On more, let me begin by thanking the majority of Americans that have blatantly refused to loose hope in the country’s ability and capacity to become a welcome entity to hope and change as enunciated and articulated by Senator Obama. Furthermore, I want to personally express my sincere gratitude for the compassionate, loving, respectful and supportive inclinations of Americans and the people of the world for their relentless support of Obama and their candidly objective, pragmatic and positive appraisal of his ideologies, convictions and manifesto.
It is so sad to see the Clinton’s and McCain’s of this world exploit every word from Sen. Obama in an attempt to sow the seed of discord between his laudable and by far people oriented agenda and the same Americans that the movement for hope and change in America is fighting hard for. May be I might be wrong; are Senators McCain and Clinton on the same axis or political party? What do these two senators have in common whenever Obama is the issues at stake?
What is democracy in the first place? Without much ado, it is the government of the people, wholly elected by the people and such a government must be for the people and above all be accountable, responsible and transparent to the people! How has the campaigns and representation of Senators Clinton and McCain adhere to this very simple explanation?
It is without doubt that McCain and Clinton have had a campaign that have been more or less exclusively run by the privileged, influential, lobbyists and special interest and yet, I am ironically and astonishingly hearing both of these senators accusing Sen. Obama of running a movement based on elitism. This argument is not only ridiculous, but is wholly tantamount to fabrication of the highest order. For everyone information, a lot of us are not elite, and yet we account for over 85% of the movement for hope and change in the United States of America donors! Can the same be said of both Clinton (the Colombia, Saudi and other latent connection) and McCain?
It is already evident that the Clintons have this mediocre conviction that Hilary is entitled to the presidency of the United States of America, and may be in the near future, Chelsea may join that rank and file of the same argument. What are the people of the country to do? Probably seat back and accept the argument and the unethical demand without questioning its rational and the benefit the country stands to loose of gain?
I entered the Rochester office on Main Street just as Marade, an elementary school principal and frequent volunteer, returned from canvassing.
“It sounds like parade, except with an ‘M,’” she explained with a smile as we shook hands.
Marade is working on her first presidential campaign, motivated by her desire to move past the politics of fear she believes has gripped the nation since the attacks of September 11th. The attacks left a deep impact on her family’s life, as her sister’s fiancée died only 3 weeks before their wedding.
“While our family suffered a huge loss on 9/11, this administration has capitalized on the fear and uncertainty that followed to justify a radical agenda,” she said.
Marade added:
I really believe that Obama offers the greatest hope and opportunity for real change. He accentuates the positive and focuses on the things that unite us in this country… We have been living with fear for too long, and he can move the country past this and unite us around a common agenda.
I also spoke with Kyle, a 19-year old college sophomore, who is volunteering full-time. Majoring in international comparative politics, Kyle agreed with Marade’s desire to move the country past the fear-based politics of the past decade.
“Barack willingness to speak to our enemies demonstrated that he isn’t deterred by the politics of fear stoked by the Bush administration,” he said.
As I sat down to write this, I noticed 3 goldfish swimming around in a bowl at the end of the desk—the first office mascots I’ve encountered in my travels across the state.
Visit the Rochester office at 20 N. Main Street to make calls, canvass, and feed the official Obama goldfish, or give us a call at 603-330-0808.
Next stop: Dover.
