Well, I am displeased to hear this, unless of course Obama was directing his attack towards the corporations and not the people. It is sad to say, but in this economic crisis, big coporations making billions of dollars profits, need to stand by their country, and support the failing infra-structure.

It is not by forcing the poor people, who work so hard , but cant afford the legal representation or accounting council to find all the loopholes, that should be targeted. Too often I find myself watching as the poor get poorer and ...well you know how it goes. Britney Spears is making millions, is she paying millions too in tax, or is there a glitzy accountant following her around calculating everything that can be deducted.

I would love to see a flat rate for people (corporations are a different matter) , that way less energy, effort,time and money is invested in making this happen. Think about it, no deductions, no receipts, no time wasted calculating, no time wasted getting documents, or contacting accountants that charge you through the nose to break even. If we had a flat 20% of whatever you did make, poor would not be poorer, then the rich.

They would be even. We would have alot more money in our coffers, because for once the rich would be paying the FULL amount,.....remember no deductions...so from 100 million dollars for one person's gain in a year (Arnold Schwarzenegger) would equal about 20 million for the US! Thats it thats all. No extra wasted money on the government figuring out new ways for people to pay, and have that side lined by another loop hole.

Why not, I ask you....why not? The person making 10$ an hour, does not have to worry about spending extra money to make all the weird calculations, to figure out this and that , and just pay an even 20%, easy! The rich guy, wont have the luxury of avoiding paying anythnig, because now, even with the best accountants, it wont matter....he still pays 20$

"Many people took out loans they were never going to be able to afford,
never! That means somebody knew from day one they were never going to
be able to pay back the loans." The bankers approved these loans and used the money to pay themselves bonuses and payed our government representatives to look the other way…that’s where we are…any suggestions for getting us out of the mess are welcome…but if you just want to play the blame game…where does that get us?

The New Poor

A story that examplifies the current economicsituation. I was on work assignment in a southern city. I was riding along with a couple of friends I had met from other places around the US. One of them spotted a beggar in the middle of the medium. He made a comment like, “You mean to tell me that guy can stand on the medium all day but he can’t get a job?” I was in the process of slamming on my breaks to stop next to him. The cars occupants were ushering me on out of some form of embarrassment. The one guy says to me, “were you really going to give that guys money?” I said “No way!” Confused I explained to them that I was going to ask him, “What are your financial secrets to success?”

Amazingly that didn’t get any one of them less confused. I explained, “that guy is much wealthier then I am.” There is no way that guy can get credit with no job. What he has is all his. Now me, I have a house mortgage the bank owns, School loan the government owns, two car loans the credit union owns, and $15,000 In credit card debt that I own. If the banks called in both of our accounts at the same time (mine and the street beggar), he would be around $180,000 richer then I am. Each day I slip a little further behind him. Each dollar puts him further ahead. I think the general consensus was that I was smoking something and should really share. I am used to that. Read More »

Greetings,

My Name is Rev. David Strickler. Let me give a brief introductory on myself in case my letter, even after I proofread it, is lacking in continuity or cogency. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and my party affiliation is Independent. I am into my fourth year of continual recovery from a major embolic stroke that affected my left side and higher cognitive functions along with some left side paralysis that remains plus the traumatic brain injury that comes with this medical territory. I write a bimonthly news letter that gives social/spiritual commentaries on the net called SPIRITUAL CLIMATE NEWSLETTER (not that I consider or think myself to be anyone special or to advertise but to give you some tangible link to some of my writings and those of my contributors; I am no one important) although myself and my contributors have not published for 8 months due to re-evaluation.

Being 49 years old and having suffered a major embolic Stroke in late August of 2004, I am disabled and luckily surviving on SS Disability since I am not an investor: I have left over nerve damage which includes visual, auditory balance and cognitive issues called executive function damage. It took me over a year to add and subtract along with being able to handwrite and type, while over two years to be able to play the guitar for 15 minutes. On ‘good’ days I am allowed to drive but I am house bound a great percentage of the time. Fortunately, I did not come home from a senseless war without limbs but I do understand how traumatic brain injury works. Gratefully, I had health insurance; I am alive and have discernment, can walk, talk and I am able to continue to minister the spiritual needs of the small group of professionals and lay people that I have the privilege to steward their skills in spiritual discernment and activity. Hopefully this letter is cogent and organized properly.

To give you a minute perspective on my paradigm: I state to my students and ministry that Religion used to vindicate insanity is not longer religion; it is then being used as a cover or redirection of attention away from economic and political agendas suited for those who expropriate individuals of their human rights and freedom. Lastly, I consider it arrogant and monomaniacal for any individual who considers themselves religious to call what we do with wars and expropriation of citizens, the ‘Will of God’. I call it the ‘Will of Damaged People ‘enslaving with Usury and Feudalism. Just as I tell many those who pray for 'the end of times' are really Cowards and only Christian by name; "But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father alone. [Mark 13:32]" I tell people, God’s Libel and Slander suit is going to be very interesting to say the least.

I am privileged to serve as a minister and steward the spiritual needs for a small group of mixed professionals in the Phoenix area. My ministry resembles the Rabbinical Tannaim (70-200CE) in its function: many of the Tannaim worked amidst the people as laborers, teachers and legislators for example. My passion other than music is applied spiritual philosophy and teaching Qabala (long before Madonna knew of the word) its pragmatic application and whatever grasp of truth I continually discern towards that I am able to explicate clearly. The main thrust of my ministry is the further development, enhancement and honing of Discernment, the Hebrew letter Zayin (“Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth, I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. [Matt. 10:34] ), the ability to see clearly the erroneous premises upon which perception may be rendered, to cut through the falsehood and wash the mirror of the mind to reflect clearly the genuine reality veiled by the shadows created by limitations of our senses (sense perception) as they stand in relation to the external world.

Some of what I consider outstanding, lucid articles I am providing here contain factual economic history instead of the pure half baked gaming/casino investment/speculative derivative fallacies of people whose morals, economic ethics and lack of Principles, whose sanity should be called into question such as: Alan Greenspan, George Soros, Phil Gramm, Felix Rohatyn, George Schultz and Rothschild’s to name a small few, do more than just loot markets, steal pension funds, expropriate citizens and put American Infrastructure up for sale; they run their own nations and wars: Did you know that Alexander Lomaia, Georgian National Security Chief, a longtime top executive of George Soros operations in Georgia, now overseeing the country's military operations to name one of many? During the period of times 2003-2004, Lomaia was Executive Director of the [Soros Foundation] Open Society Georgia Foundation.

Pay particular attention to Dr. Michael Hudson highlighting the repeal of the GLASS STEAGALL act as the policy change that set part of the stage for the engineered mortgage and financial expropriation entitled, THE GAME IS OVER, THERE WILL BE NO REBOUND. Drawing from empirical evidence Economic History instead of the speculative, gaming, derivative, statistical THEORIES of the University of Chicago economists, Professor Hudson's Lucid commentary is something that I hope Joe Biden and Barack Obama will seriously make a note of by taking action with such a simple solution, for, as I wrote to Senator Schumer who appeared to deny the removal of GLASS STEAGALL was at root of the problem, my generic comment to him was "I can't believe you stated that on Cspan. With all due respect Senator Schumer, you left me with the impression that Politicians must think we are all stupid out here, and I beg to differ with you".
