Hey, just because Im young does not mean I do not understand and unfortunately see the world of today in all its corrupted and selfish shame.
Many people are and have been ignorant and greedy, and our world, our planet is suffering for it. I have seen a lot of cowardly and unfair shit in my 17 years already. Its all about the money, isnt it? Well guess what? Theres more to life than money. I hear that many people of America are complaining against the New Health Insurance Proposal and im a little shocked as to why? I may be British, but Im not stupid and I take pride in NOT being ignorant.
Im aware of the political and global 'goings-on' in the world; and I think more people should be. There are many people who do not know who their own President/Priminister is, which is quite shocking, mostly because they CHOOSE not to care. This health insurance issue IS IMPORTANT.
Just because other less fortunate people cannot afford insurance DOES NOT mean they should suffer. How can anyone, regardless or their beliefs or backgrounds stand up and admit that they believe this. My mother is quite ill at the moment and will be having an operation in October. If we had no health insurance, we would not be able to afford it, and her illness may turn terminal.
They are far worse cases out there but i have offered you a personal example. People need to realise that money and looks or whatever only get you so far, but whats in lack of supply at the moment is common sense, honesty, compassion and generosity.
All I can say to those that are lacking is this:
Sort your life out you disgraceful excuse for a human being. >:( !!!!!
Did everyone call their local Representatives yet? If not, get on the stick! We all worked hard to get Barack elected; votin' for him isn't enough in today's world. We are MORE than obligated to do more than sit on that vote!
We must, as vocally as possible, SUPPORT THE VISION for which we voted! And if that means using some cell phone minutes, so be it!
Barack is speaking right now "across the pond", as they say! Strange to see an "American Style Town Hall Meeting" taking place in a foreign country.

Barack Obama's recent salvo: "..fnd and KILL Bin Laden..." didn't really rool off the tongue very well. I don't feel that this kind of Bush-esque cowboy talk is fitting for this President.
Indeed, the entire Osama Bin Laden - "9-11" connection still doesn't make much sense to even the most asture observers. Hell, its doesn't even make sense to those with the proprietary knowledge of the US Government's relationship to Osama Bin Laden.
I submit that Osama Bin Laden is merely a symbol to invole fear in the Xtrian west and that there is no war with American (or any western country) people. The "terrorst" driven, oil focused campaign is actually a battle within a greater war of societal philosophies. The unfortunate felling of the World Trade Centre was only between the Reagan-Bush(s)-Clinton regime and nothing more. There were broken promises on the highest levels and a small group of Western sponsored killers too their revenge. But not on the West as a society - but on their puppeteers and political enablers. I say this asn a Former US Marine with a Masters Degree.
SO, who are you kidding? Why continue this kind of talk? There is no "Bin Laden" to kill. Rather, Its time to stop occupying small defenseless countries and try your hand at Russia. Not.
There is no "war" ... never was one. The Iraqi operation is merely an occupation. Just like Kirchner and Churchill in Northern Africa ...Now wot are u mugs prepared to really do about it?

Does this not look like one big circle of tension to you? It sure does to me, and it’s one that is growing far too tight in tension now. As a result, it could only be a matter of days, weeks, or months before one nation pulls the trigger to ignite World War III (WWIII).Sources:1) http://www.thejerusalemgiftshop.com/israelnews/politics/80-political/335-warnings-from-world-leaders-all-within-72-hours-.html2) http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=amM6gBY9JgJA&refer=home3) http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iyTh4daEIukZscHQWC558dEr3x5gD94BR7FG04) http://www.thejerusalemgiftshop.com/israelnews/israel-news/83-israeli-news/407-israel-war-on-iran-on-the-radar.html

"Hope is the vein through which our future dreams and aspirations flow." Ken Barnes
In a world of despair and negativity there are individuals who still dare to dream, who still have hope, the audacity of hope.
To believe you can, is the first step in anyone's journey in achieving their dreams and aspirations. Barack Obama stands as a testament to the changing times we live in. A time that says if we have hope, if we spend less time making the possible - impossible and more time making the impossible - possible, our dreams can come true.
However, we must first wake up to make those dreams a reality... let us wake ourselves, our friends, families and more importantly our children to this new dawn of possibility.
To paraphrase the words of Martin Luther King "I have been to the mountain top, I have seen the promise land, I may not get there with you."
Today, the world has witnessed change in the making. It has seen that even though we may not have reached to the mountain top as yet, we can however see that the path we need to travel is only blocked by our belief, determination and our audacity to hope.
The victory of Barack Obama to become the 44th President of America should also stand as a reminder that we should never forget and always remember that our vote can make a difference.
Congratulations to Barack Obama and his family as they enter the White House. May God keep him and his family safe.
YES WE CAN!

Gosh, it is cold! I am just getting used to my surroundings now and taking in the different atmosphere to home and I never realised it would be so cold, even though the sun is piercingly bright. What is causing the problem is the wind, the kind I haven't felt in England for a long time. Now I can see why they call Chicago the Windy City. It's a wind that lashes the unsuspecting body, totally negating the effect of the sun, and if it's coming full frontal, that's quite another experience!
Last night when I had finished my third stint of phone banking, I got talking to someone sitting next to me, a young man called Dan, who couldn't have been more than about 28 years old. We clicked immediately because of our zany sense of humour, easy laughter and irreverent manner, and he kept marvelling at how I was there in the thick of it, though not being an American. But I was not really unique, as I discovered. I met people from Denmark, from the Netherlands (who thought Barack was so 'inspirational') from France and from Italy, who were there every day for many hours each day. Even though the Italian could hardly speak English, he was enjoying his data entry which he did continuously without a murmur. It was pretty motivational to see the level of commitment among all the volunteers, both national and international, regardless of the amount of work they had to do, and it was never-ending. For one person to engender such passion, loyalty, commitment and enthusiasm from across the world, he really had to be very special.

In 1955, when racism was still a big issue in the United States of America, Ella Fitzgerald became the first African-American to perform at the Mocambo, after Marilyn Monroe had lobbied the owner for the booking. The booking was instrumental in Fitzgerald's career. Marilyn would promise the owner that she would appear every night (and be on time), and this way also fill the house--and she did, she was there every night, and she filled the house and: she was always on time! Their close friendship lasted for many years and Ella would sing Marilyn Monroe's famous 'My Heart Belongs To Daddy' in honor of her wonderful friend Marilyn Monroe, who died almost 34 years before she passed on in 1996, at age 79. OK lets lighten up some discusiion here. Will the fist pound ever be given to another dignitary. Probably not but If he did. Who would be the first to pound.
Mr. Brown, Englands PM would be my guess.
The F-22 Raptor was desinged to ensure US air superiority for the next 40 years. The number of procurement has dropped from several hundred to 381 and then to 183. The Russians fly bombers over are aircraft carriers (cold war tatics), encourage joint military exercises with China (not a threat in and of itself), and now want a blue-water navy with aircraft carriers. China has an intensive intellengence and cyberwar with the US. China, with a one China policy, might invade Taiwan. China is building up their military and has had confrontations with the US. North Korea might sell nuclear material as well as Iran. The Middle East is hostile towards the US and terrorism is flourising. Both nuclear powers, Pakistan and Indian, argue over Kashmir. The list goes on and on. Now Russian built fighters, which will be sold on the foreign market, have closed the gap that the US has held on air superiority. I believe the US needs the f-22 at the recommended 381 level cited by so many defense experts. In a world that is so unpredictable you never know when the next major convential war may be. Terrorism is not the only threat and hopefully we learned from WWII it is better to be prepared! Bush's war put the F-22 in jeopardy. If we save the $70 billion dollars, plus the supplemental, that it cost to sustain convential military forces in Iraq we can save the program. Not only can we save the F-22 program but we can still fight the war on terror using anti-terrorism covert forces along with intelligence. This is how it should be fought if we learned from Vietnam and Palestinian/Israeli conflicts. General convential forces should not be used for terrorism. Hopefully we can put the money back into defense and guarantee our air dominance with the F-22. Plus I am all for selling F-22 to Australia, Canada, and England. I believe we should build up are most loyal allies to stabilize potential conflict with other nations. For example, China might be less inclined to invade Taiwan if Austrial and Japan with the strength to protect the region. We can sell the F-22 to keep production lines open and lower the cost. In the sale we have them agree to safeguard the technology and support regional security. If we don't trust our allies enough to share our technology (ONLY are most LOYAL and PROVEN allies) how can we expect them to play a bigger role on the war of terror? We have to get out of the mindset of we must do it alone and try to repair our international reputation. Australia has been pleading for the F-22. So has Japan and Israel. I don't know about Israel since they sell things to China. Why can;t we use this to our advantage? A,B,C's (Austrial, Britian, Canada) have, according to DoD studies, always been trusted. Why do we feel we need to keep the technology to ourselves and do it alone? We need the F-22 and we need our allies to stand with us! Please tell me what you think?

To realise just how powerful perception can be, I only have to look at my youth. Before I came to Britain 40 years ago, I thought England meant Britain, i.e. that there was no separate Wales or Scotland – just one big mass of land called England to which everyone belonged. Without adequate knowledge, many uneducated Jamaicans did not understand the subtle difference in location, ethnicity and identity. We thought that the streets were literally ‘paved with gold’, having lots of opportunities for people from the colonies who visited the Motherland. We thought that, with the British having imposed their lifestyle and values on us, we would be welcomed in their country; that the Queen was too posh to ever use a loo and that all members of the royal family were so saintly, you could almost see their halos! After years of experiencing real British life, one can laugh at these perceptions which seem so naive and silly now, but were very serious and sincere in the absence of appropriate knowledge and education.
Life isn't something to be taken for granted, it can be taken away from you at any time. This is why I live my life to the full, I do what I can do, take pleasure in the things that I feel are special, politics is one of these things.
Without it there would be no order, no democracy, no peace. However we need a leader that will take the lead and change the environment around you and giving the belief back to the people. Barack is doing this now, he needs more support and then he will change the lives of many people, thousands defiantly, millions certainly, billions possibly, with more support he can shape this country around him and his democratic party.
All we need is belief, and without that there will be no life for us to enjoy or experience,
Tony Blair's Exit Strategy
As Tony Blair submitted to his weekly inquisition by MPs in the House of Commons on Wednesday, his opponents sought to highlight splits opening within Labour ranks as its pols jockey for position in anticipation of the Prime Minister's looming departure. But it was a deeper gulf that yawned as Blair used the occasion to shift Britain's Iraq strategy, announcing a planned reduction in troop levels by 1,500 over the coming months from some 7,100 at present, with the aim of pushing overall numbers below 5,000 by the end of the year.

Thank God SOMEBODY has some sense.
After the enjoyment of watching the presidential speech made by Barack Obama in Springfield, Illinois yesterday, I thought it was a good time to introduce myself,
I am Ian Hughes, 15 years old and a student at high school in the South of England. I started being interested into Barack Obama's political life when I visited Chicago in 2006, ever since I have followed his work as a senator and his race for the presidency in the '08 elections. On Christmas Day of 2004, I had a major brain haemorrhage which effectively knocked out all of my language skills and I had to relearn the English language. The NHS (National Health Service) helped me survive the ordial and this gives me a special interest into the workings of National Health Services in both the UK and the US.
A very current problem, for me here in the UK, is the propositions to close or downgrade the emergency services in most Hospitals in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The hospital that I went to as an emergency, when my brain haemorrhage happened, may close the emergency centre so I would have to travel another 40miles to the next hospital for me to have any treatment or help. This worries me greatly as I wouldn't be alive today if I hadn't been so close the hospital that treated me, and if I had to travel the other 40 miles I would have died on the way to the hospital.
I am also a very active member of my Youth Council in the county/state that I am in, and the chairman of the Eco-committee of my area. This is a lot of work, but I wanted to help my community and it environment. I have completed major projects to help our environment and increase the amount of recycling in my area. This gives me great pleasure, knowing that I am contributing towards a better future and without a future what would there be to live for.
Ian,
