I had an hour to kill this afternoon, so I decided to fire up the call tool and make a few calls for next weekend's service project. I've made less than my share of phone bank calls, but we're trying to clear a field on Saturday and I want to get full value out of the effort. I'm getting pretty astonishing responses. People are tremendously positive. I'm not sure who is on this list or why, but these people are ready to do something. They like the President and they're tired of sitting around watching people like Sanford screw up their lives. We'll see if we end up with warm bodies at
ECCO on Saturday for the Phillips Project
, but people are glad to hear from someone calling on behalf of the President. I threw the script away and pitched the Phillips Project and the Tuesday meeting. Several people gave me email addresses so I could send them invitations. I was very encouraged. It would be worth your while to make some calls. We've got people out there and we might be able to bring them in. These calls may be singing to the Choir, but they like the music.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who threw away the script! I did get a good response as well, before I ran into a string of 'not at homes'. I dont' have a lot of time, but I want to do what I can to make health care reform a reality.
I cant' wait to hear what will be said at the Listening tour meetings. More than 100 people are signed up for the Columbia event. I think the challenge will be dealing with the competition among progressive groups in South Carolina, and the disconnect you mentioned earlier between the White House and OFA.
