Thank you President-elect Obama and America for restoring my faith in our political system.
Thank you, John McCain, for an eloquent and gracious concession in the wake of your divisive campaign.
I wanted to share this awesome video with everyone!
Obama '08 - Vote For Hope from MC Yogi on Vimeo.
Well I had the pleasure of seeing Barack Obama today at Legend's Field in Tampa today. I am almost speechless, I have never been more inspired by any one candidate before. I have been a supporter of Barack's since 2004 when he gave the keynote speech at the DNC...fast forward to now and he is on the cusp of making history..I have already voted for Sen. Obama..as far as the rally goes, it was just so awesome..having the chance to talk to some of the people who were standing nearby, we traded stories of how we came to be in this same spot on this day to see this man who will be our next president. And then the place went insane, people cheering and yelling "YES WE CAN" over and over again..he is so charming and articulate and intelligent and he is so US..he is the people's president!
This incredible man will work for us..my sister and I were 5 feet from the podium..5 feet!! As he walked up to the stage, I could feel tears well up in my eyes..it was the culmination of 4 years..of this race..the debates, etc...I was so happy to be in this crowd and honored as well...to be among thousands of people who GET IT..just like Sen. Obama gets it..YES WE CAN..YES WE WILL!
This is all the media needs to know about how Obama will handle McCain and, especially, Palin (AKA: Caribou Barbie)
You better believe it!

The following editorial letter was sent to various newspapers around the country. It was written after reading other false statements people (who may be associated with the KKK or other hate groups listed by the Souther Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Alabama) had made spreading lies about Barack Obama with respect to his religion. Please feel free to share this letter with everyone to help support Barack Obama. Thank you!
Dear Editor,
Subject: Obama is a man of God
In America we enjoy freedom of press and religion, but that does not mean that the media can print lies about people or that you can preach lies from the pulpit and not have to account for your false statements. When lies are knowingly spoken and the liars are found out, then shame, ridicule, even libel may be the result. In the current presidential election there have been many lies spoken about the candidates. Some of the biggest lies have been spoken about Barack Obama. Some have said he is a Muslim. Some have said he is not a Christian. Some have even said he is terrorist. Yet these are all lies.If you want to know the truth about Barack Obama you should go to the source; go directly to Barack Obama's web site at www.barackobama.com. Read his speeches. Watch his videos. Listen to Barack Obama talk. Hear what he has to say. Learn about his life growing up in America. Learn about his history as an African-American. Learn about his wife, Michelle, his children, Malia, 9, and Sasha, 6, and their church, which happen to be the Trinity United Church of Christ. If you take the time to learn about Barack Obama you will discover that he is a Christian. He is a humanitarian and Civil Rights advocate. Barack Obama is also a very intelligent man who has devoted his life to public service and has had a remarkable career for such a young man. He is a 1991 Harvard Law School Graduate, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He served in the Illinois state senate for eight years and became only the third African-American since Reconstruction to be elected to the U.S. Senate. He is without a doubt one of the brightest shining stars upon the political horizon in America! It is shameful for people to be spreading lies about Barack Obama, to be causing people be afraid. I remember the same types of things being said about another rising star, about a young preacher in Montgomery, Alabama. His name was Martin Luther King, Jr., and members of KKK did not like what he was telling black people, that they had the same God given rights as white folk. So they started spreading all sorts of rumors to generate hatred and fear. It was these type of rumors which created fear and paranoia and eventually led to a sniper assassinating Dr. King as he stood upon the balcony of a motel in Memphis. That was a dark day for America and although only one sick and evil man pulled the trigger, we all let it happen by not speaking up against the lies spoken about this man of God.Barack Obama is NOT a Muslim. Barack Obama is a man of God. He happens to be a black man, an African-American, who, like Rev./Dr. King, is a very smart man with great promise. For this reason there are those who wish to destroy him, who are spreading lies, who are making people afraid, and who want you to hate this good man and public servant. These are evil people and their lies should not be allowed to take root and grow, for any harm which would thus come to Barack Obama, is harm to America.I therefore urge everyone who is curious about Barack Obama to go to the source, to visit his web site and learn about the man for yourself. Do not believe the lies others are speaking to make you afraid, to control your mind and how your vote. Barack Obama is NOT a Muslim; he is a Christian and a man of God. Barack Obama is also an America, a fellow country man, born in Hawaii, raised and schooled in these United States of America. As a child he spent some time with his family in Indonesia, which should be regarded as a plus, as exposure to other cultures is an educational experience that awakens and broadens young minds. That is, perhaps, one reason Barack Obama is not racially prejudice like many of his adversaries and Devil advocates who would like you to believe the lies they say about this bright, rising political star. The next time you hear someone say something bad about Barack Obama, or try to sway your vote by claiming he is a Muslim, a traitor, even a terrorist, please take the time to do your own research. Educate yourself and do not let ignorance be your guide. Do not let racial hatred or religious prejudice or other forms of intolerance be what makes you decide how you are going to vote. Also, if you are in a position to influence others, as is the case with church members, newspaper editors and broadcasters, please speak out against the lies you discover. Do not let those around you tarnish the reputation of a good man, be he black, white, Protestant, Catholic, Jewish or even Muslim. If a man is a good man, as represented by his work and his deeds, that man is one we should all respect and consider as our representative when we go to the poles.I believe Barack Obama is such a good man. This does not mean he is without fault or sin. We all have our faults and are sinners. But we also have been graced by God with a heart and a mind, with the ability to ask questions and seek the truth, seek the light, and seek to make the best choices for ourselves and our children. If we let ourselves be manipulated by those who play upon our prejudice, our fear, our ignorance, then we are not doing justice to our God, to our country or to ourselves. So please, when you consider how you are going to vote, go directly to the candidates and see what they have to say. Educate yourself and do not let those who would spread lies based upon hatred and prejudice control how you are going to act. The fact is, Barack Obama is a Christian, a man of God. Just because his father was born in Kenya and was a man of color, we should not hold that against him. Indeed, many historians now say Jesus Christ was a man of color. But whatever the color of his skin, Jesus Christ taught his fellow man to love, and I believe Barack Obama is following in his footsteps by devoting his life to public service and helping his country.Go to Barack Obama's web site at www.barackobama.com and see for yourself what this bright shining star on the political horizon has to say. Then decide for yourself if you want to follow the light or believe the lies other are spreading. I for one will not stand silent when hearing those lies, for this is my country too. Be it Kennedy or King, I've seen too many promising lights be shot out by hatred and prejudice. Let's not let the same thing happen to Barack Obama. He has a good heart, is a man of God, and a righteous American. That matters more than the color of his skin! Please, take the time and effort to learn about the presidential candidates and vote, not based upon lies, rumors or prejudice, but upon truth and enlightenment! If we all do that than our country will be in good hands, not just those of who wins the election, but in His hands, in God's hands!

So far, I'm hearing a lot of great news from Wisconsin! I didn't even feel as good about Virginia as I do about Wisconsin. You have to understand - people in Wisconsin are A) very nice and polite B) thoughtful and likely to vote and C) smart. This adds up to a win for us. :)
Here are some sites where you get news from the ground up: MAL Contends, Milwaulkee Journal Sentinel, Capital Times, DailyKos, Wisconsin State Journal.
Honestly, looking at them all, the news seems very pro-Obama, except in the Milwaulkee JS, which seems to be trying to give every candidate balanced coverage. My favorite quote comes from the Wisconsin SJ: "OK, so we all know Madison is a bastion for liberalism. And this primary is a much tighter race on the Democratic side, drawing more attention and excitement. But c'mon, where are all the Republicans? After five straight people exiting the polls here said they voted for Obama, Neil Kosterman, 61, emerged to say that he voted for McCain."
Obama '08!
A big alamObama "hello" to our new friends, old friends and volunteers of all types... Many thanks for making our Holiday Open House a huge success! Please take a look at the festive photos taken by Bob Scott. No doubt, you'll recognize the Host and Hostess of the evening. http://www.bubbleshare.com/album/283654.8472c7e8539
Now, it is time to put the alamObama pedal to the metal (aka: "the intense urgency of NOW!").
Action Alert:
1. We need volunteers to make phone calls to students at the University of Iowa Wednesday, Dec 19 and Thursday, Dec 20 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the alamObama office (301 Broadway Suite 106...free parking in the lot attached to office. The office door is on 3rd Street across from St. Mark's Episcopal Church parking lot.) We will be making phone calls to invite these students to caucus for Obama. note: Students are likely to be the secret weapon of the Iowa Caucus. (Please bring your cells phones & chargers just in case AT & T still hasn't found our office.)
2. MLK March on Monday, Jan 21- We have a goal of 200 Obama marchers and need help with recruitment. Are you signed up? This is a KEY Visibility event because it is scheduled between the Nevada Caucus on Jan 19 and the South Carolina Primary on Jan 26.
Please contact Jen Romo (jenromo@msn.com) to get a list of local Obama supporters to call about the MLK March. You will be provided with a script to help with these calls and they may be made from home :-)
Future Alert:
1. If you are interested in joining a Voter Registration Team (VRT), we will be building and training new teams the week of Jan 6. Details tba in a future email. note: Voters who want to participate in our Texas Primary on March 4 must be registered by Feb 4.
2. We are working on plans for roadtrips to Feb 5 states (most likely Oklahoma on weekend of Jan 12-13 and Arkansas on weekend of Jan 26-27). If you are available, please contact Judy Hall for details (profjh@hotmail.com).
Fun Alert:
Several of our alamObama volunteers will be traveling to Early States to help. They will be sending photos and diaries of their experiences back to San Antonio.
