"I like anyone who's come from a hard life because they understand people that are having a hard life. Barack Obama, like President Clinton, they really understand the people and lives we're going through with."
I've gathered some information that should help us fight back the smears and the lies. I agree that Obama needs to stay above the fray and keep the message on the economy. It's surrogates and supporters like us who have to fight back. We have come to far and worked to hard canvassing, phone calling, registering voters, convincing and informing undecideds, etc. for it to all go the way side like Kerry in 2004. We cannot afford another 4 years of the last eight. time is drawing close and we need this win. Fight back with truth. mccain and palin have allot of political skeletons that need to be forced out of the MSM closet. I've gathered some info, if you have more please share.

Obama's Great Uncle Speaks out on Liberating Nazi Camp
By Beachmom @ www.dailykos.com
Tue. 7/22/08
This is important history, and vitally important, considering how much the Right made a fool of themselves attacking Obama for getting a few facts wrong on what was so obviously true. Barack Obama's great-uncle, Charles T. Payne, is a true hero to this country for what he did in World War Two. Although Obama's family has been very private (and understandably so), Charles has now come forward with his story. It gets me all emotional, on the incredible sacrifice he made, and equally so with his statement about his great nephew, "He's truly an astounding young man and always has been." More of the story link here: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/07/22/obamas_great_uncle_recalls_liberating_nazi_camp/
It is fitting that Charles Payne's story comes out now, as Obama has landed in Israel, and will be visiting the Holocaust Museum, Yad Vashem, in Jerusalem:
Charles T. Payne was 20 years old and, like any good Midwesterner, he knew how to listen. He was making conversation, in pieced-together English and German, with a freed prisoner of Ohrdruf, the Nazi work camp Payne's infantry division had just liberated at the end of World War II."With great difficulty we conversed and, if I got what it was he was telling me about, it was that the Germans had killed a million Jews and that the world didn't really know this yet," Payne, 83, told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday as, on the other side of the world, his great-nephew, Barack Obama, prepared to visit the Yad Vashem national Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem.Helping liberate Ohrdruf, a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp, in April 1945 was Payne's first close brush with history.

There have been a lot of false rumors told about Barack Obama these past months. Frankly, it is hard to understand why people choose to believe the lies. But this is nothing new. When someone looks different or whose name is different, it has been way too easy to label them "the other", but that does not make it right. Charles saw what happened when such hate of the unknown turned deadly. He had seen plenty of death during his two years in the Army, but the cruelty of what he witnessed at Ohrdruf appalled him. In the courtyard, he saw lying dead "a circle of the inmates in their rags, and you could see they were mostly near starvation. They were there with their tin cups like they were called to get food, then had been machine gunned." In a shed, he saw bodies stacked like cord wood. The survivors, many near starvation, were "nothing but just skin over bones with nothing, no flesh at all." He said the 1993 movie "Schindler's List" was "very good, but it didn't begin to show the desperate plight of the prisoners. I guess in real life you can't really starve people next to death in order to make a movie."
I have to say this sends shivers down my spine at what Charles witnessed, and the evil he stopped. He strikes me as a modest and highly intelligent man, unsure of whether he should delve into presidential politics after his name created a firestorm among the Right who attacked Obama for getting the name of the Concentration Camp his uncle liberated wrong (it was a subcamp of Buchenwald, not Auschwitz). In the end, Charles chose to speak out, and I think it must have been painful for him to conjure up those old memories, but he did so, because his great nephew was worth it:
"He's truly an astounding young man and always has been," he said.
He ends with a warning of man's inhumanity to man:
"Clearly to me it's proof that there's no limit to what a man will do to man and what government out of control will do," he said. "I guess we need to be on our guard eternally."
It is not my intention to over flag the controversies and misgivings generated by the ABC News organized Democratic Party debate in the Pennsylvania on April 16th 2008. Among the topical concerned raised by majority of Americans is their perception that the debate was a “gangster”, “gotcha” and politically manipulative one, purely intended to favor one over the other.
Well, no matter the school of thought you may be; those who tend to think that whether Charles and George were doing the Republican Party agenda and relentlessly trying to forced a joint ticket, in the event one of the candidate subsequently pick the nomination or if like Mr. Brooks of the New York Times, you belong to those which believe that, even though some of the questions were uncalled for, nevertheless it is important to ask Sen. Obama and therefore clarify some of these nonentities for the sake of appealing to ordinary Americans, at this point it is not very crucial anymore.
Majority of Americans has spoken and the verdict was that, the conduct of the debate were rather subjective than objective, more focus on human frailty, especially and specifically on Sen. Obama than Clinton, even when it is obvious the later carry more baggage than the first.
I was opportune to go over the entire debate once more, and sincerely I cannot agree more with those who feel ABC News network have taken the people of America and their trust for granted!
Just imagine if we have to disown every individual that has offended our status one way or the other; how can we relate and on what basis can we fulfill the quest for unity, neighborliness and humanity? It is such a shame to listen to Hilary Clinton detrimentally accentuates and perpetuates the politics that negate positivism, mankind and generosity.
Rather than emulate Obama and comprehensively lay to rest the nonentities of the first phase of the debate, like the bitter candidate she always was and is, relentlessly and melancholically beat and over flog the issue to death, to the extent that the American people can now see beyond the face marks she’s been wearing.
It is now obvious that no matter the actual intention of Charles and George and whatever interest they may be serving, one thing that is however absolutely clear is that Americans do not like to be taken for granted or as fools, who cannot decipher the difference between socio-economic downturn and uplifting, and those between progression and stagnation, and finally the difference between what issues are of national concern and those which amount to pure gibberish.
God bless USA
God bless Obama
