The moment has arrived for the nation to acknowledge the final departure of their tireless and long serving representative, Senator Ted Kennedy, the youngest son of America’s beloved family.
Senator Kennedy, the brave survivor of many family tragedies was a true warrior in various aspects. The Senator zealously battled for the large segments of the society on significant issues and health care was the top priority among them. Senator Kennedy delivered the health care speech with sincere emotion and great concern for the neglected groups in our society.

The 'Qassam Kindergarten' Jihad
'Palestinians' Islamic Hamas, "loves" children, well, in their special 'death cult' type of way anyway. You already know how they love their own children... to die for propaganda, and make every effort in succeeding in it - unfortunately. But there are also other children under the "wings of Jihadi love" of Hamas, the Israeli children in schools, in kindergartens, they are "favorites", favorites in Hamas' targets that is, planning the time/place when/where they go to school, thank God for so many miracles where children weren't harmed.Call it 'Qassam kindergarten', 'Kindergarten Jihad', or plain 'Jihad on kids' the broader reality.

The Israeli innocent Victims
Disgraceful 'Jihad Appeaser' Jimmy Carter LIES openly on CNN's Larry King and no one refutes him? Sat. (Feb. 7, 2009) night, Jimmy Carter said: ’Israel, it could have responded to the rocket attacks without firing on churches (excuse me, what churches in Islamic Gaza is he talking about???) and on Mosques’.
A short while after that Larry confronted the worst-ex-president “You said earlier that Israel fired on mosques and on schools, what was Israel supposed to do as they responded to where the FIRING CAME FROM”?
Jimmy, "I don’t known I wasn’t there, I only know that the UN said that Israel fired on them and there were only civilians there".
Hey, Jimmy, so what if we show you now the updated version by the UN where they retracted their false accusation on Israel will you have the guts and say the truth about humane Israel that Israel was (as always is) humane on targeting only Islamic terrorists but Palestinian (”legitimate voted govt in Gaza - Hamas”.) Muslims commit crimes against humanity - target civilians?

Now that the season of electoral expediency is over, Barack Obama owes Jimmy Carter an apology.
At the Democratic National Convention in Denver, the Party denied Jimmy Carter the traditional invitation to speak that is accorded its former presidents.
According to The Jewish Daily Forward, “Carter's controversial views on Israel cost him a place on the podium at the Democratic Party convention in late August, senior Democratic operatives acknowledged to the Forward.”
Silencing Carter, who negotiated the Israeli-Egyptian peace agreement, involved behind the scenes tensions between supporters of the hard-line AIPAC lobby and those Democrats who argued both respect and free speech to let Carter join Bill Clinton on the stage and address a nationwide audience.........

Dershowitz the Tummeler*
by Richard Silverstein @ Tikun Olam
JTA’s Eric Fingerhut must’ve had a really slow news day because he chose to write up a previously reported interview Alan Dershowitz gave to that august forum of Jewish media excellence, Shalom TV. There Der Dersh recounted one of his Samsonian fever dreams in which he single-handedly saved the Democratic national convention from having to sit through an address from the despised anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, no goodnik former president Jimmy Carter. Yes, it was all Alan’s doing, our great Mattathias, our great Maccabee, that hammer of the Jewish people.
Alan Dershowitz revealed that he was among those who convinced Barack Obama to keep Jimmy Carter from addressing the Democratic National Convention.“I pushed him very hard to make that decision. Barack Obama had to make a choice between his Jewish supporters and his anti-Israel supporters like Jimmy Carter, and he did not choose Jimmy Carter. And that was an embarrassment for Jimmy Carter and a show of disrespect. And I’m very glad he made that decision. It was a good decision, a wise decision, a moral decision.”

A friend gave me the documentary, Man From Plains, about Jimmy Carter's 2006 book tour for Palestine Peace Not Apartheid. It came out a year ago. My wife and I watched it the other night. I would urge the good curators at Yivo to buy the film, for it is an important document in the history of American Jews, and the perceptions about us. Especially now, when we are the most powerful minority in America (as Avraham Burg states so directly in his beautiful new book).
The documentary, by Jonathan Demme, a true leftlibber, is at its heart about Jimmy Carter and the Jews. It is a kind of tour of Jewish establishment culture as Jimmy Carter tries to explain that there is apartheid on the West Bank. He is greeted everywhere by denial, outrage, and mockery......

Re: Mid-thirties, educated, white female- fiscal Republican, Libertarian social perspective.
I have just submitted my absentee ballot (after much "broo-ha-ha" -rules/regulations), but it was worth it. Obma all the way!
My vote for Obama is two part:
(1): I believe that MY daily life over the course of 4 years is influenced mostly by Congress as a whole, not the President. I welcome anyone to respond to interpretation, as I am still young and have forgotten many examples that might proove to the contrary. It is my experience that a Democratic President plus a Republican Congress (total) is a combination that is beneficiary to all social/economic levels. (Right now, it is the opposite, and "how's that working out for us, eh?")
(2) The rebel in me is determined to get Alabama to elect a Democratic President, which has not been accomplished since the Carter Administration.
(New voter registration in Alabama has just flabbergasted our newspaper reporters). "Let's give 'em somethin' to talk about"......WOW- even "Alabama is for Obama"....(who couldn't laugh at the day that our state votes not only Democratic, but.....well, ya know...)
Obama Campaign managers must clinch the deal and visit Birmingham, AL....I have a typical "social" group, and the news coverage alone for his visit hear is enough to cinch the vote.
Let's make history people! It's still America no matter who's smile is on the cover of the world for four years.
D. Cole Alabama Resident
A special P.S. to all those who read this: My "Peter Pan" syndrome is wishing to be a part of a unified movement, who can say when, after turning ninety-years, "Yes, I helped make history".
That alone, along with his "realness", is why I am stepping over party lines to vote for Obama.
And for the "doubter"- I have read both party platforms completely through and have read all televised debate transcripts not once, not twice, but three times- to ensure that I agree with the change that I have made.
I AM CONFIDENT.
Get in line, stay in line, VOTE.
I download the following federal budget data from the Congressional Budget Office. It clearly shows that for the last forty years the Republicans have been the party of huge federal deficits. During both the Carter era (1977 – 1980) and the Clinton era (1993 – 2000) the deficit shrank and during the Reagan era (1981 – 1988) and the Bush II era (2001 – 2008) the deficit broke all previous records.
All figures in Billions of dollars. The 2008 Budget deficit is a record $455 billion.

I think, given all the attacks democrats get for taxing people, democrats should highlight the deficits the Republicans have created for us and the debt they are leaving for our children. The Republicans have been a party of debt and deficit for the last forty years. They have shown fiscal indiscipline of the worst kind.
A lot has changed in the 32 years since my last campaign experience. When Jimmy Carter ran for President, I worked in his Austin, Texas headquarters making signs, stuffing envelopes, and taking messages. In those days, before voicemail, the internet, (even home computers!) campaigning was one big rah rah barn-raiser, with lots of enthusiasm but a serious lack of professionalism.
Two days at Camp Obama showed me what a difference a few decades make. Direct voter contact is still important, but voter ID is so sophisticated that it's hard to see how a candidate with this kind of organization can lose.
Anything's possible, of course, and it seems the people at the top of this campaign are preparing for that, too, by doing everything in their power to capture a comfortable lead so there will be NO DOUBTS on election day as to who really won.
The campaign's mantra--respect, empower, include--could only have sprung from the conscience of a Democrat (or a little d-democrat), IMHO, and it informs every aspect of this campaign. The volunteer traing, phone banking, social networking, grassroots effort, canvassing, are all imbued with this philosophy and I am honored to be a part of it.
If Barack runs the country the way he has run this campaign....one can only hope. And act, to make sure he has a chance to do so!
The Obama Campaign likes to stick to substance, but if you really want to get the point across to a middle-aged population brainwashed on television sound bites that is not big on using the Internet to inform itself, they prefer the stick-to-your-brain snippet. Here is one:
Pull your Republican friends (Yes, you have some...) spouting the "Experience!" take when they mention McCain or Palin, or they ding Obama, and lay this on them:
Being a governor or a fomer warrior means a sum total of jack squat. History proves it.
Neither George Washington nor Abraham Lincoln Had Gubernatorial Experience.
Both were men who could think on their feet, just as Barack Obama has shown time and time again that he can do.
I was sitting watching the Democratic Convention on MSNBC, the place for politics, and suddenly discovered that they were doing an extended interview with Nancy Pelosi, rather than showing President Carter's speech. How irritating! I had heard he was actually going to speak, and was so looking forward to hearing him. I immediately started doing a web video search for the speech. And could find nothing. I started searching for text, and then finally discovered that there had been no speech. Because of Carter's call for justice in Palestine, he was deemed politically inconvenient, and there was no speech. There was a video tribute, a brief wave on stage, and the former President of the United States was whisked off the stage. How could they?! He is the finest President I've had in my brief tenure on this Earth. He was an early supporter of Obama in the primaries, albeit with a wink and a nod. Carter came out for Obama long before it was definitive. Carter's commitment to human rights and social justice makes his values far closer to those of Obama than the other former Democratic President who will be speaking tomorrow.
A hidden Carter was a mistake, and an insult.
Re: Pallywood's 'Free Gaza Boat'
The oppressive Hamas, Anti Freedom for anyone ab-uses the 'freedom' banner by being cruel to their own people to inflict destitute so they can be used to propagate.
August 2008
Pallywood was always good in 'language', from their frequent use of "freedom" to "resistance", while the siege on little Israel by its racist Arab neighbors goes on already for over 60 years, and recently Sderot under [real] siege from Gaza - Hamastan's missiles (Shall we call the missiles upon civilians intended to murder as "freedom missiles"?, those rockets that have a double edge sword, to harm innocent Israelis which Palestinian Hamas is bend on, plus to cause a defensive actions from Israel's security concerned forces to restrict Hamastan thus their beloved 'victim card' can have more teeth,) yet, it's rather the anti freedom (for anyone) the oppressive Islamic Hamas, that succeeded again in yet another "freedom" slogan, 'Free Gaza', those that seek to live and have their people live in misery to gain world's sympathy, have hit a jackpot, especially with some gullible "peace" activists.
The Gaza Boat Protest 1. Prior to the boats arrival along the Gaza coast:a. Israel is closely monitoring the flotilla. This action constitutes an intentional provocation. Consequently, Israel will do everything it can to prevent it.b. In accordance with the Interim Agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, which was supported by the international community, the Israel Navy is exclusively responsible for the safety and security of the maritime zones off the coast of Gaza.2. In the event that the boats will be allowed to proceed to Gaza:a. The campaign is orchestrated by a handful of agitators who tried to draw the State of Israel into a confrontation in the open sea, with broad media coverage. This is not an expression of concern for the residents of the Gaza Strip, but rather a political protest that serves only the Hamas and terrorism.b. This campaign is an intentional provocation undertaken by organizations and activists, some of whom have a long history of employing provocative tactics. Such groups, though flying the banner of human rights, are troublingly silent in the face of the gross violations perpetrated by Hamas which have caused so much suffering to Israelis and Palestinians alike. This action, which seeks to grant legitimacy to the Hamas terrorist regime, is immoral and flies in the face of the clearly stated position of the international community.c. Israel continues to reserve its right to determine regarding entry into the Gaza Strip. In this case, Israel merely decided not to be dragged into the provocation that the protesters so eagerly sought to instigate.d. Israel's policy remains unchanged, and it will continue to examine each case upon its merits. 3. Israel's humanitarian policy towards Gaza:Despite ongoing Hamas terrorism and attacks against the inland crossing points, Israel permits the transfer of large quantities of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip on a daily basis, and allows the passage of patients and accompanying individuals into Israel, and the West Bank for medical treatment. Consequently, there is no justification for this provocation. 4. Israels security policy vis--vis the Gaza Strip: The Gaza Strip under the Hamas regime has become a terrorist entity. Hamas smuggles and manufactures arms in a military buildup that is continuing despite the current state of calm, in blatant violation of the understandings laid out in the Egyptian initiative which established the calm.

_______
Slow Boat to Gaza--Radicals gather in Cyprus "to break the siege."...Mr. Monir Deeb, a native Gazan who has lived in Los Angeles since 1979, explained to the media that he was boarding these boats to reunite with his siblings in Gaza. Mr. Deeb described Gaza as a "peaceful community under Israeli military siege" and said that this small convoy was meant to deliver a message to Israel to stop the siege of Gaza. This reporter asked Mr. Deeb about the armed Gaza militias who have fired thousands of missiles over the past eight years against Israeli civilian communities that surround Gaza. I also asked for his comment on how the Hamas government is using the current cease fire period to regroup and train for the next attack on Israel. Mr. Deeb said that he "could not relate to this question," since it was "political" and his concern was "only humanitarian" in nature. The convener of the FreeGaza.org press conference, Ms. Greta Berlin, an American woman formerly married to a Palestinian whose family was dislocated from Safed in Northern Israel during the 1948 war, gave examples of the humanitarian mission on which they were embarking. One of her missions, she said, was to supply 9,000 hearing aids for Palestinian children who suffer hearing loss at a young age, due to Israeli missile attacks on Gaza. I asked Ms. Berlin if it were not the case that the missile attacks that she had claimed had been fired at Palestinians in Gaza by Israelis were actually fired by Palestinians towards the Western Negev, as they screech over Palestinian villages en route to hit Israeli civilian targets. Ms. Berlin would not comment, saying repeatedly that the purpose of the voyage to Gaza was not political, even though the press statement issued by FreeGaza.org touched every raw political nerve possible. FreeGaza.org also clearly stated that it strongly condemns Israel for not allowing "refugees and their descendants the right to return home" to the villages that have since been resettled by Israel after the 1948 war. Meanwhile, the "FreeGaza.org" press statement also decried "Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine," laying aside any pretensions that the group only favored Israel's full withdrawal from Gaza...

PalestinianPR Stunt Fails As Israel Allows Gaza Protest
All In A Day’s News...
by Gerald A. Honigman Along with other related articles, three covering the Middle East and North Africa caught my eye on April 26th.
The first was written by a journalist whom I have long admired--and I don’t admire many in the mainstream media.
I met Tom Teepen, now a syndicated columnist for Cox News, some three decades ago. I was visiting Cincinnati for a few days out of my Columbus office and had assorted media, university, and other visits, lectures, and televised debates scheduled. We have, on occasion, briefly touched base afterwards over the years.
Tom was editorial editor, I believe, for either the Cincinnati Post or Enquire. We spent a good deal of time reviewing the Middle East. Unlike too many others in the liberal camp, Tom still has maintained clear vision when it comes to Arab-Israeli politics. The real surprise was that my local newspaper published his op-ed. After many years of batting heads with the paper brass (first on my own, then with others), I’m finally noticing a bit more balance.
So, Tom’s Blaming Israel, Freelancing On Hamas--What Is Jimmy Carter Thinking? made it into the Daytona Beach News-Journal. He recapped Mr. Peanut’s recent hot date with Hamas in Syria, where Carter tried his best to make the deliberate disembowelers of Jewish babes and other innocents look good by getting it to provide him with some foggy cover for his non-stop assault on Israel, but Hamas--to its credit--wouldn’t let him. Headlines soon claimed, anyway, that Mr. Peanut achieved a breakthrough, with Hamas offering to ‘accept’ Israel.
When will they learn? Tom exposed Carter’s nauseating comedy act.
While an allegedly ‘born again’ Carter evidently doesn’t put much value in honesty, Hamas does. It has no--and will never have--any intention of granting Jews in one tiny state what Arabs demand for themselves in some two dozen others on over six million square miles of territory...including one already created from almost 80% of the original 1920 borders of Mandatory Palestine renamed ‘Jordan.’ The new state Arabs insist on creating on the ashes of Israel, not along side it, would be their second--not first--in ‘Palestine,’ the name the Roman Emperor Hadrian gave to Judaea after the Jews’ second costly revolt for freedom in 133-135 C.E. He renamed the country after the Jews’ historic enemies, the Philistines--a non-Semitic sea people from around Crete. Contemporary Roman historians such as Tacitus, Dio Cassius, and others wrote extensively about this themselves.
To most Arabs, the whole region is simply purely Arab patrimony...in their own words. As for the scores of millions of non-Arabs who have been conquered, massacred, and suppressed, Egypt’s past Uncle Tom Copt Foreign Minister, Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, perhaps said it best...accept forced Arabization and /or dhimmi status (like he did) or else. Copts were the native Egyptians conquered by Arabs after the 7th century C.E. along with numerous others.
As Mr. Peanut also knows, regarding the above, Hamas is no different than the alleged moderates of Abbas’s latter day Fatah Arafatians--regardless of how much whitewash he, Washington, and others throw upon them both. In order to force the Jews to play ball, a supposed Arab good cop had to be created to counter the State Department’s Arab bad cop.
Fatah (with as much, if not more, blood on its hands than Hamas) is simply more willing to play the Arabs’ well-known destruction in phases ‘diplomacy’ game vis-à-vis Israel to use petrodollar greased-international pressure to force Israel back to its pre-’67, 9-mile wide, armistice line--not border--existence to set it up for a combined Arab/Iranian final blow...something that UNSC Resolution 242 expressly stated was not to happen in the aftermath of the 1967 War.
But, Honigman, you say, you keep repeating these same points in many of your articles.
Yes, I do.
And as long as Arabs keep on repeating their lies and distortions, and morons or deliberate accomplices like Mr. Peanut do the same, those of us who care must repeatedly answer them. Their approach is if they repeat a lie often enough (and it goes unanswered), it will be accepted as truth.
Teepen did a good job with his short op-ed, especially since he has been a fan of Carter in the past. But let me continue to pick up yet a bit more where he left off.
With a new Presidential election approaching, I’ll never forget the last televised Democratic National Convention featuring ‘Apartheid Israel’ Mr. Peanut chasing ‘Israel is one of the top three evils in the world’ Michael Moore all over the convention floor. Closer soul brothers do not exist--unless you want to throw in a more slick Obama and the company he keeps to make a trio.
It was befitting that Carter visited Hamas in Syria, for Syria--not ‘Palestine’--was indeed the birthplace of Hamas’s patron saint, Sheikh Izzedin al-Qassam (for whom its ‘militant’ wing and rockets are named )...Latakia, to be exact. Of course, back then, many if not most Arabs in the area considered themselves to be southern Syrians, espousing one version or another of a Greater Syria plan. ‘Palestinians’ were the Jews.
Along with scores (if not hundreds) of thousands of others who poured into the Palestine Mandate (after the break up of the over four century old Ottoman Turkish Empire) due to its economic development by Jews, the Sheikh joined numerous other ‘native Palestinians’ who entered relatively recently from the latter 19th century onwards from Syria, Egypt, and elsewhere in rejecting the rights of Jews to do the same thing in any part of the ‘purely Arab patrimony,’ the Dar ul-Islam. Recall that half of Israel’s Jews were refugees from so-called ‘Arab’ and /or Muslim lands.
Moving on.
Article # 2, in the same paper, quoted Mahmoud Abbas complaining that, in his recent Washington visit, no one was talking about forcing Israel back to the ‘’67 borders.’
I do admit, that was a pleasant surprise.
While the State Department (and President Clinton and President Bush off and on) has tried its best to ignore 242’s call for the establishment of secure and recognized borders to replace Israel’s absurd 1949 armistice lines (which simply marked the point where Arab invading armies were halted upon Israel’s rebirth in 1948), Israel, despite the weakness of Prime Minister Olmert and his crew, has evidently made it clear that it took President Reagan’s words seriously when he stated on September 1, 1982:
In the pre-1967 borders, Israel was barely 10-miles wide...the bulk of Israel’s population within artillery range of hostile armies. I am not about to ask Israel to live that way again.
Not only were there mostly no Arab-Israeli ‘borders’ back then, but the Abbas/Arab claim that Israel is setting up settlements on Palestinian land has the same amount of truth in it as does the ‘67 border claim.
When Transjordan (army led by British officers)--created from most of the Mandate of Palestine in 1922--attacked Israel along with a half dozen other Arab states loaded with arms left over by the Allies in World War II in 1948, it seized Judea and Samaria...British imperialism’s west bank (of the Jordan River) as opposed to the Trans(’across’)jordanian east bank. Sir Alec Kirkbride, the Brits’ East Bank rep, wrote extensively about this in his A Crackle Of Thorns: Experiences In The Middle East.
The Arab land grab was illegal, only two nations recognized it. Still, Transjordan renamed itself Jordan, since it now held both banks, and saw to it that no Jews could reenter lands where their ancestors had lived and owned land for thousands of years until their massacres by Arabs in the 1920s and 1930s.
At the same time, huge numbers of Arabs continued to pour in...more Arab settlers setting up Arab settlements.
All together, so many Arabs were recent arrivals themselves into the Palestinian Mandate that the United Nations Relief Works Agency--UNRWA--had to adjust the very definition of the word ‘refugee’ from its prior meaning of persons normally and traditionally resident to those who lived in the Mandate for a minimum of only two years prior to 1948 when counting those who fled the fighting Arabs started upon Israel’s rebirth.
Contrary to the Arabs’ claim that these were ‘occupied Palestinian lands,’ Judea and Samaria were non-apportioned parts of the Mandate, and leading international legal authorities such as Eugene Rostow, William O’Brien, and others have stressed that these areas were open to settlement by Jew, Arab, and other residents of the Mandate alike.
How could you occupy lands taken from an illegal occupier?
The territory in question is indeed disputed...not occupied Arab lands a la Abbas, Hamas, and Mr. Peanut.
When Israel captured Judea and Samaria in the ‘67 War as a result of a bad decision by Jordan to join Egypt’s Nasser, Syria, and others in the Arabs’ latest attempt upon its life, it came to hold territory of the Mandate officially apportioned to no one...not ‘Palestinian’ land. The Arabs themselves rejected a proposed 1947 partition of the remaining 25% of the Mandate left over after the creation of Transjordan in 1922.
While I do not advocate Israel holding on to the entire area, certainly a reasonable territorial compromise which corrects the travesty of the ‘49 armistice lines--a la 242--is a must. And Judea--land of the Jews--must never become Judenrein again...unless Arabs are prepared to see the one-fifth of Israel itself who are Arabs--many hostile--get the boot as well. Such population transfers have indeed already occurred elsewhere. Consider those involving Turks, Greeks, and Bulgars, Israel’s Jewish refugees from ‘Arab’ lands, and India and Pakistan for starters.
Now, about those Jewish settlements Abbas complains about in that second article.
If Jews are to return to Judea and Samaria in the context of a 242-type territorial compromise, then how and where else will this come about if not by establishing/reestablishing Jewish towns and so forth--’settlements?’ Without the latter, Israel doesn’t get the former.
Article # 3...
The News-Journal finally gave the genocide in Darfur some of the attention it deserves...large front page article with maps and big pictures.
Unlike the Arab-Israeli mess, however, the perpetrators might as well have come from Mars. No where was the word Arab mentioned.
After the Arabs burst out of the Arabian Peninsula in the 7th century C.E. and forcibly Arabized millions of non-Arab peoples in the process, the Sudan (Nubia, etc.) held out for quite some time. In other parts of North Africa, native Jews aligned with Imazighen (’Berbers’) to resist this conquest as well. We’ll revisit this a bit later.
Back in the ‘60s, the first modern civil war broke out between the non-Muslim black African south and the Arab and Arabized (remember Dr. Boutros-Ghali’s comments above?) north in the Sudan.
Sudanese President Nimeiry’s stated during the slaughter of over a half million blacks at this time (and over a million more ever since) that...
‘the Sudan is the basis of the Arab thrust into...black Africa, the Arab civilizing mission (Arabism and Pan-Arabism in Sudanese Politics, Journal of Modern African Studies, Vol. 11, #2, 1973, pp. 177-78).’
Rudyard Kipling’s late 19th century poem, ‘The White Man’s Burden,’ supposedly typifies Western colonialist and imperialist attitudes towards the Third World. If that’s the case, then what does Nimeiry and the other example below, expressed in the Syrian Arab Constitution of the Ba’th, typify?
‘...The Arab fatherland belongs to the Arabs. They alone have the right to direct its destinies...The Arab fatherland is that part of the globe inhabited by the Arab nation which stretches from the Taurus Mountains, the Pacht-i-Kouh Mountains, the Gulf of Basra, the Arab Ocean, the Ethiopian Mountains, the Sahara, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Mediterranean Sea.’
Yet, the more recent full scale outbreak of violence in the Sudan in the 21st century has an even more revealing twist.
While earlier bloodshed there and elsewhere could largely be seen as modern extensions of the fourteen century-old clash between the Dar ul-Islam and the Dar al-Harb, the one in the Sudan’s Darfur (as those in Arab-occupied Kurdistan and much of the rest of North Africa) is mostly about Arab racism and chauvinism...pure and simple. You know, those folks who like to scream about ‘racist Zionism.’ Over a thousand years earlier, this led to the overthrow of the Syrian-based Arab imperialist Umayyad Caliphate.
So, in Sudan’s western region of Darfur, it’s Arab and Arabized versus black Africans...regardless of religion. Ditto for Arab versus Kurd, Amazigh, and so forth. These victims are mostly Muslims.
In Sudan’s largely non-Muslim south, it’s a combination of both Arab racism and the conquest of the Dar ul-Islam--as exemplified also in the expected subjugation and dhimmitude of Egyptian Copts, Lebanon’s Christians, Near Eastern Assyrians, and Israel, Jew of the Nations, and home to whom Arabs call ‘their’ kilab yahud...Jew dogs.
An Amazigh (Berber) publisher friend ( http://www.north-of-africa.com/ ) recently sent me a video produced by the highly respected Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). Its contents http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XROAu1cTcQ8 showed a debate on Al-Alam TV (Iran) on July 21, 2007over a new Berber-Jewish Friendship League set up in Morocco. Even more recently, Morocco has outlawed the creation of an Amazigh political party...especially since it espoused good relations with Israel.
Keep in mind that Morocco has had, relatively speaking and as an ‘Arab’ country, reasonable relations with Israel itself. Hundreds of thousands of Israeli Jews had their roots there. But the prospect of former and current fellow victims of forced Arabization getting together has implications for Arabs that even the Moroccans can’t allow. Much if not most of North Africa is of Amazigh--not Arab--descent.
Among other comments in that debate, the Amazigh spokesman pointed out that both Jews and Berbers predated the Arab conquest by thousands of years, fought long and hard against that conquest, and want nothing to do with Arab identity and forced Arabization. Keeping in mind that in modern times many Berbers have already been killed by Arabs for less, very brave words indeed.
To sum things up, those three news articles on April 26th were loaded with important material.
The problem is that, without further extensive explanation such as what I’ve attempted here, the issues are too complex for many readers to grasp.
Having said this, journalists and folks like ex-Presidents shoulder huge responsibilities and should therefore dig much deeper before commenting and pontificating a la Carter on such issues.
By the way, when’s the last time anyone heard Carter comment on any of the above non-Arab civil, political, and humanitarian issues?
If they don’t involve Arabs, he doesn’t want to know. And a look at the contributors to his library and such may explain at least some of Mr. Peanut’s Arab-colored vision.

George W. Bush, "DICK" Cheney, Karl Rove, Andy Card, and John McCain have pushed very hard to bankrupt the United States. Their reckless war is the equivelent of your parents going to Vegas and losing all their money. Their reckless disregard for environment has left us behind on energy efficiency. The top floating layer of ice in the arctic is expected to fully melt at some point this summer. Global warming is creating a growing sense of urgency, and dread for the future whereas once many believed the future would be superior to the past.
The future of our nation, and indeed Earth, does not have to be bleak. Luckily we have a shining ray of hope in Barack Obama. However, in my support for him, I look back to see if what he really wants to accomplish can be done. Although people have compared him to Former President Jimmy Carter for reasons of attitude and goals I will draw a different connection to him and portrait not only differences, but requirements to avoid failure.
Pending the election of senate seats to Alaska (Republican scandal removes alaskan senator!), the Democratic Party is very close to the golden 60. This refers to having a majority of senators, 60, in which voting along party lines presents a veto-immune environment. Coupled with a Democratic Congress, and a Democratic President one may begin to think everything is possible. The last time the senate had 61 democrats was in 1977. Coincidentally, this was when a man named Jimmy Carter took office with a fully capable senate.
During Carter's time he worked to create the Department of Energy to combat rising oil prices and to ensure the United State's independence from foreign oil. Although Carter shared some of the same energy goals Obama now aims at, as well as the goals all may hope for, they differ greatly in the enactment and action taken. As a side note, energy is really the only area where these two can be seen to overlap. Carter may have created the DoE, but he did not have the full support of his party to prompt any real change. Hefty 20 year goals were set.
First, the "Dependence Day" was never supposed to fall so early in the year. In 2008 I believe it landed on May 17th. According to Carter it should never have come before August to stay in line with a 40% target for importing foreign oil. Currently the amount of oil imported is roughly 57%.
The second, and in my opinion holy grail, goal was to increase solar power production to account for 20% of energy produced by 2000 (this goal being set in 1977). This was the major failure of not only Carter, but the entire country. 31 years later, THIRTY ONE YEARS LATER, our current solar power contribution is 0.1%. I have seen better results from third world countries in enacting national goals. However, to be fair I will shed some light on factors which hurt this process. We were in the middle of the Cold War, Carter inherited a very rough environment when taking office, the appointment of Volcker created a faltering financial market, and Soviets were beginning to be seen in Afganistan. Rough. All this meant solar got overlooked either in funding or in support.
Solar is the power of the future and it is the sole solution to our current situation. Solar has the power to unite the world. An interesting claim which I will offer support for.
Obama, much like Carter, has put a wide, unspecific goal of removing the influence of foreigh oil in 10 years. However, unlike Carter, Obama has the support of not only his party but a large amount of the opposing party as well. Obama's wide sweeping goal is hard to achieve. Not only must it ween us from foreign oil, but it must provide the hardest answer, an alternative. Luckily we here in the United States have the best researchers in the world. I love MIT. These guys are so great, they claim to have a viable solar solution which could produce 10 times the current amount of energy from PhotoVoltaic units. And yet, even if this solution existed in 1977, would it be feasible?
Let me answer my own question with another question: When is collection of energy from a seemingly limitless source not top priority?
Rhetorical...back to the point. Solar cannot currently be implemented as a main source of energy! Yikes, that sucks. Allow me to explain why. Infrastructure. It would take a lot of infrastructure to implement a solar solution but it has to be done. It must be done, there is no longer an alternative. In this jar, our sand is running out. In this globe, our air is running out as pollutants threaten to make current living situations a mute point.
As Barack Obama so eloquently put it, we are all citizens of the world. And we must come together now and make sacrifices. However, these sacrifices should not be in vain! No longer can we afford the likes of puppets, liars, cheats, and theives to run the greatest country in the world. We must build infrastructure. Solar collection can be difficult in places like New York and Michigan during the winter. Currently, Coal energy is produced locally nationwide and is a good source of raw energy. Coal is polluting the world we love, and killing the nature which we hold awe struck from its sheer beauty.
To work towards providing energy from solar collection to places which have hard times producing it we must build infrastructure. The United States is not set up to share large amounts of energy over long distances and this must be changed. Solar collection can provide enough energy, clean green country running energy. But this energy cannot currently be distributed. Long distance energy transfers must be made available in order to allow solar to become a viable energy source.
Just think, your house running off of a solar system which would cost close to the amount of one months current energy bill. A car, running off of a clean 0% emission hydrogen fuel cell. A hydrogen fuel station, distributing hydrogen fuel created from solar powered electrolysis. Full power, 0 emissions.
Currently, automobiles account for roughly 25% of global warming, coal another 40%. Many other factors go in to what creates global warming, but one thing is certain from the mere word, it is global. 6 Billion plus people are affected by this. For america to present a clear, viable, working solution to curbing emissions, and then to distribute it would truly put many of the most powerful nations in allegiance. Thus giving relatively free sustainable energy to the entire world.
In times of strife seperate people come together to fight a common enemy, or to work towards a common goal. It is now time for the "citizens of the world" to come together and unite against the threat of an Earth with no human population. We must unite, as one world, to solve this problem. And upon the United States delivering such a solution the world will truly have a reason to unite.
John McCain offers none of this. John McCain offers lies, deception, and the Karl Rovian tactics which has tainted the past 8 years of our national image. Obama is truly a visionary. Vote Obama '08.
Happy Birthday to the good Senator from Illinois!
It's kind of frustrating to read about the infantile name-calling and belittlement of ideas this campaign season. The Republican Party has been using the comparison of Barack Obama to Jimmy Carter as some kind of disparagement, which I find terribly ironic. It's true that Senator Obama is recommending some of the same energy conservation measures that President Carter did 30 years ago. It is also true that Carter was right. We've lost three valuable decades that could have been used to develop a sustainable national energy policy. Now Obama is right. We can't afford to be complacent and waste another 30 years. It doesn't matter if oil prices fall again. We need to change now.
With the elections (in Israel) over, and as the political machinations surrounding the formation of the new Israeli government reach their height, it is of note that in "apartheid Israel" (which is also accused by the Palestinians of "ethnic cleansing"), around 12 Arabs, Bedouin and Druze will sit in Jerusalem's 17th Knesset. That's 10% of the parliament. Exactly how many Jews are represented in the parliaments of Cairo, Rabat, Amman, Baghdad, Damascus or even Ramallah? http://dfrankfurter.livejournal.com/73264.html
