Florence
With less than 70 days to go until the South Carolina Primary on January 26, supporters and staff all across the Pee Dee, from Myrtle Beach to Cheraw, took some time out of their Saturday to celebrate everything they've already done and will be doing in the weeks and months ahead to make sure Barack Obama is the next President.
Joining the festivities in Florence was
Congresswoman Gwen Moore
from Milwaukee, WI, who, in addition to enjoying some delicious Pee Dee
chicken bog
and
barbecue
, had a great time meeting and speaking with the dedicated supporters who came out.
A single mother who put herself through
Marquette University
and spent 14 years in the Wisconsin State Legislature before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2004, Congresswoman Moore's story about a triumph over the odds, a story that, she said, is increasingly difficult to imagine in today's America. While many other candidates courted her for her endorsement, she decided to stand behind Barack because she knew that he is
committed to reversing policies that keep so many young people trapped in a cycle of poverty
.
While the discussion she had with the folks in Florence was more than energetic, the highlight of the afternoon was definitely the dancing she did with those brave enough to get on the dance floor her before she spoke. While he might do
pretty well for himself on Ellen
, I have no doubt Congresswoman Moore does an even better 'Electric Slide' then Barack.
