I know that my shouting at my TV screen on Friday would not reach Barack's ears, but I couldn't help myself. I offered such IMNSHO sage advice!!! But, when the questions regarding how to save money in the new administration when "you are president", what do you think needs to be cut, or where are tax dollars are going, no matter how loud I shouted the right answer, the answer Barack ran his primary on, he never said "Stop the War".
Instead, I fear I heard about getting involved in MORE conflicts.
I also heard words like "take them out" when speaking of Pakistan (not removed troops, but kill Pakistanis).
Color me flabbergasted. I can accept a few "hawkish" words, after all politics is politics, but just because McCain is a "war hero" [I do use those quotes with meaning - he suffered horrifically, but does that a hero make?] does this mean that Barack should be playing on McCain's turf, instead of Barack Obama's forte? His foresight to never be for spending and a war in Iraq?
This is what set him apart so strongly in the primaries.
I would write to Barack Obama directly if there were any "contact us" options left on this site, but I have yet to find it.
I was very disappointed at the change in tone about getting us out of Iraq ASAP. Think of the resources, think of the troops, think of my Son-in-Law who is going to be heading now to Afghanistan for his 3rd tour in a few months, with so little respite in between. He doesn't complain, he is not that kind of man. But I am that kind of Mama-bear, I want him to be home and safe, and have him spend a long while with his young family.
Instead, during these precious months home, he goes away from home for training for weeks or months at a time. He has to have his surgery while he's home. He has to recuperate. He has to take care of business and help secure his "nest" that he will soon be leaving..again..2 long, extended tours in Iraq, and now off to what I just heard at the debate is the most dangerous place to be now, Afghanistan?
How are we going to take care of our troops and their families? It isn't just making sure the wounded get good care at hospitals, it has to be more holistic in nature. To be the most vigilant and at their best, they can't keep going into harms way. The stress, the trauma, the pavlovian effect, the PTSD.
And I heard from my "peace oriented" candidate talk about more campaigns to get involved in?
They can't be effective stretched as they have been. What is your newest plan to;
1. Get us out of Iraq [forget with dignity] now?
2. Avoid going into other countries uninvited
3. Make peace with those we've hurt around the world
4. Let our currently over-extened military troops rest and heal i.e. get new /fresh people willing to inlist and have time to be trained properly?
I did hear you speak about more talks. That is a fabulous start. But then you appeared to back off some when McCain used his "I was there once, I know more than you chip" and you stopped speaking your plan and truth to, instead, get caught up in his dogma and chase his erroneous statements he twisted regarding your words he said you said...that's his game and strategy, don't get suckered in please.
Your own truth has been your strength, but I see that either changing to be more "in line" with the status quo, or have you truly learned something that has changed your reality enough to now change your original campaign stances and issues, especially about war?
