I am Joe the Plummer, I am an Average Joe. I am a young adult who would like to talk about the political issues on my mind. Three topics cross my mind when i write this, those are : Education, Equality, Essential needs. The three E's if you would like to call it.
Education is very important it is the ground work for America's future. It teaches our children acedemic knowledge but other things too.Like how to be a leader, how to ask questions and how to find awnsers to those questions. I attend school in Clark County Nevada. I am not going to lie about how great my school is. I believe we are very behindin our learning. I have no experince in other states or even counties so i can't speak for everyone. The "No Child Left Behind" is bringing to many people back. It is not the schools fault if the child does not learn. By lowering the standards to meet everybodys needs is rediculous. Alot of my peers dont learn anything becuase everything is so below. I say raise the standards the kids that dont make them dont give up, dont make them repeat a grade send them off to the next grade and let them get on with their lives. As for budgets stop paying the heads of the districts and pay the schools. At my School we have cut the many differnt things, cut back on supplies other things like that just to balence things out. If you want your children to succeed do somthing about the education. Even just volunteering at a school can make a differnce. If you see a problem start with your self, then your family, then your friends, then your cominity then go beyond that and try to solve the problem.
Equality, that is a big topic to talk about. Let me start by saying the first immigrants came to America for two reasons : Religous Freedom and Economic freedom. They wanted to be away from the people who forced them away from things they wanted to do. History repeats its self over and over again someone or a group of people think somthing is unfair and they do somthing about it. Thats exactly what i want to do. Exactly for that same reason of Religous Freedom i believe that Religoin shouldnt be brought into the government. Like President Bush's proposal to end homosexual marrige. People get married all the time, I live in Las Vegas people come here to get married all the time. But is it fair that two men or two woman cant get married? No its not i know lifes not fair but for a country that wants to make everything fair i belive that should be changed. Some things have changed but it took a long time. almost 200 years after the America became its own country we had our first African American President. Almost 100 years till Women got their rights. Everything must change. if you are the most hard headed to the most open minded person you got to admit that things need to change.
Essentail needs, health insurance, a house, a job. all these things people need to surivive in this fast paced country. We are in hard times. alot of these things are really hard to get if you dont already have them and if you do already have them its harder to keep them. People are natural jealous. Rich people buy big cars and homes so the middle class try to keep up but end up getting flipped upside down. Many are homeless, many are jobless, and many are sick but cant pay hospital bills. we need to change things.so if you do believe like i do please help out. Try your best get things going try to to turn us around. We've been through tough times before but we've made through them. we will do it agian.once all our troops are out of iraq things will turn around just like in the depression. I'masking you to believe. not just in my ability to bring about real vhange in Washington...T'm asking you to believe in yours ~ Barack Obama

A lot of people are counting on you and need you to win in November. I already believe in you but many people remain on the side lines, to busy with their lives to care. But people do hear sounds bites and snippets of talk on the news. This is the YouTube generation where a single sound bite or video can change people’s perceptions. Perception is reality weather is it true or not. Here are the things an average citizen thinks you should do. You can choose to ignore this advice and listen to people around that are suppose to know what’s best for you. Or you can follow my advice which the perspective of the average Joe.
1) Fire your debate prep team - or at the very least, re-assign them
2) Please stop complementing John McCain about his war record. Why are you giving the opposing team a free layup before the game even begins? Everyone knows he was a POW. If they don’t, I’m sure he will remind them. He doesn't seem to reciprocate your kindness.
3) Remind them drizzle down economics don’t work. But a flood from the ground up will raise all boats. Yes I know its trickle down economics, but you need sound bites.
4) Make it personal. Ask John how giving him tax cut is going to help the economy -- and I don’t mean tipping the person at the bar on your way out.
5) Please stop saying um -- yes I do it as well, but it seemed like you are rehearsing your lines in your head before you say them.
6) Be short and sweet - such as you were before them before you were against them
7) Stop pretending this is a debate club where one is polite and has to follow rules. The Republicans are using scorched earth tactics on you.
8) Tell people this is the past vs. future - or what was and what could be. John’s ideas may have worked 26 years ago but they don’t work in an age of computers and iPods and blackberries.
9) Role play with Biden. Yes every vote counts and he needs to be on the trail, but in an age of teleconferencing, you need to be debating him.
10) A debate is there to show your differences – not what you agree on. Yes I know you heard that one a million times. But if you agree with him son much, why should they vote for you if he knows what he's talking about. You’re not on his staff and he doesn’t pay your bills
11) Get angry - no not militant angry but a type of angry that makes you mad when you see average people hurting -- pain empathy I call it. Master the Clinton. Senator Clinton only got her Mojo back when she got angry.
12) Did I say let go your debate prep team? All jest aside, I'm sure they work really hard like all of your staff. but you need to stop defensively reacting and go on the attack. We both you can do better than this. You need to say to Dear John that disagreeing with your parties’ leader 10 percent is more like credit card teaser rates. Its good until the credit card statement comes due. Tell him what he and Bush agree on and what you disagree on – put on the defensive. Yes remind people that ideas like his belong in a museum where the rest of the worlds failed policy ideas belong.
I will end this with two more quotes from General Patton in which he was speaking about fighting wars. These quotes can be applied to any fight whether it be a battle fields of ideas or a physical fight.
