘CCO radio, police in riot gear raided a house early this morning, arresting nine people who said they were in town to protest at the convention. But they were charged with … are you ready? … having too many people live in a residential home! What the hell?
By mid-afternoon, I’d heard from two more friends.
Mike, who has three teen-aged kids and owns a store in a mixed St. Paul neighborhood, wrote, “I don’t know what’s going on but unmarked cop cars with sirens screaming are chasing all over hell and back.” Almost simultaneously, an e-mail arrived from Ivar, a playwright, declaring, “Jesus Christ! A bunch of cops dressed like the Road Warrior just broke into a home down the street and hauled out a bunch of people in handcuffs and hoods. As they were being thrown into police vehicles, cops arrested a guy across the street taking a home video of the bust. My street looks like Burma.” He meant Myanmar but Ivar’s showing his age these days like the rest of us boomers.
By Saturday, the trickle of messages became a torrent.
To verify what friends were writing, I called the St. Paul Mayor’s Office (615.266.8510) where I was directed to the police (651.291.1111). A PR woman for the cops said I had to talk to the Secret Service (612.348.1800), which refused to answer any questions but asked for the spelling of my name before telling me to call Homeland Security (202.282.8000) where repeated calls were not returned. I tracked down a cell phone number of someone in the St. Paul convention office of the Republican National Committee where the man who answered claimed to have no idea what I was talking about, helpfully suggesting I call the police before suddenly asking how I got the number. Ring around the rosy.
It was like trying to get an answer from Dick Cheney’s office. Translation: The e-mails were accurate.
The unending barrage has continued all weekend.
From Carrie, a late 50-something who still lives in a mostly-student district near the University of Minnesota: “I saw 25 officers barge into a house wearing masks and black swat gear. They had large semi-automatic rifles. After, somebody told me the pigs (I haven’t used that word for decades) ordered everyone on the floor. Rifles pointing at their heads, they were handcuffed and ordered not to move. The cops refused to show a search warrant. They were forced to remain on the floor for 45 minutes while the officers took away computers and political stuff kept in the house.”
From Rick: “Remember Summit Avenue? Mansions, clubs, cronies, old money? A few blocks away from the Governor’s Mansion, the police just burst into a house looking for ‘photographs and maps of St. Paul.’ Shit! I have photos and maps of St. Paul! Better throw ‘em out or I’ll be next.”
From Robyn and Brent, two independents who decided this morning to vote straight a Democratic ticket: “Never thought we’d see this in America. Enya (their adopted teenage daughter) and a bunch of her friends from school were taking pictures of the convention center this morning when cops grabbed and handcuffed them, shoved them into a squad car and threatened them with arrest if they didn’t hand over the digital camera they were using to take tourist photos! She’s hysterical and we called (their lawyer). Obama and Franken just got two more votes and by the time this is over Enya’s college will be paid for with a large check from the city. Assholes.”
And so it goes.
Bucolic Lake Woebegon has turned itself into a brutal police state, intent on arresting everyone including the three Norwegian bachelor farmers, just in case. Apparently, civil liberties and the Bill of Rights got tossed into the Mississippi mud like the remains of the once-great bridge that used to span the river.
Oh, wait. We're talking about the party of George Bush, who once said of the Constitution, "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!" Guess I - along with people back in the Twin Cities - shouldn't be surprised.

Islamic Fascism 101, On all they’ve done to earn the name. Make no apologies for the use of “Islamic fascism.” It is the perfect nomenclature for the agenda of radical Islam, for a variety of historical and scholarly reasons. That such usage also causes extreme embarrassment to both the Islamists themselves and their leftist “anti-fascist” appeasers in the West is just too bad. http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=OGEyNjcyNzBjYTQ2MDM0ZGIzZjY5YjhhMzViYjdjNTA

Defending 'Islamofascist' What I like the best about the term Islamofascism is that it calls a spade a spade. It's not some wishy-washy euphemism. It pinpoints and accurately describes this century's greatest threat to humanity. It combines intolerant religious zealotry, that's the "Islamo" part, with ruthless totalitarianism, that's the "fascist" part. Islamofascism is a radical subset of Islam. Just as Earth First! terrorists are a radical subset of environmentalists. Not all Muslims are Islamofascists, but all Islamofascists are Muslims. Al-Qaida is Islamofascist, as are the Taliban and the extremist Wahhabi sect. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/opinion_columnists/article/0,2777,DRMN_23972_5011681,00.html.

Islamofascism similarly pursues its aims through the willful, arbitrary, and gratuitous disruption of global society, either by terrorist conspiracies or by violation of peace between states. Al Qaeda has recourse to the former weapon; Hezbollah, in assaulting northern Israel, used the latter. These are not acts of protest, but calculated strategies for political advantage through undiluted violence. Hezbollah showed fascist methods both in its kidnapping of Israeli soldiers and in initiating that action without any consideration for the Lebanese government of which it was a member. Indeed, Lebanese democracy is a greater enemy of Hezbollah than Israel.http://www.damianpenny.com/archived/007373.html

Islamic radicals, like Hitler, cultivate support by nurturing grievances against others. Islamists, like Hitler, scapegoat Jews for their problems and want to destroy them. Islamists, Hitler divided the world into Aryans and subhuman non-Aryans, while Islamists divide the world into Muslims and sub-human infidels. Nazis aimed for their Thousand-Year Reich, while Islamists aim for their eternal Caliphate. The Nazi party used terror to achieve power, and from London to Amsterdam, Bali to New York, Egypt to Turkey, Islamists are trying to do the same. The two fascisms, one racial and one religious, one beaten and the other resurgent, are evil in both their ideology and their methodology, in their supremacism, intolerance, belief in violence and threat to democracyhttp://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/guest_contributors/article550184.ece
...the United States can't win this war alone. We can do damage to the enemy. We can take the philosophical high ground and remind people of the importance of how freedom can change societies. But we will work with allies and friends to achieve this objective. And part of the challenge in the 21st century is to remind people about the stakes, and remind people that in moments of quiet, there's still an Islamic fascist group plotting, planning and trying to spread their ideology. And one of the things that -- one of the things that came out of this unfortunate incident in the Middle East is it is a stark reminder that there are those who want to stop the advance of liberty and destabilize young democracies. And they're willing to kill people to do so. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/08/20060807.html
...about the term, Islamo-fascism [...] listen to what Osama bin Laden has said. He has said that his envisions an "Islamic nation," to reestablish the caliphate -- I don't know if it would still be headquartered in Baghdad, but if you want your pristine historic analogy, that's where it would be, and it would extend from Asia all the way back to Spain, because memories are still raw about 1492 when the Moors were expelled from Andalusia. That's what he's talking about. So in that sense, what you end up having is strict centralized government under repressive conditions, the likes of which we saw with the Taliban. If you look at the interpretation of sharia law that has been championed by bin Laden and others, it fits all of the descriptions you've had. And if you talk about an unbroken government using those kinds of regulations over an extended landmass, which is what he's talking about, that it does fit the description.http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/09/20060913-3.html
Said Amir Arjomand [1986]: Like fascism, the Islamic revolutionary movement has offered a new synthesis of the political creeds it has violently attacked. And, like the fascists, the Islamic militants are against democracy because they consider liberal democracy a foreign model that provides avenues for free expression of alien influences and ideas. (Also like the fascists, however, the Islamic militants would not necessarily accept the label of "antidemocratic.")http://links.jstor.org/sici?sici=0043-8871(198604)38%3A3%3C383%3AIIRICP%3E2.0.CO%3B2-D

The Meaning of 'Islamofascism'... ‘Islamofascism’. That conflates (sic) all the elements into one image: suicide bombs, kidnappings, and the Qur’an; the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan; Iranian clerics and Hitler … Unlike CAIR, many Arab liberal and reformist writers, have supported such an analogy. A Saudi columnist, Muhammad bin ‘Abd Al-Latif Aal Al-Sheikh, published a series of articles in the Saudi daily Al-Jazirah in July, attacking the ideology of the Al-Salafiyya movement (long associated with Saudi Wahhabi Islam). He said that the ideology of this movement was similar to, or even worse than, the Nazi ideology, and that it should be dealt accordingly. Mr. Al-Sheikh cited the conference on “de-Nazification” held in Potsdam, Germany, shortly following Nazi Germany’s surrender in 1945 to serve as precedence today. He explained it was credited with uprooting the culture of Nazism from Europe and that the conference made Nazism into something similar to a crime, not just in judicial and political terms, but also in terms of culture, ideology, and the media. Just as the world uprooted Nazism at the Potsdam conference, Al-Sheikh explained that the West should follow suit with Islamism after the attacks of September 11, 2001: “I still believe that one of the primary missions of the international community today is to repeat its experience with Nazism and to deal with this dangerous barbarian culture [of Islamofascism] exactly as it dealt with the Nazi culture. If this does not happen, the near future is liable to bring many [events], the consequences of which will be far more severe for all of humanity than [the consequences] of World War II.” A columnist for the London Arabic daily Al-Hayat, Zuheir Abdullah, blamed what he termed “Arab fascism”and “Islamism”for leading to the current backwardness of the Middle East. In an August 2003 article he wrote, “since 1948, primitive Arab fascism,” sometimes “allied with fundamentalist Islam,” has produced only “empty slogans.” Mr. Abdullah continued, “many simple-minded people and ignorant persons were unfortunately brainwashed and turned into the fuel of this extremism.” He concluded by stating the Arab world’s embrace of fascism and Islamism has led it to adding “almost nothing” to modern civilization.http://www.nysun.com/article/33302

Defending the term "Islamofascism." - By Christopher Hitchens [0ct. 2007]The term Islamofascism was first used in 1990 in Britain's Independent newspaper by Scottish writer Malise Ruthven, who was writing about the way in which traditional Arab dictatorships used religious appeals in order to stay in power. I didn't know about this when I employed the term "fascism with an Islamic face" to describe the attack on civil society on Sept. 11, 2001, and to ridicule those who presented the attack as some kind of liberation theology in action. "Fascism with an Islamic face" is meant to summon a dual echo of both Alexander Dubcek and Susan Sontag (if I do say so myself), and in any case, it can't be used for everyday polemical purposes, so the question remains: Does Bin Ladenism or Salafism or whatever we agree to call it have anything in common with fascism? I think yes. The most obvious points of comparison would be these: Both movements are based on a cult of murderous violence that exalts death and destruction and despises the life of the mind. ("Death to the intellect! Long live death!" as Gen. Francisco Franco's sidekick Gonzalo Queipo de Llano so pithily phrased it.) Both are hostile to modernity (except when it comes to the pursuit of weapons), and both are bitterly nostalgic for past empires and lost glories. Both are obsessed with real and imagined "humiliations" and thirsty for revenge. Both are chronically infected with the toxin of anti-Jewish paranoia (interestingly, also, with its milder cousin, anti-Freemason paranoia). Both are inclined to leader worship and to the exclusive stress on the power of one great book. Both have a strong commitment to sexual repression—especially to the repression of any sexual "deviance"—and to its counterparts the subordination of the female and contempt for the feminine. Both despise art and literature as symptoms of degeneracy and decadence; both burn books and destroy museums and treasures. Fascism (and Nazism) also attempted to counterfeit the then-success of the socialist movement by issuing pseudo-socialist and populist appeals. It has been very interesting to observe lately the way in which al-Qaida has been striving to counterfeit and recycle the propaganda of the anti-globalist and green movements. (See my column on Osama Bin Laden's Sept. 11 statement.) There isn't a perfect congruence. Historically, fascism laid great emphasis on glorifying the nation-state and the corporate structure. There isn't much of a corporate structure in the Muslim world, where the conditions often approximate more nearly to feudalism than capitalism, but Bin Laden's own business conglomerate is, among other things, a rogue multinational corporation with some links to finance-capital. As to the nation-state, al-Qaida's demand is that countries like Iraq and Saudi Arabia be dissolved into one great revived caliphate, but doesn't this have points of resemblance with the mad scheme of a "Greater Germany" or with Mussolini's fantasy of a revived Roman empire? Technically, no form of Islam preaches racial superiority or proposes a master race. But in practice, Islamic fanatics operate a fascistic concept of the "pure" and the "exclusive" over the unclean and the kufar or profane. In the propaganda against Hinduism and India, for example, there can be seen something very like bigotry. In the attitude to Jews, it is clear that an inferior or unclean race is being talked about (which is why many Muslim extremists like the grand mufti of Jerusalem gravitated to Hitler's side). In the attempted destruction of the Hazara people of Afghanistan, who are ethnically Persian as well as religiously Shiite, there was also a strong suggestion of "cleansing." And, of course, Bin Laden has threatened force against U.N. peacekeepers who might dare interrupt the race-murder campaign against African Muslims that is being carried out by his pious Sudanese friends in Darfur. http://www.slate.com/id/2176389/
Islamo-Fascism Denial [Oct. 23 07] There is nothing artful or contrived in the term "Islamo-Fascism." It is derived from history itself. Hassan al Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood (from which today's radical Muslim groups descend) was, after all, an open admirer and supporter of Adolf Hitler -- as was the principal theorist of the modern jihad, Sayyid Qutb. During World War II, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, cousin of Yasir Arafat and spiritual godfather of Palestinian nationalism, Hajj Amin al-Husseini, prouncounced his pro-Nazi sympathies openly and proudly. In May 1941, he issued a fatwa calling upon the Germans to bomb Tel Aviv, and in November 1941 traveled to Berlin and met with Hitler. He implored the Nazi dictator to help implement a Final Solution in the Middle East. Then he went to the Balkans, where he spearheaded the creation of Muslim units of the Waffen SS. In terms of the specific terrorist groups and entities mentioned in the MSA packet, all of them -- along with many others -- have indeed made clear that they wish to destroy the United States and dominate the world under an oppressive caliphate -- that is, a unified Islamic state ruled by Islamic Sharia law: Al-Qaeda: Osama bin Laden has said that the 9/11 attacks strengthened the Muslims, "which is a very good sign and a great step towards the unity of Muslims and establishing the Righteous Islamic Khilafah [caliphate] insha-Allah [Allah willing]." His second-in-command, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, has declared: "The war with Israel is not about a treaty, a cease-fire agreement, Sykes-Picot borders, national zeal, or disputed borders. It is rather a jihad for the sake of God until the religion of God is established. It is jihad for the liberation of Palestine, all Palestine, as well as every land that was a home for Islam, from Andalusia to Iraq. The whole world is an open field for us." Hamas: The Hamas Charter sets out its Islamic mission as global: "Its spatial dimension extends wherever on earth there are Muslims, who adopt Islam as their way of life; thus, it penetrates to the deepest reaches of the land and to the highest spheres of Heavens. . . . By virtue of the distribution of Muslims, who pursue the cause of the Hamas, all over the globe, and strive for its victory, for the reinforcement of its positions and for the encouragement of its Jihad, the Movement is a universal one." Universal in what way? The Palestinian Sheikh Ibrahim Madhi exhorted believers in 2002 "Oh beloved, look to the East of the earth, find Japan and the ocean; look to the West of the earth, find [some] country and the ocean. Be assured that these will be owned by the Muslim nation, as the Hadith says . . . 'from the ocean to the ocean.'" The Muslim Brotherhood: Its founder, Hasan Al-Banna, wrote that "it is a duty incumbent on every Muslim to struggle towards the aim of making every people Muslim and the whole world Islamic, so that the banner of Islam can flutter over the earth and the call of the Muezzin can resound in all the corners of the world: God is greatest [Allahu akbar]!" Despite recent claims to the contrary, there is no evidence that the Brotherhood has renounced this goal. Hezbollah: Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has made clear that he wishes to pose a threat to the United States: "Let the entire world hear me. Our hostility to the Great Satan is absolute.…I conclude my speech with the slogan that will continue to reverberate on all occasions so that nobody will think that we have weakened. Regardless of how the world has changed after 11 September, Death to America will remain our reverberating and powerful slogan: Death to America." The Islamic Republic of Iran: While as a Shi'ite he does not wish to see the establishment of a caliphate, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad harbors similar dreams of Islamic domination. He said in 2005: "we will soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism and will breathe in the brilliant time of Islamic sovereignty over today's world." And in terms of Saddam Hussein, suffice it to say that there was a reason he trained thousands of Islamic jihad terrorists from all over the Middle East at camps in Iraq over the four years preceding the U.S. invasion. http://www.aina.org/news/2007102311299.htm
Islam and Islamofascism [Nov. 07]http://www.globalpolitician.com/articledes.asp?ID=3689&cid=11&sid=109
Why 'Islamofascism' correctly identifies threat [Oct. 25 07] Islamofascism is an ideology that seeks a global theocracy under the dictatorship of a caliph. Everyone will be converted to their extremist interpretation of Islam, and any one who resists will be killed in the name of Allah. These extremists, however, do not represent the basic beliefs of Islam, and their message and methods resemble Nazis more than Muslims. Their goals are almost a mirror image of Hitler's dreams of world domination and extermination of the Jews, except their justification claims to be rooted in Islam rather than German nationalism. How is "Islamofascism" a racist term? It isn't. The term has nothing to do with the ethnicity of our enemy, nor should it. The term is a fusion of Islam - which is a religion and not a race - and fascism. Most of the terrorists are ethnically Arabic, but the membership of al-Qaida and similar networks is not exclusively Arabic. The focus of the word is fascism, which is used to describe the terrorists' methods and goals. How does the phrase "militant fundamentalist Muslims" more accurately describe who we are fighting? It doesn't. Our enemy is indeed militant and claims to be Muslim, but their breed of Islam is not fundamentalist. The fundamentals of Islam are faith, worship, charity, sacrifice and pilgrimage. Islamofacism has interpreted Islam as not only a religion but an entire political and economic system as well. They have twisted the meaning of holy war into a tangible fight against infidels when the concept of jihad is supposed to be an internalized battle within the human conscience. http://media.www.lsureveille.com/media/storage/paper868/news/2007/10/25/Opinion/Why-islamofascism.Correctly.Identifies.Threat-3059132.shtml

Islamofascism: Why It Is Fascism and Why Hating It Isn't Racist [Dec. 2007] Islam is not a race. Even its harshest critics, if they limit their criticism to doctrine and to those only who follow it, are not to be labeled bigoted or racist. Religion is an idea, a belief system not immune from mockery or even detestation, and abhorrence for it is perfectly ethical (and legal, at least in this country). Succumbing to political correctness would have me now declaring impartiality for all the monotheisms, claiming an equality for each theology. I am all for equal-time ridicule, but not today. So let me be clear. There is very little about the Islamic faith, in particular, that I find believable or inspirational. The given-at-birth compulsory submission to a deity –– as its translation boasts –– is not my bag. An illiterate businessman-turned-general talking to angels and going on fantastical night journeys across the sky, taking six-year-olds as his wife, invading and converting large portions of planet, insisting his word alone is the final and unalterable directive of the divine… None of this makes me want to humble myself, get on my knees, and bow my head. I look at the life of Muhammad –– the pedophilia, the megalomania, the conquests –– and see John Mark Karr with an army. But my contempt for this theological arrogance does not render a hatred for, or suspicion of, Muslims as individuals or as a people; nor will it, nor should it. I have a fair amount of Muslim friends, some of them very good friends, and, in the mold of Dr. King’s litmus test, I judge them, like everyone else, based upon the content of their character –– not their genetic makeup. This is not racism anymore than disdain for Marxism is racism; anymore than abstract anticommunism undermines the concreteness of a beautiful Cuban girl, or the sincerity of a Russian acquaintance, for instance. Those on campus who were wearing green to protest the original protesting of fascism should at least forfeit to irony: the green they don takes us back the “green shirts” of Haj Amin al Husseini, the Palestinian mufti and long time Hitler companion and proxy, as well as the Nazi-admiring Hassan al Banna, brown-shirt wannabe and founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. The lack of study into the fascist origins of contemporary Middle Eastern movements is just another sad example of Western self-loathing and academic indifference, but thankfully we have colleagues like Ryan Mauro to shed some light for us. How quickly we forget that Mussolini, for example, was admiringly called Musa Nili across the Arab world. Who remembers the Waffen SS hit-squads that armed the warriors of Grand Mufti Husseini –– plush with Third Reich subsidies –– to liquefy anti-Nazi citizens of the Baltic? Did your last professor point out that the predecessors of al Qaida –– who Hitler called his Gebirgsjäger Muslim killers –– slaughtered 100,000 innocents by 1943? It continues: Nazi agent General Khairallah Tulfah would go on to raise and mentor his Tikriti village nephew, Saddam Hussein. Future Egyptian presidents Nasser and Sadat –– supposed secularists –– mingled with the Brotherhood, which in turn spawned Egyptian Islamic Jihad, cradle of al Qaida linchpin Dr. al Zawahiri. (Nasser would later rely on ex-Gestapo goon Joachim Daumling to craft his own secret police force.) Hitler’s propagandist Johannes von Leers would flee postwar Germany, change his name to Omar Amin, and become a lead official in Egypt’s information ministry, just as Sami al Joundi of the Syrian Ba’ath would brag, “We admired the Nazis. We were immersed in Nazi literature… we were the first who thought of a translation of Mein Kempf.” (Eichmann aide Alois Brunner would also assist the Assads in Damascus.) I could go on, but must I really? When defending the label of fascist, however, none of this fascist-entrenched history really matters. The premise of subservience to a celestial dominion and the coerced obedience to the earthly holy men who implement this dominion is enough: it’s Islamic and it’s fascistic. It is a creed that seeks to control what you think, say, hear, read, eat and drink; who you talk to, who you befriend, and who you hold hands with. This is the root basis of totalitarianism and it’s all in your God-given Qur’an. Societies, cultures, and peoples can most certainly change, but self-described infallible doctrine cannot. It was not designed to reform. Its divinity and irreversibility is the reason for its existence. There used to be a proud secular tradition of liberal antifascism, but the veneer of multiculturalism and relativism has prodded such thinkers into a state of fear. Many are afraid to come across as intolerant of intolerance, lest they seem as if they are asserting political supremacy or cultural superiority. This is why Western operas have been canceled, why cartoons have been taken out of circulation, why movies have been taken off air, and why journalists and authors with prices on their heads are in hiding all across Europe –– all products of a free and wonderfully crude culture under threat from book-burning mullahs. But there is good news. You do not have to oblige yourself into justifying deplorable atrocities in the name of “understanding.” You do not have to defend the apocalyptic Haghani Circle of Iran, or the Salafist lecturers in Pakistan, or the Wahhabi royal family. You do not have to applaud the “transparency” of the Iranian committee entitled the “Council for Spreading Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s Thoughts.” When Hina Saleem’s father cuts her throat, buries her in the yard, and faces her head towards Mecca before rigamortis sets in –– for the sin of loving an Italian man –– and most of the Islamic organizations in Europe (from the Union of Islamic Communities in Italy to the Islamic Cultural Association in Brescia) defend the murderer, not the victim, you do not have to conscript yourself into appreciating or defending this insanity. You’re allowed to hate it. Not all hate is improper. My hatred of the fascistic impulses of archaic shari’a law stems not from ignorance of “the other,” but from knowledge. The more I learn, the more that is revealed, the stiffer my backbone becomes and the more I come to despise. This hatred is fine, as its converse would be immoral indifference. http://www.analyst-network.com/article.php?art_id=1359

Militant Islam 101: a history - In the wake of the Iraq War, there has been much Monday morning quarter backing by America's weak offensive line (liberals) who insist the “War on Terror” is to be waged only against Osuma bin ladens al Qaeda. This essay is to make the connection of pan-Islamo Fascism and its long terrorism history. As the democratic world confronts al Qeada's Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hezbollah 's Hassan Nasrallah, and their followers, many among us are trying to understand militant Islam, where it came from and its aims. The following background material is designed to give an overview of the phenomenon that has been called "militant Islam," "fundamentalist Islam," “Islamo Fascism” “Islamism,” or "radical Islam." Testbook Terrorism Islamofascism: [7/24/2008] A new study confirms our “ally” Saudi Arabia is still poisoning young Muslim minds with anti-Western textbooks. So? Its hate-filled graduates are enrolling at our colleges. …despite promised reforms, the kingdom still teaches students to “hate the infidels.” The texts assert that it’s “permissible” for a Muslim to kill an “apostate,” an “adulterer,” a “homosexual,” as well as non-Muslims practicing “polytheism,” or Christianity. The violent ideology is introduced in a religion textbook in the first grade and reinforced and developed in following years of the public education system, culminating in the 12th grade…including to 19 academies founded by the Saudi ministry and chaired by local Saudi ambassadors in or near major foreign cities. Quotes from the latest textbooks Riyadh is propagating include: • “The Jews and Christians are enemies of the believers.” • “Only through force and victory over the enemies is there security and repose. • ”The apes are Jews, the people of the Sabbath; while the swine are Christians, the infidels of the communion of Jesus.” The Saudi ministry has not removed these messages from its school texts…http://www.investors.com/editorial/editorialcontent.asp?secid=1501&status=article&id=301792048827503
The truth about Islamofascism [2008]Coffee break: Kanchan Gupta...40 per cent want shari'ah in Britain for Muslims; 33 per cent favour a worldwide Islamic caliphate; 24 per cent think men and women are not equal; 32 per cent believe killing in the name of religion is justified; 33 per cent don't think Islam is compatible with democracy...The reason for this digression is not to provide an insight into the warped mindset of those who believe 'Islam is the solution' -- much as Adolf Hitler thought he had found the 'final solution' to rid the world of Jews and Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad thinks god has willed him to complete Hitler's unfinished task -- but to highlight the danger posed by those who see nothing wrong with the fringe increasingly occupying the centre. The lib-left intelligentsia, whose criminal disregard of facts and aggressive peddling of fiction often persuades ill-informed and ill-intentioned journalists to suppress the truth, wants society to be tolerant of Islamofascism; to indulge the Muslim cult of denial; and, to gloss over incidents like serial bombings and suicide attacks. Those who refuse to do so are accused of Islamophobia...http://www.dailypioneer.com/agenda1.asp?main_variable=sundaypioneer%2Fdialogue&file_name=dial1.txt&counter_img=1

The following are some of the recent showing in US media, where up to now it was a taboo, so not to offend some Muslims it's called "Politically correctness", as Brigitte Gabrielle said this PC is killing us... on Glenn Becks's special called "Radical Islam Extremist agenda". You can see how they compare their tactics to the nazis of WW2, (No, not the exaggerated slogans anyone throws in a political discurse, but) real fascism.
They show there the Wahabbi Saudi Arabian evil textbooks that are being spread into the US calling Christians and Jews "apes and pigs" (as if it's not enough that their Quran says that, they stress it out to adhere to in real life...).
Another Arab speaking out is M. Darwish that laments on how the Islamic adults brainwash the toddlers with so much hatred and glorifying mass murder in the name of Islam.
Finally he has the segment of the few rare moderates, like the Nevada's Islamic group that is moderate and speaks out against it so do some cleric in Kuwait that regret the CULT of DEATH, "not giving the value of life to our kids"...
