Barack Obama drew a crowd of over 100,000 at a rally in Denver on Sunday, the AP reports:
The Obama campaign released an initial crowd estimate of 75,000 people. That was later upgraded to "well over" 100,00 people, a tally confirmed by a Denver police spokesman.
The setting, on a sparkling day in this battleground state, said perhaps more than Obama did in his actual speech. His campaign is capitalizing on the scope of such rallies to get people to cast votes early, permitted in Colorado and more than two dozen other states.

We now get word that the Mavericky one- John McCain decided to upgrade his VP pick.
I'm curious...
How does a campaign who doesn't hesitate to call Sen. Obama an elitist get away with such pricey items?
Was Gov. Palin's Alaskan chic not chic enough for the RNC?
Who paid for this new and improved wardrobe? It seems like the taxpayers (except Joe the Plumber, since he owes OH about $1,100 in back taxes).
Here is the biggest question of all... How is the average person supposed to feel, when they look around and see their refrigerator a little less full, or peek at the gas tank and see that needle never reaching the "F" because getting to the "F" costs too darn much, see their 401K drop like a lead balloon-
How are we supposed to feel when we are experiencing these very difficult economic times and then... word comes out that Sen. Maverick is rolling in so much of taxpayer dough that he has plunked down $150,000 to make his VP look "hot"?
How are we supposed to fee?
We should feel like voting for Sen. Barack Obama.
See you at the polls!
Some commentators have claimed there is a double standard being applied to Sarah Palin regarding visual image because she is a woman. The issue is not the importance of visual image - it is important. It is important whether you are man or a woman (as Nixon / Kennedy proved). There is no double standard in play. The issue is the obscene and lavish spending from the party that promises fiscal discipline. The issue is the hypocrisy of the Republican Party's positioning of the Palin family as small town 'real' America and then taking the Palin family on a Pretty Women-esque dream shopping spree at stores (like Saks) that are only accessible to a tiny percentage of the population - the very portion of the population, ironically, that would most benefit from McCain's tax policy.By any objective measure $150,000 on clothing for a single family (even one with 5 children) is obscene and gratuitous.
I didn’t get to hear much of Obama today, the news seem to be more concern with the exorbitant spending of Palin of cloths and makeup these last 3 months. Barack did manage to convene a press conference with his chief security advisors after he met with them. At this meeting he was able to dispel thoughts that the meeting was called together only because of Joe Biden’s comments about the early testing of Obama if he is elected. He also addressed the issue once there but was not able to lay this ill-timed comment to rest.

Legal disbursement of public money
Extravagant spending to outfit she and her family
Exceeding $150,000 in the three months since
Starting her campaign for Vice President and hence
Brings some questions into the public’s eye
Unreasonable to parade the maverick guy
Running around claiming to cut unnecessary spending
Giving back to the people the excess in overtaxing
Vetoing and further attempt for politician to get
Incremental draw downs for their states budget
Restricting the pork barrel and ear mark money
Golden parachutes and roads paved with honey
In comparison this excessive façade contradicts
New idea and attitudes of these self proclaimed mavericks
In these 13 days remaining before we elect a new leader
America must discern the change champion from the imposter
Unlicensed plumber Joe Wurzelbacher of Holland, Ohio is worried... about some day buying the small unlicensed residential plumbing company where he works and eventually making over $250,000 a year? I'm an IT guy, and I'm so worried about paying the taxes if I ever buy Microsoft...
Something smells fishy, or is that just a stopped up toilet?
Plumber Joe Wurzelbacher watches the presidential candidate debate in his home in Ohio on Oct. 15, 2008. (Lori King/Toledo Blade)
By Robert BarnesJoe the Plumber is not exactly a plumber and he's "not even close" to making the kind of money that would result in higher taxes from Democrat Barack Obama's proposals.
Such is the whirlwind of information that has come out about Joe Wurzelbacher of Holland, Ohio, since Republican John McCain made him famous in last night's debate. McCain mentioned him more than 20 times to use him as a symbol of hard-working Americans who would be hurt by Obama's tax policies. Obama and Wurzelbacher met earlier in the week in Toledo, where Wurzelbacher said Obama's plans to raise taxes on those making $250,000 a year or more would penalize him in his plans to buy the plumbing business for which he works.
Wurzelbacher since then has been on Fox News, interviewed by CBS's Katie Couric and appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America."
Not all the attention has been welcomed. Wurzelbacher, 34, told the Associated Press that he was not a licensed plumber. Because he works for a small company that does residential work, he said, he doesn't need to be licensed.

Barack Obama is going to raise taxes for those earning $250,000 or more. What is he going to do about the Alternative Minimum Tax? If a person holds two jobs and makes bonuses for hard work and long, long hours, they will be "punished" if their reimbursement happens to push them over the 250,000 mark. Let's not lump people who make $250,000 annually as "rich" and therefore needing to be squeezed. If you live in any big city in California or New York or Virginia, etc., you could be paying $2000 minimum for RENT - not even a mortgage - and that's not even in a great neighborhood. New York City is outrageous, as is any big city in California. What's with that particular cut off?
I support Obama for many reasons, but feel he is strident and not balanced on the tax issue. Punishing people for working hard while holding multiple jobs is unreasonable. Taxes really should be a major topic of this election, because it affects everyone who works.
Hi 1,000,000 Americans for Obama (and all other groups I belong to).
Senator Barack Obama has proven, more then anyone else in recent history how individual Americans working together as a group, giving small donations, can make a huge difference.
Let's help him make that point.
Donate $1 each to Steve Sulkin's Fundraising Page and we CAN make a difference.
WE CAN RAISE $1,000,000.
BELIEVE IT - this can work, we can together raise $1,000,000
And here’s the bonus beyond the $1,000,000:
It will give Senator Obama tremendous press, as it will be the “Sound Byte of the Month” that epitomizes the fact that indeed, average Americans, not special interest groups and lobbyists, $1 at a time, are backing Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States.
This is a simple, doable project - let's do it! I'll keep you all apprised.
- Steve Sulkin
It’s official, Barack Obama is a man of—and for—the world.
After visiting dignitaries and citizens in Israel and the West Bank, Obama made a stopover in Germany where he told a cheerfully adoring crowd of more than 200,000, that we are one voice in this world. “Tonight, I speak to you not as a candidate for president, but as a citizen — a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen of the world,” he said at the expansive Tiergarten park in Berlin Thursday.
The Berlin crowd seemed genuinely enamored by the man whose cries of unity, irrespective of race, background, faith or homeland, have made him an enigma all over the globe.
Obama stressed that the world nations coming together was not an option, if we plan to survive this world-in-crisis. “It is the one way, the only way, to protect our common security and advance our common humanity,” the Senator exclaimed.
Meanwhile, John McCain and his campaign this week were vastly overshadowed in the media by Obama’s international flavor. McCain even opined that Obama’s time on the worldwide stage was presumptuous and ill-timed. The Republican contender claimed he wouldn’t have made such a trip until he was no longer a presidential candidate, but had been seated as the actual commander-in-chief.
Some local German papers were also a little suspicious of Obama’s visit. The media there expressed some concern that an Obama presidency would mean a call for Germany to contribute more combat troops in bolstering the battle in Afghanistan. A very unpopular war among citizens there, Germany has faced growing international pressure to redeploy troops in aiding the U.S.-led battle against the Taliban.
Still, Obama, graceful and in full rock-star mode, continued to preach his view of one world for all men. “The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand. The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down.”
Today (Friday), the Democratic presumptive took his plea for international unity to France, where he’s already met with President Nicolas Sarkozy. “Human rights must prevail [in Afghanistan],” Sarkozy adamantly protested during their joint press conference, even hinting that France may up their current redeployment efforts in that war-torn region.
Next up, Britain.

The company I work for, XPLANE, is a visual communication company that typically works with Fortune 500 companies to explain their complex processes with visuals. We thought it would be interesting to create a graphic to show how Barack Obama, a virtal unknown a couple of years ago, was able to tap into the power of social networking to support his campaign for change. <img>http://www.xplane.com/obama/
I am an early supporter of Barack and, as many others, have starting worrying about the current economy. I am a small business owner and I am the sole proprietor. The income I make from my business is filed under my personal tax returns.
I employee 3 people and 4 of the 5 past years I have been fortunate enough to make more than $250,000 per year.
I'm hoping that someone reading this blog can precisely explain the income tax policy differance between Barack and McCain and how I will personally be affected should I continue to work hard, grow my business and make $250,000 or more a year.

Barack received a beautiful 75,000 + turnout in Portland Oregon. Watch the entire speech:

One can just feel the excitement that was going on there by looking at the pictures.
I can't imagine what it must have felt like to Barack Obama as he looked at the crowd in Portland, Oregon yesterday.
75,000 people! That is an amazing number! The rally in Philadelphia was huge, when 35,000 people came to Independence Mall.
What must Barack have thought? What would possess 75,000 people to come out and cheer for Obama?

Yes, to answer the question. He KNEW. He (and Michelle and everyone around them) KNEW there would be mornings like this when they started this campaign. There would be mornings that they'd have to work 3 times as hard and be even more open when the eyes of others would be even more suspicious.
They knew that there would be mornings that the questions would be about 'spin' and 'impact' and 'media cycles'. They simply knew that there would be mornings that the spotlight would be on them twisting something that they would not be able to untwist with a 10 second sound bite.
They knew sometime fairly recently that their approach to grassroots campaigning was working... and so when a crisis would come to pass, to maintain their transparency and communication since the media didn't do such a good job in getting the entire message out (time being the biggest crunch) they would have to turn to this army of volunteers.
In his video regarding Rev. Wright, Obama is clear about this. He asks us to help him. Will you? What can you do?
Talk - commit to talk to at least 100 people. Wear an Obama Tshirt, put up a sign and a bumper sticker on your car. Chat with people at the store and the park and the library. Buy his books and loan them to people around you. Write postcards to send to a group in Ohio (contact me and I will forward the info to you) to be forwarded to homes in PA. Phone bank. TALK to people.
Help end the misinformation about all of this distraction.
If someone questions you about Obama's religion... answer them proudly and then ask them what church does Hillary attend? Or McCain? That despite their long years in politics, you've never heard that aspect of their lives scrutinized.
I've not been inclined to believe that this campaign is all about race but when I consider that question. That people are so worried about Obama and his 'beliefs' while blindly accepting Hillary's and McCain's... well?
My fundraising campaign is now up and running folks, thanks to a generous & special lady. I still believe that I can get to my target of $ 1,000 before Aug 2008.
Good Morning Everyone!
WOW!!! I'm still smiling after Obama's sweep yesterday! Now, on to Maine! A recent poll indicated that Clinton had a "slight" edge in that state. Therefore, the goal is for Obama supporters to get busy and make 10,000 calls to Maine TODAY!!! We're shooting for 40,000 overall. So, get FIRED UP and let's get busy!!! Denise
I want us all to back up and think about that number for a second. That's the most people that have ever donated to one political campaign in a single month. That's the most money raised in a single month. This is a real change considering that Barack accepts no money from lobbyists or PACs. This is the people rising up and saying "YES, WE CAN!" I am proud that I am one of those people.

Yesterday, my attention was drawn to an article in the LA Times by Scott Martelle, titled: "Clinton eyes Obama fundraising threat”. In the fifth paragraph of the article, Mr. Martelle wrote: "The second quarter ends Saturday, and campaigns routinely jockey in the final days of a reporting period to influence how their reports will be perceived. For instance, if Obama now reports less money raised than Clinton's $27 million that could affect perceptions of his momentum in the race for the Democratic nomination."
Mr. Martelle associates perception of momentum with amount of millions raised (even if it was contributed by 25 millionaires) rather than the number of voters (hundreds of thousands in fact) who have put their money where their mouth is by making donations of even a widow's mite. How could anyone not clearly see the big picture? How could the media so clearly miss the big picture. See, this is the problem with getting used to mediocrity to the point of accepting it as normality. By literally rehashing the old campaign meme of "It’s all about the Money", the author displays the media's inability to catch up with the pace of Obama's change-making. I don't blame them. Washington has a way of turning good people into cynics and skeptics and lovers of the status-quo. But this time can be different. This time, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PEOPLE.
In a democracy, everyone gets a single vote, regardless of how much money they earn or are able to contribute to a campaign. And I'd like to think that if you truly believe in a candidate and want them to do well, you would support them with whatever you can afford [even a $5]. That's exactly what over a quarter of a million Americans are doing for Senator Obama.
That over 254,000 voters (at time of posting) have so far donated to the Obama campaign, demonstrates an appetite for real change and new leadership in America. David Plouffe writes: "The sheer number of people who own a piece of this campaign proves that we can change the old game of money-for-influence politics."
As Gregory Smith rightly put it, "Change is in the air and I truly believe that that change is Mr. Obama". People have decided to go under the leadership of Senator Obama and they're demonstrating that with their money, because your money represents your time and your sweet. One donor, Amber James said it is harder to get five dollars from a student than it is to collect thousands from a lobyist. But all across the country, students and people of all works of lives are donating their hard-earned 5, 25, 50, 100 dollars and Senator Obama is humbled by their donation.
This is a movement that has never been seen before in the history of American politics and Americans cannot afford to be simply observers on the sidelines.
If you haven't heard already, we just hit 250,000 donations for the year. That's a huge number. Let's make sure to pile it on. If you have donated anything yet, I'd urge you to make a donation at whatever level you can, even if its $5.
There comes a time when we all must stand up and speak out. That time is now.
Our county needs us. For the last six year's the country has gone in the wrong direction on just about every issue. War. Spying. Torture. Extraordinary Rendition. Signing statements. Record Oil Profits.Illegitimate Elections.
Bush forgot to mention this when he told us he was a "uniter, not a divider."
