I encourage all to go to "http://www.barackobama.com/issues/" and review OFA's core issues. Do we not have a common economic goal with people in other districts in every state? Yes, we do! Is it obtainable? Yes it is, at least it will be once we combine all of our collective thoughts and efforts.
ECONOMY- OFA's Issue Statement basically states: Change how we do business, rebuild our economy on a new foundation. I think it also implies that we all should share in our nation's economic growth and rewards. Not just the top two percent! I reject the thought or premise that a recovering economy will not produce jobs until months or years later. Where does it say Wall Street Bankers, Investment, Healthcare, and Insurance executives must get preferential treatment. Could it have started years ago when these same executives promoted an unregulated perverted free market economic ideology. To the working and middleclass disadvantage, have they also persuaded our representatives in government to consider us to be meaningless simple minded consumers and not intelligent demanding citizens?
Join with me not to be a socialist but to be pragmatist. We need a JOBS based economic recovery. Let us have an opportunity raise and feed our families in a stable place we call home. We need to design, process, and manufacture products in America like those productive Americans before us. There is inherent pride when we can show our family, products that we made in our workshops, factories and on construction sites. A quality life style we can be proud of.
A jobs based economic recovery would also discourage our children from joining gangs. If they can grow up with hopes and dreams and see a pathway to a quality life style, they will want to work. We must realize "Hopes" and "Dreams" eventually turn into goals and success stories. Jobs paying a living wage will indirectly dissipate the growing street gang crises and hopefully reduce it to a controllable nuisance.
Scandalizing methods of making money by shifting paper around in secrecy and under the cloche of darkness on Wall Street is no different than shifting twenty dollar notes around in secrecy and under the crack or coke of darkness behind Main Street.
We need JOBS, financial and insurance regulations, fair tax and trade laws that will remake America into a great industrial society. An educated and skilled workforce that manufactures finished products from raw materials. One that builds great Machinery and wonderful Landmarks. Give us JOBS and a chance to participate in this recovery.
We cannot wait for weak legislation to accidently happen once or twice a year. We cannot accept our Congressional Representatives bragging about being obstructionist introducing numerous phony amendments and then after all that, voting NO. We certainly cannot accept it from Rep. Barton Gordon (D?-TN-6) a BLUE DOG DEMOCRAT in the great Congressional Sixth District of Tennessee. I say " BLUE DOG DEMOCRAT " as a negative intonation. We need a progressive democrat like President Barack Obama.
The first step to success is that we have to want it. The second step is organizing and doing something about it. The third is monitoring or measuring our progress. Forth, continuously improve, change or make corrections to the process. Fifth, monitor, re-measure and accept no less than success. Just as OFA's issue statement says, " We will not rebuild our economy on the old model of bubbles and busts. We'll only climb out of the current crisis by creating a new, sustainable foundation for our economy's future -- and make the tough choices to put our economy back on the road to long-term prosperity." Think about it, talk about it, today we look back and see the economy still needs aggressive change. Our foundation cracked a year ago and is still unstable. We need to help President Barack Obama implement change at an accelerated pace. Do we think Rep. Barton Gordon is up to the task? I am now questioning this?
We Americans seem to live in a dream world ! There is no such things as "preventable death".
In the real world, the operative phrases are "inevitable death" and "prolonged life".
In the real world, those who insist on prolonging life need to be ready to pay for it too. If they think they can impose life syles on others, then they should be ready to foot the bill for those others as well.
It is simple, in the dream world, immortality comes free. In the real world longevity cost more.
I am ever so humbled by the amazing talents we have in our communities. These talents my be retired, unemployed, in career transition... they may be moms, stay at home dads, they are young, they are over 50, they have a variety of passions and they, WE, are all connected by one single, simple thread... the thread of change.

Who would ever have thought we'd get this far, and here we are! It'll be an exciting time between now and the US presidential election. If Obama wins, so many people can keep their dreams alive. If he loses, countless dreams will die. The taste of a McCain victory would be a bitter one. It is said that you get the government you deserve, but we do NOT deserve the government we currently have. If only the people who voted for our current leader had to live under his policies, life would be more just, but that is only a fantasy.
Its been more than a week since history was made. 8 days since millions of Americans got together in a tidal wave of reform, and refused to be budged by the insinuation of the past spilling into the present. 8 days since the possibility of change and of dreams being fulfilled, reinforced by example. 8 days of watching President elect Barack Obama start off rapidly on his transitionary phase.
In his victory, a world full of doubting youngsters, compelled sometimes to clip their own wings and fearing to believe in the unthinkable, have been exposed to the results of unerring, persuasive belief, hard work and determination.
And most of all, the fact that every single person can and SHOULD contribute towards bringing about the change they desire.
This is to President Barack Obama; a living inspiration, a father, a dreamer and a true American.
Not sure if the rest of you are tired of this race, but I can't wait till Wednesday. Either way let's not kid ourselves, our Country is in for a ride. "Reform" is this case is such a large word that its' shadow easily looms over the entire continent. I believe in this ticket more so than any other vote I have cast, but I type this with my fingers crossed...
Senators - We the people are asking much from both of you, but we are also giving you much. I implore you to use the power you could attain to stand up for what America founders stood for. Be honest, just and make us proud. I recently heard a great quote...

For the third time in the last six months I have awoken in the middle of the night from a dream where I am serving candidate Barack Obama in his quest for the American Presidency. In each dream, the last thing I remember before waking up is working for the man who I now fully expect to the next president of the United States. It is unusual for me, a fairly heavy sleeper, to be so awoken. It is unusual for me to wake up from any dream except when, in the dream itself, I am very disturbed. In these dreams of Obama, I am not disturbed, I am excited. I am excited about Obama’s chances for remaking America. I am so excited in fact that I am thrust from the dream into reality, and awoken with a mission, a mission to serve this country and Barack Obama.
This is a friends dream.

[I use to dream terrorist were black/gray in color, part police dog (newer breed not shepard) and timber wolf.
Approx: 16 months ago the wolf figure converted into Lions, Tigers, Leapords and Sharks. Meaning of conversion? Means terrorist are regrouping, coming together and utilizing each others strengths. Terrorist are adapting to each others differences, embracing differences in order to work together as one, This means Shiit, Sunni, Palestinian, Lebanese etc are coming together as one whole unit.. to show their power and strength to America.
Terrorist strategy is to strike as an individual, unknowing to infidels, the group is working as a team.
Goal is to create confusion, confusion to throw off infidel defense]

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Eleanor Roosevelt
Dreams are today's answers to tomorrow's questions. Edgar Cayce
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. Abraham Lincoln
Ideologies separate us. Dreams and anguish bring us together. Eugene Ionesco
Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them? Abraham Lincoln
The battle for the individual rights of women is one of long standing and none of us should countenance anything which undermines it. Eleanor Roosevelt
Patriotism is easy to understand in America. It means looking out for yourself by looking out for your country. Calvin Coolidge
Allow the president to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such a purpose - and you allow him to make war at pleasure. Abraham Lincoln
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Eleanor Roosevelt
A house divided against itself cannot stand. Abraham Lincoln
Dreams from My Future He was the culmination of historical tide; the tidal wave; the catalyst. He could not have been without those who had come before him. He was the legacy and the dream realized. Many who would come after would not have been, but for him. He was the teacher, the sustenance.
When he arrived, the world had turned all the shades of gray. The radiant spectrum of color had been dulled by the onslaught and ascendance of mediocrity. It had been attacked by the judgmental hands of those whose certainty about the unknown frightened and belittled those who questioned and challenged and experimented to bring light to the darkness. It had been smeared by concentration of all into the pockets and guns of a few.
He stood apart. He watched himself speak and act, from both within and without. He was as much an outsider to his own being as he was to the communities he sought to join. He did not connect because he was not the same. He did not fit neatly into the packaged story of the known and traditional. Ironically, his was the common path, though few understood it. In a land easily persuaded by charlatans and heavy with missteps, it was his duty to pierce the beast of hubris and decay. As one who others denied belonged to their history, it was his task to return the land to its humble origins to reignite the source of its energy and recreate the path to its destiny. So it was he who brought hope and faith in what can be achieved back to a land's heart and soul.
Before he arrived, the vulture death was hovering overhead. The fire of industry and creativity had suffocated and its embers smoldered. Possibility and achievement lay unnurtured, cold and shivering, fighting for breath. It seemed the fire and its children were only able to thrive on other sides of the world.
He was not a savior and he was not a hero. He was simply a moment. There was a choice between a sunset and a sunrise. A choice between a well-travelled road's end and an open path to anywhere… to everywhere. He was a guide to the unexplored.
Time teaches that these choices come at critical moments. When the light is fading and the doubt growing, the opportunity for rebirth always presents itself. Sometimes that choice is made; sometimes habit and suspicion are too cumbersome to overcome.
He was the moment. The coming together of what was and what should be. The ignition. The fruition.
The encroaching desert receded and verdant life flourished. The land, through its choice to change, became again the promise… kept.
The American Constitution is based on freedom and liberty for all people. And this means litterally ALL.
When we know that not all Americans has got this, it is
Although I grew up in the Black middle class of America, it didn't take long for my dreams to vanish.
As a child, between the age of 4 and 7, I wanted to be President of the United States. Shortly after being summoned into the house to learn about the assasination of Dr. King, that thought turned towards Indian Chief, policeman and or fireman. My early teens prompted the desire to own my own business. Upon graduating from a prestigious 100 year old military boarding highschool, as their first Black Battalion Commander and Valedictorian, it did not take long after my first year of college for me to drop out. While battling alcoholism and drugs, I simply settled for a job.
It became quite clear to me, although I blame no one for my failures and thank God for my successes, that the playing field was not equal, fair, nor touted for me to even play. Quickly I lost hope in myself, my community and my country.
At the age of 43, and finally coming to terms that being who I am is just fine and that assimilation is dangerous, I am victorious in life.
Now seeing someone who is tangible and has overcome the same obstacles fills me with joy!
Today, I can see the light. And I am committed to do whatever I can, with God by myself, to make that light available to future generations both here and abroad.
Thank you Barack, your LIGHT is burning bright, and I want the world to see it, right here, right now from my hometown (Detroit) and from D.C.

I am an 18 year old college student from the U.P. of Michigan. I am white, very white, half German, and Half Finnish to be precise. I am supporting Barack Obama because I believe that he is our best chance to bring respect back to these United States. I think that we need to get out of Iraq to focus on Afghanistan, and to free up the trillions of dollars that this useless war in Iraq is costing. November 4th baby! We will show the world what America is all about! The American Dream is real.
I bought Dreams from My Father recently and am in the process of reading it. So far I love it, I'm on chapter 17 and am advancing rapidly in it. My favorite chapter so far was chapter 14 when Barack first met Rev. Jeremiah Wright and went to church at trinity united. I loved the fact that those people in the church still had the desire to sing/shout praises to the Lord, even though many of them were in bad situations with scarcely a way out. Kudos to Mr. Obama on his excellent writing ability. I'm really pulled into the story of his life. After I am done with Dreams from My Father, I am going to begin to read The Audacity of Hope, which I picked up at the same time.
After the last few months of cheering for Obama and giving small donations here and there over the internet, yesterday I finally got actively involved. I went to my first meeting and signed up to process voter registration information. It was a surreal experience.
We were to meet at Davido's Pizza in Lithonia at 6 p.m. I was so excited that I arrived 45 minutes early. I ordered a small meal and watched the news as I waited for everyone to arrive. About 30 minutes, later people began to slowly trickle into Davido's. Soon there was a crowd of enthusiatic supporters buzzing about. We began the meeting with each person telling the group a little about themselves and why they are supporting Obama. The recurring sentimment was "for the children". Not just the black children, not just for the white children, but for all of the children of America. We had a mixed group and we were united for a common cause...Change.
We were broken off into groups according to the areas in which we lived, and began the business of assigning tasks for each member. We had people who were originally at Davido's to just grab a bite to eat decide to join as well. People who were just passing buy and looked through the window and saw the Obama items decided to sit in on the meeting as well. I was experiencing the overwhelming power of this grass roots campaign. I finally understood why my mother and sister were so gung ho to do more once they became involved.
I was excited to know that a voter's registration drive is held at Davido's every saturday morning. I plan to participate as often as I can. My daughter is away at Girl Scout camp this week, but once she gets back I know that she will want to help as well. We are not new to volunteering, only new to volunteering for Obama.
I looked around the room at the groups of people gathered around individual tables. Some were mapping out group plans, some where tallying up recently collected voter registration forms, others were talking and laughing and just getting to know each other, and their were little children looking around and taking it all in. I began to think about all of the powerful pictures that I have seen over the years taken back during the civil rights movement of the groups of people meeting and planning. As I looked out of the glass front of the store, I wondered if the people walking by and glanced in would one day look back into their memories and remember this snap shot in time. I know that I will.
