CAN I STILL VOTE IF THE ELECTION OFFICIALS CAN’T FIND MY NAME ON THE LIST OF REGISTERED VOTERS, OR IF I DO NOT HAVE PROPER IDENTIFICATION?
YES. If you believe that you are properly registered to vote, but you do not appear on the list of registered voters (or you are otherwise prevented from voting a regular ballot) you may always vote a provisional ballot. Before voting a provisional ballot, however, you should make sure that you are at the proper polling place. If you aren’t, you should go to your proper polling place and vote a regular ballot there.
If you request a provisional ballot, you will have to sign a short affirmation stating that you are a registered voter in the jurisdiction in which you seek to vote and are eligible to vote in this election.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I MAKE AN ERROR IN FILLING OUT MY BALLOT?
You should notify a poll worker. You are entitled to receive up to three (3) replacement ballots.
I WAS TOLD THAT MY VOTER REGISTRATION WAS “INACTIVE” AND I WAS REQUIRED TO MAKE AN ORAL OR WRITTEN AFFIRMATION BEFORE VOTING? WILL MY VOTE COUNT?
Yes. Sometimes the Board of Elections “tags” people who have failed to respond to an address confirmation mailing. If you have not moved out of the county, you are still able to vote a regular ballot after making a short oral or written affirmation (no ID is required).
