The Cold War was a race to bankruptcy which we won when the USSR reached bankruptcy first. After restructuring and downsizing, the USSR is back as Russia and they did it without a bailout from the US Treasury. Now it is our turn to teeter on the brink of bankruptcy ourselves, with no one to bail us out.
The Bush administration is leaving the economy in a shambles with the incoming Obama administration facing all these crises around the world, either ignored or worsened by Bush policies:
Iraq war
Afghan war
Israel Hamas war
India Pakistan confrontation, the most dangerous because both are nuclear powers
Russia Georgia war
Darfur
Congo war
Zimbabwe disintegration
It will take a magician to follow the George W. Bush act. Let us pray that Barack is up to it.

Several years ago I said that the problems in USA are so big that the nation will collapse; unless there emerges and exceptional leader. A normal president can not solve it. The problems are too big for that.
And as far as I can perceive, there has emerged an exceptional leader.
