I ask all people to pray for this country. Pray that instead of hatred and prejudice that Christians will find their way back to being followers of Jesus and that they will show compassion and love so that the world will know that Jesus lives.

The 2500 year old Jewish community, which numbered over 80,000 thirty years ago at the time of the Khoemeni Revolution which overthrew the Shah, has dwindled to about 20,000. Those remaining Jews live restricted personal and religious lives, always under suspicion of being traitors for pro “Zionist” activities.Despite the official distinction between “Jews,” “Zionists,” and “Israel,” the most common accusation the Jews encounter is that of maintaining contacts with Zionists. The Jewish community does enjoy a measure of religious freedom but is faced with constant suspicion of cooperating with the Zionist state and with “imperialistic America” — both such activities are punishable by death. Jews who apply for a passport to travel abroad must do so in a special bureau and are immediately put under surveillance. The government does not generally allow all members of a family to travel abroad at the same time to prevent Jewish emigration. Again, the Jews live under the status of dhimmi, with the restrictions im posed on religious minorities. Jewish leaders fear government reprisals if they draw attention to official mistreatment of their community.
Iran’s official government-controlled media often issues anti-Semitic propaganda. A prime example is the government’s publishing of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a notorious Czarist forgery, in 1994 and 1999.2 Jews also suffer varying degrees of officially sanctioned discrimination, particularly in the areas of employment, education, and public accommodations.The Islamization of the country has brought about strict control over Jewish educational institutions. Before the revolution, there were some 20 Jewish schools functioning throughout the country. In recent years, most of these have been closed down. In the remaining schools, Jewish principals have been replaced by Muslims. In Teheran there are still three schools in which Jewish pupils constitute a majority. The curriculum is Islamic, and Persian is forbidden as the language of instruction for Jewish studies. Special Hebrew lessons are conducted on Fridays by the Orthodox Otzar ha-Torah organization, which is responsible for Jewish religious education. Saturday is no longer officially recognized as the Jewish sabbath, and Jewish pupils are compelled to attend school on that day. There are three synagogues in Teheran, but since 1994, there has been no rabbi in Iran, and the bet din does not function.At least 13 Jews have been executed in Iran since the Islamic revolution 30 years ago, most of them for either religious reasons or their connection to Israel. For example, in May 1998, Jewish businessman Ruhollah Kakhodah-Zadeh was hanged in prison without a public charge or legal proceeding, apparently for assisting Jews to emigrate.Other religious groups are persecuted too. This week Iran admitted that seven Bahai leaders arrested and detained more than eight months ago would be charged with spying for Israel. The Bahai faith, which began in the 19th century in what is now Iran, claims their founder, Baha’a'llah, is the last Moslem prophet, not Mohammed. Bahai’s international headquarters are located in Haifa, Israel where Bahais, along with Moslems and Christians of various backgrounds, plus other religions in addition to Jews can practice freely.This is not true in Iran.Bahais claim 300,000 followers in Iran, but there are no independent statistics on the denomination’s size in the country. The Islamic republic allows Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians, who are regarded as members of monotheistic religions, to hold religious gatherings. Bahais are forbidden to hold such meetings, and those who make their faith public are banned from studying at universities serving in the army and working in government offices. The Iranian prosecutors claim“All evidence points to the fact that the Bahai organization is in direct contact with the foreign enemies of Iran,” Dorri-Najafabadi wrote in the letter, (snip) “The ghastly Bahai organization is illegal on all levels, their dependence on Israel has been documented, their antagonism with Islam and the Islamic System is obvious, their danger for national security is proven and any replacement organization must also be dealt with according to the law,”This charge is part of the latest prosecution against Iranian Bahais. The Bahai International Community, which represents members of the faith worldwide, says hundreds of followers have been jailed and some executed in the years since Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution.http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/02/again_religious_persecution_in.html

I don't think this site lets me add youtube videos, so here's the link to the video I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIVd7YT0oWA
I'm wondering what other christian bloggers opinions are about Obama's recent comment in Turkey about the USA not being a christian nation? I think he's right in some ways that it's not defined by religion like some countries are, but christianity still permeates(sp?) the country very deeply. It may not officially be anything and that's fine, but it's an interesting idea to bring up. I know of many people who WOULD say the US is a Christian nation. I wrote another blog post about this and Obama's Christian t-shirts on my main website, but I'd like to know here what people's opinions are about this. It's something that' affects us all more than some of us might want to believe.
Obama said "My mother was a Christian from Kansas, and they married and then divorced. I was raised by my mother. So, I've always been a Christian." from msnbc interview
Anybody that knows anything about his mother knows she was an athiest, an agnostic at best.
BBC has got a Muslim trying to rewrite historic Jewish Jesus from Judea (attempting — to no avail — to “Arabize” & confuse JUDEA with Arabia…).
Accompanied with a typical Islamic-bigotry’s bombarding propaganda of the “bad” Israelis that dare to try fight (with security checkpoints) the Arab Muslim (invaders) that terrorize the Jews.
Just another typical biased BBC’s blend of radical Islamism & Arabism re-”view” of true facts, in Islamic culture there’s a word for it: Taqiyya (http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/018169.php#c451487) - an intentional planned lying to and deceit of the infidel, it’s encouraged, as long as the infidel “buys” it.

There you go, the usual Islamic follow-up crime, after committing the massacre - (on top of everything) blaming the victims!
What the heck is an “hindu zionist” anyway??? then again, Who said Islamofascism makes sense?
The truth — however — is that the Islamists consider ANY anti terrorists pro-security, pro-survival, pro-life acting “entity” as “zionists”, that’s IslamiPedia for “Zionism”.

Both forms of bigotry "working together" Arabism & Islamism, just like the terrible "palestinians"...
Perfect Love drives away fear. Familiar? My name is Eva, I am one of many Christian Conservative, independent voters favoring Obama. McCain's campaign has apealed to the worse fears that people have. As a Christian I am deeply offended that the name of the Lord has been defiled so many times. I am Pro-life (although I believe we would be better served by calling our movement - Choose life movement), and I voted Republican in the past because I believe in family values and in protecting the values I hold dear and thought that Republicans believed the same. See the ignorance in this thought? The past 8 years have been terrible for Christians, yes...prayer out of school, we went to a war that made no sense in the process costing the live of our soldiers and do not forget the people in Iraq who were invaded and murdered turning their world upside down. I pray about those innocent lives too. It is more what unites us than that what divides us. Jews say Shalom, Muslims say Assalam Alaikum, Christians say Peace be with you. We have been taught what we grew up believing and at some point in time we make choices about our Faith and lives. FEAR has been the great Divider these elections, how many e-mails, blogs, things that spread through word of mouth have reached deep in our hearts causing us to wonder if we sin by voting for Obama. Would the world be the same? Actually no, the world needs to be a better place for all. We need to work together and seek that what unites us. There is goodness out there and as much evil, goodness prevails. Obama is optimistic and there is a reason for that, he appeals to our common good. We need optimism and more than that Faith because what lies ahead is not going to be easy, work on the economy, jobs, communities, homeland security and defense and repair of broken internationsal relationships. Daunting huh? Well without what he is proposing I believe we would fail, we need hope. I believe that the first gift God gave us was freedom of choice. He did, if He had not we would still be in paradise, think about it. We can choose life, choose truth, choose so many things, we can agree to disagree and still live. That is why Obama appeals to me, eloquency, intelect and passion are not bad as some Republicans have portrayed, I think that we need someone educated, diplomatic, capable and willing to defend those who need it in the White House. I am a Christian and it hurts that people would miss out on love because it does not look like love anymore. I am a physician and I hear the pain in the stories that people share with me, do not judge on single person because each one has a different experince in life, learn to listen and love as He does. So, seek truth, listen to your heart and pray for our Nation. Remember goodness prevails and do not be afraid. We should only fear God and His perfect love drives away our fears.
Human rights & peace in the middle east - Arabism & Islam discrimination on the "other"
[Analysis] Peace will prevail when economic, social and cultural rights are granted to all ...
The Middle East... conflicts...
For example:
* the Israel and [so called] "Occupied Territories" (Palestine) issue
* the conflict between Hamas and the Fatah; the Iraq conflict
* the conflict in Afghanistan
* conflicts within Saudi Arabia
* the security concerns, especially the nuclear threat, that Ahmadinajad's Iran poses
* the Kurdish situation with serious discrimination from Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq with very limited support from any powers
* the Lebanon conflict
* the rise of Islamic militancy in Egypt and Algeria
* the suppression of any opposition in Saudi Arabia and most of Middle East countries
* the spread of fundamentalist Islam -- Wahabbi style -- and the attempt to suppress any modern civil secular democratic voices in the Middle East region
* and not to forget the problems in Sudan where civilians are being massacred in Darfur by the government and the military.
[...] Islam is at the center of all social order and of the moral and intellectual values of Middle Eastern Muslims. In fact, it is the official religion in most Arab and Islamic countries. Considering Arabism and Islam as synonyms embodies discrimination against various ethnic and religious groups in the Middle East. [...]
Conclusion
Most regimes in Middle East are authoritarian, if not dictatorships, ruling for decades by fear or reward. The elites who rule in Middle East countries used religious faith with ideology of nationalism for blinding people and controlling them ... conflicts in the Middle East all look different, but the real cause root is related to human rights abuses. http://english.ohmynews.com/articleview/article_view.asp?article_class=&no=383905&rel_no=1
The dawning of a new day is here, both for America as a whole and for those who call ourselves "compassionate conservatives," a code name for politically active Christians.
It's a time when our nation has the opportunity to break from the tradition of the past--from racial and class division, from partisan politics, from us against them--and to ride into a bright, new future of unified effort for the good of all Americans, truly non-partisan policy making and cooperation in Washington.
The undeclared but clearly evident leader of this new effort is Barack Obama, an American of mixed racial background (half white, and half black), and of mixed socio-economic background, a recent graduate from the struggling middle class to the echelons of upper class America. He is the leader we need right now not just because of superior intellect, highly effective communication skills, and his high level of educational attainment, but also because of the character and the temperament with which he has been divinely blessed. Character he has demonstrated in this election in quite distinct contrast to his Republican contender, John McCain.
It is for this reason that I, a social activist at heart for the poor and for the good of all men, and a Christian conservative as it relates to the two most pivotal moral issues of our time--abortion and homosexuality--have decided to vote for Senator Barack Obama to become the next president of the United States.
Though the Republican party may attempt to portray it--God is not the God of one political party. He is not more concerned about small government than he is about helping those in need. He did not only send His Son to die for upper class and upper middle class whites. He does not want us to lock-up first time, young non-violent offenders for most of their young adult lives and throw away the keys. He does not want us to ignore the social causes of crime. He does want his people involved with both parties so that both parties ultimately represent His interests, which are the best interests of us all.
This is our opportunity. In this election, we have the ability to show the rest of America that "conservative Christians" can make a balanced, intellectual, and still spiritual choice for President. We can choose to vote for Barack Obama, not because we agree with him on every issue, but because we agree with him on many. And we can make our voices heard during his administration to affect the way he governs on issues with which we do disagree.
Make the change. Take the leap. Make a new choice, and encourage other like minded people to make this choice as well--praying all the way for Christ to grant Sen. Obama the wisdom to make the right decisions at the right time, not swayed by what's popular, but based on the right foundation--God's Word--at "such a time as this" in our nation's and the world's history.

I just got done watching the most terrifying movie I have ever seen. It had nothing to do with psycho killers, fiendish monsters or global warming. On the contrary, “Jesus Camp” is about regular people—just like you and me—whose primary purpose in life is practicing their “prophetic gifts” so that they can “take back America for Christ.” I did not know that Jesus ever lived in the U.S.
Don’t get me wrong—Jesus is cool—but just like with every religion, fanatics tend to see things in a different light. Maybe it’s their gifts.
“Kids On Fire Summer Camp,” a Charismatic or Pentecostal Christian sanctuary located in North Dakota, teaches dedicated Evangelical kids to become soldiers in “God’s Army,” hell bent on spreading the word of the Lord, whatever the cost. Sounds to me like another group of fanatics in another god’s army.
The McCains', Palin, and the rest of their carnival troop are showing just how creepy they really are. They are actually trying to incite their naive supporters in way that is reminiscent of Nazi Germany! Fear Mongering, use of ethnic names to bring out racist feelings among their supporters, lies, distortians, and sleazy name calling.
They accuse their opponent of everything they are guilty of doing to try and distract everyone. They are talking to their "base" but this stuff is picked up and re-broadcast a thousand times day after day by the media, looking for a rating. What this does is increase the problem and the negative coverage of Barack Obama. What the press should be doing is calling for a halt to this kind of thing and demanding the McCain's stop this kind of behavior. The media should be talking about the Recession we are in and the actual causes of it!
All politicians, Democrat and Republican need to go on record condemning McCain, Palin Cindy McCain and the entire McBush campaign. The whole world is watching and wondering how low McCain will go before we put a stop to this.
Why would any self respecting Christian support McCain/Palin who are exhibiting anything but Christian Values. If a murderer or child molester said they were anti-abortion would that be a reason to let them loose? McCain and Palin are hypocrites and cannot be trusted. They will betray their Christian supporters just like Bush has done. Christians need to take a look at an economy that will kill infants of starvation and make parents homeless.
Bottom line is that we do not want someone like this in the Oval Office. A sleazy old degenerate who is showing signs of dementia with a Vice President who is a slime ball empty skirt, waiting for him to drop dead to slide into the Presidency is not what this country needs. McCain appears to be mentally exhausted if not unstable. He is like an old actor reciting lines he's given but really can't remember well. McCain does not have what it takes to be President even on a good day. He's out of touch and does not get it. He is a foul mouthed, chauvinistic opportunist and compulsive gambler who needs to retire and go home.
My Dad, Ken Hurley, was a special education teacher who taught at Beulah Beal Young Parents Center, a public school for pregnant teens and new parents in Jacksonville, Florida. My father believed that each one of his students had innate worth and gave 100% everyday to ensure that these young women received an excellent education. In his mind, his crowing achievement was that three of his special ed. students went onto college, helping to ensure that they and their children could have a better life. When Beulah Beal was closed, my Dad went onto another public school, A. Philip Randolph, where he not only taught special ed. but he also would bring in lasagnas and breakfasts for his students who didn't have food at home. Daddy was also an ordained minister and as such he worked as a Chaplain for the Salvation Army. His main mission was to serve those men and women who don't have a home. He would preach a message of Christ's love, forgiveness, and acceptance every Sunday. He also bought shoes, and clothes, bicycles and bus passes. He would quietly give money to men without homes so that they could go into the McDonald's and buy themselves some food; so instead of feeling like beggars, they could sit down in the cool and feel as though they belonged in society again. My father cared and when he looked at a person in need he saw just that-- a person. He refused to write any human being off with a convenient descriptive. The type that so many of us too often use to separate ourselves from the crisis-filled human need that goes on right under our noses. My father was also an auxiliary police officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office because he wanted to help make his community a safe place to live. My Dad loved his country. He voluntarily joined the military during The Vietnam War. He served with the Army Security Agency from 1962-1965. He was in Vietnam and his best friend died there in his arms.
I've been doing my own "webquest" for worthwhile Christian groups for Obama, because I'm getting very tired of Republicans and others questioning those of us who support Obama (and that includes some of my relatives). I wanted some company, some support from other Christians who support Obama.
So far I've found http://matthew25.org/ and http://www.believersforbarackobama.com/ plus other blogs like http://mindfulmission.com/index.php/2008/03/03/christians_for_obama which has some tough discussions.
I've found useful articles as well:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/145971/page/1
Many articles are posted at: http://matthew25.org/press.htm
So I keep looking and reading and praying and trying to be a peacemaker while standing up for my beliefs. Oh, and I've joined "Christians for Obama."
This is a sick article. I caught this on my morning news search. It's interesting that it occurred at a predominately white Christian school. I thought all Christians were supposed to be tolerant and accepting of all. What is even more sickening is that police are NOT treating it as a hate crime but simply as an "expression of free speech". This harkens back to the 50's and 60's. If we vote in religious nut jobs like Palin, we'll face more of this same type of incident.

America is at War Though we would like to think differently, there really are evil people who spend all their time thinking and planning the destruction of American men, women and children. While Christians and Jews are primary targets, these very bad terrorists do not discriminate in their desire to kill and destroy anyone who does not believe as they do. For our enemy, this is a cultural war, this is a religious war, this is a necessary war. Radical, militant Muslims have declared war on America.

It is not about al Muslims, but about the radical Islamic fascism (fascism in the name of Islam) force. And CAIR is a very radical Islamic organization that its founders have stated that 'Islam isn't in America to be equal but to DOMINATE!' besides, CAIR is a pro Hamas group (that still haven't rejected its genocide of the Jews Hamas reiterates goal of world domination by Islam - annihilation of Israel -establishment of Caliphate in Jerusalem [1], oh! Don't lie to me that they're about "land") and is linked with Al-Arian that raised funds for the terror organization. CAIR Is basically a HATE 'wolf pack' organzation masked in "civil rights group" sheep cloting.
