9:13 am PST, September 4, 2008. Near 16th and Mission. I am ready to begin.
I volunteered in the Obama campaign during the primary. I wanted her to win over Clinton. However, since Obama has clinched the primary, I have done nothing.
I was thinking about leaving the country when Bush beat Kerry. I didn't do it, but I was thinking about it. It's unbelivable when you think about it: Gore won in 2000, yet Bush got elected. Bush won in 2004, yet I still dispute the result. I remember watching the results come in on the internet and seeing Kerry ahead in the polls and projections. I have to admit I was really discouraged by this country at that moment in time. To even get to the point where it was close meant that I disagree with so many other voters. Now I am really proud of the Democrats. To elect Obama was great. BUT WE ARE NOT FINISHED YET AND NO ONE SHOULD BE SATISFIED!
Ok WTF is up with the Clintons, in particular Hilary Clinton? Why is she still entertaining the idea of having her name placed in for nomination? How can you claim to completely support Barack Obama but still look to have your name put in for nomination? That's not going to help the democrats chances for winning the election. I think it's a bunch of BS. I think the Clintons and all their supporters need to quite whining and face it. THEY LOST. Obama clinched the nomination, that's it. It's done. Why continue to be a pain in the ass? I tell you if Hilary's name is allowed to placed into nomination, I'll never donate to the democratic party or any democratic candidate again. I'll say this I used to support the Clintons, but I lost trust in Hilary because of her campaign tactics. I think the Clintons and their supporter need to understand and realize THIS IS NOT THEIR EXCLUSIVE PARTY. We're not all here to just support them and elect them. HILARY IS NOT MY QUEEN NOR ANYONE ELSES. At least that I'm aware of.

(DNC chairman under Bill Clinton) On My Switch From Clinton to Obama Today I am announcing my support for Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States of America. I am changing my support from Senator Clinton to Senator Obama, and calling for my fellow Democrats across my home State of Indiana, and my fellow super delegates across the nation, to heal the rift in our Party and unite behind Barack Obama
Hillary Clinton shares a very scary trait displayed by George Bush over these last 7 years. The ability to ignore reality and maintain his own version of the facts despite the whole world contradicting him is a characteristic of the George Bush Presidency, and one which also describes the Hillary Clinton campaign.
When George Bush says that he will listen to his Generals on the ground and then asks for the resignation of any General that does not agree with him is something that does not disturb Bush’s sense of correctness at all.He can say year after year that this or that marks a turning point in Iraq without any sense of shame or the intellectual honesty that would force him to admit that he had been wrong on previous occasions.
For all those who view Rev Wright as a monster please read this article. You may not necessarilly agree with his comments; I most certainly do not, but it would seem we are condemning a Minister of God without any attempt at finding out who he is.
It is better to have him in the open defending himself now so that he cannot be demonized or resurrected during the General by which time he will be old news.
FACTS:
1) Ex Marine who volunteered to serve his country
2) A former student of the Navy's Corpsman School at the Great Lakes Naval Training Centre.
3) Graduate Valedictorian
4) Then trained as cardiopulmonary technician and graduated number two in his class
5) Holds three White House commendations for his work as part of the team that took care of President Lyndon Johnson and other senior U.S. officials at the National Naval Medical Centre in Bethesda
6) Provided spiritual counsel to the Clintons at the height of their marital problems and was a regular visitor to the White House
Before you believe the politics of destruction do a little reading.
He has served his country and has earned the right to exercise his right to free speech whether Barack agrees with it or not.

Let's create the positive vision Barack has outlined by living positively and not focusing on the negativity that is everywhere in mainstream media, There are other news sources that are unbiased and provide thoughtful and in depth analyses of issues. Try this link for starters as a news/fact source that is well rounded and robust in terms of real issues and critical thought:

While I am not pleased with the dirty tricks, lies, and the behind-the-scenes manipulation by the Clinton campaign of the Democratic nomination process, I believe that Hillary, as desperate as she is, is a tougher opponent than John McCain.
The more people know Hillary, the more she is disliked. The more people know Barack Obama, the more they are impressed. Hillary Clinton represents the old politics of scorched earth, “winning is the only thing that matters” philosophy.
While Barack was on vacation, Hillary’s negative attacks and lies about Bosnia caused her negative ratings among Democrats to soar to 47%. That increase in negative perception is clearly Hillary’s own doing.
Barack Obama, by not descending to her level has shown himself to be of high moral character, even when he has been baselessly and viciously attacked by the Clinton campaign.

There are times when you want to reach into the idiot box and shake the "media" into consciousness. One of those times, recently, was when you saw the narrative change after the so-called "Hillary comeback". These are some random thoughts on why I think the argument in the media and the Hillary campaign, don't hold much water ...1. Hillary - the comeback: So, lets be real; she is at a point of no-return in the race for the nomination. She can't mathematically win, without strong-arming the democratic party and the rules. Now, its true that Barack didn't "close the deal" last week. But, isn't it worth noting that he closed in on a 20 point gap in Texas, a traditional Hillary state, and came out with more delegates than her! Shouldn't the storyline thus be that Barack has made the comeback from behind in TX?2. Hillary - the "fighter": She claims she can fight a strong competitive campaign and deflect all the mud-slinging that supposedly the republicans would engage in. However, when did she ever do that? She won the senate race in NY, easily, fighting against a weak republican, Rick Lazio, after her strong opponent Rudy dropped out due to health reason. By the way, she ran for Senate from NY, some say, because it was "easy" to win in a Big Blue state. Her re-election campaign in NY was also a cake-walk with no real opponents. On a fair point, Barack didn't have to run any competitive races for his election to the Senate either.3. Hillary - the Clinton years: A sub-text of her message is that she represents the prosperous and happy Clinton years. But, nothing can be further from the truth. Bill Clinton, represents those times. And the irony of this is, Barack is more of a "Clinton" than Hillary is. The message, the style, the charisma of Barack, is reminiscent of Bill in 1992. And, Hillary is like George HW Bush, the one who gets surprised, if he doesn't win, as he thinks its inevitable for him! So, if you are nostalgic about Bill, maybe you should vote for Barack!4. Hillary - the inevitable: That brings us to her inevitability. Well, if she really was, then, she should have won by now. A lot of democrats voted for her in the early primaries, as they thought that after all said and done, she would win by Super Tuesday. They followed their minds and not their hearts. The irony is, however, that they are the ones that are suffering from "buyer's remorse". In fact, if you have a do-over in New Hampshire, Hillary will not win, and NY,NJ,CA will become very competitive!5. Hillary - the big States: Which brings us to the argument that Hillary won the big states and Barack the "small" ones. Ignoring the fact that the statement itself is quite condescending and un-democratic, do we really believe that if Barack runs for President as the democratic nominee, he will loose NY, NJ, CA? He lost them to Hillary, but he wont loose them to McCain! On the other hand, Hillary has no chance of winning the ones she lost to Barack, such as SC, VA! On a fair point, yes, OH will probably be tougher for Barack to win than Hillary; but then he has the potential of winning TX from the republicans.6. Hillary - the 3am call: The media seems to think that the "3am ad", broke the momentum of Barack's campaign. But, other than providing a lot of comedic fodder, it may not have changed voter's mind to the extent it has been made out to be. If Barack, as president, gets a 3am call (or a 830am call as this president did with the message, "the country is under attack"), he will not muse for 7 minutes; he would do what Bill Clinton would've done, demonstrate leadership, bring people together in the moment of crisis. Hillary on the other hand, would probably try to do the same. It seems to me, however, Barack would be more successful in emerging "leader like" at the moment of crisis, than Hillary.7. Hillary - the experience: Her point for the above ad was her experience in dealing with international crisis. Well, there hasn't been any specific indication of that in her career. And, nostalgically, there was none in Bill Clinton's past and George Bush's past when they became president. We all know, how each of them dealt with crisis, one successfully, the other not so much. So, what made Bill the better president? His leadership, his inspiration, his intellect, his judgement (public, not private, of course), his ability to bring people together... ironically all traits that are strong in Barack Obama and not so much in Hillary Clinton.I wonder why the democratic establishment insists on prolonging the horse race. Parties, democratic or republicans, have always done right, when a leader has broken from the pack and brought the country together. Reagan and Bill are shining examples in recent years. So, why is the establishment, so wary of annointing the obvious leader? Maybe that's just a rhetorical question. The answer maybe, because it IS the establishment!
The best analysis of what is happening so far is from Donna Brazile. She said teh following on National TV this morning:
"Despite Obama's impressive victories in February, Clinton's comeback is based on sowing political seeds of doubt," said Donna Brazile, a Democratic strategist and one of nearly 800 party leaders known as superdelegates for their ability to determine the nomination. "In order to clinch the nomination, he must anticipate the worst attacks ever."...
Some superdelegates are bracing themselves to intervene on Obama's behalf if necessary.
"If these attacks are contrasts based on policy differences, there is no need to stop the race or halt the debate," Brazile said. "But, if this is more division, more diversion from the issues and more of the same politics of personal destruction, chairman Dean and other should be on standby."
The 3 most totalitarian high powered regimes on God's Earth namely Saudi Arabia, China and Putin's Russia are ALL key allies of the US. Add to that Pakistan and you wonder who is naive?
Take Wahabi Saudi Arabia the home of Bin Laden the mastermind of 9/11 where women cannot vote, public floggings, stoning, amputations, castrations and beheading are common place yet the US sells them some of its most advanced weaponry and see it as a key ally. Lets pray Bin Laden does not succeed there like the Ayatollah did in Iran then we shall see whose policies threaten the security of the State of Israel.
The irony though is this; it was Russia that sought to influence Cuba by attempting to install missiles there that led to the embargo over 40 years ago. Putin of Russia is now Bush's best friend and communist Russia is a NATO partnership for peace (PFP) member but poor Cuba is still being punished. Is it because Cuba is a Latin/black / mix race nation?
What must be understood is that countries around the world feel that USA only talks to tyrants who are armed to the teeth. Russia, China & Pakistan all possess nuclear weapons. No dialogue with North Korea until it developed at breakneck pace nuclear weapons. You now start to understand why Iran and countless others are hell bent on acquiring these devastating weapons. They see them as the ONLY means to receive US respect; to be taken seriously, to be invited to the negotiation table.
Contrary to US perceptions, such arrogance occasioned by an inept display of double standards diminishes the respect for the US around the globe because other nations witness these acts and inconsistencies.
Look at the recent complaint by the Secretary for Defence that NATO allies are not pulling their weight in the war against Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan. If the US thought so highly of that fight, how come it has spent in the intervening six years, the equivalent of what it spends in 3 weeks in Iraq? If a phoney war in Iraq is more important to the US than the fight against the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, why should others take it seriously?
When it comes to foreign policy, Barack is streets ahead of the Bush/Hillary/McCain/Neo cons failed strategy going back years. To understand this new argument, you need to be able to see yourself in the eyes of those who are not Americans. Only Barack can see this and it does not surprise me that a lot of Americans cannot fathom what to most non Americans is just simple commonsense!
Senator Obama now leads the delegate race as the results from the Potomac (DC, MD, VA) results come in. He has already secured victory in VA. The opposition has all but conceded victory in this primary and has continued to downplay Obama’s wins however the delegate count does not lie. With a shakeup in her campaign organization, new emphasis on internet fund raising and a focus on the “big states (TX, OH)” Obama supporters should expect that the gloves will come off and the big guns to come out. The competition can not be underestimated. As such, we can not bask in the glow of all of Obama’s recent victories, because there is much work to do.
I encourage all of Senator Obama’s supporters to hit the ground, ring those phones, and raise funds because we have reached the tipping point. The leader is always the hunted, and we have a relentless, tenacious hunter on our heels. Let’s not let up. Even if your state’s primary/caucus has been decided, there are still states ahead that can benefit from your work. Senator Obama has the best ground organization, let’s keep it that way by continuing to show and prove our support.
And… for those who are still on the fence, you are important. As the race has tightened, the super delegates loom large on the horizon of deciding the fate of the nomination. Don’t leave it in the hands of the super delegates, the DNC brass or the courts to decide. Consider change, consider taking a stand, consider Obama.
My #1 choice in the Democratic nominating race, John Edwards, has now withdrawn from the race. As a result, I am left in a tough situation - having to choose between two candidates - Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who have both caused me grief at times. Hillary Clinton used to be my second choice, and I thought I could never vote for Obama - not even in the general election.
Let me say something clearly. The hurt Obama has caused by putting Donnie McClurkin on the stage has not gone away. I am not going to forget. But while I cannot forget, I can forgive. I can forgive because when Barack Obama says that he talks about tough issues not just in front of friendly audiences but audiences that need to hear it, he is not talking bull. He does go to African American churches in the south and talk about embracing gay Americans - not a particularly convenient thing to do. While it didn't lesson the sting that he had caused with his concert with McClurkin, it did make me realize that he's got some courage of his convictions.
