Thousands of UCC members listened to Barack speak on faith and politics yesterday in Hartford.
Barack spoke of our collective moral obligations to fight poverty, end the war in Iraq, and restore civil liberties-- and at several points, the entire audience at the Civic Center rose to their feet.
Throughout the day, dozens of passionate Obama supporters tabled outside of the conference, distributing literature and sharing their stories of why they got involved in the campaign. After Barack's speech, hundreds flocked to the tables and signed up to be a part of this movement for change.
One of the tablers told me that a pastor came up to her after Barack's speech and told her: "You know, his speech was wonderful, but what really impressed me more than anything was this: after he spoke, the first thing he did was thank his sign language translator and acknowledge the deaf members in the audience. That really showed me what kind of human being he is."
If you or anyone you know is deaf or hard of hearing, let them that they can watch our videos on Barack TV in closed captioning by going to www.BarackObama.com/closedcaptioning.
And thanks again to all of our terrific grassroots supporters, especially Val, who helped organize forty volunteers in Hartford this weekend.
