Barack was in town Friday talking about the deadline for One-Stop Early Voting and the important work that we have accomplished these past 17 days. Over 300,000 Democrats have voted, and tens of thousands of new voters have registered and gotten involved in the Democratic process.
Now we are in the final push before the election this Tuesday, we need everyone working to get out the vote. Watch this video from Barack and then
sign up to Get Out The Vote.
We need everyone getting involved in the last three days.
Don't forget to help us Get Out the Vote. It's the most important thing you can do for Barack in these next 3 days.

To all Democrats, Independents, Undecided, Republicans, and former supporters of other candidates:
Welcome one, welcome all
Listen up and heed the call
Our time is now, join in the fun
This campaign is indeed for everyone
You may hesitate, you may even be shy
You might even be tempted to tell a white lie
But one thing we know for certain to be true
This election is all about me and you
Remember now, all this noise will be soon pass
All the confusion and bother, it will not last
We all want to be content in this beautiful land
Let's do this together, oh YES, WE CAN!
ONE LOVE, y'all!
Never give up, never give in
Keep the faith, keep HOPE alive!

Zogby Poll: Obama Holding Lead in NC; Race Still Deadlocked in Indiana
Democrat Barack Obama of Illinois holds a nine point lead in North Carolina, and has now edged ahead of Hillary Clinton of New York by a statistically insignificant two points in Indiana, a pair of new Zogby daily tracking telephone polls show
After a good day of polling, Obama retains a lead in North Carolina - 48% to 39%, with 13% either unsure or favoring someone else. In Indiana, Obama won the day by a small margin and now holds 43% support, compared to 41% for Clinton, with the balance either favoring someone else or undecided.

Good Morning Obama-Nites:
I just finished watching Barack Obama on Meet The Press with Tim Russett. Barack was amazing. He was precise, deliberate, and Presidental. All I could keep saying was "Wow, what a great presence to the world." Barack answered every question that was imposed to him, he didn't shy away from the questions that the Republicans would attack him on. And he said he is happy to have a debate with the Republicans about the war, his patrotism, and the economy. He spoke about Hillary and her comment about plan for a gas tax relief, and how she would handle Iran. I have not seen Barack so determined and forceful in laying to rest the issue about his experience. This is our President and the world need to stand up and say "It's a new day in America".

I'm watching Meet the Press now, such great information to take on to the doors with me. I'm in Durham volunteering and GOTV. One great point, I knew that the gas tax was short term pandering and that it would cost construction jobs and take money from our Infrastructure, but what I didn't know was that Senator Clinton has already committed the windfall profits tax to something else or that to get the tax through it would have to be signed into law by PRESIDENT BUSH!!! This is obviously NOT going to happen. You don't have to have a college degree or even be bright at all to figure out that this is blatant PANDERING that is going to solve any of our long term problems. I for one know that I would not sell out this amazing country and all its potential for 1/2 tank of gas. NO THANKS.

Will do Cathy. You get them on the phones and I'll try to get them at the doors. I flew in yesterday and so only had a few hours of canvassing yesterday afternoon, but so far I have not come across even one Clinton supporter (at least that would admit it). Still some undecided voters, but they seem to be leaning Obama. My favorite was a strong Obama supporter, a 96 years woman that will be voting for Obama curbside (and her daughter will be voting for Obama too, and said she would be "happy" to stand in line with other Obama supporters to vote). Yes We Can.

May 4th 2008 at 10:35 am EDT
Thank you to everyone in the Lake Norman & Huntersville area for all the support. Personally, I could not be prouder to be associated with such a generous group of people.
Now, I need to ask for a little more - and I ask, knowing how busy you all are with family and jobs. I am right there with you. But I cannot stress how critical it is that we find more volunteers for Sunday, Monday & especially Tuesday. The race in NC is unexpectedly close. We critically need your help to go door by door to ensure that every voter makes it to the polls. I have to ask you - can you give 3 more hours? If the worst happened on Tuesday - would you feel that you had given your all? Please remember, that putting a Democrat in the White House is critical to the Supreme Court. 3 spots will open up in the next Presidency. Those appointments will affect your child & mine, for a generation. Please, find a babysitter, take a few hours off work, and come help. We have learned that on the ground volunteers on election day, can swing an election by 4-5 points. Polls currently show Barack only up by 5-6 points. And Hillary Clinton has declared that NC is going to be a "game changer". Don't let NC change who will be President of the United States.
I'll personally train you - I'll make sure that you have a job you are comfortable with. The office is local - 582 Davidson Gateway Drive, Davidson NC - take Griffeth to the 2nd roundabout, take left, it's office with sign on Left, right before Halo Hair Salon. Email me at Susan@galwayco.com for more info or to schedule a shift. Sunday, 2-6. Monday 10-2 or 2-6. And CRITICALLY, Tuesday (Election Day) 9-12, 12-4, or 4-7:30. If you can't do a full shift, just let me know what you can do.
I love how much you have all done already. This has been an exciting & inspiring campaign. As Barack Obama said "I am not asking you to believe just in my ability to change Washington, I am asking you to believe in yours." We need your most valuable resource - time. If you cannot help this time - please find one or two people that can.

Jay: Excuse me, Jay, but an article in CNN says "7 votes!!!" Yes, that's what they are claiming. I was shocked myself, because the last time I looked he was up by 6% with 86% counted. I guess a win is a win. We are only talking about 4 total delegates ... probably to be split 2 - 2.

I hope Barack has some time tonight to rest and prepare for MTP tomorrow.
I'm sure he'll be asked about Rev. Wright again. He should be prepared. If I had to guess it will be why he stayed in the church so long?
The key is to answer the question quickly and then pivot. Something like:
I was attracted to the Trinity Church community because of all the good works they do helping people in the community. Ministries for the poor, the elderly, prison etc. Helping people get a good education. I could see how much good was being done in the community and I wanted to be part of that.
Now I have denounced my former pastor remarks because they are offensive and do not represent my values. And the issues for voters is my values.
I'm the product of an interracial couple. My mother born in the heartland of Kansas instilled in me mid=western values. As the product of an interracial marriage my whole life has been about bridging differences and bringing people together. That is my record and that is what I intend to do as President. To unify the nation, to heal divisions so we can finally start solving the problems that we've just been talking about for the last 20 years.
Something else people should know - I was not born into wealth. There were times when my mother had to get some help just to put food on the table. I know how hard life can be. When I first moved to Chicago I was living in a basement making less than $15,000 a year. That's why when I see politicians promoting gimmicks for those struggling instead of real solutions I get angry - because the people of this country deserve better.

For whatever it's worth, McCain's campaign manager was on NPR two or three months ago, and he had said that if Obama was nominated, he would quit. They pressed him to tell why, and he finally said, "I don't want anything to do with a smear campaign against Barack Obama."
I think there's a lot of respect for him out there. People see he's a leader and a man of integrity. That's why the supers will nominate him.
If they don't, I'm really going to feel like giving up on this country. This nonsense is really getting old.

SHAME ON THE MEDIA for continuously hammering on Rev Wright. Only stupid people will not know by now that "powers that be" in CNN, MSNBC etc have ulterior motives for consistently hammering on Rev Wright while ignoring dozens of Hillary's questionable associations.
McCain's statement yesterday indicate that we are in Iraq because of oil. This is a very grave statement, more important than Rev Wright, but it did not enjoy good airtime.

I listened to both CBS and NBC tonight, and it really seemed that both were talking up Clinton and saying she's closing the gap in NC...and they sounded like Obama was just parading his kids to get some votes.
Good for Michelle for just saying it: "We wanted to have a family day because we want people to know that when we're in the white house, we'll be working for families..."
She's great.
It will be interesting to see what Meet the Press does tomorrow. THere's gotta be some fear of God in them, seeing what happened to ABC. I sent them a good factual question about his legislative experience. Let's see if they can be decent. I've also taken Tim to task on his playing down Obama's successes and playing up Clinton's. So we'll see how it goes.

I agree 100% with NorCal Woman and Vincent.
Like Hillary, the MSM underestimated Barack so got their destruction machine against Barack running very late in the game. That's why one reason why, Thank God, he is still ahead.
With Howard Dean in 2004 they had a much earlier warning and took that poor guy down by playing one scream over and over again. It was absolutely ridiculous. That average Americans fell for it.
Had the corporate media been fair and the average American been fair perhaps Howard Dean would have been our current President.
Certainly, on the issues and when it came to toughness Dean was stronger than John Kerry, but the MSM and those richy rich corporations got the weak candidate they wanted and defeated him with Bush the monster.
Obama's still got a chance, but everyone should sense that his opponents are not just Hillary and McCain. His opponents include almost every MSM TV and radio station in America. A few commentators are giving him a fair shake, Olberman on MSNBC (not sure how he has kept his job) and Rachel Maddow and Ed Shultze who are on Air America.
May God Bless Barack Obama and help him defeat Corporate America.
Corporate America may be successful, and may be smart in some ways, but blinded by its greed for power and money they are very very stupid when it comes to understanding what is good for the future of America and the future of the Earth.
No one looks to Corporate America for leadership in spirituality or moral guidance. There's a reason for that, Corporate America basically has no leadership in those areas.
May God Bless Barack Obama and help him be vistorious over the Darkness that is the Corporate media.

Charlotte Observer for Obama
North Carolina's biggest paper backs Obama for his potential to restore decency to politics, and for a list of reasons it doesn't like Hillary:
[W]e're troubled by, to cite a few examples, these aspects of her presidential campaign:
• Many of her supporters seem intent on depicting Sen. Obama as the Jesse Jackson of 2008, a leader who appeals to an ethnic minority but not to the broader electorate needed to win.
• She sometimes exaggerates her influence and experiences, as when she claimed she "helped to bring peace to Northern Ireland" and said she ducked under sniper fire in Bosnia.
• Florida and Michigan were stripped of national convention delegates after breaking party rules by scheduling their primaries too early. The candidates didn't campaign in them. Yet after Sen. Clinton did well in those states, she pushed to change the rules and count the votes. That's a cynical, self-serving effort to corrupt the selection process.
• Her tendency to tell voters what they want to hear is disturbing. Her proposal to suspend the federal tax on gasoline this summer is campaign gimmickry, not leadership. Her assertion that she was a critic of NAFTA from the beginning is simply unbelievable. The record shows she was an ardent advocate of the trade deal.

Doesn't it seem like every state we have a contest in, Hillary does something unsavory. For example, robocalls; fliers filled with lies; telling people not to report to caucus sites; closing doors before it's time and not letting people in to caucus, etc.
The amazing part to me is that people still vote for her. Blows my mind. I guess some people cannot be helped.

Agree that Tim Russert is being extremely fair and this time is great for Barack. Tim Russert is letting Barack speak through his topics in his own words - not arguing and in many cases putting the final emphasis on the point (ie when Russert concluded the discussion on the Senator Clinton's gas tax by stating - 'So, it's pandering?' Barack answered, 'yes').
A full hour in network press - remember that most of us are linked with the internet world and alternate information sources - many people across this country still watch mainly network stations only.
When I was calling PA before the primary, I had many people site that their main source of information was television news. I believe this will be the case in other states also. I know this is the case for my Mother (76 and Obama supporter) and many of her generation. When she shares with me the limited information she received in network news, it is like she and I are living in different worlds. I share the broader information daily and she is amazed that she hears none of the broader or positive news. I send her printed versions of speeches and news sources.
So, just sharing the perspective I have been able to understand more by talking to my own Mother -- it helps me understand the perspective of people on the phone when I am calling. Information is a great tool when calling and people do listen.
LET'S MAKE THIS A RECORD CALL DAY --- I will be on the phones as soon as Meet the Press is over.

Good morning. I didn't know if they were going to start a new blog after the interview on Meet The Press, but I just finished watching it.
It was great!
I sent an email question to MSNBC and told them not to ask Senator Obama about Rev. Wright, that we were tired of hearing about it.
They did it anyway. I think that it gave him another golden opportunity to clarify his views on the matter. They spent a great deal of time, as usual, discussing it.
I don't think it put it to bed because they don't want it to be put away.
However, it is very clear that they really have no interests in the issues. He explained every issue very well and intelligently without hesitation.
The News Media is addicted to controversy--they deliberately stir it up.
The final word is left up to the American people -- will they think for themselves, or will they react to what the News Media tells them to.
I am proud of this man. I still believe,
YES WE CAN!

She is a real asset to Barack Obama. She can talk for almost an hour without notes -- intelligently.
She tells it like it is. She gave a history of the election and how the bar has moved every time Barack Obama gets to it.
She deals with all of the issues and explains them all very well.
They tried to kick out of the race with the "really, really proud of America" comments that were taken out of context. And they never clear that up, but bring it up every time the mention the issues surround him.
Barck has done an awesome job. He can't toot his own horn, but Michelle does it for him.
I wish her whole speech could be aired. It would really influence a lot of people.

Barack just said on Meet THe Press, that they tried this gas tax relief in Il., and he voted for it, but it didn't work. He learned from this mistake, and would not do it again. That's the kind or POTUS we need, not someone who is just trying to get votes out of a GIMMICK policy that won't work in the first place. Terry

Hi All,
i prayed for a BHO victory all through the month of may, but Guys i'm really disturbed by the no of innocent Iraqis that are dying on a daily basis, its just like its not even as important as the death of that horse.
Michelle said that BHO uses this grassroot system so that when there is an issue we can speak out, I saw an iraqi today that just lost his 2nd son, he said that he had lost his 1st son earlier and he can find his 3rd son, his 2nd son was killed by US fire.
Please guys lets speak out against all these innocent iraqis being killed, their blood is on US head, that could explain why people are voting for clearly the wrong choices (HRC and McSame), even the most conservative people the british just voted for change.
Barack is clearly the Best and only choice, all over the world everybody knows

Democrat Barack Obama of Illinois holds a nine point lead in North Carolina, and has now edged ahead of Hillary Clinton of New York by a statistically insignificant two points in Indiana, a pair of new Zogby daily tracking telephone polls show
After a good day of polling, Obama retains a lead in North Carolina - 48% to 39%, with 13% either unsure or favoring someone else. In Indiana, Obama won the day by a small margin and now holds 43% support, compared to 41% for Clinton, with the balance either favoring someone else or undecided.

I am not saying ignore NC. I am going to split my time 50-50 in those states. We cannot take anything for granted- not even a big lead. We don't know what kind of kitchen sink HRC will dump on Monday.

Feminists for Peace and Barack Obama!
THE PETITION
In the coming elections, it is important to remember that war and peace are as much "women's issues" as are health, the environment, and the achievement of educational and occupational equality. Because we believe that all of these concerns are not only fundamental but closely intertwined, we will be casting our vote for Senator Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.
Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, we have watched with shock and sorrow as our country has become mired in war. The resulting tragedy for our own soldiers, their immediate families and for the people of Iraq has been incalculable.
Less obvious, but no less grave has been the impact on our domestic institutions and economy. With a defense budget of half a trillion dollars and expenditures now averaging $12 billion a month for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, resources that might have been used for health care, housing, education, repair of infrastructure, relief of poverty and community development have been drained away.
We urgently need a Presidential candidate, who understands that "pre-emptive" attacks on other countries and the reliance on military force have diminished rather then strengthened our national security. And we urgently need a Presidential candidate whose first priority is to address domestic needs. We do not believe that Senator Hillary Clinton is that candidate.
We also recognize that the election of Barack Obama would be another historic achievement and that his support for gender equality has been unwavering.
Yet it is noteworthy that at a time when this position was politically unpopular and when he was aiming for national office, Barack Obama opposed the U.S. invasion of Iraq and has spoken out against the war ever since. This puts him in a far better position to articulate a clear challenge to a Republican opponent.
We are also moved by the positive tone of the Obama campaign, the tremendous energy it has released across the country, the dramatic engagement of young people and the impetus for change that his candidacy embodies.
We are speaking out now because we cannot afford to elect another President who will continue the aggressive, interventionist policies of the present.

Superdelegates must follow the will of voters
Demand that the Democratic Party defend democracy
Leaders of the Democratic Party are playing a dangerous game -- risking the credibility of the party to hand Hillary Clinton the nomination against the will of voters. Heading down this path means disenfranchising millions of voters and legitimizing a campaign strategy that has displayed a clear pattern of race baiting and divisive politics.
Join me in demanding that Democratic Party leadership and superdelegates uphold the integrity of the party and listen to the voice of voters.
Click right here right now to sign your name to this letter:
Link
Here is the text of the message to send to the Democratic Party's leadership:
Attention: DNC Chair Howard Dean, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and superdelegates:
Dear party leaders:
The Democratic Party is playing a dangerous game and I'm writing to ask that you bring it to an end.
It has come to my attention that elected officials and party leaders are actually considering using their status as "superdelegates" to hand the nomination to Hillary Clinton against the will of voters, an action that would disenfranchise millions.
Following this course would be a shocking attack on voting rights and democracy. It would also give your seal of approval to an "electability" strategy executed by stoking race-based fear and division among voters. We expect that from the Republicans; we fight them on it every year. But now the leadership of the Democratic Party is poised to cosign this strategy of division and disenfranchisement. This could be the worst mistake the party has ever made, yet it's being talked about as a legitimate way for this campaign to end.
The voters who have come out in record numbers to participate in the Democratic Party won't allow this to happen, and as the most visible leaders of the party, you must reject the idea that the nomination can be won with a strategy that preys on racism, sows division, and disenfranchises millions of voters.
Sincerely,
Tom
